Amazonian cities are growing and have the peculiarity of concentrating a high percentage of
young population; thus, 50% of the population of Iquitos is under 15 years old, demonstrating an
increasingly urban childhood and the existence of specific needs of children that must be
addressed by public space. The informal city developed in the peripheries is the densest sector,
with the highest degree of poverty and greater health risk; but it is also the most connected with
nature and where most children are found. This is the environment of urban creeks, small water
inlets in the urban area that have seasonal changes of flooding and drying, and therefore promote
a dynamic and adaptive living ideal for the child development with the environment. The project's
objective is to demonstrate that it is possible to generate a model of public space with playful and
educational character from the child's perspective, considering their adaptive dynamics and a
participatory approach for the elaboration of the proposal.
