Member candidates are thoroughly vetted prior to offer of membership, and embrace their role as stewards of the Club’s heritage while fostering a welcoming, family-oriented environment. Farmington’s diverse membership, comprised of over 1,170 resident members and 1,700 national members (approximately 7,800 individuls) includes residents from 43 states and the District of Columbia, and even attracts members from abroad including eight nationalities beyond the United States.

Engagement Community engagement is a cornerstone of the Farmington membership experience, reflecting a deep commitment to service and generosity. Each year, the Club provides holiday meals for Albemarle County first responders as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation. Through the First Tee Virginia Blue Ridge Invitational and youth clinics, Farmington impacts thousands of local children, fostering both athletic and personal growth. Partnerships with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club offer hands-on opportunities to teach meal preparation and food service skills, while staff and members alike rally behind the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle campaign, demonstrating Farmington’s enduring spirit of giving back.

The Farmington Historical Society Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization created to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The Foundation exists to preserve and memorialize the early history and architecture made by Thomas Jefferson. Full Service The 100,000 sq.ft. clubhouse includes 10,000 sq.ft. of event space—including the Jefferson Room, Pine Room, Ballroom, Main Dining Room, and multiple conference rooms. Additional gathering spaces include an expansive library, a wine room, a living room and Peacock Alley. Vibrant gardens, terraces, and a brand-new sports pavilion offer a perfect outdoor escape. The Club has 39 unique guest rooms and suites, which have hosted past presidents, dignitaries, celebrities, international travelers and locals alike. Farmington prides itself on providing a warm, hospitable experience for our guests to ensure they feel at home during their stay at the Club. A wide range of spectacular event spaces—both indoors and out—cater to gatherings of all sizes from intimate meetings like birthdays, anniversaries, business meetings or corporate retreats to large-scale celebrations and fundraising galas. Over the past four years, Farmington has hosted approximately 80 weddings.

From our elaborate Fourth of July Celebration to familyfriendly events like our Easter Egg Hunt and annual Labor Day Fair, there’s something for everyone. Our end-of-year holiday events include a popular Jingle Ball dance, a Clubhouse Lighting Ceremony, Photos with Santa, and Gingerbread House workshops. Other popular events include an annual Member-Celebration, Oyster Roast, and a vibrant yearly performance by the UVA Marching Band. We also host an exceptional Speaker Series with notable authors, athletes, and other professionals, ensuring a diverse and engaging lineup throughout the year.

Exceptional Dining Farmington’s top-ranked Culinary Team continues to deliver world-class dining experiences for everyday enjoyment, special occasions, and everything in between. The Club features two full-service dining outlets: the Blue Ridge Room for upscale dining and the Grill for casual, everyday meals, along with the seasonal Poolside Grill and 10th Tee. Members enjoy monthly international and holidaythemed dining experiences, as well as popular weekly programming such as Monday’s Burger Night at the Grill. The lively bars and lounges, elegant dining rooms, and relaxing outdoor terraces at each outlet cater to diverse dining preferences. Additionally, the Farmington Wine Society offers monthly wine tastings, quarterly wine dinners, and a variety of beveragethemed educational events throughout the year. Golf Farmington members are able to enjoy golf throughout the year on our top-ranked courses. The Main Course, designed by Fred Findlay and recognized as one of the best in the state by Virginia Business magazine, features 18 holes and a par 70. The East Course, designed by Coore & Crenshaw, includes 10 holes with a par 35. Each year, Farmington hosts the Kenridge Invitational. With a rich history dating back to the 1930s, the Kenridge is one of the preeminent amateur golf tournaments on the East Coast and one of Farmington’s proudest traditions. Additional facilities include a warm-up range, putting green, a full service pro shop, bag storage, locker rooms, and a state-of-the-art Golf Performance Center. The Performance Center occupies 10 acres of outdoor practice space, plus six indoor hitting bays equipped with the latest in high performance technology. In-house club fitting and repair is also offered.

Fitness and Aquatics Farmington is dedicated to keeping its members in top shape while providing a variety of offerings. The full-service Fitness Center, open daily, features well-appointed cardio, weight lifting, and stretching equipment, and offers 24 exercise classes per week including yoga, Pilates, and unique options such as Tai Chi. A team of personal trainers, licensed massage therapists, and a physical therapist are ready to assist members on their wellness journey. The Massage and Wellness Center provides spa-level services, including 11 different massage modalities. The Aquatics Complex includes a heated 8-lane, 25-meter lap pool, a 12-foot diving well, and a zerodepth entry pool. The pool season runs from May to September, with an extended season featuring heated lap swimming for those enrolled in the Polar Bear Club. Additionally, the active Farmington Frogs swim team and individual swimming instruction for all ages ensure that everyone can enjoy and improve their swimming skills.

Racquet Sports Farmington boasts a top-five racquets department, as ranked by Club+Resort Business Magazine, offering yearround opportunities to enjoy tennis, pickleball, and paddle tennis. A thriving racquets community and beautifully maintained clay playing surfaces make it impossible to stay off the courts. Farmington features 15 meticulously groomed Har-Tru clay courts, with 11 above-ground watering and 4 hydro courts. Additionally, there are 6 outdoor pickleball courts and 6 indoor hybrid pickleball courts, as well as 3 lighted paddle tennis courts and 6 lighted tennis courts for evening play. The spacious Indoor Racquets Facility includes 3 full courts, a players lounge, and locker rooms. A team of fully certified racquets professionals is available daily for instruction in pickleball, paddle, and tennis, making Farmington the only club in America with this distinction. A new stateof-the-art racquets facility is in planning stages as part of the Westward Phase Racquets/Fitness Complex.

Youth Activities Farmington provides a wide array of year-round programming to engage and enrich our youngest members and guests, aged 3 months to 18 years. Our Kids Club offers worry-free childcare while on-site, as well as an Art Studio to nurture creativity. Families enjoy numerous monthly themed events and youth activities, including the annual Truck Touch, Father-Daughter Dance, Mother-Son Prom, Family Campout, Pumpkin Splash, Underwater Egg Hunt, Teen Lock-In, and many more. We offer robust camp schedules featuring sports instruction and craft activities over 85 days throughout the year, including 11 weeks of summer camp for ages 4-15. Additionally, we provide opportunities for birthday party planning and themed event development, ensuring memorable experiences for all ages.

Forward-thinking In addition to the $60M spent since 2013 to meet the current and future demands of Farmington’s membership, our current Westward Phase expansion project, which includes the construction of a new fitness center and racquet sports facility, will further serve the Farmington community for years to come. The multiple projects, such as the recently completed sports pavilion (pictured left), are financially modular with built-in checkpoints to protect the Club’s financial position during an economic downturn.

Looking to the Future Farmington Country Club has a process of strategic planning which guides major decision-making and provides continuity and predictability in maintaining and improving the Club and its operations. The Club’s master plan is developed by committee, with member input, and reviewed annually by the Strategic Planning Committee. In terms of member satisfaction, we determine what is relevant to our members, understand unintended consequences, and evaluate the effect on operations. Farmington continues to advance membership Retention, Relevance, & Recruitment by developing programs to satisfy a wide range of member demographics and attracting prospective members from varied backgrounds and experiences to bring vitality and diversity to the Club.

Leadership Governance at Farmington Country Club includes the development of club leaders for the future. Members are offered an opportunity to participate in governance first through committee service. The governance model provides guidelines for service and encourages participation. The terms of Directors and committee members are limited to promote fresh thinking and avoid undue influence. Farmington Country Club’s Board of Directors has established a procedure for the selection of Board officers. The procedure is intended to provide a transparent process that allows the Board to plan a leadership succession that will maximize the efficiencies of institutional knowledge for the Board.

Fiscal Responsibility The Farmington management team has transformed the Club from an annual deficit to generating a healthy annual surplus. This turnaround has allowed the Club to utilize depreciation, initiation fees, and the capital charge to fund Capital needs. KPI’s, reporting tools and incentives are used to focus managers on the areas that improve operational and financial success. The team holds monthly financial meetings to discuss strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. These meetings review rolling annual forecasts to help continually monitor the financial and operational performance of the Club.

Transparency Farmington created a professionally designed Annual Report for Resident members, now included on the website. The Annual Report shows how the Club performed financially for the year. Other financial reporting tools include quarterly reports from the Treasurer, posting of the Independent Accountants Report and the 990 tax return on the website.
