October BULK PICKUP Week

It’s Fire Prevention Month!

Each year, October is proclaimed Fire Prevention Month, as the City’s “Branch Brigade” firefighter characters and other Fire Department staff take important safety messages to schools and the community. This year’s theme, Cooking Safety Starts with You, serves to reduce kitchen fires and accidents by reminding everyone to stay alert and use caution when cooking. The Fire Department offers the following safety tips for residents to use when cooking at home: • Always keep a close eye on what you are cooking, and set a timer for reminders. • Turn pot handles toward the back of the stove to prevent them from being bumped in passing or grabbed by a child. For more information, visit facebook.com/farmersbranchfire or the following public education websites: fpw.org and sparky.org.
