New Event Center Underway The City of Farmers Branch is excited to announce that construction has started on the new event center at the Historical Park. The project contractor, who was approved by City Council in February, began work in late March; and the 8,147-square-foot facility is expected to be available for private events beginning Spring 2024. Amenities will include catering areas, a bride’s room and a groom’s room, a meeting space, and a covered porch overlooking the meadow. Take A Walk in Honor of Our Heroes Liberty Plaza is a park dedicated to the heroism and patriotism of our veterans and active service members. The park was established in 2007 as a place to rest, reflect and celebrate America and those who have defended our freedom. One of the highlights of Liberty Plaza is the Veterans Walk of Honor, a memorial dedicated to the Farmers Branch residents and family members who answered the call to protect our country. The Walk of Honor includes a bronze sculpture of a World War II veteran, known as “Poppies,” donated by the Arts Foundation and dedicated on Veterans Day, 2000. Liberty Plaza and the Veterans Walk of Honor are located behind the Children’s Health StarCenter at 12700 N. Stemmons Fwy.
