This edition will be a dose to enforce the conception mentioned in the above premise. Nowadays, we frequently witness new products and services popping up in the market on a daily basis. Many of us just conclude that these inventions are pouring out of the genius brains, but, most of these are a concocted potion of the conventional ‘hardwork’ philosophy blended with an out-of-the-box idea. So, we must not presume that ‘innovation’ just happen ‘accidentally’. The secret sauce to success involves a lot of hard work and an idea for making a seed flourish into a huge fruitful tree. From the above premise, we can conclude that innovative brand making is not just a mere coincidence but it is a continuous process of evolving as a better choice among the targeted audience. Here, on the cover page, we have depicted the inspiring journey of Perfios Software Solutions. Innovative, Disruptive, Category Creator, Cutting Edge Technology and Reliable have become synonymous terms to this spectacular organisation. Today, it has become a key disruptor across the BFS industry leveraging technological advancements, and has made its steadfast presence in its market niche. To that extent, their innovations have had a positive disruption on the industry practices, that testifies their impact scale. The whole story is based on the freewheeling conversation with the Co-Founder and CEO— V.R. Govindarajan who touched several aspects of this decades old organisation and showered us with some food for our thoughts. No doubt, his business insights, values, acuity everything left us amazed and we fervently believe that our readers will find these quite fascinating too! Success Story
The Success Story of CEO & Co-Founder
I had a strong aspiration to invent something from early childhood. And I had seen myself as a businessman when I was 12 years old. Since then, I developed an interest in learning about the business world.
Larry Page At the age of 25, Larry Page, one of the youngest well-known American Entrepreneur, having a net worth of over 100 billion USD as of 2021, co-founded Google Inc. with Sergey Brin in 1998 and served as the parent company’s Alphabet’s CEO until December 2019, is now on the board of directors and a majority shareholder. How did Larry Page transform his business idea into one of the world’s most profitable corporations? Lawrence Edward Page, the most successful internet entrepreneur, and computer scientist has an inspiring stunning success tale from which entrepreneurs can learn. Page and Brin created the internet’s most commonly used algorithm with the aim of “organizing the world’s knowledge and making it freely accessible and useful.” Larry Page coined the term “PageRank” to describe his algorithm. Having been born on March 26, 1973, to parents Dr. Carl and Gloria Page, a family with a greater fascination with technology, he has always been drawn to computers, artificial intelligence, and creativity. This had a huge impact on his future professional life. Page grew up surrounded by mathematics and its products and always dreamt of starting his own business rather than working for someone else.

He studied computer engineering at Stanford University, following in his parents’ footsteps. During his studies, he met Sergey Brin, with whom he cofounded Google, a search engine that ranked results based on page popularity and went on to become the world’s most popular search engine. The term “googol” comes from a very large number written as one followed by 100 zeros, which represents the vast universe of data that the Google search engine was created to explore. Page’s field of interests included renewable energy technologies and philanthropy. Being visionary, recently he has invested in Tesla Motors and advocates for the use of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. FAMILY, EDUCATION AND EARLY LIFE Larry Page married Lucinda Southworth, a biomedical informatics research scientist, on December 8, 2007. The couple has two children (The First child born in 2009, the second child born in 2011). In 2009, Page earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University. Earlier, Stanford University awarded him a Master’s degree in Computer Science. After completing his high school studies at East Lansing High School in the year 1991, Page graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. He studied music composition and used to play the flute. Nikola Tesla, the physicist, and inventor was his childhood hero. He finished his education at Okemos Montessori School in 1979. He had a lot of computers and science magazines in his house as he was born into a family of scientists in Michigan, the United States of America. ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY • 2019: In December 2019, Larry Page stepped down as CEO of Alphabet. • 2015: In August, Page and Brin announced the formation of a new parent company called “Alphabet.” Page was named CEO of the new company. The company included Google giant and Android, Chrome, Google+, and YouTube. • 2011: Lary Page was made CEO in January. • 1998: The project was renamed Google in September. • 1996-1998: Page and Brin decided to integrate their project as a company. The duo raised funds from family and friends to buy some servers and rent the famous garage in Menlo Park, California similar to Apple and Amazon. Susan Wojcicki, who later became a Google senior vice president and is now the CEO of YouTube, owned the space. Andy Bechtolsheim, Sun-microsystems, co-founder financed this company by writing a cheque for $100,000. • 1996: For a few months, the duo developed a search engine named “Black Rub” that ran on Stanford servers. • 1995: Page worked with Sergey Brin on search engine algorithm research during his Ph.D.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION • 2021: Secured 8th position in the Forbes list of “Billionaires 2021”. • 2020: Secured 8th position in the Forbes list of 400 Wealthiest Americans. • 2019: Secured 10th position in the Forbes list of “Billionaires 2019”. • 2019: Page was named as 12th-richest person in the world. • 2018: Secured 10th position in Powerful people in the world. • 2017: Secured 5th position in the list of the World’s 100 richest Tech billionaires. • 2004: Page was named “Persons of the Week” on ABC World News Tonight. • 2004: Page and Brin received Marconi Prize. • 2002: Page and Brin were named in the MIT technology review TR100 for being the top 100 investors. • 2002: Page was named as Global Leader for tomorrow by “The Economic Forum”. LARRY PAGE QUOTES • The ultimate search engine will know everything there is to know about the universe, and it would always give you the correct answer. We’re still a long way from that. • You get a better result if you can run the business more collaboratively because you have more bandwidth and testing and balancing going on. • We don’t have as many managers as we could, but having a few is preferable to having too many. • In essence, we want to organize the world’s knowledge and make it universally available and useful. • To grow the concept, you don’t need a 100-person business. • The Star Trek machine seems to be uninteresting. They ask it random questions, and it mulls over the answers for a while. We should do better, in my opinion. Today, Google, with more than 2, 00,000 employees, is the world’s famous internet company and the most commonly used search engine; the journey has been an adventure. Larry Page is the man who turned his dreams into reality and is a real superstar entrepreneur to pay attention.

Design Makers
Where creativity, innovation and integrity are the prerequisites Indranil Roy | Business Connect
I
n a virtual interview session with the key officials of Design Makers — Megha Satish(Co-Founder & Creative Director) and Abdul Rahiman(Co-Founder & CEO), Business Connect discussed the start-up’s business portfolio, vision, mission and a lot more. So, let’s walk through this exclusive ‘read’ featuring the inspirational story of this 2-year-old venture.
COMPANY PROFILE
Design Makers — a Bangalore based start-up began its entrepreneurial journey with a belief that ‘design is intelligence made visible’. The company’s goals are not just focused on creating designs for the brands, but also reflect the emotions expressed by them. It offers a range of wide problem-solving solutions where each design is unique that has been customized as per the client’s brand. Their services include — brand identity, packaging, signage and wayfinding design, industrial design, and much more. While harnessing the power of innovation, imagination, and ingenuity, Design Makers allows effortless synchrony between ideation and problem-solving. Today, within a short period, this start-up has bagged multiple projects in 11 countries targeting 13 sectors. Highlighting their approach to end-to-end solutions to address the pain points for the clients, Abdul explains, “When we approach any design agency office, we are always treated as clients or a source to make money out of. Do they confuse us by saying jargon like Identity, Pantone, Grip?. The hustle-bustle, the glamour, the schedules make us feel alienated. The idea with Design Makers is to keep it simple. Talk to them as people, share their stories and experiences and translate them into the essence of brands they are building!” Moreover, their “Discovery Session” is the core of their design process where they sit down with the leaders and get to know about their goals and visions, and how they wish to approach their target group. “Having an analytical discussion like this creates moments where we are aligning their ideologies with our design thinking approach and work towards their success,” adds Megha.
A GLANCE OVER VISION AND MISSION
The company was ideated with the vision to carve an ecosystem for the makers(i.e. designers) or creatives to discover, learn, collaborate, innovate, and grow as a community to voice and

promote their ideas as well as stories across the targeted channels. And the mission statement goes as — Designed by humans, for humans. Their mission was established on the fact that humans are the most creative beings who have immense potential to evolve this world into a better place.
THOUGHTS ON THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM Both the co-founders claim that earlier business was considered a scary term because of the innumerable risks related to money, problems, stress, and other issues. But ever since they entered this space, both the leaders have acknowledged the beauty of the entrepreneurial debut.
“Yes it does have its pros and cons but the challenge is what drives you to wake up each day and keep hustling,” states the duo. 20
To them, the most amazing transformation is witnessing the younger generation taking responsibilities and ownership in the direction of value generation driven by their passions while standing firm on their grounds. Both of them are fascinated by the disruptions across the entrepreneurial ecosystem and innovations that are taking every industry by storm. Megha and Abdul also assert the need for self-discipline to make any business a major success. Though business is a bumpy road to take, be it any age— selfmotivated and enthusiastic attitude can help one build an empire even from scratch, they say. It is basically the experience we attain that helps majorly in building a successful business, affirms Abdul.
THE ROLE OF R&D
Beyond any doubt, R&D plays a vital role in the success of any company irrespective of its targeted industry. For making a difference in any area, R&D is crucial otherwise, the enterprises end up being outdated and stagnant and soon lose their identity. Acknowledging this fact, Design Makers is intensely focussed on its R&D processes to create seamless workflows establishing connectivity and team building within various departments. “We work on activities that encourage creative and intuitive thinking for all departments and not just the design. We work very closely to understand the problems of the clients and implement creative problem-solving solutions that are researched and developed to solve problems that are unique to each business,” quotes Megha about their R&D procedures.
ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP STYLE
For a business to reach greater heights, insightful leadership is a must to have a factor. And this is absolutely true in the case of Design Makers. Both the leaders believe that there is a huge difference between being a boss and being a leader. Their leadership is typically focused on motivating the workforce
via comfortable conversations, webinars, etc, and leading by example is their mantra to success. “As we both are from a design background, we evaluate first if it is possible to deliver in a certain style or timeframe. And when we are sure that it is possible, we set out a roadmap for others to follow,” revealed the phenomenal leaders.
A CULTURE CURATING CURIOSITY
Design Makers has always ensured its culture with an environment enriched with teaching, encouraging and empowering streak. To the management, every department is imperative for the holistic growth of the business. From handing over suitable information to the teammates to ensuring constructive feedbacks on every performance to sharing the real-time implementation of their work, the administration strives to develop a sense of ownership and pride within the employees. At the company, curiosity is nurtured and promoted at every step as it leads to the formation of new ideas, development and growth. “Providing a space where curious minds have the freedom to explore their ideas, develop and grow those concepts to fruition is the aim as we walk through the doors each morning,” says the Creative Director. Additionally, the start-up also emphasizes the personality development of the employees and conducts several programs in this direction.
MILESTONES AND FUTURE OUTLOOKS
In just 2 years of its iconic journey, Design Makers has witnessed exponential growth and takes immense pride to get the opportunity to work with some great clients in the UAE, Switzerland, KSA, Germany, Australia, and more – for enterprises like Barakat, Kosher Arabia, Meggit, She Burgers, and many others. Its expanding reputation across the business community speaks in favour of its success. 21
Megha Satish
Co-Founder and Creative Director
In addition to it, the duo has also decided to handle some mega projects that are in pipeline at present. Their committed efforts towards better prospects are not only focused on expanding their horizons but also ensuring International recognition in the respective space. And for this, they are leaving no stone unturned to add substance to the design space.
HANDY TIPS FOR BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS
Before signing off, both the leaders shared some useful tips for the aspiring entrepreneurs that can allow them to reach their goals • Always focus on living a disciplined life • Have a schedule and time-block your day. • Being productive during your work should be your priority. • Keep your assets organized. • Eliminate any unnecessary distractions while you work. • Always have a creative personal side project. • Keep yourself updated about your industry and competition.
PARTING WORDS BY THE LEADERS
“Read, watch and learn as much as the world can provide. Move away from your screens and pick up a book, magazine or newspaper – traditional media has a beautiful way of opening our minds to absorbing information. Keep yourself updated in the business world and as Nicholas Sparks said “Inspiration can come from anywhere.”

Not only must we be aware of the changes, but we must also be able to rethink objectives and assist customers in adapting so that they may enhance their effectiveness.”
Mr. Bhavesh Singla- Founder and CEO - B.S Group
BS Group was founded with the intention of providing specialized services in the fields of Digital Marketing, Graphic Designing, and Web Designing. The clients’ gratitude and support have inspired the team to focus on extending their operations into the sectors of Software Development, Mobile Application Development, and the Entertainment business.

BHAVESH SINGLA Founder & CEO
BS Group firmly believes in creating a personal connection with clients and making them feel like they are a part of the BS family. LOOKING BACK The founder shares an inspiring journey of starting the BS group and how he overcame the odds and emerged as a winner. “ Following my graduation, I was offered a position at a prestigious business with a salary package over 5 lakhs. Everyone was overjoyed, and my relatives said, “Ab toh life set hai.” My start date was supposed to be May 1st, but it kept being pushed back due to Covid-19. In the middle of May, I had the idea of starting something new.

software development, entertainment industry, clothing, and merchandising industry, and education domain.
I have always wanted to be my own boss. Couldn’t accept the corporate culture where someone else decides what is important for me, when I should take leave and where I need to justify my every step. Fortunately, I was able to combine my passions with a company concept, and on May 31, 2019, my brainchild was born. For approximately three months, I worked solely on its planning and documentation, as well as how to proceed forward. I asked Anushka Agarwal, a junior in college, to oversee the content department and collaborate with me on future planning.
THE FOUNDER FURTHER SHARES
“ My ambition is to become the first Bhavesh Singla. In the next five years, I envision myself progressing toward being more like the people I like and who inspire me. Every day, I put forth a lot of effort to get closer to my goal. I envision BS Group as a firm that encourages newcomers to embark on hard positions while also offering a source of income.”
When Rehana Khan and Khushbu Kumari were appointed as Human Resource Managers, it was a defining moment. They were the best the BS Group could have gotten. They took over HR, RECRUITMENT, and other divisions, allowing Anushka to focus on content and me to concentrate on the administrative side. We were able to gain new clients since everything was simplified.
LIFE-LONG MENTORS Mentors are the guiding lights of life. Without them, we are directionless and probably would remain unaware of our potential. The founder shares his gratefulness towards everyone who has been the wind beneath his wings. “ I proudly call myself the son of Mr. Sanjay Singla and Ms. Puja Singla. Without my dad’s support, I could not have achieved even a single milestone in my career. He was always there for me, always guiding me by giving examples of his own experiences. He never really stopped me to pursue my dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Whenever I was under pressure or was facing losses in the business, he was ready to support me both morally and financially. My mother always made sure that I don’t skip my meals and was someone who would always ask if I needed any help from her. My little brother (Kanav) sometimes helped me with some important decisions. My Family celebrated my every little achievement and supported me during my bad times. When others did not believe me, when everyone thought that starting my startup by leaving my job was a bad idea, my family was there with me. I am grateful to Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce for providing me with the kick-start that I needed in my career. The lectures were more than just professors and the various associations and events allowed connecting with a wide variety of people.”
We are progressing as a group today, and watching BS Group succeed today brings tears to my eyes. There have been months when we made no money and when we had no new clients. The team, on the other hand, was there for me.” A DISTINCTIVE APPROACH Workplace culture is something that the BS Group team believes is critical to the company’s success. The cornerstones of our work environment, according to the owner, are flexible work hours for employees, a balanced workload, paid leaves, proper respect for all team members, and respect for the mental situations and circumstances.
“ We have an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding in the company. 99% of our employees are women.” There’s something very interesting that the founder shares talking about the qualities of his employees. “ Every candidate that we hire should possess the quality of ‘Jugaad.’ It comes in handy during any crisis. Our employees should have the basic etiquettes. We do not discriminate if he/she is an amateur as long as the candidate is eager to learn something new. Our employees stand high on perseverance and are excellent team players.”
WORDS OF WISDOM So you think you’ve got what it takes to start your own business? The founder shares some inspiring thoughts for every young entrepreneur looking to build a successful career.
“ It is a journey that I have just recently begun. I have a lot more countries to visit and people to meet. However, based on my current understanding and business experience, I would like to emphasize two important things that might help you succeed as an entrepreneur. • Take chances and trust in yourself. When your legs shake for the first time, don’t give up. This is only the start. • Dreams come true when people work together. This is the golden guideline to remember. Take care of your team, respect your teammates, and your dream will be taken care of by them.”
Appreciation plays a vital role in boosting up the morale of a hard-working employee. Considering this fact, BS Group has a culture of appreciating employees for all the efforts they put in by sending gift hampers every month to top performers. LOOKING FORWARD Going forward the team looks ahead in stepping in diverse sectors. Bhavesh steers, “ We aim at expanding into diverse sectors and in various industries. Curating personalized services at minimal costs with utmost perfection is how we strive towards attaining this dream. We plan on Expanding BS Group’s reach by diving into various industries like IT- App development and 27

Valuable Tips to Avoid Computer Vision Syndrome
To prevent infection from the coronavirus, during the pandemic, people from all sections including business, education, sports, TV, media spent the majority of their time at home. With the work-from-home cultures developing nowadays, in all spheres, people are spending an increasing amount of time on their computer, laptop, tablet, or cell phone. Many that do not work from home but are required to sit at home due to Corona spend the bulk of their time gazing at a phone or television screen. People can encounter problems such as burning or itching in their eyes as a result of this. This affects not only adults and older people, but also children who spend time on tablets or use laptops for school-related activities. According to recent reports, Computer vision syndrome is an eye condition caused by spending long periods in front of a laptop, television, or computer. Because of the corona infection, everyone is at home, and the problem with the eyes has been getting worse in recent months. Otherwise, vision problems can grow if care is not received promptly.
Symptoms of the Syndrome
Over some time, repeated computer usage affects the eyes. While there is no evidence of this at this time, working on a computer screen for 8 to 10 hours a day puts a lot of strain on the eyes, which can cause pain and lead to computer vision syndrome. The following are signs and symptoms of this: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Blurred Vision Double-eye look Reddening of the eyes Eye itching Headache or Migraine Neck or back pain

“Computer Vision Syndrome affects 60 million people worldwide. Computer vision syndrome or digital eye strain causes burning and prickling in the eyes, as well as dryness, heaviness, redness, and trouble holding the eyes open for long periods”.
Doctors agree that people nowadays spend the majority of their time on a computer or laptop for 12 hours. When you read a book, you can get up and go anywhere you want in 30 to 40 minutes, but you can’t do that when working on a computer. For hours, people do not get up. The term “computer vision syndrome” was coined as a result of this. Dry eyes, swollen eyes, watery eyes, and muscle fatigue are all signs of this.
Here are few suggestions for keeping your eyes safe when operating on a tablet or laptop. •
The computer screen should be located directly in front of or just below the eyes. The computer should not be put directly in front of the eyes. The higher the screen is above the eyes, the greater the focus on the eyes would be.
•
Antiglare lenses should always be used while operating on a regular monitor or laptop. Antiglare lenses should be used in the frames of those who wear them. Those that do not have glasses should wear plain antiglare glasses. Antiglare glass can also be used on the computer screen.
•
Every storm hour requires a break, and the eyes should be quickly washed 5 to 10 times to ensure that water enters all regions of the eye and maintains the eyes moist.
If you have an issue with your eyes, see a doctor right away to get medication, so you don’t get a potentially dangerous disease. Perform these eye exercises. • • • •
Do stretching exercises as well as eye exercises. It’s important to keep in mind that the air from the Air Conditioner (AC) should not be directed directly into your eyes. Protect your eyes from some kind of bright light; if there is clear light from a lamp or tube light on the screen; avoid it as it will damage your eyes. When operating on a computer or laptop some people turn off the light. This should not be done. While working on the screen, adequate lighting is needed.
Methods of protection 1.
Visit the doctor if any symptoms remain.
2.
Just wear glasses while working. Wear blue contact lenses or buy a pair of blue-blocking glasses. Do not use your computer, television, or phone in the dark.
3. 4. 5.
Keep your desktop, laptop, and phone at least one and a half feet away from your eyes. Apply eye drops to your eyes if they are dry.
6.
Take regular breaks when working on the computer or laptop. Remove your eyes from the screen after a half-hour break, shut your eyes, and sit for 1-2 minutes to relax your eyes.
7.
Eating Green vegetables (which are high in vitamin A) will help you maintain good eye health. The antioxidant and antiinflammatory effects of the nutrients lutein and zeaxanthin found in green leafy vegetables protect our eyes.

Jeevitam
Listen in: Livelihood seekers and providers now have a solution
Vikas Jain, business partners prior to Jeevitam, got the idea from one of their earlier ventures which actually provided them with the fuel and the idea for Jeevitam. They saw the huge gap that existed in the blue/grey/ white collar livelihood segment and so it was a natural segue to Jeevitam in a sense and after a lot of brainstorming and ideating, the 3 came together and decided to start a venture that would be India’s go-to platform for livelihood. An engineer by qualification, Sridhar worked in Google and ICICI among other corporates before venturing on his own. The cofounders and partners, Munish Chawla and Vikas Jain, also brought their years of experience having worked with ICICI and Citibank and other leading companies. The name Jeevitam in Sanskrit means life and what better name to welcome the millions from the unorganised sector to join the workforce that could transform their lives! Jeevitam has only one focus: to redefine the perception of people towards employment and sustainable livelihood. “During our discussions with our friends and network we realised that hiring people for jobs from the unorganised sector in the informal category was difficult. There seemed to be no formal platform that we could go to, to hire people, quickly and easily,” Says Sridhar.
SINGLE-MINDED FOCUS AND BELIEF
Be it their team, their clients, or their stakeholders, everyone believes in Jeevitam’s vision. What is their vision? It’s simple yet powerful: to be the Google of livelihood, the Amazon of earning. Every initiative, hire or product development decision is driven by this one vision and propelled by one simple question: will this decision move Jeevitam closer to its stated objectives? While Jeevitam hires from India’s premier institutes such as IIMs and IITs, the underlying decision-making question is, do these young aspirants have the belief, and the fire in their belly to go out and change the world with, by and for Jeevitam? Because at Jeevitam, focus and faith are integral to what they do as a team.

Mr. Seshadri was eloquent and touched upon various aspects of Jeevitam and we came away with some exciting food for thought which we are sure, our readers will find enjoyable, insightful and inspirational. Read on. Jeevitam was conceived around 2018-2019 but was officially a company in 2019. Three passionate, ambitious and committed friends, Sridhar Seshadri, Munish Chawla and

JEEVITAM IS DIFFERENT FOR SEVERAL REASONS
Firstly, Jeevitam is an audio-technology driven solution that is available to Indians in 21 Indian languages. The sector that Jeevitam has been designed for does not necessarily have 5G bandwidth or expensive smartphones like the millions residing in urban cities in India. Jeevitam provides easy access without going through an App Store, downloading an app, and trying to understand what to do next. While Jeevitam does have an app, its easy registration process through simple step-by-step instructions that one can hear in the language of their choice makes it convenient, real and lowers the barrier for work seekers. Secondly, work providers find Jeevitam to be the perfect bridge, solving for hire, today. With the Artificial Intelligence data algorithms, organisations seeking to recruit are able to get matched profiles that are curated, validated and relevant. For organisations seeking to hire large numbers, Jeevitam is its 34

Vikas Jain
COO & Co Founder foot solider on the ground, with deep outreach and proves to be a cost-effective and time-saving solution, since sourcing profiles from a rich 16 million database is far more effective than outsourcing to staffing agencies. Jeevitam partners with a large number of CSR arms of organisations and works with them to provide young, skilled but inexperienced people, suitable work opportunities. A large portfolio of clients in Banking, Finance, Insurance and startups, just goes to show that if you go where the opportunities lie and providing a solution, people will adapt and adopt. The culture of a company shapes the organisation. A sensitive, empathetic and people-centric work culture always helps any organisation stay the course and achieve tremendous success. Jeevitam believes in this precept and encourages independent thinking, decision-making and team spirit. “We do not curb ideas from whichever quarter it comes, and no idea is small. Even if it’s as simple as creating a Google Form, or ideas on tech and product improvement, every team member has the freedom to make suggestions,” adds Shridhar.
STARTUP CHALLENGES IN COVID TIMES
Covid-19 has disrupted normal life as we know it. Organisations have been compelled to rewrite the rules of work overnight. However, for startups like Jeevitam, this is just one more challenge that is part of the ongoing journey. Keeping your team motivated and working remotely, meant that
Munish Chawla
CBO & Co Founder the utilisation of digital enablers for collaboration and communication was optimised, which also led to a lot of bonding and camaraderie beyond just work-related discussions and meetings. Fun Fridays over calls, homedelivered pizzas and biryanis, birthday celebrations over Zoom, surprise games and laughter, besides the regular dayto-day operations have ensured that Jeevitam’s family of employees continue to remain inspired and committed to their goals. Also, when any of the team members or their respective family members were diagnosed with Covid-19, Jeevitam focused on the wellbeing of the employee and did not institute salary cuts or leave cuts, which only brought everyone closer together and instilled a sense of kinship. “Challenges are part and parcel of life and it’s no different in the life of a start-up and its team” Adds Sridhar. There will always be Catch-22 questions such as— revenue growth vs marketing budgets, hiring vs investment in technology and so on. And though decision-making is hard, it is easy when you’re guided by your unshakeable belief in the founding principle of the company. All the founders of Jeevitam are unwavering in their mission which propels them to make sometimes difficult decisions, prioritising different aspects as required. “I do believe that entrepreneurship is a team sport and being decisive, assertive and yet taking people along with decisions is what has helped Jeevitam grow and establish itself as India’s premier livelihoods solutions platform,” commented Sridhar. 35
Jeevitam works with several CSR departments of large companies such as IBM SkillsBuild or Deshpande Foundation. When you reflect upon what Jeevitam is trying to do, you realise that Jeevitam can in fact be considered a social impact cause, as it deals with one of the most basic things required for the wellbeing of human lives – livelihood. For more than a year now, Jeevitam has been conducting Virtual Work Fairs addressing different sectors including Startups, MSMEs, BFSI, Rural, and women empowerment which are 100% free for work seekers as there is zero registration cost and no hidden commissions, and the same holds true for companies leveraging Jeevitam’s platform to serve their hiring needs. With more than 30,000 calls per day, and as many as 18,000 pin codes covered in India, Jeevitam has helped provide gainful employment to thousands in the last 8-9 months. It is no surprise that Jeevitam is being hailed as the Tech Startup of the Year, given its path-breaking idea and its mission to achieve #MissionLivelihoodforAll. This has been vindicated by the several accolades that have recognised Jeevitam’s goal including being declared as the “Emerging Company of the Year 2021” award by Indian Achievers Forum, and winning the Silver for Tech Startup of the Year 2021 at the internationally acclaimed Stevie awards, beating over 2000 applicants. Today, more than ever, the question of livelihood and meaningful work is the moot question for everyone as we all grapple with the future of work in an unpredictable and volatile world. But Jeevitam seems relentless in its mission to change the conversation around livelihood and make it available for all. “For each of us, our paths are different. Perhaps the one binding factor for most entrepreneurs is the belief in their idea and the faith to see it through. If you’re setting out to be an entrepreneur, remember it’s lonely and hard. Be pragmatic, and don’t feel ashamed of failing, but at the same time, like Steve Jobs said, stay hungry and stay foolish.” -Sridhar Seshadri, Founder and CEO

CORPORATE SERVICES Creating jobs for Rural Youth Indranil Roy | Business Connect
DILEEP M Director
I
f we can train rural youth and make them ready for jobs, instead of being a drain on resources, large numbers of young people will bring social transformation and economic progress. Rural youth assist in resolving the global food issue if we invest in them. If rural youth have jobs, it slows down urban migration and decreases the physical and social strain on cities. An educated and trained youth might boost agricultural development outcomes. But for all these, we need to understand what opportunities do young people have and how can they improve the agricultural and agri-business sectors? What are the rural youth non-agricultural opportunities? How can incentives and ambitions of young people be matched with these broad aims for development? Dileep M, the director of Right Track Corporate Services, emphasizes the significance of helping rural youth to increase demand for labor and services.
“Young people are critical to the growth of rural regions. Trying to engage rural youngsters in economic pursuits would assist India in reaping the demographic dividend.” quotes Dileep. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition September 2021 INDIA
WHY FOCUS ON RURAL ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES?
A huge number of jobless young people in developing nations are living in abject poverty, unable to provide for their homes and with bleak prospects for the future. This group of sometimes well-educated, dissatisfied people contributes to global political instability. A large number of younger people, on the other hand, can provide inventive, adaptable, and productive employees that lead to better economic growth and development. The nature and implications of crises and opportunities differ in rural regions from those in metropolitan settings.
The founder quotes “ In a Sense, there are lots of opportunities in Soft services and facility management projects like property Management, and with respect Contract labor verticals” He believes that nations must make a fairly fast decision: provide job possibilities, particularly in rural regions, and reap the demographic rewards of a young, energetic population, or risk social discontent and civil unrest associated with high rates of youth poverty. According to him rural communities are struggling to create opportunities for their youngsters and are losing them. This has far-reaching 38
implications at the regional, state, and national levels. It has the potential to undermine economic systems, social stability, and human health.
Dileep steers “ Team of Right Track has attended over 1000 job fairs and gathered a large candidate database. Right Track Corporate Services’ USP is its massive workforce database. So, when a customer contacts Right Track Corporate Services for recruiting services, they rarely waste time and deliver a solution far ahead of schedule. They have built a name not via marketing, but through effective business practices.” THE INSIDE STORY
Right Track Corporate Service was founded in 2012 in Bangalore by Dileep M, who set out to assist rural youngsters in finding work. Dileep felt the anguish of financial problems long ago in his career, throughout his college days. Dileep worked in high-level corporate roles before quitting them because he was committed to assisting the country’s jobless youth in obtaining proper and acceptable employment.
eager to learn. As people stay at home and work, the availability of local opportunities allows them to save more money. Our staff has shown a great deal of enthusiasm for their jobs.
“I believe that all of these give us greater cause to work towards the upliftment of rural youth.. Yes, this is hard and requires willpower to dedicate your life towards such a fantastic cause.” quotes the founder. MEET THE FOUNDER- AN ORDINARY MAN WITH EXTRAORDINARY DREAMS
I am an ordinary guy with extraordinary dreams, aspiring to build an inclusive community, says Dileep. He was born in a small town near Hassan, Karnataka, spent a large part of his formative years where English medium schools were non-existent, and basic city benefits like electricity and infrastructure were a blessing.
“It is still considered a privilege at my birthplace for kids to be gifted with bicycles, smartphones, iPad and laptop, to support their learning,” says he. He continues, “ as a kid, I was told that only three professions existed, engineer, doctor or civil services, anything else was not valuable enough to pursue. Yet I dreamt to be different and aspired to become an actor, without support from my family and landed up in Bangalore to explore my options in theatre. Coming from a farmer family, I had to first work to sponsor my dreams. 17 years old, started working as a Housekeeping boy. My family didn’t have much money to afford good institute study so I had to work as a Housekeeping boy & as a security guard. I completed my post-graduation and started working in an MNC company in the Human Resources function. It was this humble beginning that forced me to think beyond how I could help the rural youths to earn and simultaneously complete their education in cities. My noble philosophies pushed me harder to build a successful career and start my own venture. That is how Right Track Corporate Services was born because I decided to wade through the mud. With an initial capital of Rs. 2 lakh, from my savings and with the unrelenting support of my wife Keerthi, we took the risk and ventured into creating employment opportunities for our rural youth. The unemployment rate of Karnataka is approximately 26.3, of which 8.3% are high school and college dropouts.”
The founder believes that more corporates should join as social entrepreneurs as it gives immense joy to bring about a difference in the life of people and being a change element for your nation.
He quotes, “If you want to make a difference in your community, here is the place to be. The job is difficult, but as you progress down the path, you will meet a slew of like-minded individuals who will gladly assist you. The joy of making a difference and gaining the goodwill of many people makes it all worthwhile!” At the end of our conversation, Dileep shares a message for young people working hard to build a successful future. Work hard, since success does not come easily. It’s a long and steep climb to your vision, but only you can see it, so don’t be too hard on yourself. When you start climbing, you’ll quickly discover you’re on a never-ending journey. Rather than aiming for perfection, strive for continuous progress.
Dileep thinks that young people in rural regions confront more problems than their urban counterparts as a broad population category. He says that reduced education and physical resources, very few employment options, bigger and more powerful cultural differences around age and gender, relatively low availability to transportation systems and computer technology, decreased access to health services in general and relatively weak market segments are a few of the factors that pull the rural youth down. But he says that the youngsters in rural areas are extremely motivated and gifted. It’s all in preparation. Skilling takes longer to develop, but once they are up to speed, there is no going back for them. There are plenty of good folks who are 39

Education
Education Has Put off Physical Classrooms and Shifted to Online Classes The best days were when schools and colleges were open and students were seen rushing to school in neat and tidy uniforms with bags in their shoulders and sometimes running with those heavy bags to not get late. After reaching school, to stand for morning prayers and then some physical activities, after that straight to the classrooms filled with our classmates. The same way for college, when students were always confused with what to wear today, what period to bunk and go to the canteen, etc. Those days now seem to be just a memory to cherish. An education center is the best public policy tool available to raise skills. While school/ college time can be fun along with raising social skills and social awareness if we look from an economic point of view the primary point of being in school/college was that it helped in increasing a child’s ability. But the arrival of COVID-19 has led to the departure of students going to education centers. Well! we say a coin has its two sides, the same way this too has both good and bad impressions but let’s just go for a positive version because 2020 has brought us enough negative things. Whatever the condition comes, one should never stop learning, and if one way of going to an educational center is closed than open another way of e-learning. The arrival of Covid-19 has forced schools and universities across the world to put off physical classrooms and shifted to online classes. While the faculty deals with the new ways of managing this sudden transition to online education, students are left clinging on to their mobile phones and computer screens.
FUTURE EDUCATION SYSTEM

email. For India, this seems to be a good opportunity to strengthen internet connectivity across rural India. It will help every village and town to be digitally connected for the better interaction between the students and teachers. When it comes to the students some are quick at adapting this system and some take a little longer time to acquaint with this system. Fundamental structural changes should be made in the curriculum/syllabi and programs should be a part of the curriculum in engineering and science degree programs. This will help in creating future entrepreneurs and this can be one way to help beat unemployment and increase business skills amongst the youth. The business community should play a foremost role in this new educational system. Higher education in India needs to be more international but more locally connected and socially responsible, more flexible(curriculum), should be innovative and open for more collaboration. Innovative models should be introduced, Universities/institutes could be online that would provide internet-based flexible offerings.
The Post Covid-19 is an opportunity we look forward to transforming the higher education system. Institutes/ Universities should definitely utilize this opportunity to transform itself. the focus should be more on internationalizing higher education as today we are facing Covid-19 but no one knows what lies ahead in the future for millions of youngsters. 48
