Woman Abuse Prevention Month – Wear a purple scarf.
It is every woman’s fundamental right to live in safety and security in her home and community – free from the threat of violence.
For more than 25 years, Ontario has recognized November as Woman Abuse Prevention Month in an effort to shed light on domestic and sexual violence against women. Women’s shelters across Ontario are embarking on the Purple Scarf Campaign – encouraging everyone to wear a purple scarf to show their support for the many women who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence. In Dufferin & Caledon, scarves will be available at participating locations (below). The community is invited to attend a December 6 vigil to mark Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Together, we will remember those who have lost their lives to violence – simply because they were women. For more information, visit familytransitionplace.ca.
