LATEST INFORMATION, INITIATIVES AND FINANCIAL REPORT
I am so proud of our Team. At the heart of every great Organization is the people who represent the values we choose to live out both internally and externally in all we do. That is what gives me the greatest joy about our Team.
Firstly, an employee, one day when talking to a person who had requested a tour said, âyou know, every member of our team is a little broken. That is why we are all here.â I agree, including me. âBrokenâ, means that we have all experienced hardship in our own way, mostly without others even knowing. I believe that is why Grace abounds at Family Promise. Working with families is hard but creates overwhelming joy when done with Grace and love.

2023 was a great year for Programmatic impact and financial strength. The credit goes to an outstanding Team who understands that challenges are what make us better and why our family: staff, clients, and donors are everything. I choose to praise God for this family, whom I am blessed as well to serve.
Truly blessed,

TED TAYLOR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
When a family loses their home, they face more than just the loss of a roof over their heads. They can lose their sense of direction, identity, and hope for the future. Thatâs when Family Promise steps in, offering comprehensive support to the entire familyâincluding their beloved pets. We greet each family with compassion, providing a listening ear, access to resources, employment assistance, financial literacy, and tenancy skills trainingâall aimed at helping them regain permanent, stable housing.

Through our Prevention Program, we assist at-risk families with past-due rent, deposit support, and utility payments, helping them stay in their homes and avoid the trauma of homelessness.

We ensure families stay togetherâincluding their petsâ because in times of crisis, the strength of being together fosters success. By partnering with faith congregations, we provide family-style meals, activities, and private bedrooms for each family.

When a family transitions into permanent housing, our support continues for up to 24 months. Through ongoing case management, emergency assistance, employment counseling, and financial coaching, we empower families to achieve selfsufficiency and maintain stable housing.

We believe that fostering a love of reading in children is key to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Our literacy program, dedicated to the youngest members of our community, provides essential support to both shelter families and graduates.
In our emergency shelters, weekly volunteer-led reading sessions bring comfort and joy to children facing instability. These sessions spark imaginations and build essential language skills, offering a sense of normalcy during challenging times. For families who have transitioned out of shelter, we continue to nurture their childrenâs literacy through birthday books and reading contests.
These initiatives celebrate the joy of reading and encourage children to set and achieve goals, reinforcing their confidence and academic success. Our literacy program is about more than just readingâitâs about empowering children to dream big and succeed. By nurturing a love of reading, we equip them with the tools to excel in school and life, helping to break the cycle of homelessness. This work wouldnât be possible without our volunteers, donors, and community partners. Your support brings the joy of reading to the children who need it most, laying the foundation for a brighter future.

When a family graduates from our shelter program and moves into a permanent home, our commitment to their success doesnât end. We continue to support them for up to 24 months, recognizing that the transition to stability is often the most critical period. Our holistic approach is designed to ensure that families not only remain housed but also thrive in their new environments. Every 60 days, our Graduate Director reaches out to graduate families to assess their progress and ensure they are on track to achieve their goals. These regular check-ins allow us to provide guidance during difficult times, addressing any challenges that may arise as they adjust to independent living. Whether it's helping navigate unexpected financial hurdles or offering advice on parenting concerns, our team is there every step of the way.
To further assist with their journey, we provide monthly food bags to help alleviate any financial strain, ensuring that no family has to choose between paying bills and putting food on the table. This consistent support is a lifeline for many families as they work toward self-sufficiency. We also understand the importance of nurturing a love for learning among children, which is why we stay connected with them through our Literacy Program.
This initiative celebrates each childâs birthday by gifting them a new book, fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning. By encouraging literacy, we aim to break the cycle of homelessness by equipping the next generation with the tools they need for success.
These resources are crucial in helping families build a stable foundation, achieve self-sufficiency, and maintain their housing long-term.
At Family Promise, we believe that a home is just the beginning. By providing continuous support and fostering a strong community connection, we empower families to overcome obstacles and build a brighter future for themselves and their children.

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.

Family Promise is proud to announce that 2023 has been a record-breaking year for our shelter program. We have served 180 families across five sites, marking the highest number of families we've ever assisted in a single year. Our commitment to providing safe and supportive housing has never been stronger, and we are thrilled to share our successes with you.
One of the standout achievements of our program is the 70% success rate for parents securing employment and long-term housing. This remarkable outcome is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers and the effectiveness of our comprehensive support services. Together, we equip families with the tools they need to rebuild their lives.
In 2023, we observed a slight increase in the number of families needing shelter services throughout the Valley. Despite this growing demand, Family Promise has risen to the challenge and remains one of the top providers in the region. Our ability to adapt and expand our services has been crucial in meeting the needs of our community.
As we reflect on the accomplishments of 2023, we are inspired by the resilience and determination of the families we serve. Family Promise is excited to share the progress of the Village Project, a 6-unit, 2-bedroom complex designed to support families transitioning from our emergency shelter program. Located in one of the largest eviction zones in Maricopa County, this project addresses the critical need for stable housing in an area plagued by high eviction rates.
Families in the Village Project receive continued support to save money, practice cash flow management skills, and develop good tenancy habits. This extended assistance helps them secure stable employment, increase their savings, and foster a sense of community.

The focus on good tenancy skills ensures that families not only maintain their current housing but also prepare for long-term success in future rental situations. By breaking the cycle of eviction and homelessness, the Village Project is creating sustainable solutions and providing a lifeline for families striving for a better future.
We are deeply grateful to our donors and partners who have made this project possible. Your support is transforming lives and giving families the opportunity to thrive. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We look forward to sharing more updates on the Village Project and celebrating the achievements of the families we serve.
