Buckmore Park... legendary news! Motorsport legend John Surtees has bought Buckmore Park Kart Circuit for an undisclosed sum, reinforcing the Kent track’s link with Formula 1. The Edenbridge-based businessman, who won the F1 championship in 1964, has taken control of the two companies based at the course where champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button learned their trade. Lewis Hamilton was discovered at Buckmore Park by McLaren in 1996. Mr Surtees, 81, who is the only man to win world championships on both motorcycles and cars, plans to build an Education Centre on the site. www.buckmore.co.uk

Adopting a Bexley child Andrew’s story... Andrew spotted the advert for the Bexley adoption open day. Having made the decision to become parents we were uncertain about what to do next, so it was a perfect opportunity to go along and find out. “We were nervous about what question to ask or if we’d be the only two men in the room, but after five minutes with one of the social workers we felt much more comfortable. We were given clear information, and able to ask all of the questions we had. The standard of help and support we received at that first meeting was the same throughout our entire adoption experience. It’s not all been easy. The two stage process included lots of form filling, training days and lots of questions about our lives and why we wanted to be parents. At the same time it’s been one of the most interesting and satisfying experiences that we’ve been through together. Our two Bexley social workers, one for each stage, have been really supportive over the last nine months. That’s all it has taken from start to our adoption panel, who gave us their unanimous approval. Now we are in the matching stage, and can’t wait to become dads”. Bromley High middle school music tour to Paris Recently 60 girls from Years 6 and 7 set off on the Middle school Music Tour to Paris. There were plenty of opportunities to perform, to go sightseeing, to practise French speaking skills learnt in the classroom and to shop! The girls performed at a community centre, in a beautiful church and on the stage at Disneyland. They visited the bustling Montmartre area, took a boat trip down the River Seine and went on some of the Disney rides. All in four days! The three choirs, the instrumental ensemble and the soloists all performed beautifully and all the girls were excellent ambassadors for the school throughout the trip.
