One of the greatest blessings we receive at Faith Radio is hearing how God uses this ministry to encourage, strengthen, and transform lives. HAVING QUIET TIME

In a noisy and distracted world, quiet time with the Lord is not just helpful, but it is essential for a Christ follower! Jesus often withdrew to secluded places to pray, reminding us that spiritual strength is built in moments of stillness before God. Quiet time is where our hearts slow down, our minds are renewed, and our spirits become sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Many respected Christian leaders have emphasized that time in God’s Word and prayer is the foundation for a strong Christian life. Meditating on scripture feeds our souls, praying deepens our relationship with God, and listening quietly allows us to reflect on what He may be teaching us. Often, God speaks not through loud interruptions, but through gentle reminders, conviction, peace, and truth from His Word. He longs for us to grow our intimacy with Him.
One of the best ways to improve your quiet time is to make it intentional. Set aside a consistent time and place each day. Below are a few tips for your quiet time, including removing distractions. Yes, we recommend you sometimes turn Faith Radio off so you can focus directly on the Lord. Don’t forget to tune back in to Faith Radio, to help keep your mind on things above and grow your Bible knowledge!

The National Day of Prayer is a meaningful day in our communities as believers gathered to worship and seek God’s guidance for our nation and its leaders.
Prayer walks join believers across our communities in prayer while also encouraging the next generation to pray for our leaders and country.
OPENING THE WORD A CHALLENGE TO BIBLICAL LITERACY

“I have become increasingly convinced that the central problem confronting both church and culture is not merely moral rebellion against biblical truth, but widespread unfamiliarity with it.”
Those are the words of Troy Miller, President and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), of which Faith Radio is a member. NRB has been calling attention to the issue of Biblical illiteracy. Faith Radio programmer Chuck Swindoll, heard weekdays at 9:00 a.m. on Insight for Living has written: “We have Scripture in hardback, paperback, cloth, and leather . . . versions and paraphrases too numerous to count . . . red-letter editions, large-print versions, big as dictionaries and small as microchips . . . yet the years roll by as one generation after another passes on its biblical illiteracy.”
The Back to the Bible Scripture Absorption and Life Transformation (SALT) Index in 2025 showed the following:
• Nearly 50% of Americans engage Scripture zero days per week;
• 35% engage Scripture regularly;
• Only 21% engage Scripture at a level historically associated with life transformation.
However, there are promising signs regarding Bible reading. A Barna Group study released in 2025 showed that 42% of Americans read the Bible
weekly. That percentage is 50% among self-identified Christians, but a report on the survey organization’s website noted: “While more Americans are reading the Bible, they are less likely to fully endorse the accuracy of its teachings. In 2000, 43 percent strongly agreed that the Bible is totally accurate in the principles it teaches. That number fell below 40 percent in recent years but now sits at 36 percent. Even among selfidentified Christians, only 44 percent strongly affirm the Bible’s accuracy.”
The American Bible Society’s (ABS) State of the Bible 2026 survey shows that, after a spike in Bible engagement in 2025, it has returned to 2024 levels. According to the data, 17% of Americans surveyed indicated they were “Scripture-engaged.” Fifty-five percent of respondents indicated they were not Bible users. In its report on the survey data, the ABS report also notes “growth in the Movable Middle, a group of people who are open to and even curious about the Bible, but don’t regularly engage it.”
The Society report also notes: “Though only about one in six Americans (17%) say they have read
the whole Bible, half of Americans say they’ve read half of the Bible or more. Nearly two-thirds (64%) of those who strongly agree that “the message of the Bible has transformed my life” have read most or all of the Bible. When people experience the gospel, they want the Bible.”
Troy Miller of NRB describes Biblical illiteracy as “a civilizational crisis,” adding, “The American experiment did not arise in a moral vacuum, nor was it sustained by constitutional procedure alone. While the Founders did not establish a confessional state, they operated within a moral framework deeply shaped by biblical assumptions about human nature, justice, sin, restraint, authority, duty, and accountability. Scripture furnished not only private devotion, but also a shared moral vocabulary through which public life could be understood.” Miller goes on to say: “The answer to the present crisis is a recovery of Scripture as Scripture: not as civil religion, partisan ornament, or a reservoir of selectively quoted affirmations, but as the authoritative Word of God, rightly handled and faithfully taught. The church must recover the whole counsel of God. Christians must once again become a people formed by the text, governed by its categories, and trained in theological discernment.”

THE BIBLE SPEAKS The Meeting House Encourages God’s People to Digest the Word

The Meeting House on Faith Radio exists to help God’s people apply the principles of scripture to every area of life. In 2 Peter 3:18, we’re called to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (ESV). Growth like that doesn’t happen by accident; it requires making the Word of God a priority, a pattern, and a practice.
A
Priority Growth begins with priority. Psalm 119:130 reminds us that “the unfolding of your words gives light” (ESV). Recently, John Pudaite, President of Bibles for the World, joined me to talk about GO Day, which is a massive effort on May 23 to distribute the Gospel of John around the globe through the Go Movement. Whether the Word is reaching someone across the world, down the street, in our homes, or in our own hearts, it carries the same potential: to change lives.
A Pattern
Priority alone isn’t enough. The Word must also become a pattern, something we build our lives around. That means regularly sitting under sound Bible teaching, and Faith Radio offers a strong lineup to help with that, available on-air, online, and on demand. Faith comes by hearing God’s Word, and our programming is designed with that in mind: to help you grow, day after day. That pattern also means making time
for Bible study, both individually and in community. I recently spoke with Leslie Frazier, Assistant Head Coach of the Seattle Seahawks, who told me about a group of NFL coaches who have met together for more than 25 years, working through devotional material from Scripture Union. Decade after decade, these men have found instruction and power for their lives through consistent, shared study of God’s Word.
A Practice
Finally, the Word must become a practice. It’s not enough to know the principles we read; by the Spirit’s leading, we must actually live them out. James 1:22 puts it plainly: “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only” (ESV). Arnie Cole of Back to the Bible spoke with me about a disconnect he often sees between what people say they believe and how they actually live.
That disconnect is worth taking seriously. But so is the promise on the other side of it: when the seed of God’s Word takes root in our hearts, it yields real spiritual fruit, to His glory.

IN MEMORY OF GLENN COOK
On June 17, longtime Faith Radio board member Glenn Cook entered the presence of his Savior at the age of 88. For 26 years, Glenn faithfully served on the Faith Radio Board of Directors and was a tremendous blessing to our ministry.
Glenn loved his church, his community, and the mission of sharing the Gospel. He made countless trips from Andalusia to Montgomery because he was committed to seeing the message of Jesus Christ reach thousands of people each day. Faith Radio broadcasts in Andalusia and the surrounding areas through WSTF (FM 91.5). He was instrumental in helping Faith Radio grow in Covington County and beyond. His faithful influence will continue to bear fruit for years to come. We thank God for Glenn’s life, his friendship, and his unwavering commitment to this ministry. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4 that we are to equip God’s people to do His work and build His Kingdom. The goal of our ministry is to use the accessible tool of radio to help you grow in Christ. Faith Radio is like a discipling institute open all day, every day so that you can tune in for Christian education. Perhaps you are needing a refresher course on parenting or marriage?
