While we focus on being financially sustainable and keeping rates low, we’re looking forward to building and installing the $80.1 million worth of exciting capital works programs scheduled for this 2026/2027 financial year.

This includes highlights such as work on the design of an impressive Community and Events Centre at Fairfield Showground, as well as embellishment of open space at Brenan Park, Smithfield; Longfield Park, Cabramatta; and Allambie Park, Bossley Park, among others.

These are significant projects that will be here for residents and families to enjoy for decades to come.

Our ‘everyday’ projects and services are just as important for your health and wellbeing and the liveability of our City.

That’s why we are investing millions of dollars over the next year in upgrades to roads and transport ($18.1 million); playgrounds, sportsfields and open space ($14.8 million); public buildings ($3.2 million); and new and upgraded footpaths ($2.3 million). I’m proud of our work over the past few

years and we are committed to getting on with the job of providing the best services and facilities for the families and businesses of our thriving City, while also working hard to be financially sustainable and keep our rates low.

Investing in our community 2026/2027

Residents will benefit from exciting asset improvements as well as a strong and innovative program of Council works for the financial year ahead. Council will continue to deliver quality services and projects, creating jobs and valuable infrastructure that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come.

MAJOR PROJECTS UPDATE

Fairfield Showground Community and Events Centre

Located in the heart of Fairfield Showground, the Community and Events Centre will become a landmark destination for concerts, celebrations, and indoor sporting events.

The facility will support a wide range of uses including exhibitions, performances, cultural events, community celebrations, conferences, sporting activities, and private functions.

This $60 million project is proudly funded by the NSW Government in partnership with Fairfield City Council, with $32 million invested by Council and $28 million provided through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program. Visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov. au/ShowgroundCEC for more.

Brenan Park Playground

Exciting plans are underway for a new destination playground at Brenan Park, Smithfield, which will see the popular sports field provide endless opportunities for adventurous play and imaginative exploration.

The $5 million project, proudly funded by the NSW Government in partnership with Fairfield City Council, is designed to cater to all ages and abilities with features such as:

• Main play tower: a striking 7.6-metre high tower with slides and climbing elements.

• Inclusive play equipment: accessibility will be a key focus to ensure every child can enjoy the space, together with water play and cooling zone.

• Plus a flying fox, swings and spinners and shaded tree cover and picnic areas.

The new playground will transform Brenan Park into a vibrant hub for recreation and social connection.

We are continuing to make our city centres attractive places to live, work and visit with a $1.2 million investment in town centre beautification.

A range of works are scheduled over this financial year including wall art murals, public art decals for utility infrastructure, signage, more planter boxes and pavement upgrades.

This is all in addition to our regular schedule of grass mowing and garden maintenance, street sweeping, litter removal and planting of approximately 23,000 new trees and plants across the City.

Russell Edwards

For nearly five decades, Russell Edwards has been a pillar of the Fairfield City community. He has served as a Justice of the Peace since 1989 and is a life member of the City of Fairfield Garden Club managing their website and coordinating events.

Father Anthony Fregolent

Father Anthony Fregolent has devoted more than 55 years to pastoral service, leaving an enduring legacy in Fairfield City. He transformed the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Mt Pritchard parish into a vibrant hub of faith and support. His compassion has touched countless lives across Fairfield City.

AROUND OUR CITY

Frank Carbone recognised a truly inspiring group of young people who are making a meaningful difference across our community at the 2026 Mayor's Youth Achievement Awards in June.

Mayor Frank Carbone attended the official opening of Harri's Edible Garden at Harrington Street Public School in June.

Our City's senior citizens joined us on bus tours visiting Council facilities across the City in June.

Happy birthday to local resident Zorka who turned 100 in June. She has called Canley Vale and Fairfield West home for many years.

Mayor Frank Carbone attended the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser at Cabravale Club Resort in June.

Mayor Frank Carbone addressed the large crowd at the Italian Republic Day celebrations at Club Marconi in May.

We celebrated Refugee Week with performances, stories and stalls at the Fairfield Youth and Community Centre in June.

Local residents microchipped their puppies for free at our dog microchipping day in June.

Mayor Frank Carbone recognised five Salvation Army Fairfield West volunteers for outstanding effort, many of them for over 10 years.

Happy birthday to Regina, who turned 100 in June. Mayor Frank Carbone joined Regina and her family to celebrate her milestone.

History Week

Council is celebrating History Week (5-13 September) with an exciting line-up of programs for people of all ages and interests.
