There are THREE backup power options that we are offering the faircape villages, each option is detailed below.

INTEGRATED · Wired into existing home electrical reticulation · Sockets / Light will automatically switch over when main power fails
MECER 1.4 kW BBONE INSTALLATION (Most affordable option able to power TV, DSTV box, 5 Led lights, wifi router for 2.5 hours) Recharge time 50% - 100% : 12 hours The Bbone is a complete inverter and battery unit, the inverter and batteries are installed inside the unit. A new emergency DB will be installed, complete with circuit breakers and an isolator. The circuits are then transferred to the inverter supply.
MECER AXPERT 3kW INVERTER INSTALLATION
KODAK 5kW INVERTER INSTALLATION
(This option able to power TV, DSTV box, 5 Led lights, wifi router for 5 hours) Recharge time 10% - 100% : 3 hours The Mecer inverter option will be mounted on the wall, a bracket will be installed to house the batteries. A new emergency DB will be installed, complete with circuit breakers and a change over switch. Selected plug and light circuits are then transferred to the inverter supply. (except the kitchen).

A new emergency DB will be installed, complete with circuit breakers and a change over switch. All plug and light circuits are then transferred to the inverter supply. (except the kitchen) The advantage of the kodak inverter is the ability to power more appliances. Aswell has a larger battery capacity.
BATTERY SELECTION Each inverter has the option the be installed with higher quality lithium batteries or lead acid batteries.

Due to the frequency of load shedding cycles, the lead acid batteries cannot replace the energy into the batteries before the next load shedding cycle. This depletes the battery which can cause permanent damages to the battery. With lithium batteries this is not a problem, as the lithium batteries can be depleted without causing serious harm to the battery. Typically lithium batteries can last up to 10 years whereas lead acid only lasts 1 - 2 years, this means that lithium batteries will work out cheaper over time.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT FOR EXISTING BBONE INSTALLATIONS The battery replacement prices for existing installations How to tell if you need to replace the batteries? If during a power outage, the batteries run out of power and the lights turn off, this means that the batteries have reached the end of their life and need to be replaced, as the battery capacity will only continue to decrease.
