Committed to excellence
OUR REHAB TEAM The Story Behind Our Team Tokai Physiotherapy Inc was established in 2021 by Marchelle Lake and Megan Bezuidenhout. Our practice upholds the highest standards of care and is committed to efficacy and an evidence based, innovative approach to physical rehabilitation. Our team is comprised of 6 dynamic physiotherapists boasting over 35 years of combined experience. We make a significant and positive impact on people’s lives through caring, healing and empowering. We treat every patient with dignity and respect. Our physiotherapists believe that every patient is unique. That’s why we conduct thorough first evaluations to ensure treatment programmes are equally unique. It’s our goal to treat not only the symptoms but the underlying cause. Our vision remains to build an all-inclusive environment with a patient-centered approach and utilize the various disciplines in-house to provide the highest possible level of care.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT? Each physiotherapist has a special interest within physiotherapy and has the ambition to thrive and excel within their field. We run 6 main departments within the practice each with a lead physiotherapist that is highly skilled and trained to offer effective patient centred care in line with international guidelines.

CANCER REHABILITATION “If you get tired, learn to rest not to quit” Cancer rehabilitation is a form of rehabilitation that helps people with cancer or recovering from cancer to maintain, improve and restore their physical and emotional well-being. This form of rehabilitation focuses on reducing or eliminating side-effects of cancer treatment and improving survivors’ strength, ability to function and quality of life. At Tokai Physiotherapy, we are passionate about helping people improve their level of function, give them back their independence and improve their quality of life.
OUR APPROACH Following an initial complex assessment, the treating physiotherapist will develop a custom tailored treatment plan specific to the patient’s needs. This may involve prehabilitation (these are all interventions prior to starting cancer treatment) and then rehabilitation as well as supportive rehabilitation (the therapy received during or post cancer treatments). Lastly, at the end/advanced stage of the disease we offer palliative care/rehabilitation.
