Newsletter BTCC 2016 Season Update.
Silverstone 18th August Despite some strong finishing positions in the last few races, Adam hasn’t managed to grab a top 3 spot since Thruxton in May where he secured 1st, 3rd and 3rd respectively. As the end of the championship gets closer, Adam was desperate for some really positive results at Silverstone to be in the running for the top spot. After a solid qualifying spot of 5th on the grid, Adam was engaged in a tough battle with Rob Austin’s Toyota for 3rd place after disqualifications for MG drivers Ash Sutton and Josh Cook. After a nail biting fight, Adam finished 4th in the first race. Race 2 saw an initial lead from Tom Ingram’s Toyota but the soft tyre choice left him flagging on the 7th lap. This gave Andrew Jordan the opportunity to steal the lead with Adam moving up close behind him. The leading two drivers soon picked up the pace and finished with a comfortable lead over Tom Ingram in the third spot. Happy with 2nd position Adam had this to say: “It’s amazing at this point in the championship to get a result like that, we’re looking to climb our way up the table with a good points haul here.” The final Silverstone race turned in to a real battle for much needed points ahead of the season finale at Brand Hatch. Adam put in a top performance but was denied a decent position thanks to a drive through penalty for exceeding track limits. Adam ended up in 23rd position. After this weekend at Silverstone, Adam is now in 9th position in the overall standings and 3rd in both the Independent driver and team standings. The next and final race of the season will be hosted at Brands Hatch on the 2nd October.

Steering and Suspension • • • •
All FAI steering products are catephoresis coated to protect from corrosion, something that salting and gritting of the roads exacerbates. Our steering products are stringently tested to OE standards to ensure durability and strength. Coil Springs •

This is another part of the vehicle that road salt negatively impacts. After time, the spring coating corrodes away, exposing the metal spring beneath. Once there is exposure, a chemical reaction between the salt and iron in the spring causes microscopic cracks. The cold weather can make the spring brittle, leading to complete failure of the part. FAI springs have a manganese phosphate powder coating and epoxy polyester treatment to minimise any corrosion. We have over 300 coil springs in range.

Gaskets and Seals •

When the temperature drops, all engine sealing is compromised due to materials being subjected to thermal stress. They then become more susceptible to hostile environment induced failure. Head gasket sales also increase considerably in the winter months due to a combination of cracked heads and blocks caused by sub zero temperatures and poor maintenance. Our gasket range is the largest in the aftermarket and offers the best European and Asian coverage. We use OE specification materials and also offer MLS and SLS technology gaskets. Our range includes over 12,000 part numbers.
Water Pumps •

Many people fail to keep the anti-freeze levels in their coolant mix correct during winter months. This leads to thicker coolant fluid; something that the water pump must work harder to circulate around the engine. This extra strain compromises every component of the pump including seals. The rubber seals involved with the water pump are also susceptible to the thermal stress caused by freezing weather. Our water pumps use OE spec bearings and seals, including silicone carbide for the best reliability. We have over 400 part numbers covering 4000+ vehicle applications.
