The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 is a prestigious award that ranks the highest achieving UK companies based on international growth. FAI were ranked 143rd in an article published in the Sunday times, which is viewed by 3 million readers; a figure that encompasses 54% of the business elite audience.

The official honours ceremony for both the Queens award and the International Track 200 will be held towards the end of the summer, where ceremonial plaques and trophy’s will be presented to Sean Walker – Managing Director.
Having already won the Queens Award for Enterprise earlier in the year, this honour continues to cement the power of the FAI brand on an international scale. A trend that FAI are working hard to continue by establishing a European distribution hub that will greatly benefit a broadening customer base. This being as much a celebration as a chance to discuss strategy and exchange ideas with other business leaders. 2018 is shaping up to be a very important year in the life of FAI and with substantial investment both within the UK and beyond, the future is looking bright for FAI and its customers alike.

Q. How did you feel when you first saw FAI in 143rd place? A. It’s an honour and a privilege to receive recognition as one of the fastest growing UK exporters. I think that the award helps communicate to our customers that they’re in safe hands, able to rely on a professional organization. Personally, it’s always nice to see your efforts and that of your team, rewarded. I’d like to say a big thankyou to our Export team and I have to extend this gratitude to our loyal customers, without which, achievements like this wouldn’t be possible. Q. Why have FAI put more focus on Export? A. Access to the world market is essential for businesses to thrive within a highly competitive commercial arena. Our Export sales have increased year on year, averaging out at 35% growth, which now equates to 50% of our yearly sales; this has a strong positive effect on our buying power that, in turn, enables us to offer our UK customers a keen price. Q. What is it about FAI product that keeps customers coming back? A. The quality of our product is the main driver in our gains across Europe and beyond. Without that, all the strategising under the sun won’t win new business. Having said that, now with an established brand, we’ve made bold plans for the future that will propel FAI to new heights. The Utilisation of the latest technology, investment in a highly skilled work force and mainland distribution opportunities will all play a vital role in FAI’s future.

WSBK: June Highlights
Brno, situated in the Czech Republic played host to this round 7 proceeding, resulting in some highs and lows that kept fans glued to the action. Marco had his sights on the top spot until an unfortunate restart occurred when fellow team mate Michael Rinaldi took a tumble. Lucky for Michael, he and the bike were ok and was able to start again, albeit at the back of the grid.

Melandri, now slightly on the back foot and experiencing grip issues, struggled to hold second place but with a determined mindset he kept his nerve until the chequered flag. Unfortunately for Chaz, he was plagued with issues similar to Marco but in fear of losing control and dropping out completely, he lowered the pace, coming in 8th.

Race two saw fates reversed with Marco running wide on a corner due to a rear brake issue; resulting in a 15th place. Ironically, he took the fastest lap time of 2.00.176. Chaz on the other hand scooped third, keeping hot on the tail of the lead riders. A much-needed boost in confidence for the team. Rinaldi also had good fortunes and rode the best race of his first WSBK championship. Showing his raw talent and finishing in 6th certainly shows to the world that he is one to watch in the future.
Laguna Seca
For round 8, we saw the WorldSBK Championship leave the warm but bearable European climate and arrive in a scorching Laguna Seca, USA; where temperatures were topping 50 degrees on the tarmac. Chaz lead the peloton from the start of race one but with the grip levels lower than expected, he had a wobble on turn 8 setting him back to second; holding out until the flag came down. The Welshman was happy with his podium position and over-the-moon with a spectacular lap of 1.23.041, which is a circuit record. Team mate, Marco Melandri, had a challenge on his hands, coming from a 10th place starting position but found momentum as the race wound on.
He climbed 5 places to take 5th, an arduous task on a notoriously difficult track to pass on. The second day of racing saw Davies battle from a third row start to claim 2nd place, where he fought off any attempts to rob him of his second podium place of round 8. Marco made a good start, keeping pace with the leading pack however it was not to be his day. Whilst on lap 4 the bike lost traction and slid away from the seasoned Italian.

»Vehicle » of the Month Ford Kuga 2012 - 2018 The-US-of-A, ‘the land of the free’ has delighted us with all sorts of ideas and products that have wowed us. Everything from Nike Air trainers to the cabinet of Krispy Kremes, now found in almost every service station. Yep, we’ve lapped them up. But all ideas aren’t created equally, remember the Ford Probe? In the 90s there were four main types of car in the UK, hatch, saloon, Convertible and 4x4; the latter of which were mainly owned by farmers. Then came along the American styled SUV which invoked the common reaction of, “what’s an SUV?” and “I’d just buy a 4x4”. Just like some of the best ideas, SUVs took a little while to catch on. Slowly but surely the British public and the whole of Europe for that matter went Sports-UtilityVehicle crazy! .

Who’d of thought it, a vehicle that looks like a hatch-back on steroids and has the off-road ability akin to a hiker wearing flip-flops, is now a global success. Ironically, it’s for these very reasons that this vehicle type has become so popular, with its blend of practicality, high driving position and supple ride, it has hit a home run with the family focused buyers. The Ford Kuga was introduced in 2008 and now spans 3 generations, but only just, as this figure includes the latest 2018 model. The 2012 – 2018 variant makes up the lionshare of the Kugas you’ll see on the road and subsequently has created the highest demand for quality aftermarket components. Q. I’ve ordered an FVD1000 crankshaft pulley, but it has no fitting accessories, why? When FAI first launched its FVD range, the boxed item contained just the pulley itself which gave a cost-effective solution to our customers. Due to feedback kindly fed back to us from customers and fitters it became clear that a kit version, including the fitment accessories would be well received. Ensuring a complete job and to cut down multiple sourcing. In recent months FAI has developed 25 kit versions to help and support customers needs. We wouldn’t want to take away choice therefore you still have the option of a basic pulley (e.g FVD1000) or a kit version of the same number (FVD1000K)
Q. What does a piston kit include? FAI piston kit are a complete solution including a Piston Ring set, Gudgeon Pin & Locking Clips. These components have been produced by the same manufacturer to ensure a perfect fit every time.

»»Engine of the Month VAG CLNA - 1.6 TDi
VAG’s 1.6 TDi has been placed in a variety of models throughout its various subsidiaries, which is no surprise given its winning blend of torque and outstanding economy.
Hitting our streets almost ten years ago now, these power plants have racked up some serious miles, despite being isolated to the supermini segment.
As you’d expect with any VW engine, there have been a plethora of engine codes assigned to differentiate small tweaks such as power tuneage, depending on the market demands.
FAI offer a large array of components, from valves and cams, to a replacement cylinder head. Some components fit several versions of the 1.6 TDi, crossing all platforms, whereas some have been specifically developed for the CLNA.
The CLNA derivative is used widely throughout Europe but was only seen in the Skoda Rapid and Seat Ibiza in the UK, the latter of which makes up the majority of sales. In this form it produced a usable 105 BHP that made it very hard for buyers to ignore over the petrol offerings.
