But despite the heat, there's something undeniably special about summer that no other time of the year gives you. It is a time that encourages us to step outside our routines, whether through travel, creative pursuits, meaningful conversations or quiet moments of reflection. Amouage and Mandarin Oriental partnered to create Whispers Of The Fan, a bespoke fragrance collection inspired by their shared values of heritage, innovation and exceptional hospitality. To develop the scent, Amouage Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon and perfumer Suzy Le Helley travelled to Hong Kong and Bangkok, the historic homes of the Mandarin Oriental brand. Drawing inspiration from the group’s iconic 11-bladed fan emblem, they selected 11 notes representing the journey’s most memorable impressions, including lemongrass, mandarin, coconut, ginger, lotus, jasmine, rice, tea, bamboo, incense and silk. Together, these notes create a subtle yet lasting fragrance that reflects attentive, understated luxury. The scent features across six premium amenities: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, lotion and soap. Made from 97% natural and organic ingredients, the vegan, cruelty-free collection is presented in sustainable refillable packaging designed to reduce plastic waste and environmental impact.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its flagship at 6 Place Vendôme, Repossi introduces exclusive new creations that reinterpret its signature jewellery codes through a contemporary, architectural lens. The highlight is the Serti sur Vide Vendôme Edition brooch, inspired by the column of Place Vendôme and crafted in white gold with pavé diamonds, crowned by a floating pear-shaped diamond that reflects the collection’s iconic empty setting aesthetic. Alongside it, the maison expands the Serti sur Vide line with four new pink gold pieces, including asymmetrical earrings, a Baby ring and a pendant, all set with pear-shaped diamonds. Louis Vuitton launched the Monogram Emblème to mark 130 years of its Monogram motif. The design reinterprets the iconic pattern as a tactile jacquard canvas inspired by early cotton trunk coverings. It uses GOTS-certified cotton and linen to produce a durable, waterrepellent fabric with a denser, embroidery-like pattern. The canvas features rich colours from the house palette, achieved with five threads for depth. New shades include Peuplier, inspired by trunk wood, and Rose Ruban, referencing historic ribbon details. Later releases in September 2026 will include Monogram Bleu from the 1930s archives and Vert Jura, inspired by Louis Vuitton’s native landscape. FARM Rio’s Summer 2026 collection places football culture at the heart of the season with the launch of Together We Play, a capsule celebrating the spirit of match days and Brazilian pride. Designed for fans around the world, the collection features T-shirts, caps, totes, key holders and tropical-print pieces in Brazil’s iconic yellow and green colours, blending sport, community and fashion. Two emblematic universes define Damiani’s 2026 vision: Belle Époque and Margherita, where heritage, artistry and contemporary emotion converge into high jewellery narratives shaped by light, movement and memory. From cinematic rhythm to floral symbolism, the maison translates inspiration into sculptural creations that blur the line between jewellery and art.
Belle Époque draws inspiration from early 20th-century France, an era of scientific progress, cultural effervescence and the birth of cinema. LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS is a French luxury make-up brand that combines highperformance beauty with sustainability, offering vegan, COSMOS Organic and COSMOS Natural certified products made in France. The brand is distinguished by its patented use of plant-based pigments, offering a biodegradable, traceable alternative to conventional petrochemical colourants.

LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS began with colour. Where did that story begin? It all started with a desire to pass on. I created LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS when I was pregnant with my little daughter. At that time, I naturally became more attentive to what I was eating, and that awareness quickly extended to what I was applying to my skin. As I began looking into cosmetic formulations, I realised I couldn’t find what I was truly looking for: products that were both safe, sensorial and respectful of health and the environment. As a biotechnology engineer with a deep passion for botany, I felt it was my responsibility to explore a different path and develop
formulations free of controversial ingredients – organic, vegan and rich in natural colouring. My ambition was to reinvent make-up through plantbased colour, and to sublimate women with plant-based pigments that are both powerful and respectful of life.
What was the idea you couldn’t let go of when you first imagined the brand?
When I first imagined LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS, I couldn’t let go of one idea: changing the codes of beauty. Today, 99% of the global make-up industry still relies on petrochemical pigments. I wanted to restore colour to its rightful nobility and rethink its place within beauty formulations. My ambition was to create a new era of make-up where colour would no longer be a compromise, but a living ingredient in its own right – more respectful, more sensorial and more powerful. From there, everything became clear: redefining beauty through a new balance of performance and naturalness, driven by plant-based colour.
Why colour?
For me, colour is emotion – beyond make-up, it is living and transformative. Plant-based pigmentation is unique because it carries both colour and biological properties: antioxidant, soothing or protective benefits derived from dye plants. Through our patented process, we extract both the colour and the active power of nature, creating deep, rich colour that goes beyond aesthetics. In an era of skinification (the practice of applying skincare
principles to your entire body), colour becomes care. It sublimates the skin over time, offering a more respectful and progressive approach to beauty.
What can botanical pigments tell us about beauty that synthetic colour cannot?
Botanical pigments offer a more holistic form of performance than synthetic colour. First, in terms of colour itself, they offer variability and intensity, vibrance and glow, with strong resistance and durability. Then, from a formulation perspective, they offer an alternative to titanium dioxide and other controversial ingredients, while providing additional biological benefits. Finally, there is an environmental dimension: ethical and sustainable sourcing, carbon sequestration by plants, biodegradability and traceability.
LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS often feels closer to a cultural project than a cosmetics brand. Was that always your intention?
Dye plants have been used for thousands of years and connect us to ancestral cultures. We are inspired by this knowledge and, through our scientific expertise and biotechnological processes, we transform it into stable formulations for our make-up creations.
How do heritage and innovation coexist within the brand?
It is indeed part of our DNA. We draw inspiration from ancestral cultures and empirical knowledge to reveal the potential of nature. Through our scientific expertise and biotechnology, we transform these natural resources into high-performance cosmetic applications.
What role does science play in your relationship with nature?
Science allows us to work with nature in a respectful way. It enables us to build robust protocols to transform botanical resources into reliable colour, without exploiting them. On the contrary, our approach values regeneration, sustainability and reduced environmental impact, including carbon sequestration. Greentech changes the codes of the industry: working in alliance with nature rather than against it, and offering a true alternative to petrochemical ingredients.
Your lipsticks have become the signature of LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS. Why do you think they resonate so strongly with consumers?
Lipstick was our first product, so it naturally became our signature. It is an iconic symbol of French elegance and glamour, embodying that unique “je ne sais quoi” admired worldwide. It is also one of the most technically demanding make-up products to develop, which makes it a true expression of our expertise in botanical colour.
How do you define luxury today?
Luxury is attention to detail: sophisticated, elegant packaging that never compromises desirability and French craftsmanship that turns each creation into a meaningful object. Today, it is also about greater awareness – respect for the skin and health, safe and intelligent formulations and ultimately the trust we place in what we apply on ourselves.
What has surprised you most since launching LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS?
What surprised me most was the absence of such an offer on the market, despite strong consumer demand. People were ready for a different approach to make-up.
What do you think the GCC beauty consumer is looking for today?
Today’s beauty consumer is extremely demanding. We are seeing a clear shift from make-up-centric routines to skincare-focussed expectations, with a strong emphasis on visible results, safety and efficacy. Trust has become central, along with ingredient transparency and brand authenticity.
What would you like people to feel the first time they experience LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS?
I would like them to feel they are entering a ritual. More than make-up, it is a sensorial experience of care – where beauty becomes a meaningful gesture. When they apply our products, they feel immediately enhanced, but also reassured: knowing their skin is respected, protected and cared for over time.

Humidity, UV exposure, air conditioning, salt water and increased perspiration can transform even the most balanced complexion. The skincare routine that carried you effortlessly through winter may suddenly feel too heavy, too drying or simply ineffective.
The secret to radiant summer skin lies not in adopting an entirely new regimen, but in understanding how seasonal changes affect your skin type. From oily and acne-prone complexions to dry, sensitive and combination skin, a tailored approach can help maintain a healthy glow while preventing common warm-weather concerns.
Summer often feels like the season oily skin was made for – and yet it can be surprisingly challenging. Increased heat stimulates sebaceous glands, leading to excess shine, enlarged pores and a greater likelihood of congestion and breakouts.
The instinct to strip away oil with harsh cleansers is understandable but misguided. Instead, opt for a gentle gel cleanser that removes excess sebum without compromising the skin barrier. Modern formulations containing ingredients such as niacinamide and hyaluronic acid provide hydration without heaviness.
When it comes to sunscreen, look for oil-free or mattifying formulas with broad-spectrum protection. Many luxury skincare brands now offer elegant textures that leave a soft-focus finish rather than the dreaded greasy sheen. Weekly exfoliation using salicylic acid can also help keep pores clear and reduce the buildup of dead skin cells accelerated by heat and humidity.
Dr Gabriela’s tip: Choose lightweight, oil-free and non-comedogenic products that hydrate without clogging pores. Avoid over-cleansing, as stripping the skin can trigger increased oil production. Professional laser treatments may also help reduce excess sebum production while improving overall skin texture.

DRY SKIN: DEFENDING AGAINST HIDDEN DEHYDRATION
Hot weather can be surprisingly harsh for dry skin. While the air may feel more humid outdoors, constant exposure to air conditioning, sun and travel can quickly deplete moisture levels.
The goal for dry skin in summer is to maintain hydration while avoiding products that feel occlusive or overly rich. Swap heavy winter creams for lighter emulsions packed with humectants such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid and panthenol. Hydrating serums layered beneath moisturiser can provide lasting comfort without overwhelming the skin. Ingredients like ceramides and squalane help reinforce the skin barrier, reducing moisture loss caused by sun exposure.
Facial mists may offer temporary refreshment, but they should complement, not replace, a comprehensive hydration strategy. For long days outdoors, reapplying sunscreen is particularly important, as UV damage can worsen dryness and accelerate signs of ageing.
Dr Gabriela’s tip: Incorporate a hyaluronic acid serum, a rich moisturiser and vitamin E into your routine to replenish moisture and support the skin barrier. Molecular water sprays can provide a refreshing boost throughout the day, while a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ should be applied daily to protect against UV damage.

Gentle cleansing twice daily, combined with proven ingredients such as salicylic acid, azelaic acid or appropriately used low-strength retinoids, can help maintain clarity. Resist the temptation to over-exfoliate. Excessive scrubbing weakens the skin barrier and may aggravate inflammation, making breakouts more persistent.
Dr Gabriela’s tip: Opt for non-comedogenic, hydrating skincare enriched with antioxidants such as grape seed extract and green tea to help calm and protect the skin. Cleanse after excessive sweating to minimise pore congestion and use a lightweight, gel-based SPF every day. Swimming in salt water may also benefit some individuals with acne-prone skin.

Ihave yet to meet a woman who wouldn’t be thrilled by the prospect of a spa day. And if you’re the rare exception, chances are you’ve never experienced a truly great one. The secret lies in finding the right place – and Sash Spa, I must say, is exactly that. Bringing together a hair salon, nail studio, spa and gym under one roof, Sash has offered a complete wellness and beauty experience for the past 11 years (an impressive milestone it celebrated in June). Whether you’re looking for a quick refresh or a full day of indulgence, it’s the kind of place that leaves you feeling transformed, rejuvenated and ready to take on the world. Spoiler alert: that’s exactly what happened to me.
My pampering day began at the spa. After a brief tour of the amazing facilities, I met my therapist, Ornuma, who handed me a consultation form to complete while I sipped a warm welcome drink infused with ginger, honey and lemongrass.
I was then escorted to the changing area and, within minutes, was wrapped in a plush robe and comfortable slippers. The experience truly began with the spa’s signature foot ritual, which takes place in a seating area just outside the treatment room. With the pull of what seemed like a magic drawer, a bowl filled with pebbles and warm water appeared before me – a delightful surprise I certainly wasn’t expecting.
As Ornuma gently exfoliated my feet with a sugar-and-oil scrub, she asked whether I would prefer to begin with the massage or the facial. It was a question no therapist had ever asked me before, despite my many spa
visits over the years. Unsure which to choose, I opted for the traditional sequence: massage first, facial second.
We then made our way to the Tulip Room – all treatment rooms are named after flowers – where soft lighting and an inviting massage bed set the tone for the next hour. The chosen treatment was the 60-minute Balinese Journey Massage. Ornuma asked about my preferred pressure level. After years of receiving countless massages in different countries with therapists from around the world, I have learned that medium pressure is my sweet spot: firm enough to be effective, yet never painful.
Balinese massage is a holistic, full-body treatment that combines gentle stretching, acupressure, reflexology and aromatherapy to improve circulation, relieve muscle tension, and reduce stress. It also supports the body’s natural detoxification process through lymphatic drainage techniques while helping to restore balance to the body’s energy centres.
Throughout the treatment, I could feel Ornuma’s skilled hands targeting specific pressure points to encourage energy flow and ease tension, while techniques such as skin rolling, kneading and stretching helped release tight muscles and improve joint mobility. The aromatic blend of pine and orange oils added a refreshing sensory dimension to the experience.
As expected, my notoriously stubborn knots in the upper back and shoulders became a primary focus. What impressed me most about my therapist’s technique was her ability to apply firm, purposeful pressure without ever crossing into discomfort. By the end of the session, I felt noticeably lighter and more relaxed, as though some weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
From there, we moved into the facial suite, a luminous sanctuary where my experience began with the Biologique Recherche Skin Instant Lab consultation. The French skincare brand is renowned for its highly concentrated, results-driven formulas and this advanced diagnostic system reflects that same scientific approach. Using five specialised probes, it measures hydration, transepidermal water loss, elasticity, pigmentation and sebum levels to create a detailed picture of the skin’s condition. The goal is to develop a personalised treatment and home-care plan based on real data rather than guesswork.
After answering a few questions, Ornuma guided each of the probes across specific areas of my face while the system gathered its readings. Within minutes, the programme recommended products from Biologique Recherche’s extensive range that would best suit my skin’s needs. What I appreciated most was how the technology supports the therapist in choosing the right products for the treatment. Skincare can often feel overwhelming, so having a plan tailored to your complexion feels like a real luxury.
The facial began with a thorough cleanse using a multi-phase eye make-up remover and Eau Micellaire Biosensible. Once my skin was prepped, LAIT VIP O2 was applied before Ornuma performed an extensive lymphatic drainage massage. For me, this is one of the biggest differences between a professional facial and an at-home skincare routine. The gentle, rhythmic movements help stimulate lymphatic flow, reducing puffiness while subtly sculpting and defining the face.
Next came LOTION P50W, a gentle exfoliating and purifying lotion, followed by MASQUE VIP O2, a hydrating mask enriched with an oxygenating complex designed to refresh and protect the skin. While the mask sat on my complexion, Ornuma offered a scalp massage, which I enthusiastically accepted. It was one of those small touches that made the treatment feel even more indulgent.
The final stage was a carefully layered sequence of targeted skincare, beginning with the anti-ageing ELASTINE and SÉRUM A-GLYCA, followed by a comforting anti-wrinkle treatment for the delicate eye and lip contours. Creme M.E.C moisturiser, LE GRAND SÉRUM and, finally, PROTECTION U.V. completed the ritual. More than 10 products later – each selected for my skin’s unique condition – my complexion appeared noticeably brighter, firmer and infused with a fresh, healthy luminosity.
As my time in the spa drew to a close and I made my way towards the salon, I felt remarkably lighter, both physically and mentally. Not only had signs of fatigue and tension melted away, but so too had the mental fog that often accompanies a demanding schedule. Yet my journey at Sash Spa was not quite over.
The lovely Natalia, the Spa Manager, stopped by to see how I had enjoyed my spa journey before escorting me to the salon, where the hair team was waiting. After lightly dampening my locks, Julie, the hair therapist, applied a nourishing blend of avocado, honey, olive and argan oils. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, this natural treatment is designed to deeply hydrate the hair, boost shine and help tame frizz – something my curls are always grateful for. It also helps nourish the scalp and minimise breakage. It’s a reminder that in a world with an overwhelming array of beauty products, opting for simplicity and the goodness of nature can lead to impressive results.
Once the treatment was rinsed away after 20 minutes, hairstylist Shadi stepped in with his magic touch – or, more accurately, a very skilled blowdry. Before long, my curls had been transformed into sleek, glossy strands, finished with soft, natural waves. It was the kind of hair that instantly changes your mood and has you walking a little taller with every step.
My final stop at Sash was the nail studio, a dedicated space entirely devoted to hand and foot care. There, I was welcomed by Chutikan, who introduced me to the Signature Manicure – easily one of the most thorough manicures I have ever experienced. The challenge was choosing a nail colour. Determined to try something different, I carefully considered my options, only to find myself gravitating towards classic red once again. After nail shaping and meticulous cuticle care, the treatment evolved into something that felt more like a hand spa ritual than a traditional manicure. Exfoliation, nourishing creams, sérum, oils and relaxing massages followed, while a pair of warm gloves helped lock in moisture and enhance the benefits of the products. By the end, my hands felt incredibly soft, smooth and cared for. The perfect final touch to make me feel completely transformed. The woman who stepped in in the morning was definitely not the same one who stepped out that day.
The experience extended beyond the treatments themselves. At Sash Spa, the interiors play an important role in creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming.
The spa, located on the first floor, is a grand space defined by white marble, golden accents and statement chandeliers. Mirrors everywhere enhance the feeling of light and openness, while intricate woodwork on the ceilings filters soft illumination through elegant patterns, creating a serene and sophisticated environment.
The gym offers a different but equally inviting energy. Bright and boutiquelike, it features floor-to-ceiling windows, modern equipment and dedicated studios for classes. Meanwhile, the salon and nail studio on the ground floor have a livelier, more social atmosphere, with contemporary grey and purple accents adding a vibrant touch. Together, the different spaces flow seamlessly, creating a destination where beauty, wellness and relaxation come together under one roof.
As I finally left Sash Spa, I caught my reflection and smiled. Yes, my skin was glowing, my hair looked flawless and my nails were perfectly polished, but what struck me most was how refreshed I felt. Sometimes, the best beauty treatments are the ones that make you feel lighter, brighter and more like yourself. And that was exactly the feeling I took home with me.

Our annual awards honour the very best of Bahrain’s wellness and beauty industry. This year, we gathered at Royal Saray Resort for a memorable ceremony celebrating the outstanding venues, professionals and brands that continue to elevate the Kingdom’s well-being landscape.
This year marked the ninth edition of the Ohlala Spa & Wellness Awards Bahrain, our flagship event dedicated to recognising excellence across the country’s thriving wellness and beauty sector.
Held at the elegant Al Sarra Ballroom at Royal Saray Resort, the ceremony brought together esteemed guests, industry partners and nominees for an evening of celebration and recognition. Due to the ongoing situation in the region, the event was postponed from April to June and, for the first time, hosted entirely indoors to ensure the comfort of all attendees.
The change of setting did little to diminish the celebratory atmosphere. Guests enjoyed lively conversations, delicious refreshments and the opportunity to honour the individuals and establishments that have set new benchmarks for excellence over the past year. This year’s awards attracted an impressive 410 nominations across 29 categories, in addition to the coveted Spa of the Year title. With approximately 64,000 votes cast, the awards once again demonstrated their significance and credibility within Bahrain’s wellness community.
Among the highlights of this year’s programme was the introduction of the Mind Body Studio category, recognising establishments that specialise in practices such as yoga, Pilates and other mindful practices. Meanwhile, the Regional Retreat category, introduced last year, continues to reflect OHLALA’s growing presence across the GCC, spotlighting exceptional wellness destinations our team has experienced firsthand. The prestigious Spa of the Year award is reserved for a destination that excels across every aspect of the spa experience, from thoughtful design and premium spa products to innovative treatments and transformative wellness journeys.
Each category features two awards: Favourite, determined by public online voting, and Best, selected by our editorial panel alongside industry experts. This year, a total of 59 winners were recognised across the Best, Favourite and Spa of the Year categories. Together, the nominees represented the full spectrum of Bahrain’s wellness and beauty industry, including hotel and standalone spas, salons, wellness centres, health clubs, retreats and beauty brands.

A masterclass in understated fine dining is what Fernanda Langhammer discovered at Cipriani Bahrain, where every detail met the high expectations set by such a prestigious name.
Enjoying a meal at Cipriani is more than just sustenance – it’s an experience that seamlessly blends classic Italian elegance with exceptional hospitality. Renowned for its refined ambience and signature dishes, the restaurant has earned a global reputation for serving authentic Italian cuisine with impeccable attention to detail. Having previously dined at Harry’s Bar in Venice – the original Cipriani – and even had the privilege of meeting Arrigo Cipriani himself, I was eager to see whether the Bahrain restaurant could capture the same magic. I’m pleased to say it stays true to the heritage and standards that have made Cipriani an enduring institution, but with a bonus: a touch of GCC splendour.
Harry’s Bar was founded in 1931 and has earned many accolades, including for its culinary creations, such as Carpaccio, and the Bellini. The restaurant follows an interesting concept that relies heavily on consistency: the timeless recipes dating back to its opening, with Venetian and Northern Italian staples, rotate daily, twice – lunch and dinner – with a new printed menu that includes the date of your visit. How distinctive is that? The daily variations and rotating specials ensure ingredient freshness. Still, if you have your heart set on a particular favourite, the attentive staff are always happy to let you know whether it’s available that day.
Our meal started with a selection of mocktails, from coffee-based to raspberry-freshness, accompanied by classic nibs such as crispy zucchini fritters, chunky olives and shards of Parmesan. A beginning that set the tone for the lunch: straightforward food made with high-quality ingredients.
The first dishes to come to our table were a selection of appetisers, salads and ‘The Classics of Harry’s Bar’. We had two types of salads: Endive Salad with Avocado and Shaved Parmesan Cheese and Beetroots and Asparagus Salad with Goat Cheese. The endive salad relied on contrast – crisp, slightly bitter leaves enveloped in creamy avocado, creating a play of textures between crunch and velvety softness. The beetroot was a pleasant surprise: it had the right sweetness, without that soil hint that usually accompanies this vegetable. It sat perfectly with the tender asparagus chunks, while the goat cheese and thinly sliced basil leaves finalised the taste profile. It was refreshing yet full-bodied and we kept going back for more.
One of the most-awaited items: the Carpaccio “Alla Cipriani” was next in line. A paper-thin canvas of ruby-red raw beef with a silky, melt-inyour-mouth texture paired with the venue’s signature mustard-spiked mayonnaise dressing. The presentation features a Kandinsky-inspired crosshatch pattern; however, the dish’s name honours the Renaissance painter Vittore Carpaccio, whose vibrant red and yellow tones led the creator, Giuseppe Cipriani (Arrigo’s father), to connect the dish to the artist. A recipe that counts on technique and balances delicate savoury notes with a sharp, creamy tang. Maybe Giuseppe predicted it would be a culinary masterpiece when artists inspired the creation. In a very humble appearance, the Avocado and Prawns with Salsa Rosa added a refreshing bite. Gently boiled, extremely tender prawns, served with avocado slices and a classic pink sauce. A starter that won our taste buds by its modesty, it was a table pleaser.
One of the most legendary dishes from Harry’s Bar – and one you’re almost certain to have come across if you have even a slight interest in fine dining – is the Baked White Tagliolini with Veal Ham, an indulgence disguised as simplicity. The tagliolini is impossibly fine and silky, baked into a soft, creamy embrace that feels both airy and decadent at once. The veal ham runs delicately through each forkful, adding a gentle, savoury depth. It’s comforting yet refined, nostalgic yet polished and unmistakably Cipriani in its understated elegance – a true signature and, quite simply, a must-order.
The Chicken Spezzatino “al Limone” with Rice Pilaf is an elevated take on comfort food. The bite-sized chicken pieces were succulent and gently braised, absorbing the delicate lemon-butter sauce that brought brightness without overpowering acidity – served alongside a light, fluffy rice pilaf. And last but not least, a dish that won us over with its effortlessness yet striking presence: the Wild Sea Bass with Tomatoes, Taggiasca Olives and Potatoes. The presentation is worth highlighting – one kilogram of fish arrives on a very large tray, which the waitstaff skillfully portions onto two smaller ones. Important to mention, the service at Cipriani is an experience of its own, with every team member dressed in immaculate white suits and moving with refined, almost ceremonial precision, turning the tableside preparation into a quiet spectacle.
The sea bass is a declaration of love to the Mediterranean, perfectly cooked, flaky and naturally sweet, with a texture that reflects its freshness. It is accompanied by a vibrant medley of tomatoes, Taggiasca olives and ultra-crispy roasted potatoes, each element shining in its own way. The tomatoes bring gentle acidity and warmth, the olives a subtle briny depth that enhances rather than overwhelms and the potatoes a comforting, earthy richness that anchors the plate.
Just like the savoury selection, the desserts are quintessential with signature creations. Starting with the one that immediately caught the eye, the Vanilla Meringue was the clear star – ethereal and airy, it felt like a sweet, creamy cloud. It was composed of delicate sponge, silky vanilla cream and a toasted caramelised meringue shell. The Chocolate Cake, by contrast, was richer and more assertive, offering a deep cocoa profile that remains smooth and well-balanced rather than overly dense or sugary. The Tiramisu was an ode to refinement, layered with care, it offered a harmonious blend of espresso-soaked sponge, mascarpone cream and just the right hint of bitterness to cut through the richness. The Vanilla Ice Cream is freshly whipped to order, super light yet full of flavour and worked very well as a palate cleanser. A sweets’ lineup that reflects a clear philosophy: classic creations executed with precision and temperance.
Cipriani Bahrain succeeds not by reinventing its legacy, but by staying true to it, with a menu that brings homestyle warmth and no over-thetop plating, while carrying a certain poise. From the first bite to the final spoonful, there is a clear common thread of discipline and respect for tradition that defines the entire experience. Its impeccable service and an unmistakable sense of occasion make dining there a special event. For those familiar with the original Harry’s Bar, it is reassuring to see the same spirit alive and well with a touch of Middle Eastern grandeur – to make things GCC-style, there is a beach club connected to the restaurant. Few vehicles face a more difficult challenge than a performance luxury SUV. They must be fast without sacrificing comfort, engaging without compromising refinement and practical enough for everyday life. The new Bentley Bentayga Speed embraces that challenge with remarkable confidence.
As the most powerful, dynamic and exhilarating Bentayga yet, it arrives with a clear mission. Bentley has taken its flagship SUV and elevated its performance credentials while preserving the comfort, craftsmanship and refinement that define the marque.
We spent a day inspecting and driving the Bentayga Speed to discover whether it could genuinely combine these seemingly opposite personalities. By the end of our test, the answer was clear.
The Bentayga Speed makes an immediate impression. Dark tint brightware, distinctive Speed badges and striking dynamic specification with 23-inch black painted and bright machined wheels give it a purposeful stance, while unique Speed headlamps and darker tail lamp detailing add a more focussed character.
During our inspection, we found ourselves repeatedly circling back for another look. Every angle revealed something new, yet the overall design remained cohesive and unmistakably Bentley.
Particularly appealing is the optional black roof treatment, which creates a dramatic contrast and gives the SUV an even more assertive appearance. It is the automotive equivalent of arriving at a formal dinner wearing a perfectly tailored black jacket and somehow still being the most interesting person in the room.
For a vehicle of this size, it carries its proportions remarkably well. Standing beside it, we briefly wondered whether Bentley's designers had negotiated a separate agreement with the laws of physics.
Inside, the Bentayga Speed in Mandarin colour by Mulliner and Beluga combines craftsmanship with a distinctly sporting character. Speed badging appears throughout the cabin, while embroidered emblems, Precision Diamond quilting and carefully selected colour combinations reinforce its performance-focussed identity.
The quality of materials is immediately apparent. Every surface feels thoughtfully finished, creating an environment that is luxurious without becoming excessive. From the driver's seat, comfort remains a defining characteristic. The cabin felt inviting from the moment we settled in, while visibility and ergonomics made it easy to spend extended periods behind the wheel. We inspected the cabin thoroughly. Every time we thought we'd seen everything, another detail quietly appeared.

The infotainment system centres on a 10.9-inch touchscreen with gesture control and navigation, supported by a digital driver's display and voice control. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure seamless connectivity, while Bluetooth, USB-C connectivity and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot further enhance convenience. Features are easy to access and intuitive to operate, allowing us to focus on the journey rather than memorising a software manual.
The audio system delivered rich, refined sound throughout our test, though we often found ourselves debating whether to listen to our music or the twin-turbocharged V8.
This is where the Bentayga Speed truly distinguishes itself. Power comes from a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 producing 650PS and 850Nm of torque.
On the road, performance felt effortless rather than aggressive. Acceleration arrived in a smooth, relentless wave that carried the Bentayga Speed from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, while a top speed of 310km/h with optional carbon ceramic brakes hints at the immense reserves of performance available. The standard sports exhaust delivered a rich soundtrack that perfectly matched the vehicle's character.
Yet outright speed tells only part of the story. Enhanced SPORT mode, all-wheel steering and revised chassis settings create a level of agility that genuinely surprises. More than once, we glanced at the speedometer and discovered we were travelling considerably faster than it felt.
Advanced systems include a Head-Up Display, Night Vision, Park Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, alongside a comprehensive package of airbags and safety technologies. What impressed us most was how discreetly these systems operated. Rather than constantly reminding drivers of their presence, they worked quietly in the background, enhancing reassurance without intruding on the driving experience.
The Bentayga Speed succeeds because it refuses to specialise in one thing. It is exceptionally fast, beautifully crafted, technologically advanced and extraordinarily engaging to drive. More importantly, it delivers these qualities without sacrificing the comfort and refinement expected from a Bentley. By the end of our journey, what stayed with us was not simply the performance. It was the breadth of capability. One moment, it felt like a luxurious grand tourer; the next, a remarkably agile performance machine.
