As you may know, to have this April issue in your hands (or in front of your eyes on a screen), the OHLALA team worked throughout March, a month that wasn’t particularly easy due to the situation in the region. From words created by the editorial team and images put together by our graphic designer, to the continued work of our sales team and unwavering support of our partners, nothing stopped us. Our April publication is here. Beautiful, elegant, informative and highlighting one of our favourite themes: watches and jewellery. We explore new creations, discover unmissable destinations for lovers of timekeepers and feature local and regional brands that stand out in this competitive market. It’s time to celebrate our own and neighbouring names; it’s time to stand together. Sometimes, when things get ugly, we need to remind ourselves that there is prettiness and creativity in the world, and we don’t have to go far to find them.
In the beauty scene, we share tips for creating a home spa environment to enjoy some peace without stepping outside. In an exclusive interview, we had an interesting conversation with Dr Gabriela Mercik, the founder of the renowned Dr. Gabriela Clinic – it’s all you ever wanted to know about aesthetic medicine. We also bring a step-by-step grooming routine from Australian brand VITAMAN, under Ali Bin Ali Beauty, for men looking to upgrade their skincare game. Also very helpful for the women out there who want to educate their men.
Eating out might not be in everyone’s plans, but some of us might need a change of scenery. Doing it responsibly means finding a warm, safe place that offers comfort and good food. We headed to Sato at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa, which offers a Japanese menu and is one of everyone’s favourites on the island – it felt like the perfect choice.
In our motoring section, Mercedes-Benz entered the scene with the Mercedes-AMG SL 55 4MATIC+, a car that delivered power, performance and grace, words we welcome in our dictionary with joy in such challenging times.
I wish you an enjoyable read, with the mission of bringing a bit of beauty, a touch of good vibes, and a lot of hope for a better month to us all. Stay safe!

This month, we’ve picked our favourite carriers from the spring and summer collections. Fashionable styles for different occasions that will elevate your warm-weather looks.

Baguette. This style features a structured, elongated silhouette, usually carried under the arm. This Coach Tabby comes in a bigger frame made with white denim for an intriguing touch.
Pouch. Celine brings a cute design resembling a small sack. Made in soft lambskin, it features a drawstring closure and a crossbody strap. These are not the best option for functionality, but for their good-looking effect.

Tote. This design is by far the most popular, coming in different interpretations. What we love about this GENNY bag is the 3D orchid embellishments, embracing the flower season in style.

Welcome spring into your wardrobe with floral prints and 3D blooms covering clothes and accessories. Go for colourful items to add a touch of vibrancy to your outfits that will brighten your days.

Playing with contrasting shades or tone-on-tone hues is the key in this trend for bold, graphic visual effects. This styling technique features vibrant, saturated colours such as red and blue or pink and tangerine. Turn on the energy-boosting mode with this trend.

The librarian chic trend combines academic, tailored pieces and V-necks with relaxed elements such as jeans and XL belts, creating an effortlessly cool look. Details such as collared shirts and ties meet wide-legged trousers for a stylish outfit.

A nudge to the librarian vibe, waistcoats add an edgy style to your looks. Serving as a versatile alternative to blazers, they add structure to casual outfits. The options include cropped, longline, slim or loose that can be worn as standalone tops or layered over shirts.

Vintage looks with grandma-like dresses, ‘70s style and Victorian details blend nostalgia with modern attitude. Midi dresses, floral prints, brocade, peep toes and comfy loafers blend comfort with intentional, classic fashion. Granny core is calling.

Spring is here, and its bright days inspire this trend. Yellow comes to symbolise warmer, happier days ahead. Introduce its many shades to your wardrobe, from cornsilk to canary, and embrace the sun in your looks.

Boucheron continues to reinvent its Quatre collection, constantly evolving it while keeping its essence unchanged – enter the new Quatre XS.

This year, Boucheron brings its Quatre collection to the spotlight with Quatre XS – a mini take on the maison’s iconic ring. The Quatre universe is also expanded with new creations designed for styling freedom, encouraging layering, mix-and-match and bold combinations.
Slimmer than the small version yet as precious, this new take stays true to the collection’s signature four-motif design. A Quatre Black Edition bracelet joins the lineup with the same strength and graphic edge.
Two bands, in yellow gold or platinum, bring together two emblematic Quatre codes to play with their style. One side showcases Grosgrain, the ribbed-silk motif that nods to Frédéric Boucheron’s couture roots. The other features Double Godron: two rings merged into one, a symbol of love between two souls.
The maison introduces new Quatre Radiant Edition pieces in monochrome white gold and diamonds. Studs and a tie necklace translate the collection’s four codes into varied diamond cuts: round brilliant for Double Godron and the diamond line, baguette for Grosgrain and princess for Clou de Paris. The tubular bracelet –unveiled in 2025 in Quatre’s original palette – now arrives in an allwhite-gold, diamond-paved finish.
The Quatre collection is an artful fusion of traditional savoir-faire and cutting-edge technologies, with each Boucheron code patiently crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Quatre is like no other ring. It’s composed of four completely distinct bands, individually crafted and assembled into the iconic Boucheron aesthetic.
From the initial composition of the alloys to the final assembly of the four bands, each step is executed to within the nearest nanomillimetre, as any discrepancy could jeopardise the result. Using a press, without either glue or solder, the four bands are assembled by hand, and a final sound, like a click, signals that the piece is completed. However, the creations come to life through refined technology that complements traditional jewellery-making techniques. Crafting the Quatre ring requires precision beyond what any human hand can achieve, so it is done using digitally controlled machines. The stage of turning – sculpting the gold to shape the inside and outside of the ring’s bands – is one example.
With the new Quatre XS, the iconic collection goes mini without losing any of its impact or craftsmanship.

Pomellato is reaching a milestone and celebrating it with new creations in the Nudo collection.

Pomellato’s Nudo collection is celebrating its 25th anniversary with new additions to the line. These beloved creations explore colour through gemstones in delicate designs, moving together in balance to reflect every facet of a woman’s life.
Nudo celebrates colour as the universal language of emotion. The new Nudo Rivière necklaces in rose and white gold unite the purity of Nudo’s signature with the vividly bright Clessidra cut, gathering a vibrant cluster of stones at the centre. Geometric elements play together: London blue and sky blue topazes meet white diamond pavé circles in a gently asymmetric cadence. For comfort and motion, a mobile rose gold chain completes the back and adjusts for a tailored fit. Coordinated earrings echo the palette in a measured cascade of light and colour.
A second parure pairs purple amethysts with crisp green peridots – each stone showcasing Nudo’s distinctive 57 irregular facets – appearing to float within white diamond pavé circles. The asymmetric layout of mixed sizes creates the impression of colour drifting across the skin. Matching earrings carry the same ease – Milanese in spirit: considered, yet spontaneous.
In the new Nudo necklaces, a dialogue of four stone sizes – maxi, classic, petit and mini – builds movement and a refined equilibrium of volumes. Their interplay brings a natural rhythm to the neckline while preserving Nudo’s silhouette. The Clessidra cut adds dimensionality and enhances the gems’ play of light while keeping Nudo’s essential design; with its two faces, the gem sits close to the skin, creating a quiet, intimate connection between jewel and wearer.
Nudo also introduces a prasiolite and green agate doublet in rose and white gold across pendant, ring and earrings. Translucent, moss-toned prasiolite layered over deep green agate creates a nuanced third hue, enlivened by discreet white diamond pavé. These doublets – uniting a translucent gem with a hardstone –uncover depths of colour that a single gem cannot achieve. Rounded shanks and hoop profiles host flush pavé accents, bringing refined scintillation to stacks or single wear.
The Nudo Toi et Moi ring in rose and white gold balances colour and light: a vibrant amethyst in classic size pairs with Nudo’s iconic silhouette in white diamond pavé in petit size. The interplay of scale and surface gives the ring a clear graphic identity – confident alone, harmonious in a stack. Matching earrings echo the same dialogue between the gemstone and diamond-set forms, perfect for mixing with the existing Toi et Moi palette. True to Pomellato’s Free Gems philosophy, this Nudo milestone champions stones for their character as much as their beauty. Each gem retains its voice as it joins a larger composition of colour and connection.

Parmigiani Fleurier adds a new expression to the Tonda PF Automatic timepiece with the new Alta Rosa.

The Alta Rosa Tonda PF Automatic 36mm adopts a rose tone, which is not only a colour variation but also a continuation of coherent chromatic and architectural research. At Parmigiani Fleurier, each new shade is conceived as part of a palette built over time, a disciplined exploration of nuance that gradually defines the maison’s visual language.
Colour is never treated as an applied effect. It is approached with the same care as a calibre: calibrated, contextual and inseparable from proportion, light and material. Time is not conceived as a statement, but as a presence: calm, assured, quietly choreographed.
The rose tint of Alta Rosa is conceived as a mineral chromatic field, restrained and composed, designed to evolve according to light rather than dominate it.
From the outset, the Grain d’Orge guilloché of the Tonda PF collection’s surface is designed to receive light, temper it and return it with restraint. Seen through the sapphire crystal and its anti-reflective treatment, it reveals depth without insistence, enriching the dial while preserving its quiet balance.
Applied 18-carat gold, rhodium-plated indices and skeletonised delta-shaped hands reinforce the philosophy. Housed in a 36mm stainless steel case, Alta Rosa is defined by proportion, its slim profile and the measured alternation of polished and satin finishes allow light to glide across surfaces.
The platinum 950 knurled bezel, emblematic of the Tonda PF collection, introduces a discreet precious element, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment preserves optical clarity, while 100 metres of water resistance ensures everyday usability.
Alta Rosa is powered by the in-house PF770 automatic manufacture calibre, developed and produced within Parmigiani Fleurier’s workshops.
On the wrist, this timepiece translates into a sense of ease, a watch that occupies space without ever imposing itself.
@parmigianifleurier

Breitling unveils a new limited-edition Navitimer, paying tribute to the aircraft of all aircraft: the Concorde.

Breitling’s Navimeter has a deep-rooted influence in the history of aviation, with links to some of the most legendary planes ever built and this time, the inspiration comes from the Concorde.
The Concorde redefined what was possible in the sky, cutting trans-Atlantic flight time in half at twice the speed of sound and lifting passengers high enough to see the curvature of the Earth. The supersonic aircraft was a symbol of a time when the world dreamed bigger. “Flying with the Concorde was like nothing else. Today, travel is a necessary step to reach a destination, but a Concorde flight was an experience in itself. It’s only natural that we pay homage to the 50th anniversary of its first flight with our iconic Navitimer,” said Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling.
The Navitimer was designed in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Known as the first wristwatch flight computer, it featured a patented circular slide rule that could perform crucial onboard calculations. For over 70 years, the Navitimer has played many roles, from essential pilot’s tool to cultural icon. While it began as a practical tool-watch for pilots, its influence went far beyond aviation, becoming the first Swiss wristwatch in space with astronaut Scott Carpenter before finding its way onto the wrists of Formula 1 legends Graham Hill and Jim Clark.

The Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Tribute to Concorde features a Breitling Manufacture Calibre B01, self-winding mechanical, bidirectional with ball bearing and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. The case is made of stainless steel with a diameter of 43mm and cambered sapphire glass, glareproofed on both sides, with a platinum bezel. It is finished with a white and blue dial, Super-LumiNova luminescent indexes, hour and minute hands, and a blue alligator leather strap with a stainless steel folding buckle. Limited to 593 pieces, it references the Olympus 593 turbojet engines that powered the aircraft. The caseback is engraved with ‘One of 593’, ‘Tribute to Concorde’, ‘Jetliner’ and ‘Mach 2’ the aircraft’s cruising speed beyond the sound barrier.
The Navitimer Tribute to Concorde brings together two aviation legends. Fifty years after the iconic plane’s first flight, it honours an aircraft that redefined what was possible and a belief that the future belongs to those who dream bigger.

The beauty scene keeps moving forward and we’ve spotted a few upcoming products that will help you pamper yourself. We selected items from body and facial care to enticing scents and make-up. Feeling pretty is one step towards feeling good.

The Dior Forever Skin Glow offers 24hr no-retouch and studio glow, while Dior Forever Skin Wear offers 24hr no-transfer and a natural matte finish. Created by Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, they intend to reveal flawless, enhanced skin, with or without make-up.
Drawing on the expertise of the director and his make-up artists in the Dior shows backstage, Dior Forever products are developed to perfect the skin of celebrities and models and hold up during hectic photoshoots, red carpets and runways. Tested on all skin types and tones, they offer women no-retouch, camera-ready perfection, worthy of a photo studio.
Dior Forever Skin Glow acts like a ‘digital retouch’, instantly correcting imperfections. Its buildable texture is said to offer medium-to-high coverage for a perfected, natural make-up result that is imperceptible even in closeup. Because dull skin absorbs the light, Skin Glow’s patented formula has a highly reflective oil at its heart to evenly diffuse light on the skin. The formula is enriched with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and peptide. The composition blends high-coverage pigments and perfecting powders to create a softfocus effect, reducing the appearance of pores and imperfections. For a corrective, illuminating effect that is said to last all day, like a micro-film,
For 2026, Dior has reinvented its foundations by combining make-up perfection with skincare. Welcome Dior Forever Skin Glow and Dior Forever Skin Wear. @diorbeauty
polymers combined with a volatile ingredient offer incredible wear even in hot and humid conditions, with a bare-skin feel.
Dior Forever Skin Wear combines natural matte finish, bare skin and high perfection in a foundation. Its fluid, breathable texture is designed to offer buildable, medium-to-high coverage, melting into the skin to perfect it with a soft-focus filter effect. While matte foundations tend to leave a powdery effect as the day progresses, the new Skin Wear formula combines powders with a polymer to create a mesh that delivers long-wear and seamless perfection without a powdery finish. Its duo of perfecting and mattifying micro-powders visibly corrects imperfections: one acts like a sponge to control shine, while the other contributes to an optical blurring effect.
The two foundations are available in 45 shades, adjusted with precision thanks to a study of over 500 skin tones. This analysis was refined through shade-matching sessions led by Peter Philips and his studio, on more than 330 women. “We have developed textures that combine high-performance results with an ultra-light feel, as well as formulas that blur imperfections while delivering a long-term skincare effect and a wider range of shades.
Dior Forever Skin Glow and Dior Forever Skin Wear usher in a new era for complexion make-up,” he said.

Dr. Barbara Sturm unveils a new product intended to preserve and stimulate your skin during its peak years: The Peptide Serum.
One of the most vital proteins in skin, collagen is essential for firmness, elasticity and bounce. It works alongside elastin to form the complexion’s internal structure. Dr. Barbara Sturm’s The Peptide Serum enters the skin regimen as a high-performance, bio-tech innovation, powered by peptides, created to help defend the skin’s structural proteins while supporting their natural synthesis.
Collagen loss begins as early as the mid-twenties and then accelerates rapidly in mid-life, driving the most visible signs of ageing. To prepare the skin for this time, some dermatologists believe in collagen banking. The approach focusses on preserving and stimulating collagen today to support skin strength and structure tomorrow.
Guided by this philosophy of skin longevity, Dr. Barbara Sturm introduces The Peptide Serum. Formulated with a next-gen complex of bio-tech peptides that act as signalling molecules on the skin’s surface, encouraging collagen and elastin synthesis in the deeper layers. In parallel, an amino acid complex amplifies the serum’s performance, providing the building blocks for the skin’s own peptides and supporting long-term renewal and resilience.
Acetyl Octapeptide-3 is responsible for creating a tightening effect by visibly smoothing expression lines and micro-tensions on the skin’s surface. Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2 supports skin’s natural collagen and elastin production to improve firmness and reduce sagging.
Hexapeptide-3 enters to enhance skin density and renewal by reinforcing the skin matrix.
Decapeptide-4 is a multi-targeted peptide that supports the formation of collagen, elastin and fibronectin to strengthen skin structure and reduce the look of wrinkles. Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 is a soothing peptide that supports the skin’s microbiome, refines texture and defends against collagen degradation. And last but not least, an amino acid complex with a hydrating peptide booster deeply moisturises and delivers essential building blocks for the skin’s own peptides.
The Peptide Serum works as a preventive product to add to your beauty routine while your skin is still at its prime.
@drbarbarasturm

This month, OHLALA talks to Dr Gabriela Mercik, founder of Dr. Gabriela Clinic, who offers a lesson on aesthetic treatments and beauty standards.
OHLALA– Your career in the medical field started as a cardiologist. How did you shift your speciality, and what lessons did you carry forward?
Dr Gabriela Mercik – My foundation in cardiology taught me to understand the body as an interconnected system rather than a collection of isolated structures. That perspective has remained central to my work. My transition into aesthetic and regenerative medicine was not a departure from medicine, but a natural evolution toward prevention, longevity and quality of life. A defining moment in my journey was my personal experience as a cancer survivor. It changed my priorities completely. I understood what it means to be in a vulnerable position, with limited safe and appropriate options, especially for sensitive or compromised skin. That experience shaped my commitment to developing treatments that are medically grounded, respectful to the body and focussed on true regeneration. The key lesson I am carrying forward is that medicine should not only extend life but also improve its quality.
OHLALA– The aesthetic world has many directions. You are recognised for non-invasive, regenerative treatments that enhance the skin’s natural ability to repair and renew itself. Can you tell us more about your developments in this area?
Dr Gabriela – My work is centred on regenerative medicine – stimulating the body’s own repair mechanisms rather than overriding them. I have developed and refined treatment protocols that combine biomimetic peptide mesotherapy, PDO and PLLA threads, and advanced laser technologies, including the non-invasive and painless 6D Laser. Each of these approaches operates on a biological level. Importantly, I do not approach skin as a surface to be corrected. Skin is an organ, and it must be treated medically. This requires understanding its structure, respecting its physiology and working with it, not against it. The goal is always natural, progressive outcomes that improve both appearance and tissue health over time.
OHLALA – When creating new treatments, what do you take into consideration? Does personal experience influence your discoveries?
Dr Gabriela – Every treatment begins with a clinical question: how can we improve tissue quality safely, effectively and in a way that supports longterm health? As a cancer survivor, I experienced the lack of appropriate options for patients with sensitive, reactive or medically compromised skin. Many existing treatments are too aggressive or not designed with these patients in mind. This led me to focus on developing solutions that are gentler yet highly effective, respect the skin barrier, support regeneration and can be safely applied even in more complex clinical situations. I also prioritise longevity. The question is not how a patient looks immediately after a procedure, but how their skin behaves in one, five or 10 years. True innovation in this field is not about instant transformation, but about sustainable, long-term improvement.
OHLALA– What treatments would you recommend as a starting point for patients entering the world of aesthetics?
Dr Gabriela – For patients beginning their aesthetic journey, I always recommend starting with treatments that improve skin quality rather than altering facial structure. Biomimetic peptide mesotherapy is an excellent foundation, as it supports cellular repair and enhances overall skin function. It prepares the skin rather than forcing change. Laser-based treatments, such as the 6D Laser, are also highly effective in improving texture, tone and early signs of ageing in a non-invasive way. For patients requiring structural support, PDO or PLLA threads can be introduced gradually, providing natural lifting and collagen stimulation without surgery. The principle is to build a foundation for healthy skin. Once the skin is functioning optimally, any additional treatments will deliver more refined and natural results.
“Importantly, I do not approach skin as a surface to be corrected. Skin is an organ, and it must be treated medically.”
– Dr Gabriela Mercik
OHLALA – How do you see beauty enhancements influencing selfesteem? How important are external changes to overall well-being?
Dr Gabriela – External appearance and internal well-being are closely connected, but this relationship must be approached with responsibility. When treatments are performed correctly, respecting natural anatomy and individual identity, they can restore confidence rather than create dependency. Patients feel more aligned with how they see themselves, rather than transformed into someone else. Aesthetic medicine should never be about chasing perfection. It should support psychological well-being, not compromise it. This is why a strong medical and ethical framework is essential. True confidence comes from health, vitality and authenticity. External improvements should reflect that, not replace it.
OHLALA– What is beauty for you, and what is the best way to achieve it?
Dr Gabriela – For me, beauty reflects health. It is not artificial perfection, but balance, vitality and harmony. The most effective approach is to start from within. Internal health, nutrition, hormonal balance and inflammation control directly influence how the skin looks and behaves. When the body functions well, the skin reflects this naturally. From there, medical treatments can support and enhance these processes, but they should never replace them. Healthy skin is beautiful skin. This has been my philosophy for over 20 years, and it remains unchanged.
OHLALA– Dr. Gabriela Clinic has a strong reputation in the UK. Why did you decide to extend your practice to Bahrain?
Dr Gabriela – Bahrain represents a significant opportunity. There is a strong appreciation for aesthetics and longevity, alongside a growing awareness that health span is as important as lifespan. My vision is to introduce a more medical, regenerative approach to aesthetics, one that focusses not only on appearance, but on how the skin and body function over time. Bahrain has the potential to evolve toward a more preventiondriven, longevity-focussed culture, which aligns closely with my philosophy.
OHLALA– How do you view beauty standards in this region, and how does your clinic fit within this landscape?
Dr Gabriela – Beauty standards are evolving globally and this region is no exception. There is an increasing preference for natural, refined outcomes rather than exaggerated or artificial results. Patients are becoming more informed and discerning. They are seeking treatments that are less invasive, less aggressive and more aligned with overall health. This is precisely where my clinic is positioned. We focus on subtle, medically grounded treatments that enhance rather than alter. The objective is not to change faces, but to restore quality, structure and confidence. The future of aesthetics is not about doing more. It is about doing better, more precisely, more safely and with greater respect for the biology of the patient.

In a world where more men are embracing a consistent grooming routine, VITAMAN steps into the scene with natural formulas and simple steps that fit a man’s life perfectly.
Agreat complexion rarely happens by accident. More often than not, it comes down to a few consistent habits: cleansing properly, keeping things balanced, and using targeted formulas that quietly do the heavy lifting. The good news? It doesn’t have to mean a complicated routine or an overcrowded bathroom shelf. When the products are right, a handful of well-chosen essentials is often all it takes to keep skin looking fresh, clear, and energised. That’s the thinking behind VITAMAN, a Sydney-born men’s grooming brand founded by beauty therapist Clare Castles in 1999.
VITAMAN is built on two core pillars: potent Australian native botanicals and white tea extract used in place of purified water, both chosen for their antioxidant content and skin-active properties. The result is a high-performance lineup that’s also free from parabens, phthalates, mineral oil and artificial fragrances, packaged in fully recyclable materials. Performance and conscience, in one streamlined routine. Below are the key steps that make up this daily ritual.
MORNING ROUTINE
Clean Slate
The day starts with the VITAMAN Face & Body Cleanser, and for good reason. Overnight, skin accumulates oil, sweat and environmental residue that, left unaddressed, will dull the complexion before it’s had a chance to do anything. The temptation is to reach for something aggressive, something that strips everything back to zero. But that approach tends to backfire, triggering more oil production and leaving skin tight and reactive. This formula takes a smarter line. Lemon myrtle, a potent Australian botanical with natural antibacterial properties, purifies without aggression, keeping excess oil in check without upsetting the skin’s balance. Witch hazel works as a natural astringent to refine pores and control shine, while sweet orange peel delivers a quiet hit of antioxidant vitamin C. Aloe vera rounds things out with just enough soothing hydration to calm any redness before it takes hold. The result is a face that feels genuinely reset, clean and comfortable, not squeaky-tight.

The Polish Step
Two to three times a week, the VITAMAN Face Scrub earns its place in the rotation. It’s an easy step to skip and it shows when you do. Dead cells accumulate between washes and can quietly sabotage everything else in your routine, clogging pores, causing dullness and making even the best products work harder than they should. Bamboo powder, a fine natural micro-exfoliant, buffs the surface gently yet effectively, encouraging healthy cell renewal without the irritation that harsher scrubs can cause. Walnut shell powder goes deeper, drawing out impurities trapped within the pore itself and leaving skin visibly smoother and more even. Sweet orange peel adds antioxidant brightness to the mix, while antibacterial lemon myrtle helps keep oil levels balanced. It’s a reset within a reset, and the difference in texture is immediate.
The Heavyweight
Serums are where routines get serious, and the VITAMAN Daily Hydrating Serum justifies the category entirely. Lightweight in texture but genuinely concentrated in effect, it leads with kakadu plum, an Australian superfruit that is believed to contain the world’s highest natural concentration of vitamin C, up to 100 times more than oranges, to brighten tone, calm inflammation and protect against the oxidative stress that dulls skin over time. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) regulates oil production and tightens the appearance of pores, while hyaluronic acid pulls moisture deep into the skin and holds it there, up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. Vitamin A encourages gentle cell turnover, refining texture from beneath the surface. Applied after cleansing and before moisturiser, it sets the tone for everything that follows.
The VITAMAN Face Moisturiser is the step that ties everything together, locking in what came before and forming a protective barrier against the rest of the day. The formula sits light on the skin with no greasy residue or unwanted shine, making it easy to wear under anything. Hyaluronic acid delivers sustained hydration that softens the appearance of fine lines over time, while kakadu plum continues its antioxidant work, supporting collagen production and maintaining even tone. Rosella flower extract, naturally rich in alpha hydroxy acids, prevents the dull surface buildup that makes skin look flat by mid-afternoon. A finishing note of acetyl hexapeptide-8, widely regarded as a non-invasive alternative to Botox, relaxes facial tension and softens expression lines with consistent use. Think of it less as the final step and more as the one that makes all the others count.

Overnight Reset
Evening cleansing with the VITAMAN Face & Body Cleanser is nonnegotiable. A full day of pollution, sweat and product buildup needs to be properly addressed before skin can get on with repairing itself, which is precisely what it does during sleep, given the chance. Once that’s done, the OzC Vitamin C Serum takes over. Formulated to work with the skin’s natural overnight renewal cycle, it layers kakadu plum with sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a stable and deeply penetrating form of vitamin C that stimulates collagen production and revives dull, uneven tone. Niacinamide minimises pores and smooths uneven patches, while hyaluronic acid keeps everything hydrated and plump through to the alarm.
The area around the eyes and lips is where fatigue tends to announce itself first: fine lines, puffiness, a general flatness that no amount of good sleep seems to fully resolve. Most routines ignore this zone entirely and it’s a missed opportunity. The VITAMAN Eye and Lip Serum addresses it with precision. Euphrasia officinalis, also known as eyebright, reduces inflammation and visibly depuffs, making tired eyes look more alert without any effort. Coenzyme Q10, vitamin A and niacinamide work together to smooth fine lines and improve elasticity in the delicate skin around the eye. Bilberry extract supports circulation and protects against environmental damage, while a finishing touch of grapefruit peel oil tightens and brightens the area with a clean citrus note: a small step but a big difference.
The Face & Body Cleanser, Face Scrub and Face Moisturiser are available in trial sizes as part of the VITAMAN Daily Essentials Skincare Set, a solid entry point for anyone looking to try the core routine.

We bring a list of the things you will need to craft an environment where you can truly unwind and indulge in some much-needed self-care without stepping outside.

TAKHT JAMSHEED RETURNS, REIMAGINED. Flavours that remain timeless.
The region is living in unprecedented times and stress levels can negatively impact everyone’s lives. In the midst of stressful situations, unwinding and relaxing can help relieve pressure and improve mental health. The good news is that you can recreate the tranquil ambience and rejuvenating benefits of a spa right in the comfort of your own home. Here’s everything you need to know about creating a blissful home spa experience.
Whether it’s through a calming bath, a rejuvenating facial or a relaxing massage, there are countless ways to pamper yourself at home. By focussing on ambience, using luxurious products and incorporating mindfulness, you can turn an ordinary day into a spa retreat.
A clutter-free environment is key. Take some time to organise your bathroom or spa space before beginning your relaxation session. You may even want to add some plants, as greenery can boost your spirit and improve air quality.
The first step in creating a home spa is setting the right mood. You want an environment that encourages relaxation and peace, and this all starts with your surroundings.
Lighting: dim, soft lighting is a staple of any spa. Avoid harsh, overhead lights and opt for candles, fairy lights or Himalayan salt lamps. Candles with essential oils not only provide gentle light but also fill the room with soothing fragrances.

Step into the beauty of the season with “The Spring Table Experience”, a five course set menu from our chef’s creation of modern Italian with a seasonal touch.
Enjoy an elegant midweek escape, every Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with live soft music.

Scents: the smell in the air can be incredibly calming. Use essential oils or incense to create an aromatic atmosphere. Lavender, eucalyptus, chamomile and jasmine are some of the most popular spa scents for relaxation. You can also use a diffuser to disperse essential oils throughout the room.
Sound: nature noises or calming instrumental music can do wonders for your mental state. Consider a playlist with rain sounds, ocean waves or a meditation mix. You could also invest in a white noise machine for a continuous stream of soothing sounds.
The centrepiece of most home spa experiences is the bath or shower. With a little creativity, you can turn your bathroom into a haven of relaxation.
Bath soaks: nothing screams spa day like a luxurious bath soak. Start by adding bath salts, oils or bubbles to your tub. Epsom salt is a popular choice for its muscle-relaxing properties, while essential oils like lavender and eucalyptus can help you unwind.
Face masks and scrubs: pamper your skin with a hydrating face mask while soaking in the tub. There are plenty of DIY face mask recipes you can make at home using ingredients like honey, yoghurt, avocado and oats. You can also use a store-bought option for convenience. Consider using a gentle exfoliating scrub on your face or body to remove dead skin and leave your skin glowing.
Shower ritual: If you don’t have a bathtub, you can still create a spa experience in the shower. Start by exfoliating your skin with a body scrub, followed by a hydrating body wash. For added luxury, you could use a shower steamer, which releases fragrant essential oils into the steam as you shower.
Hydration: Keep a glass of water or herbal tea nearby to stay hydrated. Spa visits often include a refreshing drink, so replicate that at home to enhance relaxation.

A home spa day is all about indulging in self-care. Here are a few treatments you can incorporate into your routine to maximise relaxation.
Massage: a gentle self-massage or a partner massage can help release tension in your muscles. Use a body oil or massage balm infused with essential oils like peppermint or lavender to enhance the experience. You can also use a handheld massager to target areas of tightness, such as your neck, shoulders or lower back.
Manicure and pedicure: treat your nails to some TLC by giving yourself a manicure and pedicure. Start by soaking your hands and feet in warm water to soften the skin, then exfoliate with a scrub to remove dead skin.
Trim your nails and finish with a nourishing cuticle oil. Don’t forget to apply your favourite nail polish for a pop of colour.
Hair care: deep conditioning treatments are a wonderful way to care for your hair. You can use a store-bought hair mask or make your own using natural ingredients like coconut oil, honey and avocado. Leave it on while you relax in the bath or shower to nourish your strands and restore shine.

ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE WITH SPECIAL TOOLS
Incorporating a few spa-like tools into your routine can elevate your home spa experience and take it to the next level.
Facial roller or Gua Sha: facial rollers, typically made of jade or rose quartz, are designed to help with lymphatic drainage and reduce puffiness. Gua Sha tools, used in traditional Chinese medicine, can also help relieve facial tension and promote blood circulation. These tools are a great addition to your facial skincare routine for a spa-like experience.
Heated towels: a luxurious touch that can help soothe sore muscles or refresh your skin. Simply soak towels in warm water, wring them out, and wrap them around your body or place them on your face for a few minutes.
Aromatherapy diffuser: investing in one of these lets you enjoy your favourite essential oils continuously without the worry of an open flame. You can use it throughout your home or specifically in the bathroom to help create a calming environment (if you have pets, make sure it’s animal safe).
Bath tray or caddy: for those who love taking a bath with a book or a glass of grape, a bath tray or caddy is a must-have. These trays can hold everything from candles to drinks to your tablet, giving you the freedom to relax and enjoy your time in the tub.

A truly luxurious home spa day isn’t just about pampering your body – it’s about calming your mind and soul too.
Meditation or yoga: incorporate some mindfulness practices into your home spa experience. Consider spending 10 to 20 minutes meditating, practising deep breathing exercises or doing gentle yoga poses to relax your mind and body. You could even follow a guided meditation video or app to enhance your experience.
Journalling: After your bath or massage, take a moment to journal your thoughts. Write about your feelings, your gratitude or reflect on the day. This can be a powerful way to release emotions and clear your mind.
When your spa time comes to an end, it’s important to maintain the calm and peaceful state you’ve cultivated.
Moisturise your skin: lock in the hydration from your bath or shower by applying a rich body lotion or oil to your skin. Look for products that contain natural ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil to keep your skin soft and nourished.
Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water is essential after your home spa experience to help your body stay hydrated and flush out toxins.
Enjoy a relaxing activity: end your spa day with a calming activity such as reading a book, sipping herbal tea or listening to calming music. This will allow you to maintain your relaxed state and prolong the rejuvenating effects of your home spa.

ANI Clothing has set aside its colourful designs, which define its DNA, to embrace a collection dedicated to denim.
Shivani Aggarwal founded ANI Clothing while she was studying at the Parsons School of Design in New York, embodying her essence and spirit in every creation. The brand name is derived from Shivani’s own name. The designs play with maximal prints and minimal patterns, offering versatile pieces perfect for any occasion.
ANI Clothing first gained recognition for its striking black-and-white designs and unique tie-dye creations. However, the team’s passion for vibrant prints and colours soon led them to develop their own self-hand-painted prints.
However, the brand’s universe has been expanding and following the denim trend, ANI unveils its take on it with DENIM ’25 collection. The creations are a refined exploration of denim through the brand’s sculptural, design-led lens. Rooted in structure, movement and quiet strength, the collection reflects ANI’s belief that everyday materials can be transformed into elevated, intentional pieces when approached with precision and purpose.
Known for its art- and life-inspired design philosophy, ANI reimagines denim not as a casual staple, but as a medium for form and expression. DENIM ’25 moves beyond trend-driven interpretations, offering thoughtfully constructed silhouettes that balance strength and softness, confidence and restraint.
The collection centres around a curated selection of hero pieces – architectural dresses, sculpted bodices and fluid separates – each defined by sharp seams, controlled volume and rich indigo tones. Structured panels introduce clarity and form, while softer draping and pleating bring ease and femininity, creating garments designed to move with the body.

The GCC is positioning itself as a serious player in the global jewellery landscape. We bring regional names that have been in the market for a while, as well as those starting their journey into this vibrant world.
The Middle East is well-known for its love for jewellery and watches. People in this region not only appreciate these special accessories but also wear them daily. This passion has been transformed and the region is emerging as one of the most dynamic centres of contemporary jewellery design. Long associated with heritage craftsmanship and high-value gold markets, the region is now witnessing a new generation of designers who are redefining jewellery through storytelling, sustainability and modern aesthetics. Historically, jewellery in the Gulf has been deeply tied to cultural identity – symbolising wealth, heritage and social status. What distinguishes today’s emerging brands is their ability to reinterpret these traditions in a contemporary language. Designers are increasingly drawing on Arabic calligraphy, regional architecture and personal narratives while embracing minimalist and global design sensibilities.
At the same time, infrastructure supporting emerging talent – such as showcases like Jewellery Arabia and the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, and initiatives like the Van Cleef & Arpels Emergent Designer Prize (an annual competition launched in 2013 in partnership with Tashkeel to support emerging designers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait) – has helped nurture a new creative ecosystem across the GCC.
It’s interesting to notice that many of the region’s most exciting jewellery startups are founded by women, contributing to a more diverse and narrative-driven industry. Another factor that has facilitated businesses’ success is the digital-first growth approach, where Instagram and e-commerce platforms have enabled independent designers to scale quickly across regional markets without relying on traditional retail infrastructure.
The GCC’s affluent, fashion-conscious consumers’ appetite for luxury and pride in their roots make it an ideal testing ground for regional brands to thrive. Moreover, the region’s growing investment in creative industries is helping position cities such as Dubai and Riyadh as global design hubs.
These are some brands to keep an eye on:

For those who value the art of timekeeping, these journeys will forever change how you view your wristwatch.
For centuries, the art of watchmaking has fascinated humankind. Travelling to cities that celebrate this art is a dream for collectors, history buffs and timepiece enthusiasts. From the intricate gears to the flawless finishing, the world of horology is an exquisite blend of craftsmanship, precision and heritage. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a curious traveller with a passion for mechanical marvels, here are some of the top destinations where the world of fine watchmaking comes to life. Switzerland is, without a doubt, the first country to head to, where three cities are a must-visit, followed by Germany and Japan.

No conversation about watchmaking can start without mentioning Geneva, Switzerland, one of the most revered cities in the world of luxury timepieces. Known as the watchmaking capital of the world, Geneva is home to iconic Swiss watch brands such as Patek Philippe, Rolex and Vacheron Constantin.
Patek Philippe Museum: A must-visit for any horology fan. This museum showcases the history of watchmaking, from 16th-century timepieces to the latest innovations. The collection includes several of Patek Philippe’s rarest and most intricate watches, many of which are true works of art.
Flower Clock (L’horloge fleurie): A famous, functional clock located in the Jardin Anglais (English Garden) that symbolises the city’s watchmaking heritage and dedication to nature. Created in 1955, it features over 6,500 flowers that change with the seasons and boasts the world’s longest second hand at 2.5m.
Plainpalais Flea Market: A vibrant, twice-weekly market (Wednesdays and Saturdays) held on the large La Plaine de Plainpalais. It is a popular destination for locals and tourists, offering a wide array of vintage items, antiques, quirky clothing and collectables.
Initium: A watchmaking workshop offering hands-on, immersive experiences where participants learn to assemble their own Swiss mechanical watch under expert guidance. Located in the heart of Geneva, the workshop provides courses ranging from three-hour initiations to full-day sessions, covering movement disassembly, assembly and quality control.

Nestled in the Swiss Jura Mountains, this area offers a unique fusion of Swiss-German and Swiss-French culture, an authentic, non-touristy atmosphere and direct access to stunning natural landscapes. Biel/Bienne is the industrial hub of Swiss watchmaking. The city is home to numerous prestigious brands, including Swatch, OMEGA and Longines.
PLACES WITH HISTORY AT THEIR CORE
OMEGA Museum: Located in the Cité du Temps, this museum offers an immersive look at the brand’s history, including moon-landing watches, James Bond timepieces and Olympic timing technology. You will discover the history of one of the most respected watchmakers in the world.
Planet Swatch: Also at Cité du Temps, this museum is just across from the Swatch headquarters, where Swiss watchmaking heritage meets playful Swatch innovation. Entrance is free and the exhibition features more than 6,000 watches, including rare models and large displays.
Guided Tours: These tours show that the development of watchmaking has left its mark on the city. The guides explain how the first watchmakers began their work and how the industry has developed to the present day.
Watch Academy by CIMIER: Founded in 2010, it is an interactive workshop that allows enthusiasts to become a watchmaker for a day. Participants learn the basics of horology and assemble and personalise their own Swiss-made mechanical watches under the guidance of professional watchmakers.

Also located in the Swiss Jura mountains, Le Brassus is the birthplace of Audemars Piguet, one of the world’s most prestigious and innovative luxury watch brands. Known for pioneering the luxury sports watch with the Royal Oak, this small village is a must-visit for high-end horology lovers.
Audemars Piguet Museum: A place dedicated to the brand, where you can find a collection of rare timepieces and information on the history of the brand, which has defined luxury watches for over a century. The museum also offers insights into the craftsmanship that goes into every creation.
Audemars Piguet Manufacture Tour: The brand offers a guided tour of its workshop, where you can witness the artistry and skill that go into creating its iconic timepieces. Tours are by appointment, so be sure to book in advance.
Hôtel des Horlogers: Located next to the museum, this hotel is themed around watchmaking and offers a curated stay for horology. It blends tradition and modernity to celebrate Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship.
Enjoy the Nature: The surrounding region is stunning in both summer and winter, with breathtaking views of the mountains and pristine Swiss countryside. A visit to Le Brassus feels like stepping into a time capsule of horological history.

In the heart of Saxony, Glashütte is a small town known for producing some of the finest German watches. This region is home to brands such as A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original and NOMOS Glashütte. The town’s history in watchmaking dates back to the 19th century, and it continues to produce timepieces that combine engineering precision with understated elegance.
Glashütte Original Watchmaking Tour: This factory tour takes you through the step-by-step process of making a luxury watch, from the design phase to final assembly. It’s a fascinating experience that will deepen your appreciation for the meticulous art of German watchmaking.

NOMOS Glashütte store: The German watch manufacturer specialises in high-quality mechanical timepieces and is known for its minimalist Bauhaus-inspired designs. However, you can head there for unique souvenirs such as leather watch cases, cleaning cloths, notebooks, pens or even sundials.

Japan may not have the same long-standing tradition of watchmaking as Switzerland, but its horological craftsmanship is now world-renowned. Tokyo, with its blend of traditional and cutting-edge design, is the perfect place to explore Japanese watchmaking.
Grand Seiko Boutique: Grand Seiko is one of Japan’s most prestigious watchmakers, renowned for its precision and craftsmanship. At the Grand Seiko boutique in Tokyo, you can view the brand’s collection, which blends classic elegance with cutting-edge technology.
Citizen Factory Tour: Citizen, another of Japan’s top watchmakers, offers factory tours where you can see the production of its Eco-Drive watches, powered by light and a hallmark of sustainable design.
Tokyo National Museum: While not entirely focussed on watchmaking, the museum offers exhibitions showcasing Japan’s precision craftsmanship across various industries, including horology.
Finding Timepiece Gems: Explore the many watch boutiques in Ginza and Shibuya, where both luxury and indie brands from Japan and around the world are sold.
Whether you’re standing in the workshop of a Swiss master watchmaker, experiencing the precision of German engineering in Glashütte or admiring the engineering behind a Grand Seiko, these watchmaking destinations offer a deeper understanding of the artistry, history and craftsmanship behind the timepieces we cherish. Each city, town and museum provides a unique glimpse into the world of horology, offering an experience that goes beyond ticking hands – into the realm of innovation, passion and timeless elegance.

The promise of new dishes draws Liz O’Reilly to Sato, already a firm favourite that just upped the ante.

Sato at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa has long been recognised as a reliable destination for fans of Japanese food. Now, Chef Kevin De Guzman is set to tantalise us further with a new menu and I was delighted to go along and check it out. Arriving at Sato always feels like an occasion, walking the long, lantern-lit corridor towards the circular aquarium heightens the anticipation of the feast in store. Interiors are darkly intimate, without being overdone and, before long, we’re seated in the sectioned off private dining room where Chef Kevin and our server, clad in a beautifully patterned, traditional kimono, are waiting to greet us.
We’re here to try the new menu items but we tell Chef Kevin there’s one nonnegotiable favourite – of which more later – and he’s very happy to hear we’re so attached to a dish inspired by his much-loved mentor.
First to the table is the Hamachi Crudo – thinly sliced, raw young yellowtail – accompanied by crispy green leaves and edible flowers, sitting in a pool of bright green sauce, a combination of basil, parsley and coconut cream. The flesh is buttery and soft, its delicate flavour perfectly complemented by the light sweetness of the sauce. Almost unfishy, this would be the perfect introduction for someone new to raw Japanese cuisine.
Presentation at Sato is always spot on, but the next new offering goes a step further, introducing Kamikaze Tartlets – pretty little bundles, served in a basket, which my dining companion is tempted to skip around the restaurant with! The deep red beetroot tartlets are crunchy, the perfect foil to the filling of cubed salmon and lightly salty, seared salmon skin, coupled with a dusting of chilli powder, ponzu pearls to bring the umami and black tobiko for a hint of smoke and drama. The initial flavour and texture combination of the beetroot and fish are totally satisfying but it’s the delicate afterburn from the chilli that leaves a superbly flavourful lasting impression.

Next up, my favourite of the new dishes, all of them Kyoto-inspired, the Gyu Takiawase is an absolute triumph. Generous chunks of marinated beef, gamey and deeply flavourful, are tenderly pink in the middle, their silken texture barely needing a knife. They’re accompanied by dashi-infused mash sitting in a pool of gelatinous dashi sauce – the lightly fishy flavour elevating the humble mashed potatoes into something that’s anything but ordinary. On the side, a perfect wedge of purple cabbage – crispy and bright with just a hint of earthy truffle oil, a surprising combination that’s an absolute winner.
And then it’s time for that perennial favourite I mentioned above. The Scallops Shogayaki – Hokkaido scallops in an incredibly aromatic and tasty ginger and soy dressing with a hefty amount of garlic to keep an already sublime dish extra interesting. Scallops are a challenge to cook – trust me, I have tried many times at home – underdone and they veer towards the slimy, too long on the pan and they’re dry and rubbery – but, when perfectly executed, as in this case, they’re hard to beat. The flesh, firm and delicate, is light enough to absorb all the flavours of the dressing and each mouthful is a little bite of heaven – I’m very glad to hear they’re staying on the menu.
Before dessert, I take a short tour around the restaurant to see if anything else has changed. The sushi bar, where I take a bite of firm, pink sashimi and delight in the warmth of genuine wasabi, is still a focal point, open and bright, it offers a great opportunity to watch the chefs at work. I’m drawn by the Teppanyaki grill room where diners are enjoying meats cooked on the flat grill. Smoke rises and the scent of heat and spices fills the air. I’m seriously tempted but, with an eye to dessert, I know my tummy space is limited.

I also pop into the bar, one of my favourite spaces at this eatery, for one of the numerous mocktail options. Dark and intimate with a well-stocked bar, this is a welcoming space that lights up to the sound of karaoke in the evenings – a must visit if you’re seeking a party vibe.
I head back to our table as our server arrives with the final new addition for our visit: Hokkaido Cheesecake. A classic baked cheesecake, it’s rich and creamy, delightfully dense, the baking process bringing the ingredients together in a velvety creamy crumble, the lightly burnt top adding texture to the richness. It’s accompanied by something I haven’t encountered before: olive oil ice cream with sea salt. I’ve seen this on other menus and always avoided it, the idea of olive oil in an ice cream just never seemed appealing. Spoiler alert: I was totally wrong. This ice cream is amazing, the highquality olive oil giving a satisfyingly nutty, earthy flavour, perfectly offset by the hint of sea salt. Definitely very moreish and something for which I’ll be returning.
As our feast draws to a close, I reflect on the changes and the things that’ve remained the same. Sato is as welcoming as ever, the serving team is warm, professional and knowledgeable, always under the watchful eye of Chef Kevin, who’s a perfectionist with a great imagination. The new dishes will make a strong addition to an already stellar menu and I can’t wait to go back when I have space for that amazing teppanyaki.

OHLALA TOOK THE MERCEDES-AMG SL 55 4MATIC+ OUT FOR A DAY, EXPLORING HOW POWER, PRESENCE AND OPEN-TOP DRIVING COME TOGETHER IN PERFECT BALANCE.
Some cars make an entrance. Others take over the moment they arrive. The Mercedes-AMG SL 55 4MATIC+ did both –effortlessly. When it joined us for a day of inspection and driving, it felt less like meeting a new model and more like reacquainting ourselves with a name that has long defined open-top motoring.
This latest iteration carries that legacy forward with purpose, blending modern engineering with the character that has made the SL an enduring icon. From the outset, it promised an experience as engaging as it was refined – and naturally, we were ready to experience it firsthand.
The SL’s proportions are classic, but the execution remains undeniably current. A long bonnet, compact rear and sculpted surfaces give it that unmistakable roadster silhouette – one that looks both powerful and elegant at once.
Our test car sat on 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, which filled the arches perfectly and added just the right amount of drama. Redpainted brake callipers peeked through with quiet confidence, offering a subtle hint at the performance waiting to be unleashed.
The soft top – finished in black – maintained the car’s clean profile whether raised or lowered, while DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps added a
crisp, modern signature. The AMG-specific grille anchored the front with unmistakable authority.
It’s the kind of design that invites double takes. And, occasionally, a third glance when walking away.
Inside, the SL revealed a cabin that felt both indulgent and intelligently designed. The red pepper and black Nappa leather combination created an atmosphere that was equal parts sporty and luxurious – the automotive equivalent of heels you could actually wear all evening – and still enjoy the walk home.
The AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather sat perfectly in hand, while the electrically adjustable multicontour seats offered support and comfort. Ventilated and sculpted, they ensured we arrived looking as composed as when we left.
AIRSCARF added an extra layer of comfort when driving with the roof down after dark, subtly enhancing the open-air experience.
Ambient lighting added a soft glow after sunset, while aluminium trim provided contrast. The result was a cabin that felt curated rather than crowded – luxurious, but never overwhelming.
“The driving experience struck a refined balance –composed when cruising, yet responsive when called upon.”

Technology in the SL was seamlessly integrated into the experience rather than competing for attention. The MBUX system was intuitive and responsive, allowing easy movement between navigation, media and vehicle settings.
Smartphone integration ensured connectivity remained effortless throughout the drive, while wireless charging kept devices powered without clutter.
The Burmester surround sound system delivered crisp, immersive audio that elevated every drive – whether cruising or enjoying a more spirited stretch of road.
The overall experience was cohesive and considered, supporting the drive rather than distracting from it at any point.
Of course, the SL isn’t just about looking good at a valet stand – although it does that exceptionally well.
Under the bonnet, the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine delivered 350kW and 700Nm of torque. The result? A 0–100km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 295km/h.
On the road, performance felt immediate yet controlled. Acceleration built smoothly yet decisively, making both city driving and open-road stretches equally enjoyable.
The driving experience struck a refined balance – composed when cruising,

yet responsive enough to remind us this is unmistakably an AMG. And then there’s the sound. With selectable engine sound settings, the SL allows you to choose your mood – from refined to unapologetically expressive.
The SL’s intelligence extended well beyond performance. Equipped with a suite of driver assistance systems, it quietly supported us throughout the drive. Driver assistance and safety systems worked together to enhance confidence, particularly on longer stretches where consistency matters most. Parking was equally well handled, with camera-assisted visibility making tighter manoeuvres more manageable, even in busier urban environments. It’s this sense of support – present when needed, unobtrusive when not –that added to the SL’s overall ease of use.
By the end of our time with the Mercedes-AMG SL 55 4MATIC+, one thing was abundantly clear: this is a car that understands its audience. It delivers performance without sacrificing comfort, luxury without losing its edge and technology that enhances rather than overwhelms. It’s equally at home arriving somewhere important or escaping it entirely – preferably with the roof down and the soundtrack turned up.
The SL doesn’t just make an impression – it leaves you wondering how quickly you can arrange another drive.

This month, Miss Ohlala talks about a trash-bag moment, a mesmerising creation, a surprise in the fashion world and a brand-inspired café.

Chinese actress Zhang Jingyi appeared at a red-carpet event carrying a yellow trash bag which was immediately (mis)identified as belonging to the fashion house Balenciaga. However, it was just a confusion – we can’t blame the reports, though, it could’ve easily been an item from the controversial brand. The yellow plastic bag was actually linked to her character in her film The One

Schiaparelli is well-known for its unique and sculpted creations. This time, the brand took very realistic cat-head heels to the catwalk. Designed by Daniel Roseberry, the shoes feature hand-sculpted cat faces with intricate details, including fangs, textured fur and whiskers. This example of surrealist fashion is not made from real animals but crafted from resin, foam, felt and faux fur. A piece of art!

A big surprise (leaving many fashion enthusiasts a bit shocked) was the announcement of John Galliano’s two-year partnership with high-street label Zara. The designer will re-author Zara’s archives, deconstructing past-season garments into new semi-couture collections with the first drop scheduled for September 2026. We can’t wait to see how this collaboration will unfold – haters will hate, and lovers will love.

We have seen the lines between the fashion and food worlds blur many times before. This time, Lacoste has opened its first permanent café in Paris, France. Located near the Champs-Élysées, the 100sq/m Café Lacoste features a tennisinspired design and a menu developed with the Giraudi Group, including Polo cakes resembling the brand’s iconic shirts – the perfect destination for tennis lovers.
