“There are some things you can only learn in a storm.” – Joel Osteen “
I’ve called Bahrain home for almost 20 years, and it has always been my safe place –a place of reassurance. There’s a certain rhythm to it that rarely changes. The call to prayer at dawn, morning coffee runs, familiar faces in familiar places. It’s the kind of routine you don’t think about – until something unsettles it.
In recent weeks, that sense of normality has been tested, bringing a sense of unease that’s hard to ignore. I’ve always thought of Bahrain as a place defined by its people. And in these uncertain times, that definition has become even clearer. There’s a quiet strength in the way the community has responded – coming together, looking out for one another and sharing a sense of moving forward. And across the island, Bahrain carries on in its own way. Restaurants and cafés are open. Weekend plans are being made. People are showing up.
At fact, we wanted this issue to feel like a continuation of that rhythm. A reminder of everything that makes the island what it is. Our cover story looks ahead to the Spring/ Summer 2026 fashion trends – because even now, style moves forward.
Keeping with the theme, our travel feature turns to the ‘Big Four’ fashion capitals, for when you’re ready to travel again, and our Fashion Focus highlights H&M MOVE running collection. Speaking of which, don't miss the Al Haraka Baraka challenge – a fantastic chance to stay active and possibly win BD100.
In arts and culture, Artology and Sukoon host a range of art classes, while we chat with the creatives behind Sessions by Pomegranate and The Artsy Space.
Hotels, too, maintain their pace with a packed calendar, including some exciting offerings from The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, Sheraton Bahrain Hotel and InterContinental Bahrain.
On the dining front, we visit The Gulf Hotel’s Takht Jamsheed, Mei Ling and LaRocca, and speak with Foodvest Holding CEO Mateo Ramos about navigating this challenging period.
Elsewhere, our second feature looks at all things pets – the joy, the chaos and the community for our furry friends, while in motoring, we put the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator through its paces and bring you the latest local, regional and global news. And, as always, we round up the latest in beauty, tech and entertainment.
I hope you join me this month in making the most of what our lovely island has to offer –Stay connected, stay safe!
Bye for now…

From painting classes and hand-built pottery to manga illustration and mindful journalling, Artology in Saar and Sukoon in Hamala Hills offer creative options for every age, ability and schedule.
If you’ve been meaning to explore your creative side, Artology in Saar has plenty to offer this month, from learning proper techniques to fun and experimentation, and it’s open to all – beginners, hobbyists and art students. For adults, the Trial & Error art class is a good starting point. It focusses on acrylic and oil painting techniques, with attention given to the fundamentals and concept development. If you prefer something more tactile, the hand-building and sculpting pottery class offers a more therapeutic session. Then there’s Mental Mondays, a casual meet up for adults who need a space to create, have a chat and work individually, surrounded by like-minded people. Younger artists are catered for as well. Doodles and Fun is ideal for kids aged four and above to encourage their creativity and confidence. All Art Painting is for children aged five to 10 years and helps to develop skills and techniques with hands-on painting using acrylics, watercolours, chalks and papers. Preteens and teens (11 and above) can work more independently, building their own art concept and projects, and for students working towards IB, GCSE or A-levels, support to develop and expand their portfolios is available with experienced teachers who understand what’s required. There are also more focussed options, from digital art on iPads and an interactive class exploring and visualising spoken Bahraini Arabic through art and crafts, to anime and manga illustration, as well as sketching classes and mindful art journalling (adults are also welcome). All classes run until June.
Artology’s April lineup includes a two-day workshop inviting kids and parents to create a ‘leg mug’ on April 16 (3pm to 5pm) and April 18 (10am to 12pm), priced at BD20, as well as the Hello April Mood Board & Stencils event on April
23 (3pm to 5pm), priced at BD15, which takes the activity outdoors with a relaxed picnic in the garden. Alongside the creative programme, after-school support is available for Grades 1 to 6 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with various timings), with teachers leading small group sessions in English, mathematics and science, offering a more comfortable learning environment during the week. Out in Hamala Hills, more creative flow and unique experiences await at Sukoon Art – a collaboration between Artology and Sherie Boutik. Drop in, pick an activity from the art menu, join a scheduled workshop or simply spend time on your own project. Artistic guides are on hand at set times during the day, with quieter hours in between for independent work.
There’s also a growing calendar of weekly clubs. Open Circle, a cosy craft meetup held on Wednesdays (priced BD6), centres on crochet in a relaxed, social setting, while the Journalling Club on Tuesdays (priced BD10) invites you to get creative with stickers, stamps, ribbons, colours and materials. Both run from 6pm to 8pm and are easy ways to meet people while trying something new. Sukoon also continues Artology’s academic support, with portfolio sessions led by an experienced teacher for IB, GCSE and A-level students.
Whether you're a complete beginner, a student with deadlines or want to pick up a new hobby, it’s easy to make creativity a part of your routine with these classes. ✤

Sun-warmed palettes, generous proportions and textures you want to reach out and touch: this season, the runways make a compelling case for dressing down without ever dumbing down.

Forget the maximalist moment: fashion is going back down to Earth, quite literally. This season, the palette takes its cues from the landscape: sand, camel and olive dominate the runways, conjuring sun-bleached deserts and quiet forests. It's a shift that feels less like a trend and more like a collective exhale. Brunello Cucinelli leans into flowing silhouettes and natural materials that let the warmth of neutral tones speak for themselves, while Burberry weaves heritage textures and rich browns into its signature vocabulary with effortless ease. Menswear tells the same grounded story. Zegna and BOSS by Beckham build monochromatic looks in olive and sand, where relaxed tailoring and tonal layering do the talking. Qasimi strips things back further with pared-down silhouettes set against natural landscapes, reinforcing fashion's deepening dialogue with the environment. Paul & Shark, COS and Mango round out the movement with refined casualwear in muted shades that sit comfortably between urban polish and open-air ease.

Prints are back and they mean business. This season, decorative motifs move from accent to protagonist, with full looks built around patterns that bring energy, movement and a welcome dose of personality to the runway. ETRO leans all the way in, deploying its signature decorative language across vibrant, layered looks that land somewhere between art and wardrobe. Qasimi takes a similar stance, while Brunello Cucinelli takes the softer path, pairing natural-toned patterns and delicate florals with relaxed summer silhouettes for a result that feels refined rather than restless. In menswear, the approach is characteristically understated. Zegna integrates patterned fabrics into lightweight suits and fluid silhouettes, adding visual interest without disturbing the collection's quiet authority. H&M Atelier chooses graphic stripes and relaxed separates, a clean, modern take that keeps print feeling sharp and season-ready. Zimmermann doubles down with vibrant florals and decorative patterns that remind you exactly why prints earnt their protagonist moment this season.

The suit is having a rethink. This season, tailoring sheds its armour, no more rigid shoulders or boardroom severity, in favour of something altogether more liveable. Silhouettes soften, trousers widen and the entire proposition shifts toward a wardrobe that works as hard at dinner as it does at the desk. Jil Sander distils the idea to its purest form with elongated cuts and restrained detailing. Tom Ford takes a more seductive route, blurring masculine and feminine codes through sleek tuxedo lines that earn their moment after dark. Ralph Lauren reinterprets classic suiting through long coats and clean tailoring with a quietly contemporary hand. In menswear, the evolution is just as compelling. Zegna presents fluid suits in natural fabrics that feel as effortless as they look refined, while H&M Atelier confirms that relaxed proportions and modern tailoring are no longer a contradiction in terms. BOSS leans into the same territory, softening structured silhouettes through lightweight fabrics and proportions that feel anything but boardroom.

Free-spirited dressing is back, and this time it has grown up. The bohemian references on this season's runways are rooted in the expressive energy of the 1960s and ‘70s, but the execution is altogether less festival field and more considered wardrobe. At ETRO and Adolfo Rodriguez, the aesthetic arrives in its most full-blooded form: richly patterned dresses, layered fabrics and intricate detailing that feel like a love letter to eclectic heritage. Brunello Cucinelli refines the spirit through relaxed silhouettes and artisanal textures that speak the language of understated luxury. Ralph Lauren, meanwhile, revisits vintage-inspired patterns and flowing shapes, capturing the romantic ease that has always been at the heart of bohemian dressing.

There is an art to revealing and concealing in equal measure, and this season's designers have mastered it. Sheer fabrics, mesh and delicate layering emerge as some of the most considered tools with movement and texture doing much of the heavy lifting. Tom Ford embraces the moment through bodyskimming silhouettes and delicate mesh that celebrate the female form with characteristic sophistication. Jil Sander and COS approach transparency with architectural discipline, producing sheer pieces that feel as precise as they are poetic. ETRO, meanwhile, weaves translucent layers into its signature vibrant prints, adding both depth and an almost weightless sense of movement. Mango offers a softer entry point: fluid fabrics and body-skimming silhouettes that carry the same sensual energy with a more everyday ease.

Gone is the idea of summer dressing as purely decorative: this season embraces a more relaxed, instinctive elegance. Across collections, silhouettes feel lighter, looser and deeply connected to a sense of movement and ease. At Zimmermann, flowing dresses and soft draping evoke a romantic, sun-drenched escapism, where fabric moves freely with the body. This same fluidity translates into menswear at Zegna, where relaxed tailoring, open silhouettes and lightweight layering reimagine summer suiting with a pleasingly nonchalant edge. Meanwhile, Brunello Cucinelli reinforces this effortless mood through natural tones and breathable textures that feel as unhurried as a long afternoon. Even in more structured looks, as seen at BOSS and Mango, the styling remains soft and unforced, leaning into quiet sophistication over anything that remotely resembles rigidity.

Less has never looked more considered. Minimalism this season moves well beyond the austere cool of the ‘90s, softening into something more tactile, more luxurious and altogether more wearable. The emphasis falls on construction, on fabric, on the quiet confidence of a silhouette that needs no embellishment to make its point. Jil Sander remains the benchmark, presenting sculptural shapes and monochromatic palettes where restraint reads as the ultimate refinement.
H&M Studio Collection brings the sensibility within everyday reach through oversized knits and relaxed tailoring built for long-haul elegance, while COS relies on texture rather than embellishment. In menswear, the message translates into clean lines and tonal dressing. H&M Atelier focusses on refined essentials and carefully constructed basics, pieces that understand modern luxury as something felt rather than seen. BOSS, COS and Mango speak the same language: clean lines, neutral tones and pared-back silhouettes that make restraint look quietly radical.

This season, it is all about what you feel before you even reach out to touch it. Texture steps forward as a design statement in its own right. The collections draw the eye through layered fabrics, intricate embroidery and surfaces that catch the light in all the right ways. At ETRO , sheer textiles and layered patterns give each look an almost tapestry-like depth. Tom Ford turns up the heat with glossy leather silhouettes and fluid eveningwear that play with reflection as much as form. Brunello Cucinelli offers the softer counterpoint through delicately textured dresses. In menswear, texture elevates what might otherwise read as restrained. Zegna presents refined tailoring in softly structured fabrics that add quiet depth, while Burberry and Tom Ford bring a contemporary edge to classic staples through leather and pieces with a glossy, modern finish. Zimmermann adds its own chapter through fluid draping and glossy finishes that give each look an unmistakable sense of occasion.

Workwear has had a wardrobe upgrade. Utility dressing revisits its functional roots this season but arrives considerably more polished with cargo trousers, overshirts and sleeveless vests reimagined in lightweight fabrics and relaxed silhouettes that feel right for the city as much as anywhere else. At Zegna, the utilitarian aesthetic integrates seamlessly with the brand's signature elegance through structured outerwear and relaxed tailoring in earthy tones. H&M Atelier takes a more pared-back approach with cargo trousers, technical vests and layered looks drawn from contemporary workwear codes. Qasimi and Paul & Shark push the outdoor dimension further still, presenting garments that merge urban sensibility with exploration-ready practicality.

One shade. Head to toe. No distractions. Tonal dressing asserts itself as one of the most quietly confident directions in contemporary menswear this season, stripping the look back to let cut, fabric and construction take all the credit. At Zegna, fluid suits and relaxed silhouettes move through cohesive palettes from olive to deep burgundy with the kind of ease that looks entirely effortless. Tom Ford brings monochrome into after-dark territory through sharply tailored eveningwear in rich fabrics and saturated tones. Brunello Cucinelli and H&M Atelier distil the concept into clean, minimalist outfits where tonal harmony does the talking, while Qasimi goes all-out with flowing silhouettes, texture and monochrome styling.

Whether you're a lifelong animal lover or have just welcomed a four-legged family member into your home, life with pets on the island is full of adventure, joy and the occasional happy chaos.
From the most welcoming pet-friendly spots and top-notch grooming, training and boarding services, to the incredible rescue organisations doing meaningful work in the community, there's a whole world of support designed with your pet in mind. And if you're planning to relocate with your furry friend, we've got a clear step-by-step guide to getting them home safely too.

Whether you want a breezy beachfront stroll or a patch of green grass for a game of fetch, here are Bahrain's best spots for a day out with your four-legged friends.

With plenty of pet-friendly spots across the island, it doesn’t take much convincing to plan a fun day out with your furry friends. If you’re looking for a safe, dedicated space, Pet Park in Janabiya is a great choice, purpose-built to allow dogs to roam off-leash, play and socialise, while also creating a community among dog owners. A short drive away, Budaiya Park offers a traditional park setting with more room to wander, shaded areas for a break, along with playgrounds and recreational amenities for the whole family. On the other side of the island, Dohat Arad Park in Muharraq is hard to beat with its scenic walkways along the waterfront and enough greenery to make it feel like a proper day out. Nearby in Hidd, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park is another good option. It’s well-kept, spacious and offers great paths for a long stroll with sea views and plenty of sniff-worthy corners for your dog to explore. If your fur baby prefers sand over grass, head to Nurana Beach in Karranah. It’s usually quiet and gives your doggo the chance to have a good splash around. Over in Amwaj Islands, both Floating City and Kite Beach offer a similar seaside outing with a bit of a livelier atmosphere, especially on weekends.
Once you’ve picked your spot, a little planning goes a long way to ensure the day stays fun and stress-free. Here are some handy tips:
● Always carry fresh water and something portable for your dog to drink from, like a collapsable bowl or pet water bottles.
● Opt for a longer lead, as it gives your dog room to roam and sniff leisurely while staying within reach.

● Check the ground before letting your dog out of the car. Press the back of your hand to the pavement or sand – if you can’t hold it there for five seconds, it's too hot for paws. Booties are a solution, otherwise stick to the grass or wait for the sun to drop.
● It's important to stay cool and keep an eye out for signs of overheating. Watch for heavy panting – if your pet looks tired, it’s time for a water break in the shade.
● If your dog is short-haired or recently shaved, a pet-safe sunscreen (SPF 30 minimum) on the nose, ears and paws helps avoid sunburn.
● After any beach visit, rinse your dog off properly as salt and sand left in the coat can cause irritation.
● Make sure vaccinations are up to date before heading into shared spaces.
● Always bring plenty of poop bags to clean up after your dog. ✤

Whether you’re travelling, working long hours or simply need an extra hand, these pet care spots offer dependable boarding, structured training and grooming services designed to fit into everyday life.

If you’re heading out of town or just need a reliable place to leave your pet for the day, Bed & Biscuits has built a reputation as one of the best options on the island. Open since 2014, the boutique pet hotel is located in the heart of the capital, an easy drive from most parts of Bahrain. A purpose-designed facility set across 43,000sq/ft, its spacious layout allows plenty of room for dogs to explore with grassed and fenced free runs, playgrounds and private play areas.
Dog and cat boarding is at the core of what they do, but it’s not the only reason people come back. There’s a dog day care for shorter stays, a professional grooming service offering everything from baths and haircuts to nail trimming, and even an adorable doggie school bus service that helps with pickups and drop-offs!
Security is also taken seriously, with CCTV systems, fire alarms, fire exits, pet sitters and round-the-clock security guards. With adoption and pet relocation services also on offer, Bed & Biscuits has become a one-stop spot for pet owners in Bahrain. GO: CALL 1740 2350 OR VISIT @BEDANDBISCUITSBH ON INSTAGRAM FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Pet Park Bahrain in Janabiya brings together just about everything you might need for your pet in one place. It’s an easy choice for a casual outing, especially if your pooch enjoys being active and around other dogs.
The outdoor setup is a big part of the appeal, with sprawling fenced play areas and separate parks for small and large breeds. There’s agility equipment for the more energetic ones, along with water stations and even a pet fountain to help them cool off and hydrate. When it’s too hot to be outside, the indoor play area offers a clean, controlled alternative where playtime doesn’t have to stop. Training options are also offered, whether

you’re working on basic obedience or just helping your dog build confidence. And for some extra fun, there’s a swimming pool (and a shallower dip pool) for dogs that enjoy the water, with staff on hand and canine life vests for first timers.
A grooming salon and pet massage/spa is available on-site, along with day care and boarding if you need to leave your pet for longer, with pickup and drop-off services for convenience. Pet Park also has a strong community, with regular visitors, group activities and educational workshops giving it more of a social feel and something you can plan an afternoon around. ✤

From rescue and rehabilitation to rehoming, these charity organisations provide the much-needed support for Bahrain’s strays, working around the clock to give them a safer future.

The Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) has had a steady presence on the island since 1979. Run entirely by volunteers and supported through donations and its thrift shop, this non-profit organisation plays an essential role in caring for animals that have been abandoned, injured or simply left without a home.
At the heart of its work is the Animal Welfare Centre (AWC) in Askar, where dogs and cats make up most of the residents, though over the years it’s taken in everything from rabbits, birds and tortoises to donkeys, camels and even a lion!
The centre operates year-round, accepting animals at any time, with each one assessed individually and given care based on its needs. Experienced kennel staff ensure the animals are kept clean, well fed and exercised, while also looking for suitable new homes where possible. There is also a Catch, Neuter and Release (CNR) programme to help manage the number of stray cats and dogs across the island, free of charge.
Alongside its rescue work, the BSPCA hosts school visits and classroom sessions, teaching children the importance of responsible animal care and volunteering. You can help with adoption by opening your home and heart to one or more of the animals and by supporting the BSPCA’s Thrift Shop, which raises funds to support the cause.
GO: CALL 1759 1231 FOR THE ANIMAL WELFARE CENTRE, 1759 3479 FOR THE THRIFT SHOP OR FOLLOW @BSPCA ON INSTAGRAM FOR MORE INFORMATION.

The Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC), the largest no-kill shelter on the island, has helped save hundreds of animals since its establishment in 1999. It started with the rescue efforts of late British expat, Tony Waters (also known as The Dogfather) and his daughter, growing from a small street rescue into a long-standing refuge for cats and dogs that have been abandoned or abused. Today, it cares for hundreds of animals waiting for new homes. Run mainly by volunteers and supported through donations, BARC depends on public support to look after the animals and keep its operations running. Many animals arrive frightened or unwell, so the focus is on rebuilding trust and preparing them for stable homes, either in Bahrain or abroad, with a strong emphasis on fostering to get animals out of the shelter. In addition, BARC runs the Dogfather's Second Hand Shop to help raise money for the animals and works with volunteers on fundraising efforts to cover essentials like food, veterinary care and shelter upkeep. It also works with rescue organisations in Canada to help animals relocate to loving homes and get a second chance at life. Volunteers travelling to Canada can lend a helping hand by being ‘flight buddies’, escorting the animals from one airport to another. If you’re considering leaving Bahrain, whether for the short-term or permanently, we all know our pets are family and we want to take them along on our journeys. But, sadly, it’s not as simple as turning up at the airport or causeway with Fido or Tiger and going on your merry way.
Here are the steps you need to follow to get your pet safely to your home destination, the paperwork you will need and where to get everything in order. Of course, using a reputable pet relocation service can take the worry out of the whole process, but if you prefer to carry out some of the steps yourself, we’ve got you covered.
● All animals must be microchipped prior to travel.
● Regular vaccinations must be up to date.
● Rabies vaccine must be carried out after the microchip is implanted and you will need to wait 30 days after vaccination to confirm its efficacy (this is known as the titre test and may take two to four weeks for confirmation).
● All the above can be carried out by your regular vet and you will need your veterinary record book with appropriate stamps. It’s also a good idea to provide evidence of deworming and flea treatment.
● If you are planning to relocate your pet through Saudi
Arabia, you will need a Saudi import permit which is issued via the Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture portal on the Saudi Government website. You will need this before you apply for your Bahrain export permit.
● Bahrain export permit is obtained through the Bahrain Government Quarantine Office, which confirms physical check, microchip and vaccination records.
● You will need to present owner’s passport/CPR at both the quarantine office and Saudi border.
● The animal must be transported in a suitable crate or transport vessel. If you are planning to fly onwards from Saudi, this needs to be an IATA approved travel crate. Check your airline for their requirements.
At the time of publication, both India and France had decided to waive some usual entry requirements for pets travelling from the Gulf countries. Others may follow this course of action in the coming days, and it is worth checking the regulations for your destination country.
For those relocating from Bahrain, there are several reputable companies which are more than happy to help with the whole process. Check out some of these on the following page… ✤

International pet travel can be rather daunting, especially when dealing with permits, vet requirements and transport arrangements. But help is at hand – check out these specialist relocators, who can advise and put your mind at ease by managing the process from start to finish.

Delmon Pets Relocators is one of the few services in Bahrain dedicated entirely to moving pets from one country to another. Operating since 2010 in Barbar, with earlier roots going back to 2005, it works closely with its sister company, Delmon Boarding Kennels & Cattery, which also serves as its base.
Ready to help with professional pet relocation services, the company offers guidance from the first enquiry through to the final stages of travel. Whether you’re bringing a pet into Bahrain or planning a move abroad, they handle the process in a structured, step-by-step way.
Import services cover everything from preparing documents and coordinating arrival procedures to managing what needs to happen once your pet lands, while export support includes obtaining permits and certifications, organising veterinary requirements and ensuring everything is in place before departure. Communication is a high priority, with updates provided throughout so you’re not left guessing.
It’s a service built around many years of hands-on experience, helping take some of the pressure out of what can otherwise be a stressful transition for both pets and their owners.

fact experienced Mitsubishi’s all-new Destinator to see how practicality, comfort and versatility come together in one family-focussed SUV.

There was something reassuringly straightforward about the way the new Mitsubishi Destinator introduced itself to us. No theatrics, no overcomplication – just a clear sense of purpose from the moment we approached it. Designed with Middle Eastern families in mind, this seven-seat SUV set out to balance everyday usability with long-distance comfort. During our test drive, it became clear this was a vehicle built to fit into real life. Whether navigating city traffic or stretching its legs on the highway, the Destinator felt like it delivered exactly what was needed, without overcomplicating the experience.
From the outside, the Destinator carried a presence that felt confident without trying too hard. Mitsubishi’s ‘Gravitas & Dynamism’ design translated into a wide, planted stance with sculpted lines that added just enough movement. The large grille and sharp LED headlights gave it a modern face, while the proportions leaned firmly into SUV territory – upright and practical. We appreciated the elevated driving position, which offered a clear view of the road ahead. The 214mm ground clearance added to that sense of capability, especially when the road surface became less predictable. The panoramic sunroof added a sense of openness, while the hands-free tailgate added convenience – with the overall cohesion standing out most. It looked at home everywhere – from daily errands to weekend getaways.
Stepping inside, the Destinator shifted its focus towards comfort for everyone on board. The three-row layout offered genuine space across all seven seats and, during our time with it, sitting in the back row never felt like drawing the short straw. The synthetic leather seats featured an anti-temperature-rise treatment – a thoughtful touch in this climate – while dual-zone climate control, paired with vents for the second and third rows, kept everyone comfortable. We also noticed how many storage spaces had been integrated throughout the cabin. Twenty-five, to be exact – although we stopped counting after finding a place for everything from sunglasses to snacks to that one cable we always carry but never use.
Folding the second and third rows revealed a generous cargo area, making the Destinator just as capable of handling a family trip as it was an airport run with more luggage than planned.
Technology in the Destinator felt accessible, which meant we spent more time driving than figuring things out.
The 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio was clear and responsive, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto providing seamless connectivity. Paired with an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, the setup presented information in a clean format. One of the highlights during our drive was the Yamaha premium audio system. It delivered rich, balanced sound that made everything from podcasts to playlists more engaging –although we’ll admit we spent more time selecting songs than we did selecting routes.

Ambient lighting added a subtle sense of occasion during evening drives, while wireless charging and multiple USB ports reinforced the Destinator’s family-first approach.
Under the bonnet, the Destinator was powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 161hp and 250Nm of torque. On paper, those numbers suggested efficiency with a hint of enthusiasm – and on the road, that’s exactly how it behaved. Acceleration felt smooth and progressive, particularly in urban driving where the CVT transmission kept things refined. On the highway, the Destinator settled into a comfortable rhythm, delivering steady performance without feeling strained. It wasn’t trying to be a performance SUV – and it didn’t need to be.
With five drive modes, including gravel and tarmac, the vehicle adapted confidently when the surface changed. Active Yaw Control added stability through corners, giving the impression the vehicle was quietly helping out.

On the highway, the Destinator settled into a comfortable rhythm, delivering steady performance without feeling strained.”
Safety systems in the Destinator worked exactly as we’d expect – present, effective and never intrusive. Features like blindspot warning and rear cross-traffic alert added reassurance in busier traffic.
The 360-degree camera proved especially useful when manoeuvring in tighter spaces – a feature we quickly became reliant on. Parking sensors and additional driver aids further contributed to a sense of ease behind the wheel. What mattered most was how naturally these systems integrated into the drive. They supported rather than interrupted, allowing us to stay focussed while adding confidence.
By the end of our time with the Mitsubishi Destinator, one thing became clear: this is a vehicle designed for real-world living. It didn’t rely on gimmicks. Instead, it focussed on delivering comfort, practicality and capability in a way that felt honest and well executed.
It handled daily driving with ease, adapted to changing conditions without complaint and offered enough space to keep up with modern family life. For those looking for a dependable, wellrounded SUV that fits seamlessly into both routine and adventure, the Destinator sits comfortably in that space. ✤

With 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Foodvest Holding CEO Mateo Ramos has faced many challenges during his career. He talks about staying calm in uncertain times, the brands’ charitable efforts and inspiring his team to succeed.

The past few weeks have brought a fair amount of uncertainty for businesses. What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how have you navigated them?
Honestly, the hardest part has been the uncertainty. You can plan for a lot of things in business, but when the ground keeps shifting, it really tests you. For me, it’s been about staying calm and being present for the team. You don’t always have perfect answers, but you can be honest, you can listen and you can move forward together. We’ve focussed on taking things day by day, supporting each other and staying flexible.
Foodvest brands have been active in several charitable endeavours recently. Could you share a bit more about what these efforts have involved?
Foodvest brands have been actively involved in giving back to the community, especially during challenging times. During the COVID period, we supported medical workers by providing a large number of free drinks as a gesture of appreciation for their incredible efforts. More recently, we have expanded our initiatives by distributing 500 meals across various shelters, ensuring support reaches those in need. In addition, we continue to offer free drinks to frontline workers, with the total value of these contributions

reaching around BD24,000. These efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting and uplifting the community.
What kind of response have you seen from these community initiatives, and what have they meant for you and your team?
We’ve seen an incredibly positive and heartfelt response to these initiatives. People genuinely wanted to be part of what we’re doing, whether by supporting, spreading the word or contributing in their own way.
This kind of engagement is something we’re very used to from the Bahraini community; it's always been a community that comes together and stands behind meaningful causes. For us and our team, it’s been very motivating and rewarding to witness that level of unity and support, and it reinforces why we continue to do what we do.
In your view, what role should hospitality businesses play during challenging times like these?
I think we have a responsibility to be more than just businesses. Hospitality, at its core, is about people. In tough times, people look for comfort, familiarity – even something as simple as a good meal or a welcoming space. If we can provide that, even in a small way, it makes a difference. And internally, it’s also about taking care of our teams – they’re the heart of everything.
The revamped Fuddruckers and Caribou Coffee branches in Durrat Al Bahrain introduce a new look and feel. What can guests expect from these upgraded outlets?
In Durrat Al Bahrain, both Fuddruckers and Caribou Coffee now have a very modern, beautiful look. The spaces feel fresh, stylish and comfortable, with warm lighting and a great atmosphere. We’ve also added relaxed touches like bean bags, so people can sit back, enjoy their burgers or coffee, and even watch games – it’s designed to be a place where people really want to spend time.
With your experience across different markets and concepts, what do you think keeps a brand relevant today?
From our experience, what keeps a brand relevant today has really evolved. Before, the focus was mainly on operations –getting the basics right and ensuring consistency. While that’s still important, today it’s much more about how you present the brand, how it looks and how effectively you market it. Customers are drawn to strong visual identity, engaging spaces and brands that know how to communicate and connect with them. It’s also about constantly improving, always refining the experience, staying updated with trends and finding new ways to stay fresh and exciting. That continuous evolution is what truly keeps a brand relevant today.
Looking ahead, what are your key priorities for Foodvest over the next period?
Our key priorities for Foodvest are focussed on great product innovation and continuously enhancing how our brands look and feel. We want to keep introducing new ideas and offerings, while making sure our spaces stay modern, attractive and relevant. At the same time, we’re focussed on constant improvement,

refining the customer experience, strengthening our marketing and making sure everything we do keeps evolving with what our customers expect.
In times that test both businesses and people, how has your work as a motivational speaker influenced the way you lead day to day?
This time has been tough on all of us but just like during COVID or any other challenging period, I believe we’ll come out stronger and stronger. Being a motivational speaker has shaped how I lead every day – I focus on staying positive, inspiring the team and helping everyone see challenges as opportunities to grow. It’s about resilience, keeping morale high and leading by example, so we can get through any difficult time together. ✤

In moments of weariness, the soul instinctively seeks a refuge of calm. For those well-versed in Bahrain’s sophisticated culinary landscape, the Gulf Hotel remains the ultimate destination – a storied institution where diverse flavours converge to satisfy every refined craving. On this particular evening, we sought the comfort of long-standing culinary heritage, finding our way to Takht Jamsheed, a venue where authenticity is not just served but meticulously crafted into unforgettable moments.
Taking its architectural cues from the legendary seat of a lost empire, this chic enclave offers an experience truly fit for a monarch. The interior, recently renovated with a contemporary touch, is a masterclass in atmospheric opulence: grand columns and intricate tilework anchor the space that feels both vast and intimate. Walls are adorned with dynastic symbols – stunning shields, ceremonial swords and hand-woven carpets that tell stories of a golden age – while imperial vases and sculpted details complete the palatial aesthetic.
From the moment we arrived, the tone was set by gracious hospitality. We were warmly welcomed and escorted to our table with effortless charm, menus presented with a quiet confidence that suggested we were in capable hands. The seating itself proved invitingly comfortable, encouraging us to settle in and savour the experience at leisure. Enhancing the ambience further, a live singer performed traditional Persian melodies – an evocative soundtrack that lent the evening a soothing, almost nostalgic cadence. Our dining voyage commenced with a welcome platter that was deceptively simple yet profoundly delicious. It featured a curated selection of fresh green leaves, crunchy walnuts and creamy feta cheese, accompanied by paper-thin flatbread. I spread the feta across the warm bread, layering it with peppery rocket, barbeer leaves and fresh basil. The result was a spectacular harmony of textures and flavours – a reminder that, less is sometimes more.
A highlight of the evening was the personal touch extended by Head Chef Mahmoud Jalali, who graciously visited our table to guide us through the menu. Trusting his expertise entirely proved to be a wise decision.
The hot appetisers arrived with impeccable timing. We began with the Kashk Bademjan – fried aubergines and onions finished with dried yoghurt, mint and a drizzle of olive oil. It was sumptuously creamy, with a rich, rounded texture that seemed to coat the palate and set the taste buds dancing. Then came a dish that defied my own expectations: the Nargesi. Despite my usual aversion to spinach, the chef’s insistence that I try it was a stroke of genius. Sautéed in butter and topped with crisp fried onions and a touch of cream, it was an absolute revelation. I tried it with an open heart and left with a new favourite; I shall certainly be ordering it again. From the cold selection, the Mast Moosir proved to be an essential companion to the meal. This traditional yoghurt, infused with shallots and lemon, arrived beautifully garnished with pomegranate seeds and a turnip carved into the delicate shape of a flower. As my companion noted, it was ‘light on the heart’, acting as a superb palate cleanser to prepare us for the feast ahead. We also succumbed to the Salad Ashpaz, a vibrant medley of garden lettuce, purple and white cabbage, carrots and bean sprouts. The crunch of the cabbage and the freshness of the sprouts allowed each ingredient

to shine individually – a testament to the quality of the produce.
As we moved to the main courses, the tone shifted toward a celebration of fire and spice. In true Persian fashion, every dish was accompanied by a variety of aromatic rice, each prepared with a level of care that elevated the plate into a true fiesta of flavours. The grilled kebabs are, without question, the protagonists of the menu. We sampled a selection of lamb and poultry, all executed to charcoal-grilled perfection. The Chelo Kabab Tabrizi, a pairing of minced and filleted lamb, was presented with artistic precision alongside grilled tomatoes, onions and lemon carved into floral motifs. It was a feast for the eyes before the first bite was even taken. Equally sublime was the Loghmeh Zaffarani, where ground lamb was elevated by the earthy crunch of walnuts, pistachios and the floral notes of saffron. Even for my companion, who is especially particular about meat, the Chelo Kabab Koobideh Morgh was a triumph. The minced chicken, seasoned delicately with onions and saffron, was so succulent that I found myself sampling a significant portion off her plate.
No visit to Takht Jamsheed is complete without experiencing the depth of a traditional stew. We opted for the Khoresht Gheymeh Bademjan. The lamb was tender enough to flake at the mere suggestion of a fork, simmered into a rich tomato stew with yellow split peas and silky eggplant. It provided a soulful, grounding contrast to the charred intensity of the grills. One might expect a food coma to follow such a decadent spread, but the meal ended on a remarkably uplifting note. I opted for the restaurant’s signature lemon-mint juice. Unlike the cloying versions found elsewhere, this was remarkably fresh with a distinct earthy depth that sparked a sense of unconditional

happiness. It was perfectly balanced – not too sweet – and served as a refreshing conclusion to the meal (though I did manage to steal a sip of my friend’s Laban, which was equally delightful with its cool infusion of mint and cucumber).
As the final notes of the live performance lingered in the air, we sat for a while to digest and reflect. Takht Jamsheed remains more than just a restaurant; it is a destination for those who appreciate the finer details of hospitality. Between the beautifully set table and the flavours that speak for themselves, it was a night defined by profound contentment. ✤

An exquisite culinary journey took Fernanda Langhammer to Mei Ling, where great food meets stunning atmosphere with a story to tell.

As a journalist, I love storytelling and I believe that everything that comes with a good story has a deeper value. Mei Ling fits into that category; the dining destination is not only a restaurant but a concept, born to entice its patrons as they dine on delectable food.
The story behind the eatery is that Mei Ling, a female Chinese royal warrior with a special connection to dragons (hence the restaurant’s logo), creates a secret society to protect and maintain the world’s balance. The existence of this society is known only through whispers travelling with the wind. Mei Ling, the eatery, carries this perception of mystery and allure and feels extremely exclusive – a dining destination for those who are worthy of being there. The place feels like a hidden spot, and I almost felt I should have been given a password to enter. There is a private car park, a big plus in Adliya, and from the parking area, a path led me to an imposing logo on the wall, and an almost-hidden red door opened as if it sensed my presence. Inside, a copper singing bowl resounded, and a voice welcomed me to Mei Ling. At that exact moment, I knew this was going to be an enthralling experience. The décor is impressive. The lighting is minimal to maintain the sense of secrecy, with floating lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Dark wood, grey tones and red accents in carved walls and passages complement the enigmatic vibe. The space is massive, with various dining rooms, including the Emerald Oasis and the Bamboo Garden (a beautiful terrace to enjoy on good weather days). We dined in the private room upstairs, and the handrail beside the stairs was covered in greenish leather imitating a

dragon’s scales – every detail seemed to belong there seemingly. The cuisine is modern Chinese (with Cantonese and Szechuan recipes), interpreted with authentic techniques and a twist: contemporary ingredients and presentation. For my dining journey, the team (special thanks to Omar and Saran) handpicked the dishes – signature and must-try items.
The dinner started with the Crispy Aromatic Duck Salad and Dao Sliced Salmon. The salad came with a mountain of fresh green leaves hiding the crunchy duck pieces. The contrasts of textures and the tanginess of the lemongrass vinaigrette dressing and pomelo segments made this a complete dish, fulfilling and full of flavour. The raw-sliced salmon came bathed in Szechuan truffle sauce, topped with shredded green papaya and sesame seeds – for me, one of the star dishes of the night. The salmon was super thin and soft, which contrasted beautifully with the crunchy papaya. The dressing had an umami-rich blend, with a unique spicy-numbing sensation from the Szechuan peppercorns, complemented by the musky aroma of truffle, a savoury soy base and sweet notes, creating a complex profile that excited my taste buds. Absolutely delicious. I didn’t let them take the plate away until I was sure every last little piece had been eaten.
Next, a variety of appetisers and dim sum. The Crystal Prawn Har Gao was my favourite. These dumplings are usually filled with minced shrimp, but at Mei Ling, they come in big pieces, which seems like a small detail but makes them much better than usual – wrapped in a delicate, slightly chewy, translucent dough offering a delightful contrast in textures for an exciting bite. The Xiao Long Bao is a fun dish; its bright green dough encases

small pieces of chicken thigh in a warm coriander and Szechuan chilli stock, served with ginger vinegar sauce. Ginger is great to balance the richness of chicken fat. The dumplings come sitting in a special spoon to catch the liquid that pours from the parcels – warm, comfy and perfect for cold nights. The Jasmine Smoked Wagyu were roasted boneless Wagyu ribs glazed in Chinese honey, sitting on top of fried lotus and thin slices of kumquat for a touch of citrus. The meat, as expected, melted in the mouth and delivered the perfect balance between sweet and savoury. We also tried the Truffle Puff, Angus tenderloin with mixed mushrooms encased in buttery Chinese puff pastry, which is flakier than its Western counterpart. It was like opening a little present, yummy and hearty.
The Cantonese Roasted Peking Duck was a show apart. The oven-roasted Chinese-spice-marinated duck came in a special chest, and as soon as the host opened it, smoke filled the room, giving us a hint of the flavour we were about to try. One of the chefs was waiting by our table, ready to slice it skilfully. The meat was tender and soft, and, as one of my dining companions pointed out, because each slice came from different parts of the duck, they had different textures – the ones with fatty skin were juicy and delicious. Served with homemade pancakes, thinly sliced cucumber, red chilli, leeks and Hoisin sauce. From the main course section, the Bashu Style Sea Bass blew our minds. Deep-fried fish served with eggplant, tofu, lotus root and chilli broth. Everything was delicious on its own, but a mouthful with a small piece of each ingredient elevated the experience into a delightful surprise. The Sous Vide Angus Short

were perfectly braised, accompanied by mustard leaves and barbecue sauce. The Ha-Haa Prawn was fried prawns coated in a crispy batter and a flavourful sticky chilli sauce – apparently, it was named Ha-Haa because it makes you laugh; at least we all did after our host’s joke, so I guess it suits.
To end this magnificent spread, a tray of desserts arrived at our table. We sampled the blueberry cheesecake, crème brûlée, chocolate fondant, apple crumble and fresh fruits such as dragon fruit and mango. They were all very light and not too sweet, but the crème brûlée and chocolate fondant were memorable and the ones we would go back to any day.
The dining journey had many wow moments, from theatrical presentations with dry ice and dishes that I am coming back for, to impeccable ambience and good music playing in the background. Mei Ling is the place to be – I unveiled its secrets and became part of this unique society where food does the honours. ✤

LaRocca Ristorante & Pizzeria in Saar has come up with the genius idea of a Wednesday-night special for April. Liz O’Reilly headed there to see what’s on the menu.

LaRocca has been on my radar to try for quite some time, since it opened, in fact. Friends and colleagues rave about the décor and service, as well as the food. So, when owner Nouf Busubaia decided to introduce something a bit different for April, it was the ideal opportunity to check it out.
Found in the chi-chi enclave of Saar Springs, I was won over before I even stepped through the door. The restaurant is approached through a gorgeous terrace area, where crisp white linens adorn the tables and LaRocca signed chairs line the space.
Fresh flowers and greenery are in abundance and a vintagestyle, wheeled ice-cream cart/bar adds a focal point beneath hanging Edison bulbs. Definitely a spot for relaxing. Inside is equally stunning with designer touches at every turn. Walls and ceilings are draped in linens and pleated fabrics to give a luxe touch. Nicely cushioned Wishbone-style chairs promise comfort as well as sophistication and a spiral half staircase leads up to a stunning bar area, where a range of mocktails is mixed. Opulent fabric on the bar stools is echoed on the walls and a vintage cabinet bearing retro photographs sits on black-andwhite flooring. Everywhere I looked, there was something new to discover. I was truly enchanted and I would offer a small tip: if you visit, make sure you check out the bathrooms, they’re fab!
The Wednesday special, or Spring Table Menu, runs in the evenings and consists, in true Italian style much like the eatery’s regular offering, of a set menu with antipasto, primo, a choice of secondos and dolce.
We were immediately brought a ‘benvenuto’ or welcome bite of

garlic focaccia sticks with roasted tomato butter. Served in striped China pots, they set the tone of food that’s almost too pretty to eat and with the light toasting of the bread and deep, richness of the butter, they tasted as good as they looked.
First up was caramlised pear with burrata, citrus pearls, balsamic caviar, wild rocket and cherry tomatoes with a honeycomb tuile. The light sweetness of the pears paired perfectly with the creamy richness of the burrata, beautifully offset by the citrus pearls and balsamic caviar, the gleaming spheres bursting on the tongue with small pops of intense flavour.
The primo was Spinach Risotto & Shrimp, a deeply satisfying combination. The creamy Arborio rice taking on an earthy hint from the spinach, perfectly paired with the sweet, slightly briny flavour of the firmly cooked shellfish. Shaved turnip brought a dash of nature, while a sago tuile added visual interest and a satisfying crunch. I was lucky (or greedy) enough to sample all three of the main courses and, I can honestly say, each was more delicious than the last.
The Chicken Ballotine brought rich puff pastry, crumbly and tasty, wrapped around white-meat chicken generously stuffed with spinach and mushrooms. A combination of light herbs and pepper in the stuffing elevated the mix of flavours to something truly special, with a very faint twist of heat, and a rich bone reduction added the finishing touch for a taste of pure indulgence.
The pan-seared Wagyu steak was velvety in texture, juices flowing from the light pink centre to mix satisfyingly with the pan jus for an explosion of rich umami flavour. Daubs of mashed potato and pickled shallots provided interest on the tongue but

make no mistake, the meat was the star of this show.
Last but not least, my absolute favourite of the main courses arrived. Pan-seared seabass with roasted pear in a honeyrosemary glaze. I must confess, pears with cheese are a favourite combination, so when I realised the roasted pear was stuffed with blue cheese, this was definitely going to become my dish of the day. One mouthful of that sticky, sweet-salty, rich combination was enough to confirm that decision, such a perfect pairing. The fish itself was also outstanding, the skin lightly crispy, flesh firm and tasty and the sweet glaze providing the perfect foil to all the other elements. If any other enticement were needed, it was served with a roasted fig for extra sweetness. A definite winner. In between courses, came a homemade limoncello – tart, sweet and very moreish – and a passionfruit sorbet – light and refreshing – as a palate cleanser.
Then, despite being more than replete, it was time for dessert. And, though I was fully prepared to refuse, one look at the Lemon Blueberry Gateau and I was lost. There was no way I was leaving without at least trying this dreamy confection.
A round of airy lemon sponge, coated in Chantilly cream, gave way under my spoon to a fluffy, light centre with delicate veins of blueberry compote running through it. Shards of blueberry and vanilla meringue, plump sweet fruits and pistachio crumbs made up the whole for a bite of sublimely tender sweetness cut through by the sharp tang of citrus. A dreamy confection indeed, so much so, I dreamt I emptied the plate…
Finishing with a cup of Earl Grey in pretty traditional China, I reflected on my experience and found myself thoroughly impressed. From décor to service, delightful presentation and the thoughtful composition of the Spring Table Menu, LaRocca has got everything right. I’ll certainly be going back before the month’s out.
PS: If you visit on any other day, I'd highly recommend the lemon ravioli and the newly introduced burger - both are to die for! ✤

Some cities are known for their food, their history or their skylines, but if style is your travel inspiration, then look no further than the Big Four – Milan, New York, London and Paris. The undisputed top fashion destinations of the world, each city has its own attitude, its own rules and its own style statement. From elegant boutiques and historic fashion houses to buzzing street trends, explore the capitals shaping how the world dresses!

Few cities live and breathe fashion quite like Milan. Yes, it's Italy’s financial hub, but it’s also its style capital, where ‘la bella figura’ – the art of making a good impression – is a way of life. Home to some of the biggest names in fashion, including Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani and Versace (the list goes on), style here is all about precision and elegance. Think beautifully cut tailoring, fluid dresses, polished leather shoes and structured handbags, worn with a relaxed confidence that only Italians seem to master. Coffee bars become informal catwalks in the morning with people stopping for a quick ‘caffè al banco’ (espresso at the counter) before work.
At the heart of the city lies the Quadrilatero della Moda, Milan’s luxury fashion district bordered by four main shopping streets – the chic Via Montenapoleone, the beautiful pedestrian-only Via della Spiga, the fashionable Via Alessandro Manzoni and the elegant Corso Venezia. Nearby, Via Sant'Andrea and Via Gesù are just as good with polished façades and boutique window displays that are practically art installations. Even a casual afternoon stroll here can feel like a fashion show. A short distance away, the glass-domed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world's oldest shopping arcades, is a must, blending historic architecture with luxury retail (and impeccably dressed locals). Yet Milan's appeal goes beyond glamourous labels.
For a different perspective, head to the charming Brera district, where you'll find independent ateliers, family-run leather shops and emerging Italian designers, alongside contemporary galleries and a lovely botanical garden.

For a deeper look at Milan’s design legacy, the Armani/Silos fashion museum charts the evolution of Giorgio Armani, while the Fondazione Prada merges contemporary art with fashion culture. In Milan, dressing well isn’t showing off – it’s just expected.
Don't Miss: Milan Design Week 2026 | Runs from April 20 to 26.
If Milan is refined, New York thrives on bold individuality. From luxury department stores along Fifth Avenue to Brooklyn streetwear labels, the city's fashion scene is constantly evolving with an exchange of cultures, ideas and influences, making it one of the most dynamic fashion capitals in the world.
Midtown is still the classic shopping destination, with department store icons like Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue home to some of the biggest American brands, including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Tory Burch. But further downtown, neighbourhoods like SoHo, Nolita (North of Little Italy) and the Lower East Side have evolved into creative hotspots filled with independent boutiques, vintage stores and concept spaces where upand-coming designers experiment freely.
Twice a year, the city also plays host to New York Fashion Week, one of the most influential dates on the fashion calendar. Designers debut their latest collections, while outside the venues, the pavements become a spectacle of their own, with street-style photographers capturing editors, influencers and models between shows.
Away from the catwalks, The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is not to be missed, with exhibitions exploring fashion past and present. And then there's the famous Met Gala, which transforms the museum steps into fashion's most photographed red carpet once a year.
What defines New York fashion is its freedom of expression – it isn’t about fitting in; it’s about standing out.
Don't Miss: New York Bridal Fashion Week | Runs from April 8 to 10.
Edgy, experimental and unpredictable, London has always done things differently. One part Savile Row tradition and two parts Camden punk rebellion, the city's fashion identity cannot be contained in a box. This contradiction has produced some of the industry’s most influential designers, including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney – designers who built their reputations by challenging conventions and pushing boundaries. It’s no wonder that London’s fashion style reflects a creative diversity like no other. In Mayfair, Savile Row remains the global home of heritage tailoring, while nearby Mount Street brings together some of the city’s top luxury brands. Knightsbridge has Harrods and the designer-lined Sloane Street. Marylebone High Street is quieter and more curated,

great for independent boutiques away from the chaos of Oxford Street. Further east, Shoreditch and Hackney are where the cool kids are, with vintage markets, streetwear labels and young creatives pushing style in new directions. One of London’s most influential retail spaces is the legendary Dover Street Market – a concept store based on the renowned Kensington Market – popular with fashion insiders. It features avant-garde designer collections and streetwear in ever-changing immersive installations and pop-ups, blending fashion and art.
Of course, we can't talk London fashion without mentioning Central Saint Martins, the art college that's launched more big-name designers than we can count. Its King's Cross campus hosts public exhibitions and graduate shows throughout the year and is worth a visit to catch the next generation of fashion talent in action. For a deeper look at fashion’s past, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) houses one of the world’s most significant collections of textiles and fashion.
At its core, London style is fearless and unpredictable. It doesn’t follow trends – it sets them.
Don't Miss: V&A Exhibition – Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art | Runs until November 8.
When it comes to fashion, Paris still leads the way. The French capital has shaped global style for centuries, its reputation firmly intact as the birthplace of haute couture. The big names - Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton - take the spotlight, while smaller ateliers continue to keep Paris’ bespoke traditions very much alive.
The best of Paris luxury is clustered in a surprisingly walkable area - the Golden Triangle of Avenue Montaigne, Avenue George V and the Champs-Élysées - where fashion houses, Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels sit almost side by side. The equally renowned Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré is just around the corner, and even if you never step inside a single shop, a slow stroll here is an experience in itself.
But Paris isn't all grand boulevards. Le Marais is the city at its most charming with cobbled streets, quiet cafés and a brilliant mix of independent labels, vintage shops and concept stores worth getting lost in. The Palais-Royal is another one to know, its beautiful colonnaded arcades hiding some of the city's chicest boutiques.
Every year, Paris Fashion Week closes the international fashion month circuit, drawing editors, buyers and industry leaders from around the world. During this time, the city’s pavements are watched as closely as the runways.
What Paris does better than anywhere else is make it all look easy. Locals just seem to get it right – impeccable tailoring, luxurious fabrics and timeless silhouettes worn with an effortless instinct. This signature balance of elegance and confidence is why Paris still sets the global pace for fashion.

Since launching last year, Sessions by Pomegranate has brought fresh energy to Bahrain’s entertainment scene, transforming the way people connect with music on the island. Apple Sharma chats with the team about the Sessions concept, what makes it stand out and how it’s reimagining the DJ experience.
fact: Sessions by Pomegranate isn’t your typical music event. How would you describe the concept, what inspired it and what’s the story behind the name?
SBP: Sessions by Pomegranate was built on a simple idea: music doesn’t belong to one kind of place. You don’t need a club or a stage to experience it properly. Music already exists in our everyday spaces like grocery stores, cafés, clothing shops but most people treat it as background noise. We wanted to bring it back to the forefront.
The concept is about placing artists in unexpected environments and turning ordinary moments into something immersive. It’s a reminder that if a song moves you while you’re doing something as simple as shopping or having coffee, you’re allowed to feel it, dance a little, enjoy it. It’s about reconnecting people with music in a more natural, human way.
We’re introducing people to electronic music in a way that feels accessible, not intimidating. And at the core of everything, it’s about supporting artists – giving them a platform to perform, express themselves and have their stories documented and shared. We feature artists locally, regionally and globally. As for the name, it’s intentionally simple. ‘Sessions’ came from how it all started – just the idea of having a DJ session somewhere, anywhere. ‘Pomegranate’ is more personal; it comes from the Arabic word ‘Romaan’, which is also my name. So, the name sits between something casual and something personal, just like the project.
fact: In the team, what role do each of you play in making Sessions happen?
SBP: Sessions by Pomegranate works because each of us bring a different strength to the table, and together it all clicks.
I [Romaan Ahmed, Founder and CEO] lead the vision, shaping the artistic and musical direction. From selecting venues to curating the sound and choosing the artists, everything is guided by intention. Ghassan Barakat [Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer] drives PR, marketing and partnerships. He understands how to position Sessions, how to communicate it and how to get people talking. He focusses on building genuine relationships, so every project ends with long-term partners, not just one-off deals. Rizwan Khalid [Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer] is the backbone of operations. He manages everything behind the scenes to ensure things runs smoothly. With his experience in concerts, artist booking and hospitality, he makes sure artists feel comfortable, respected and part of what we’re building. Anas Barakat [Chief Technology Officer] leads the tech side, creating systems that simplify how we operate and connect with people. From building our website to enhancing how audiences, artists and partners engage with us digitally, he’s constantly finding new ways to push Sessions forward.
fact: Your events often take place in unexpected spaces. What makes this aspect so important and what do you look for in a venue?
SBP: There’s something powerful about placing music where people don’t expect it. Seeing a crowd fully present and enjoying themselves in a supermarket or a café hits differently than a

traditional club setting – the contrast creates a more memorable, almost surreal experience that people don’t forget.
These spaces also bring in a different kind of crowd. People who might not usually go out to clubs suddenly find themselves experiencing electronic music in a more natural, accessible way. That shift sparks curiosity, inspires people and sometimes pushes them to explore music themselves.
These environments make it easier for people to connect. The setting feels more familiar, less intimidating, so conversations happen more naturally, whether it’s friendships, collaborations or something more.
When it comes to choosing venues, it’s less about strict criteria and more about openness. We look for spaces that are willing to embrace the idea and trust the process. We focus on preserving the identity of the place, keeping it as close to its everyday form as possible, while subtly transforming it through music and energy.
fact: How do you go about finding new artists?
SBP: Finding artists isn’t the difficult part, especially in Bahrain, where everything feels closely connected and word travels fast. Social media has also made it easier than ever to discover talent and dive into how people sound, what they play and how they express themselves.

But for us, it’s never just about finding an artist, it’s about finding the right artist for the right moment. We spend time listening to their sets, understanding their taste, their energy and how they build a journey through music. Sometimes that turns into sitting down with them in person, listening together and getting a feel for who they are beyond the decks. A lot of those moments naturally turn into genuine friendships, which is a big part of how we like to work.
A lot of artists also come to us. They connect with what we’re building and reach out, which we don’t take for granted. We feature artists from around the world on our platforms, not just to showcase their sound but to share their stories and create connections.
fact: The SET (Sessions Exclusive Treasury) invite-only gatherings sound super exclusive. What’s the idea behind it, and how does one get on the guest list?
SBP: SET was created as a more intimate extension of our regular sessions. While our main events are open to everyone, we wanted to build a space that feels more personal, where everyone in the room is aligned in energy, intention and appreciation for what we do. It’s not about being exclusive for the sake of it but about protecting the atmosphere. There are no plus-ones and access is only through our private WhatsApp group.
To be part of it, people go through a simple vetting process –we take the time to understand who they are and whether they’d naturally fit into the community. If it feels right, they’re in. At the end of the day, it’s about creating a room where everyone contributes to the experience, not just attends it.
fact: What’s been your favourite Sessions event so far and what made it special?
SBP: We don’t really look at it in terms of a single ‘favourite’ because every session carries its own energy and story. But if we had to point to one, the session at Brewed Café stands out. It was the combination of the turnout, the atmosphere and the music that made it click. Everything felt aligned, the crowd was fully engaged, the artists delivered exactly what the space needed and the energy stayed consistent throughout the night. It was one of those sessions where you could feel that everything just worked.
fact: Are there any upcoming Sessions that music lovers can look forward to?
SBP: Definitely. Even with current challenges, we try not to lose momentum. We’re continuing to plan what’s next while making sure everything is done responsibly so people feel safe, comfortable and still able to enjoy the experience.
fact: Looking ahead, how do you hope Sessions will shape the music and arts scene in Bahrain, and maybe even beyond?
SBP: Sessions is often seen as just an events platform, but that’s only one part of it. Long-term, we see Sessions growing into something much bigger. A big part of that is education – creating access for younger generations to explore music and creativity from an early stage.
Another is artist support. Helping artists develop, get their work out there and build sustainable paths for themselves. And of course, scaling the experience itself. A festival is definitely part of the vision, along with other projects that expand what Sessions can be. We’re building something that goes beyond events, something that contributes to the culture in a lasting way. ✤

A finance professional by day and an artist by night, Ameetha George of The Artsy Space has turned her personal passion into a creative initiative. Apple Sharma caught up with the self-taught artist to explore how her journey has evolved from learning into teaching, encouraging others to connect with themselves one brushstroke at a time.
fact: You’re a Chartered Accountant by profession. When and how did your connection with art first begin?
AG: My connection with art began very early in life. I was around four years old when my aunt first introduced me to the world of colours and painting. What started as simple childhood curiosity soon turned into a deep love for creative expression. Growing up, I would often spend my summer vacations attending short-term art classes, which allowed me to explore different techniques and deepen my appreciation for art and colour. However, as life progressed into more competitive academic years and eventually into building a career, family and other responsibilities, my creative pursuits gradually took a back seat. It was during the COVID period that this passion was rekindled. With more time to reflect and reconnect with personal interests, I began painting again and used that time to refine my skills. Since then, I have been creating consistently, exploring different mediums and styles, and rediscovering the joy that art has always brought into my life. I felt really honoured when some of my paintings were chosen to be part of Workart Workshops Annual Exhibition 2024 and 2025 in Bahrain.
fact: How would you describe your personal art style and which medium do you usually dabble in?
AG: While I love doing portraits (realistic/abstract/colourful), my style leans towards contemporary and expressive, often inspired by travel, architecture, nature and moments from everyday life. I enjoy working with oil, acrylics and watercolours. Acrylics are very forgiving and allow me to explore bold colour and texture, while watercolours bring a softer, more fluid and meditative quality to the work. I enjoy moving between these mediums depending on the mood and the story I want to express.
fact: What inspired you to launch The Artsy Space, and what were you hoping to create for Bahrain’s art community?
AG: The first seed of The Artsy Space was planted quite organically during the Eid break in 2024, when I invited a few close friends over to my home for a casual sip-and-paint session. What began as a relaxed gathering among friends quickly turned into something much more meaningful. I saw how art can naturally bring people together and create space for conversation, laughter and connection. Everyone was surprised by what they were able to create, and the joy in the room was truly inspiring. Encouraged by that moment, I went on to host my first official Fall Inspired paint party in September 2024 at a cosy restaurant in Saar. With The Artsy Space, my aim has been to create welcoming, pressure-free and thoughtfully curated experiences where anyone, regardless of skill level, can slow down, reconnect with themselves and explore their artistic side.
fact: Your paint parties welcome people of all levels. What does a typical session look like?
AG: Most people today lead busy lives and do not always have the luxury of spending long hours on a hobby. Keeping this in mind, I design my paint parties to be completed within two to three hours, including short breaks. The idea is to create a relaxing yet fulfilling experience that fits comfortably into a participant’s schedule.

During the session, I guide everyone through a step-by-step painting process, so even complete beginners can follow along with ease. I usually work with acrylic paints, as they are fast drying and allow participants to complete a beautiful piece within the session itself. By the end of the workshop, each guest leaves with a finished artwork that they can proudly take home.
fact: How do you help beginners in your classes overcome the intimidation of a blank canvas?
AG: Since many people feel intimidated by a blank canvas, I often prepare a light base sketch on the canvas beforehand. This helps participants feel more confident and ensures the experience remains enjoyable and stress-free. The themes are often seasonal or decorative, so the finished artwork can become a lovely addition to a wall at home or even be gifted to someone special.
fact: Can painting be learnt by anyone with practice, or do you think some level of natural ability is essential?
AG: I truly believe that painting can be learnt by anyone. Like any skill, it develops with practice, patience and guidance. Natural ability might influence how quickly someone picks up certain techniques, but creativity itself is something everyone possesses. Often people simply need the right encouragement and environment to rediscover it.
fact: You also run online classes. How do these work, and what can participants expect from the experience?
AG: Online classes allow people from different parts of the world to join from the comfort of their homes while still experiencing the sense of painting together as a group. Participants receive a list of materials beforehand, and during the session I guide them through the painting step by step. Even though it’s virtual, it still creates a shared creative moment where participants can relax, learn new techniques and enjoy the process of painting.
fact: Your recent watercolour session on Zoom, A Gentle Pause, created a space for people to refocus and recharge through art. Do you have any similar initiatives coming up soon?
AG: The response to 'A Gentle Pause' was very encouraging and reminded me how powerful simple creative moments can be, offering a small but meaningful pause in the middle of busy or stressful times. I will continue running similar sessions in April and May as well. Most of my online sessions are workshops intended to introduce techniques of painting with a medium, such as watercolour or acrylic paints.
fact: For someone who has never picked up a brush before, what advice would you give to help them get started?
AG: My advice would be to simply begin without worrying about perfection. Many people carry a mental block about painting because they haven’t touched paints and brushes since their school days. Over time, this creates the feeling that art is something reserved only for the 'talented'.
Attending a paint party or a guided art workshop can be a wonderful way to overcome this initial apprehension. When you paint in a relaxed, supportive environment, it helps remove that invisible barrier and you quickly realise that creating art is far more

accessible than you imagined. Once someone completes their very first painting, the sense of accomplishment often inspires them to continue exploring art further.
fact: Which artists, local or international, do you admire the most and why?
AG: The impressionist master Claude Monet inspires me with his ability to capture light, atmosphere and fleeting moments in nature. The bright palette of Vincent Van Gogh seen in The Starry Night and Sunflowers has also influenced my style of art. Closer to home, I deeply admire the legendary Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma, whose work beautifully blends classical European techniques with Indian themes and storytelling. In Bahrain, the work of the renowned Bahraini artist Abbas Al Mosawi has inspired me with its vibrant colours, boldness and strong cultural influences. I have also been fortunate to learn from mentors in Bahrain, such as Irina Kotova and Ana Sfeir, whose guidance helped shape my artistic journey and deepened my understanding of technique and creative expression. ✤

Scheduled for release on April 24, The Great Divide is the fourth studio album by Noah Kahan and was written and developed across multiple locations, including Vermont, where Kahan grew up, and Nashville, a central hub of the American music industry. The project follows his previous releases while introducing new collaborations, notably with producer Aaron Dessner, known for his work with Taylor Swift and The National. Its songs explore recurring themes in Kahan’s work, including long-distance relationships, a sense of place and home, and emotional strain.

By Ally Condie
What begins as a long-overdue getaway quickly turns into something far more unsettling in The Girls Trip. The novel follows a group of women who reunite for a trip meant to reconnect them years after their lives have taken very different paths. When the trip takes an unexpected turn, the atmosphere shifts from nostalgic to tense, and the women are forced to confront not only what’s happening around them, but what they’ve been hiding from each other, and from themselves.

NONFICTION / HISTORY
Ghosts of Sicily
By Mark Harmon & Leon Carroll Jr.
Part history, part true-crime intrigue, Ghosts of Sicily dives into one of World War II’s most unexpected alliances: the collaboration between American intelligence and the Sicilian Mafia. Co-written by NCIS star Mark Harmon, the book brings a cinematic edge to real events, tracing how shadow networks, backroom deals and unlikely partnerships shaped the Allied advance in Italy.

With the weather heating up, it’s time to ditch the sweats and grab some new hot-weather running gear to give your motivation a little boost.

H&M MOVE is a new running collection for men and women, created for the demands and triumphs of long-distance running and training, prioritising performance and endurance without compromising on style.
Though our peak running season has passed, fitness doesn’t stop just because the sun’s up earlier. Training embraces shared routes, early mornings and long runs that become part of a routine, either individually or with friends or a club.
“Raising the standard of accessible performance wear starts with precision in the design process. From fabric weight and performance to pocket and seam placement, every detail is considered to ensure pure comfort over long distances," says Marie Fredros, Head of Design at H&M MOVE. "These details were the starting point for our Spring 2026 running collection, supporting runners across different routes and moments."
The design team focussed on every element of the running experience. Each piece in the collection has been carefully engineered with lightweight materials and high-performance
DryMove fabric to deliver breathability and durability across every distance. Premium trims, reflective prints, perforated details, internal pockets and thoughtfully designed accessories bring a refined, soft-luxury aesthetic to the assortment.
A core palette of black, white and light grey is paired with soft seasonal tones, including blush pink, amazonite blue and butter yellow, creating a harmonious and stylish look. Silhouettes are minimalistic yet performance-driven, ranging from wide and fitted shorts to lightweight tanks, supportive bras, technical vests, caps, sunglasses and tops with removable sleeves, designed for long distances and changing weather conditions. The collection has just launched across the region. ✤

If Willy Wonka had a slightly dodgy cousin, this would be his magnum opus. In late March, a truck loaded with roughly 12 tonnes of KitKat bars simply… vanished, somewhere between central Italy and Poland. Not just any KitKats, mind you, this was a flashy Formula 1-themed range, shaped like racing cars. The sheer absurdity of it all had people convinced it was an April Fool’s stunt. But in a followup Instagram post, the brand insisted it was very real, cheekily adding that the culprits may have taken ‘Have a break’ a touch too literally. As things stand, the chocolate haul remains at large. The brand

even launched a Stolen KitKat Tracker, so you can check whether your snack has a criminal backstory. Meanwhile, social media has been having an absolute field day. Domino's Pizza UK offered their ‘thoughts and condolences’… before casually announcing a brand-new KitKat pizza. KFC apologised, claiming they were merely testing a 12th herb and spice. Ryanair posted a plane with a mouth crammed full of KitKats. In the comments, Adobe chimed in with a dramatic: ‘First the Louvre… now KitKat’. One thing is certain: somewhere out there, someone is having the best break of their life.
In a campaign that mixes pure nostalgia with all-star energy, LEGO pulls off a dream lineup: Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé. This time, they’re all gathered around a LEGO-built World Cup trophy. The idea? Each player tries to add their piece to finish the trophy, like, ‘I’ve got this’. Plot twist: none of them can pull it off. Then a kid casually steps in, snaps in the final piece and boom, done. No drama, no ego. And yeah, it’s hitting hard, the campaign has already racked up over 400 million

views and 35 million likes. It’s also part of LEGO’s bigger game plan ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with everything from collectible minifigures to display sets and football-inspired builds for both kids and grown-up fans. The casting does a lot of the magic too. Messi and Ronaldo bring that legendary rivalry that shaped a whole era, while Mbappé and Vinícius Jr. represent the next wave. Putting them all together? That’s a crossover football doesn’t really give us anymore, and that’s exactly what makes it so enjoyable.
Imagine Love Island , but replace the contestants with flirtatious bananas, jealous grapes and scandal-prone strawberries. That, in essence, is Fruit Love Island , a wildly viral AIgenerated series that has taken over TikTok. Launched in March, the show uses artificial intelligence for everything from visuals to voices and scripts, producing short episodes in just a few hours. Despite, or perhaps because of its absurdity, it exploded, with episodes reaching

nearly 40 million views. The format mimics reality TV perfectly: coupling ceremonies, betrayals, dramatic recouplings, except it’s all performed by anthropomorphic fruit with names like Bananito, Orangelo and Cherrita. Critics call it ‘AI slop’, raising concerns about quality, ethics and even environmental costs. Yet viewers can’t look away. Because somehow, against all logic, a cheating mango and a heartbroken grape have become… compelling television.
