BIOGRAPHY Fabien Dettori is a photographer profoundly aware of the emotional and narrative power of images. His goal is to transmit emotions and beauty at first glance, but not stopping at the surface. Every photo he takes contains layers of meaning, as if to underscore that behind each image, something deeper is hiding. Dettori often works in color, but he doesn't shy away from using black and white, which he likens to a painter using a black pencil for studies and sketches. His shots are influenced by a wide range of cultural references. These include not only painting but also political messages, creating a visual dialogue that invites the viewer to explore their interpretations. Currently, Dettori is working on two projects. The main one focuses on the heritage of great painters like Rodin, Egon Schiele, Pierre Bonnard, Lucian Freud, and lesser-known artists like Lino Selvatico and Eugène Carriere. This project allows Dettori to merge his passion for painting, women, and photography into one piece of work. The second project is about Varanasi, in India, a place famous for its sacred sites and rich culture. Dettori hopes to showcase his work in Italy soon, given his own Sardinian roots. Dettori discovered photography at a very early age, playing with his father's camera at the age of five. Since then, he has continued to hone his craft, becoming a respected figure in the field of contemporary photography. For him, photography is much more than an artistic medium. It's a way to express his emotions, to expose his soul. Despite the excitement and anxiety that comes before each photoshoot, Dettori has continued to challenge himself and his work, always seeking new forms of expression and new ways to engage his audience. Despite his passion for painting, Dettori admires many great photographers. He worked with Paolo Roversi, whom he considers more an artist than a fashion photographer, and shares his love for Polaroid film and large-format cameras. Other photographers who have influenced him include Sarah Moon, Irving Penn, Annie Leibovitz, Nadav Kander, Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, Todd Hido, and Rosalind Solomon.
