Congratulations to Dr. José--Alain Sahel, MD, on being the 2025 recipient of the Proctor Medal from ARVO, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and for being named as a member of the Academia Europea, the pan-European Academy of Humanities, Letters, and Sciences! Established in 1988, the Academia Europea aims to advance scholarship across a range of disciplines in the humanities and sciences, including biological sciences and medicine, physical sciences and technology, mathematics, letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics, and law. Membership is by invitation only following peer nomination and encompasses more than 5,500 scientists across Europe, as well as European scientists living in countries around the world.

Congratulations to Dr. Susan L Whitney, DIPT, PhD, NCS, ATC, FAPTA, who received the “Citation for Distinguished Service, Pennsylvania Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 2025” in Hershey, PA! The award recognizes non-physician contributions to auditory/vestibular health across populations. Dr. Whitney is the first physical therapist to receive the award. Pam Roehm, MD, PhD, who formerly trained at Eye & Ear in Pittsburgh, nominated her for the award.
