More Congratulations Congratulations to Marci Lee Nilsen, PhD, RN, CHPN, FAAN , on receiving the Medical Student Research Mentoring Merit Award! This honor celebrates her incredible dedication, guidance, and contributions to the Longitudinal Research Program. She is also the new co-lead of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Biobehavioral Cancer Control (BCC) Program. Congratulations to Dr. Sahel, who has been named Executive Vice President of UPMC Enterprises and will serve as Chief of UPMC's Health Technology Advancement Program (HTAP)! HTAP is a new initiative within UPMC Enterprises designed to capitalize on the innovative culture that exists across the entire organization. HTAP is clinician-led and enables collaboration, evaluation, and testing of multiple services and products simultaneously. Promising solutions will be fast-tracked to pilot stages within weeks, providing UPMC with early access to the best health technology options for our patients. As Chief of HTAP, Dr. Sahel will chair a committee of clinician leaders that will include Dr. Joel Nelson, Dr. David Okonkwo, Dr. Amit Tevar, and Dr. Quoc-Dien Trinh. Experts from Enterprises and operational leaders from across the system will also come together through HTAP to foster an effective culture of innovation at UPMC. Congratulations to Dr. Carl Snyderman, MD, MBA, inaugural recipient of the Eugene N. Myers and Joseph C. Maroon Chair of Skull Base Surgery! Drs. Myers and Maroon contributed significantly to the chair's endowment. The chair has a focus on the world-class training aspects of skull base surgery that Drs. Myers and Maroon developed at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Snyderman is professor of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and CoDirector of the UPMC Center for Skull Base Surgery. He and center Co-Director Dr. Paul Gardner, MD, Department of Neurosurgery, have trained this generation of surgeons on minimally invasive skull base techniques and are working to train the next generation on even more advanced treatment modalities. Congratulations to Dr. José P. Zevallos , MD, MPH, Chair of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, on becoming the Interim Deputy Director of UPMC HIllman Cancer Center!
