More Than a Roof: Exploring the Holistic Outcomes of Housing First is a partnership report between Homeless Link and Expert Link, placing lived experience at the centre of understanding what works in tackling homelessness. Through its leadership of the peer research strand, Expert Link ensured that the voices of people with direct experience of homelessness shaped the evidence, insights, and conclusions of the study.
Combining quantitative data with peer-led interviews and frontline perspectives, the report demonstrates the transformative, long-term impact of Housing First. Over a three-year period, residents experience significant improvements in physical and mental health, increased access to healthcare, reductions in substance misuse and offending, and stronger tenancy sustainment. Beyond these outcomes, the research highlights growing confidence, social connection, and meaningful use of time—key indicators of recovery and inclusion.
