NATIVE PATHWAYS PROGRAM AT EVERGREEN
NPP promotes lifelong Indigenous scholarship by placing value on cultural and traditional knowledge, working with Indigenous research methodologies, and expanding Indigeneity through academia.
Earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on Native and Indigenous Studies at The Evergreen State College with the Native Pathways Program (NPP). The core Native Pathways Program meets in the evenings two nights a week and is offered at your choice of sites or online. NPP is for junior/senior level students transferring in with 90 credits (or an AA degree). Our generous transfer credit policy gives you credit for the hard work you have already completed. Each quarter, NPP students from all sites come together in Olympia for two weekend gatherings at the Longhouse Education and Cultural Center, the heart of Evergreen’s expanding Indigenous Arts campus.
NPP BALANCES RELATIONALITY, PERSONAL AUTHORITY, INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE, AND ACADEMICS: • RELATIONALITY Balance Indigenous relationships (kinship, cultural, community) with academic study. • PERSONAL AUTHORITY Be personally accountable for your attendance, engagement, and work. • INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE Honor and involve our community’s keepers of cultural and traditional knowledge as teachers. • ACADEMICS Seek a broad liberal arts education through reading, writing, research, and pursuits that complement Indigenous knowledge.
