Program types All credit earned through approved programs will count toward your Evergreen undergraduate degree. Evergreen faculty-led programs Each year Evergreen offers several faculty-led academic programs that include a study abroad component. Live and travel with Evergreen faculty and students while experiencing academic topics. Students pay Evergreen tuition plus a program fee. Evergreen exchange programs Attend a foreign partner institution for one to two semesters while paying regular Evergreen tuition and earning credit toward your Evergreen degree. Current partnerships in Japan, Denmark, and China. Approved consortium partners Study abroad with approved program providers in over 200 locations around the world. Remain enrolled at Evergreen but pay the provider’s fees rather than Evergreen tuition. Visit evergreen.edu/studyabroad/approved-partner-programs for a list of providers. Study abroad contracts and internships Advanced students can create their own study abroad experience through an Independent Learning Contract or Internship Learning Contract with the help of a faculty advisor. Continue paying Evergreen tuition.
How much does study abroad cost? It depends. Except Approved Consortium Partners, study abroad students pay their regular Evergreen tuition. Many programs also have a set fee for housing, food, and excursions. Additional expenses may include: housing, meals, in-country transportation, visa and passport fees, airfare, personal expenses, and health insurance. Ways to fund study abroad You can use all your regular financial aid to pay for study abroad. Talk with the financial aid office to learn how to expand your aid package due to the increased cost of attendance. You may also be eligible for loans, scholarships, and grants. Scholarships Evergreen Travel Abroad Scholarships Thanks to the generosity of donors, Evergreen can offer scholarships (typically between $1,000 - $3,000) to select Evergreen applicants planning to study abroad. Gilman International Scholarships Evergreen is a top Gilman recipient institution! Students can receive up to $5,000 to participate in study abroad programs through this federal scholarship program. Other external scholarships The Offices of International Programs & Services and Undergraduate Scholarships help students locate external scholarships for study abroad programs.
