ABOUT THE QUIRING CHAMBER PLAYERS Host Reg Quiring has performed as principal violist of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Quebec Symphony and Vancouver Symphony. He often performs as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in concert and on CBC radio. As a chamber musician, Reg has performed in the Vancouver Chamber Music Festival, Vancouver New Music Ensemble, Standing Wave Ensemble, Vetta Chamber Players, Turning Point Ensemble and Quiring Chamber Players. Reg and his wife, Rosemary O’Connor, are the Davidsbündler Duo and as such have recorded a CD of works for viola and piano and given concerts in many parts of British Columbia. He and his sister, Angela Goddard, founded and co-direct the Quiring Chamber Music Camp for young musicians. Reg has served on the music faculty at UBC and the Vancouver Academy of Music, and currently teaches at the Quiring Chamber Music School in Coquitlam. Reg studied violin with Lise Elson and viola with Donald McInnes at the University of Southern California, and studied viola at the University of British Columbia with Gerald Stanick. Reg is the Artistic Director of the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra at Evergreen Cultural Centre. Pianist Rosemary O’Connor is an avid chamber musician who collaborates regularly with members of the VSO and Opera Orchestras. In this capacity, she has performed with guest artists such as Ian Swensen, Anita Krause, Dale Barlthrop, Francois Houle, Andy Dawes, Catherine French, and members of the St. Lawrence Quartet. Rosemary has performed solo and chamber music concerts in the US, Canada, and Europe. Other concerts include Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, Music at the Vinyards in Napa Valley, Pender Harbor, Chintimini Chamber Music Festival in Oregon, and Sundays at 4 from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Rosemary currently teaches at the VSO School of Music, and at her home studio in Coquitlam. She is also the Director of the Quiring Chamber Music Camp.
TONIGHT’S SPECIAL GUESTS JORDANA GODDARD | SOPRANO Jordana Solstice Goddard is an awardwinning artist whose musical passion has earned her critical acclaim in performances across Canada and Europe. A recent graduate of the Master of Opera Performance program at the University of Toronto, she studied under the expert guidance of Dr. Darryl Edwards. Dedicated to championing new works, Goddard has collaborated with numerous composers, performing world premieres in both Canada and Europe. She is a frequent soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, performing works ranging from David Lang’s Simple Song #3 in May 2022 to Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre in May 2024 under the baton of conductor Naomi Woo. During her time at the University of Toronto, Goddard performed several leading roles including Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, and Elena in Nino Rota’s Florentine Straw Hat. The same year, she competed for the concerto competition, winning the opportunity to perform Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
JI EUN LIM | VIOLIN As the winner of The Artist’s International competition, Ji Eun Lim was awarded a debut recital at the Carnegie Weill hall the following year; and also made her debut at the Lincoln Center, New York and the Kennedy Center, Washington with the Juilliard Orchestra after winning the Juilliard competition. In Korea, she made her debut with Leipziger Kammer Orchester in the Seoul International Music Festival, and also was the soloist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in the New Year’s Gala Concert.
Ji Eun has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras including Leipziger Kammer Orchester, Italian Chamber Orchestra, Corelli Chamber Orchestra, Novgorod Philharmonic, Irkutsk Philharmonic, Aspen Baroque Orchestra, Lake George Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, Busan Philharmonic, Korean Symphony, Sungnam City Philharmonic, Kangnung City Symphony, Incheon Philharmonic, Seoul National Symphony and many other major orchestras in South Korea. She toured playing recitals, chamber music concerts and international festivals such as Aspen Music Festival, Australian Chamber Music Festival, Tenerife International Music Festival, Radio France Chamber Music Concerts, Savonlinna Festival Chamber Music Concerts, FestiVal Gardena Chamber Music Concerts, Concerto dell’Ensamble Novalis, Chamber Music in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, Korean Festival Ensemble Chamber Music Concert, Gumi International Music Festival, Daecheon International Chamber Music Festival in Australia, Austria, Canada, China, England, Finland, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, and USA. After her education with Gerard Kantarjian in Canada, Ji Eun achieved her Bachelor’s, Master’s degree and Professional Studies program at the Juilliard School in New York. Her studies continued with legendary artists such as Arnold Steinhardt (Guarneri Quartet), Donald Weilerstein (Cleveland Quartet) and Norbert Brainin (Amadeus Quartet). Also devoted in teaching, Ji Eun taught violin and chamber music at YonSei University and HanYang University in South Korea, and also at Montpellier International Music Academy and International Sommerakademie Schloss Heiligenberg. She was one of principles in conductorless chamber Orchestra, the renowned Hwaum Chamber Orchestra for a number of years. Since residing in Vancouver, Canada, she was featured in numerous festivals such as Vancouver Chamber Music Society Series, Music in the Morning Series, UBC Noon concerts, Music on Main, Pender Harbour Chamber Music Festival, and more. Ji Eun is currently on the faculty at Vancouver Academy of Music.
ANGELA GODDARD | VIOLIN Angela Goddard is currently the head of the Strings Department at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver. She was on the faculty of the Vancouver Academy from 1997-2003. Angela received her Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Toronto. She has spent several summers at the Banff Centre, in the chamber music program. Her most influential teachers have been Dr. Lise Elson and Lorand Fenyves. As a performer, Angela has played with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera, and has worked with the Toronto, Hamilton, and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphonies. As a member of the Toronto Chamber Players, as well as numerous string quartets and piano trios, she has performed across Canada and Europe.
GABRIEL QUIRING | VIOLA Gabriel Quiring is a Grade 11 student at Centennial Secondary School in Coquitlam. He has been playing violin since age 4 and has studied with his dad Reg Quiring, Meredith Bates, and currently with Lucia Roh. He is equally at home while playing violin or viola, and is the Principal 2nd Violinist in the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra. Gabriel enjoys playing chamber music, and one of his highlights was playing the Mendelssohn Octet with members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in the summer of 2025. His European debut will be in March 2026 as a midfielder for Coquitlam Metro Ford U17 “Roma” Soccer Team in Manchester City.
SUNGYONG LIM | CELLO Cellist Sungyong Lim, has graduated from Yewon School, the Seoul School of the Arts, and the Korea National University of Arts afterwards. In Germany, he earned a VorDiplom, a Diplom, a konzertexamen’s the highest degree in cello performance and graduated at the top of his class. Sungyong is a part of the famous Borealis String Quartet based in BC, known for its passionate performances throughout America and Europe, and is also part of the well known Aurora Piano Trio along with Yuel Yawney, violinist from Borealis String Quartet, and pianist Libby Yu. Both the Borealis and Aurora give master classes worldwide. His musical talents have been recognized by several artists with whom he studied, including Marcio Carneiro, Johnes Goritzki, Alexander Gebert, Auryn Quartet, and Sung Won Yang. Sungyong’s students have earned full scholarships to institutions such as Curtis, Juilliard, Manhattan, Indiana University, as well as Berlin, Detmold, Köln, and have won several different international competition awards. The Borealis is endorsed by Pirastro Strings and are ambassadors for the famed company. Sungyong plays on a 1843 Enrico Ceruti made in Cremona, Italy.
