“I joked with Mike about wearing the Golden handcuffs.”
After 30 years with Evans Electrical, Jason hasn’t just seen the company grow, he’s helped build it. Joining in May 1995 as an electrician, his career began after a chance meeting on site with Mike, our owner at the time. Mike sadly passed away from Covid, but his belief in people and in Jason lives on through the values and standards that continue to shape the business today
Starting with smaller refurbishments, Jason quickly progressed, delivering major projects including Lloyds Bank on Dumballs Road, the Mercure Holland Hotel, BBC Headquarters Cardiff, Dumballs Road College, Hotel Indigo, Park Gate Hotel, Premier Inn Cardiff, and further afield at London Road Fire Station, Manchester In 2020, he became Operations Director, a role he fondly referred to with Mike as his “golden handcuffs ”
Away from work, slowing down clearly isn’t an option Jason is joint manager of the Wales Over 70s football team, winners of the Tokyo tournament in 2025, and is heading to Brisbane in 2026. He also manages the Newport Veterans Over 60s, has taken up skiing, supports QPR, and rides in the Dalmatian Bike Ride for St David’s Hospice
Jason retires in May 2026, with plans to travel the world in his campervan though we suspect he’ll still be organising a football team along the way. Supported throughout by his wife Rachel of 35 years, and proudly backed by his daughters Kate and Emily
From electrician to Operations Director, from Cardiff to Manchester, from site boots to ski boots, his contribution to Evans Electrical has been enormous We thank him for his dedication, leadership, humour, and commitment over the last 30 years and we wish him an unforgettable retirement adventure
