What Is a Prop Firm? Easiest Way to Funded Account

Introduction: The Path to a Funded Trading Account For most aspiring traders, getting started in the trading world comes with a major roadblock—limited capital. When you're trading your own money, the risks feel much higher. This is where proprietary trading firms (prop firms) come in as a game-changer. Prop firms provide traders with the funding they need to grow without risking their own funds. This is useful both for new traders and experienced traders. What Is a Prop Firm? So, what does a prop firm constitute? A prop trading firm is a firm that offers instruments like Forex pairs, futures, crypto, Indices, and commodities for trading. A trader can get started with them at a nominal subscription fee for buying the prop firm challenge which is a part of the evaluation process. Once you pass the challenges, as a prop trader, the firm offers you a funded account and the traders share a portion of their profits with the prop firm. This ratio mostly ranges around 80/20, where traders get the bigger chunk. Where the prop trader gets a share of 80%, while the prop firm only keeps the 20% share out of the profits. This makes it easy for traders to engage in larger positions, hence the potential for better returns than they would've achieved given their limited funds. A Funded account is an account with virtual funds which can be used to earn real profits.
