Palma NightRun Thousands fill illuminated Palma streets
PALMANOVA came alive at the weekend as thousands gathered along the seafront promenade for Calvia’s Europe Day celebrations featuring music, markets and family entertainment. The all-day event transformed the Passeig de la Mar into a colourful festival space filled with food stalls, live performances, parades and activities for children. Residents and tourists spent the day enjoying concerts, dance performances and international gastronomy under warm spring sunshine while performers and entertainers moved through the waterfront area. Organised by Calvia Town Hall, the celebration aimed to highlight the municipality’s multicultural identity and strong international community. Families explored market stalls while children enjoyed face painting, inflatables and street entertainment throughout the day. The event continued into the evening with concerts and DJ performances attracting large crowds along the waterfront. Organisers described the celebration as one of the municipality’s most vibrant community events of the spring season and said attendance remained strong throughout the day. Europe Day has become an annual tradition in Calvia, where a large international
population has shaped the area’s identity over recent decades. Local officials said the event was designed to celebrate coexistence, diversity and community spirit while strengthening ties between residents from different countries and backgrounds. Palmanova’s restaurants,
cafés and nearby businesses also benefited from the increased foot traffic during the day-long celebration, with terraces and bars remaining busy until late evening as visitors continued enjoying the festive atmosphere beside the Mediterranean waterfront throughout the night.
THOUSANDS of runners and spectators filled Palma’s streets on at the weekend as the sixth edition of the Binter NightRun transformed the city centre into a huge open-air sporting festival. The popular event featured three races including a family-friendly charity mile alongside 5K and 10K routes passing some of Palma’s best-known landmarks. Runners moved through illuminated streets near Palma Cathedral, the seafront promenade and the old city centre while music and entertainment points created a lively atmosphere across the route. Large crowds gathered throughout the evening to watch the races, with bars, cafés and terraces remaining busy as participants crossed the city under special lighting effects. The event officially began at Dalt Murada before the longer races continued through Palma’s historic centre and waterfront areas. Organisers also included live DJs and entertainment stages to create a festival atmosphere rather than a traditional road race.
