Game of Thrones star spotted filming
THE sun shone as women from across Mallorca gathered at Terreno Club to celebrate International Women’s Day at the Women Who Mean Business event. It was hosted by Glow & Reform Wellness Studio in collaboration with Elevation Marketing, in support of SOS Mamas. The inspiring morning brought together female founders, creatives and entrepreneurs for a celebration of connection, empowerment and community. The event began with energising fitness classes, before guests took part in a series of panel discussions featuring women from Mallorca’s business community, who shared their experiences of entrepreneurship, resilience and the realities of building and growing a brand. The morning also highlighted the vital work of SOS Mamas, a local organisation supporting mothers and families in need, where financial donations or contributions of essential items can make a huge difference. The gathering also marked the launch of a new female creative community on the island. Izzy Richardson, founder of Elevation Marketing, announced plans to host regular meetups for female founders and creatives in Mallorca, offering a space to connect, collaborate and support one another. BRITISH actress Sophie Turner has been spotted filming in Mallorca, bringing a touch of Hollywood to the island. Best known for playing Sansa Stark in the global hit Game of Thrones, Turner arrived for a fast-paced commercial shoot, but even a brief appearance was enough to create a buzz among locals and visitors who noticed the production crew setting up along the coast. The actress flew into Mallorca for a tightly scheduled filming session for the French elderflower liqueur St-Germain. Production crews worked against the clock to complete the shoot in just a few hours, with the star spending only a short time on the island before continuing her schedule el-
sewhere. Rain showers and gusty winds complicated filming, forcing crew members to shield cameras and lighting equipment while adjusting the set throughout the day. Despite the unpredictable weather, the team managed to capture the scenes they needed. The island has quietly built a reputation as a magnet for film stars. Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan were spotted recently, not to mention Nicole Kidman. This isn’t the first time the actress herself has worked on the island. Turner previously filmed scenes in Mallorca for the British TV drama Joan, which tells the story of real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington. Mallorca continues to attract international produc-
tions thanks to its varied landscapes, reliable filming infrastructure and Mediterranean light. Productions like these bring more than celebrity sightings. Film shoots often hire local technicians, catering compa-
nies, transport services and extras – providing a welcome boost to the island’s creative and service industries. Winter may be coming in Westeros – but in Mallorca, the stars are shining.
