Airport expansion Credit: Ayuntamiento de Malaga

FASTER JOURNEYS AND IMPROVED EFFICIENCY FOR TRAVELLERS

Malaga expands.

PASSENGERS are set to gain a smoother experience with Malaga Airport’s massive new expansion valued at €1.5 billion. A single terminal is planned to replace the former Terminal 1 and piers B and C to deliver slicker navigation for everyone involved while reorganising passenger baggage and internal operations from scratch. Security and passport controls are growing to process rising passenger numbers with greater efficiency, especially from non-Schengen countries like the UK. Travellers will finish checks more quickly

on European or international routes without past bottlenecks during peak hours making journeys far less stressful overall. Twelve new gates feature on a 1,000-metre pier designed for bigger planes. Capacity is climbing from less than 30 million to 36 million passengers each year reducing delays

while offering better timetable choices. New parking structures will add several thousand spaces for short stays, long-term use rentals and express services. The new designs are expected to be finalised before construction begins in a matter of months. Malaga Province is clearly

currently preparing for continued international growth.
