Red and white Christmas UD ALMERIA players took part in one of their most emotional and rewarding events of the year, with their annual visit to Torrecardenas University Hospital. Captains Fernando Martinez and Adrian Embarba arrived with teammates, joined by Paqui Campoy and Lucia from the women’s first team. The focus was on the children, offering support, conversation, and lifting spirits during a difficult time. In true festive spirit, the players brought toys, games, stuffed animals, and club merchandise, including jerseys and scarves, which they gave and signed for the children. Goalkeeper Andres Fernandez described his first visit as “a wonderful experience to give them a pleasant time and make them smile.” UD Almeria’s visit remains a highlight, spreading joy and warmth to families at Christmas.

The race attracted more than 400 participants.
VERA enjoyed a festive weekend with the 12th Carrera Navideña ‘Ciudad de Vera’, which attracted more than 400 spirited participants to the Plaza Mayor. Organised by Club Atletismo Sureste and the town hall, the event combined sport with a charitable purpose. The morning began with children’s races across six age categories, from Mini Chupetín to Sub 12, covering distances of 50 to 800 metres. Young runners enjoyed an exciting experience while contributing to a
meaningful cause. Adult races followed, with routes of 3.3 and 10 kilometres suited to different fitness levels. The streets buzzed with participants and supporters, creating a lively, encouraging atmosphere across the town. All proceeds went to the Asociación Española de Patologías Mitocondriales (AEPMI), supporting research into mitochondrial diseases and providing guidance to affected families. Donations included children’s registration
fees, €2 from each adult entry, and contributions via the ‘dorsal solidario’ initiative. Vera’s Sports councillor, Antonio J Soler, praised the turnout. “Seeing the plaza full of participants and knowing the event supports such an important cause is wonderful. It inspires us to continue organising it next year,” he said. The Carrera Navideña has become a festive highlight, celebrating community spirit and a shared commitment to helping others.
