ELCHE has come alive with its patron saint celebrations, the 2026 San Antón Festival, and the event is in full swing with music, laughter, liveliness, and tradition in the beautiful Costa Blanca hotspot. The festivities continue until Sunday, January 18 and are one of the most anticipated activities of the year, closing out the holiday season in Elche and attracting thousands to its events and activities. Following a busy Christmas season in Elche, in which hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists participated, residents barely got time to reflect on the holidays before the 2026 festival calendar kicked off with the long-awaited patron saint festivities. The festival, which honours the patron saint of animals and those who make espadrilles, a typical form of Spanish summer footwear, began with a procession with the saint and a mass, reflecting the deep traditional and cultural roots of the festival. Many events as part of this vibrant festival are still yet to be experienced, however. Thursday,
