VELEZ-MALAGA Local Police have been celebrated and awarded the Medal of Police Merit for the first time in the town’s history. Antonio Sanz, the Minister of the Presidency, who received the reward on behalf of the Local Police, congratulated the winners for the 18 points they were chosen for this year. He reminded those in attendance of the importance of the Andalucian Local Police Law, established in 2023, which will regulate the admission, internal promotion, mobility, training, and unified organisation of official personnel. Sanz emphasised the need for officers to have all the means and services, stressing the need to update and improve the resources at their disposal, and made special mention of the new Agency for Security and Comprehensive Emergency Management of Andalucia, which works on a regulatory development that allows the Agency to coordinate with Local Police officers to attend to serious emergencies.

Rincon de la Victoria also boasts nearby Cueva de la Victoria, sections of which first opened to the public three years ago.
