ON the eve of the much-anticipated Three Kings’ Day, Spain gets ready to welcome Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar with a parade that has been celebrated for centuries. The Three Kings’ Parade has its origins in the Christian celebration of the Epiphany, which commemorates the visit of the Three Wise Men to baby Jesus in the manger. Although the tradition of the Epiphany was established in the second century, the custom of the Parade in Spain was consolidated during the 19th century. The Three Kings Parade is set to take place on January 5 in Torre del Mar and various other towns across Axarquia.
