MALLORCA Fashion Outlet is celebrating the worldwide LGBTQ+ community with an outdoor exhibition from artists around the world. Each piece contains a message with themes including acceptance, inclusivity, and fear. There is also a rainbow walkway in a show of support to the island’s LGBTQ+ community. This year, one of Pride’s key aims is to promote acceptance and understanding within schools. Organisers hope to open the minds of young people to the differences that can exists between us, creating a generation of allies and advocates for the LGTBQ+ community. A study in Palma in 2022 found that 69 per cent of respondents had experienced discrimination. Disturbingly, 19 per stated that they had been discriminated against in public services or by government officials.

A NEW website entitled We Love Tourism in Mallorca. Com is fighting back against the anti-tourism movement. Set up by residents, who feel that tourists are key to Mallorca’s economy, the site says - “At ‘We Love Tourism Mallorca’, we understand that Mallorca is facing a saturation problem, but we firmly believe that it is not only the responsibility of tourists, nor is the solution to close the entrance to our island. “The situation is complex and many variables come into play, which is why we cannot demonise tourism alone (the main driving force of the economy of our islands).
