THE Benidorm Neighbour hood Council has revived the ‘Exemplary Neighbour’ award to recognise resi dents whose conduct can serve as a model of coexis tence for the community. Ana Pellicer, the councillor for citizen participation, an nounced the new call for the award, which was last presented in 2019. To nominate candidates for the award, any person can submit proposals until Saturday, September 30. The nomination form is available at the Neighbour hood Council offices and the Citizen Participation De partment. Proposals must be supported by the signa tures of three individuals, including the proposed neighbour’s details, a pho tocopy of their ID, and a de scription of the merits that make them deserving of the recognition. Teresa Garrido, in charge of the Exemplary Neigh bour Commission, ex plained the award’s criteria, emphasising actions related to “respect for people, soli darity, peaceful coexis tence, tolerance among citi zens, personal sacrifice, dedication to solidarity, and personal improvement.” From the submitted ap

plications, the Neighbour hood Council will select three finalists. A jury of five individuals, chosen by the Council Commission and unrelated to any candidate, will make the final selec tion. Previous award recipients may also participate in the jury. The jury’s president, preferably the oldest previ ous recipient, will have a
casting vote in case of a tie. All residents of Benidorm are invited to nominate
somebody who they think deserves credit for their help in the community.
