THE ONCE Social Group reached "historical highs in 2022 of social return for citizens”, in generat ing employment for 756 people with disabilities in the Balearic Islands. Payments of lottery prizes to lucky ticket holders totalled €47.7 million. The data came from the Shared Value Report of the ONCE 2022 Social Group which, in the words of the ONCE dele gate in the Balearic Is lands, José Antonio Tole do, and the president of the territorial council, Alejandra Luque, are "the demonstration that it it is possible to com bine the commitment acquired with society with a model of eco nomic and social prof itability based essentially on social return”. They stated that this commitment is based "on returning to the public every last euro of what ONCE receives from them, multiplied by employment, train ing, education, accessi bility, technology, inno vation, autonomy or inclusion".

A GROUP of activists from AnimaNaturalis and CAS In ternational stripped half naked in Palma to demand an end to bullfighting in the Balearic Islands. Party and VOX are promot ing this type of show with out listening to ethical rea sons or looking at the statistics of low interest in this type of show” explained Eliana Guerreño, coordina tor of AnimaNaturalis.

Garden stories THE storyteller of Mercy reached its halfway point with more than 600 attendees. As every year, the Library of Craft Culture of the Mallorcan government goes out into the garden when the heat arrives, to encourage reading among the little ones. This year's programme includes eight sessions that combine theatre, music and enter tainment by the Espill Theatre company. Three More days of storytelling remain in the pro gramme, with the next sessions at the Misericordia cul tural centre on Thursday, August 24, Thursday, Septem ber 7, and, finally, the last session will be on Thursday September 21. The initiative last year gathered more than 1,100 at tendees throughout the summer.
