The coast of Mojácar is get ting a facelift to become a luxury destination. The Ma cenas Meditaraneran Resort Social Club inaugurated its new look for its debut on Saturday, July 30 with a long list of guests who attended the celebrations, including José María Martín, subdele gate of the Government of Spain, Maribel S. Torregrosa, deputy for Almería’s Popular Party, and Aránzazu Martín, Government delegate of the Junta de Andalucía. After the real estate crisis of 2008, the Macenas Beach Resort was abandoned halfway construction, and the assets went into differ ent hands, including the 18 hole golf course, the social club, land for a hotel, land for development with par tiallyconstructed properties, which went to SAREB (Asset Management Company for Bank Restructuring). in 2021, the Consentino fam ily took over the complex and began to develop it with the aim of creating a luxury tourist destination. The resort is not only eco nomically profitable, but will also be sustainable, and a water treatment plant was constructed to recycle and regenerate all the wastewa ter from the resort into irri gation water for the future golf course, which is current ly also undergoing renova tions to create a topofthe
range course to attract tourists. With an investment of over €2 billion, new infras tructures will be built to im prove the quality of life of
the current residents of this Resort, but will also help to revitalize the tourist offer of eastern Almería, adding val ue to the Mojácar tourist destination.
