Interest ingly, Los Mateos had previously served as a set for the film ‘Terminator’, thanks to its striking resemblance to Mexico. Cáritas reopens CÁRITAS, an NGO, has re opened its shelter camp in Los Urrutias for summer activities after a twoyear comprehen sive reform and a €1 million in vestment. The camp, located on the coast of Mar Menor, was blessed by the bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena. The mayor of Cartagena Noelia Arroyo and the acting president of the region Fernan do López Miras also attended the ceremony. Noelia Arroyo praised Cáritas for transform ing the shelter into a great space for coexistence and Fer nando López Miras recognised Càritas’ 70 years of protecting and helping others.

Since 1959, Cáritas has been providing leisure activities for children and young people from families at risk of social exclusion. The camp features beds, camping areas, recre ational facilities, a swimming pool, and much more. Cáritas launched a fundrais ing campaign, with contribu tions from companies and pri vate donors. The camp is part of Cáritas’ efforts to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by providing equal op portunities for children and young people. Cáritas accom panies minors in areas like ed ucation, family support, and healthy free time activities.
