Catherine McGeer MURCIA stood still to mourn the loss of young Martín, the eightyearold boy from Molina de Segu ra who suffered from in curable cancer. He passed away on Saturday, June 9. As reported in last week’s edition of the Euro Week ly News Martín suffered from an aggressive incur able tumour. A relative of the family said “He has gone peacefully, calmly, with family and without suffering for a single minute.” Diffuse intrinsic stem glioma was the type of cancer that Martín had and it affects 20 to 30 children aged five to 10 annually. Marine Mural IN an aweinspiring show case of artistic brilliance, Kraser, the international ly acclaimed urban artist and a proud native of Cartagena, unveiled his latest masterpiece, ‘In flexión Acuática’, (Aquatic Inflection) to the public on Tuesday June 6. This monumental pictorial in tervention adorns the stairs and tunnel of Calle Gisbert, capturing the essence of Cartagena’s underwater heritage and marine world. The unveiling event wit nessed the presence of esteemed guests, includ ing acting councillors for Culture, David Martínez and Carlos Piñana, who marvelled at the artistic vision brought to life. Spanning an expansive
area of approximately 800 square metres, this work has rejuvenated the urban landscape, enrich ing the Cartagena experi ence through the medium of urban art. The project, which was produced and coordinat ed by the Graffiti and Street Art service of the Youth Department, will become part of the cata logue of works of the Street Museum, an appli cation that documents the works of Street Art in the city. Kraser, also known as José Jorge Nicolás Salas, has participated in nu merous international art exhibitions. His work has been col lected in books and maga zines.

Foreign buyers ACCORDING to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Urban Agenda, the Region has become an increasingly attractive destination for nonresi dent foreigners seeking to invest in real estate. Surg ing ahead with 14 per cent of total property pur chases, the region now ranks fifth in the country, following closely behind locations such as Alicante, Malaga, the Balearic Is lands, and Tenerife. With the exception of the pandemichit year of 2020, this percentage has shown a consistent up ward trajectory, reflecting the growing appeal of the
region among internation al buyers. In 2017, there were 2,883 recorded sales to nonresident foreign ers, a number that has steadily climbed to reach 3,565 in 2022, underscor ing the region’s enduring allure in the real estate market. This looks set to contin ue in the coming months according to data record ed by Idealista. They re ported that the weight of searches by foreign buy ers accounted for 18 per cent of those registered for homes in the region, exceeding the average for Spain as a whole 10. 6 per cent.
