IN the heart of Torre del Mar, one re markable woman is known for her self lessness and unwavering commitment to her community. Her name is Tricia Gabbitas, and she has been nominated for a Women’s Day Award by her dear friend and fellow resident, Patricia Hosey. Tricia’s story is one of kindness, gen erosity, and compassion. When she first began visiting Torre del Mar with her husband, she quickly became known for her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Together, they volunteered at Lux Mundi, a religious and community cen tre that provides support to people of all nationalities. When travelling between Spain and the UK she always made sure to pack their car with various items to bring to their British friends living in Spain, a small gesture that meant so much to many. These days, she shares English magazines to those who cannot afford them but enjoy reading them. She is also known for her kind deeds, which could be anything from helping people with transportation and accom panying them to doctor’s appointments to researching everyday issues and

Powerful silent protest planned NERJA is known for its pleasant lifestyle, including a lively music scene. How ever, recent news of a ban on live music in public spaces has sparked outrage among many locals, includ ing Joe Anderton, who de cided to take action. Anderton was shocked by the police’s heavyhand ed response to festivities on St Patrick’s Day, where they closed down live mu sic at soundproof local venues. In response, a protest has been organised for to day, Thursday, March 30, at 4.45pm at Nerja Town

Hall. The protest’s theme is simple: ‘music brings the world together’. Organisers are urging all music lovers to come together in soli darity, bringing a creative, handmade cardboard gui tar coloured in their nation al flag’s colours. In an excit ing twist, there will be prizes for the first, second, and third best cardboard guitar designs. The protest will be car ried out in a powerful yet respectful way, with all participants asked to tape or cover their mouths to symbolise the silencing of live music.

The silent protest will be held in front of Nerja Town Hall.

Meanwhile, protestors will have a representative inside, advocating for the repeal of the ban. The protest is a call for the authorities to reconsid er their decision and allow live music to be played in public spaces once again. Music is an international language that brings peo ple together, and the resi dents of Nerja are deter mined to keep it that way.

Uniting to fight LORENA and Carmen, two residents in Torrox, were brought together by a dev astating diagnosis. The women are both living with multiple sclerosis. The wom en launched a campaign on Wednesday, March 28, which hopes to help them improve their quality of life by raising funds to buy a pain relief suit. Multiple sclerosis is a de generative disease that af fects their mobility, vision, and neurological function. Despite the challenges they face, Lorena and Carmen are determined to find alter natives and treatments that can help them in their daily lives. Through their research, the women found a special suit which features 58 elec trodes that can stimulate their muscles to reduce their chronic pain and improve their mobility.
