SPAIN’S government has finally an­ nounced that UK licence holders in the country will be able to exchange their driving licence for a Spanish one without taking an exam from Thurs­ day, March 16. The period to allow Brits already living in Spain to do this will be six months. Anyone moving to the coun­ try after March 16 will also be given six months. Announced by the Council of Min­ isters on Tuesday, March 14, the news puts an end to travel misery for thousands of expats left in limbo af­ ter the Spanish government abruptly brought extensions allowing anyone who hadn’t exchanged their licence before December 31, 2020 to contin­ ue using their UK licence to an end last May. Brits will now be able to ‘canjear’ (exchange) their UK licence with the DGT for a Spanish one. Existing cate­ gory permissions (for example, ability to drive heavy goods vehicles or mo­ torbikes) will also be honoured. Spanish living in the UK will similar­ ly be able to exchange their licences under the agreement. The government’s statement said: “The Council of Ministers has ap­ proved this Tuesday the agreement by which Spain and the United King­ dom will offer reciprocal recognition ATHLETES in Almuñecar are gearing up for some high­flying martial arts ac­ tion at the upcoming World Kenpo Champi­ onship in Portugal. cence can now contact the DGT di­ rectly to arrange an appointment to do so. They will first need to check they have their relevant paperwork in or­ der, including proof of residency, and take a short ‘psycho­physical’ test. This includes basic health tests (in­ cluding eyesight, blood pressure) a psychological test and a mobility test.

phase at a Kenpo Centre in Madrid where only the very best were selected by a panel of judges to repre­ sent Spain in the global level competition. These skilled fighters have been selected based on their impressive rank­ ings and past achieve­ ments in national competi­ tions. Team coaches Antonio Estepa and Miguel Rivas, and the ref­ eree­judge Miguel Cabr­ era, will be providing sup­ port to players in the challenge that lies ahead. Kenpo is a modern mar­ tial art that combines ele­ ments of Chinese and Japanese martial arts and Western boxing.

THE British electronic rock band, Editors, clear influencers of the global post­punk scene, have confirmed their perfor­ mance this summer at the Weekend Beach Fes­ tival Torre del Mar (Velez­Malaga). Guitars, synthesisers and a lot of rhythm characterise the themes of this band that shakes up the tracks. Led by Tom Smith, they will perform for the first time at the Torreno fes­ tival, presenting the songs from their new al­ bum ‘EBM’. In addition, the elec­ tro­house of Sunnery Jame & Ryan Marciano is also one of the sur­ prises of this year. The

Dutch will turn the main stage of Weekend Beach into a big dance floor. Progressive house from this impeccable duo col­ laborating with artists like Steve Angello. Reggae dancehall will not be missing in Torre del Mar because there is always a very special hole for this musical genre, this time the fes­ tival gets rid of the thorn from last year and resumes the pending performance with Tar­ rus Riley. In addition, Rosa Pis­ tola, born in Colombia and based in Mexico, defender of the roots of reggaeton, will add a lot of female colour to the varied line­up.
