THE Estepona Council is de­ lighted with the fact that it has now opened the first part of its planned pedes­ trianisation of the seafront at a cost of €1.5 million. After cutting the ribbon to officially open the sec­ tion of the Avenida de Es­ paña between Avenida Car­ los I and Calle Terraza on August 29, Mayor José María García told a large crowd taking part in the ceremony that this is a pio­ neering initiative. He believes it places Es­ tepona at the forefront of sustainable communities, which are committed to quality of life, the well­be­ ing of residents and visi­ tors, the environment and plenty of open spaces for pedestrians.
