THE Estepona Council is de lighted with the fact that it has now opened the first part of its planned pedes trianisation of the seafront at a cost of €1.5 million. After cutting the ribbon to officially open the sec tion of the Avenida de Es paña between Avenida Car los I and Calle Terraza on August 29, Mayor José María García told a large crowd taking part in the ceremony that this is a pio neering initiative. He believes it places Es tepona at the forefront of sustainable communities, which are committed to quality of life, the wellbe ing of residents and visi tors, the environment and plenty of open spaces for pedestrians. Additional work is al ready underway on Aveni da de España, in the sec tion next to the Lighthouse and will extend from there to meet up with the new
