ON Friday, August 19, the Red Cross celebrated World Humanitarian Ac tion Day with the installa tion of an information stand on Albir beach, in cluding a roleplay game called ‘Humanitarian Ac tion’. The objective was to make the general public aware of how the differ ent disasters and emer gencies that occur at an international level are managed, and how the causes and consequences of these disasters, both natural and caused by hu man action, are managed by the Red Cross so that humanitarian aid reaches the affected people. The acting mayor of l’Alfas, Mayte Garcia, and the councillor for Health, Marisa Cortes, went to the beach to see this role play game firsthand, in which people over 10 years of age were able to participate. were required to assess possibilities and re sources, as well as actions that they had to take to resolve conflicts that oc cur during emergencies. “This type of game based activity allows ex periential learning, which helps to put oneself in the shoes, in this case, of the cooperating people in an
emergency situation, which is very significant
and interesting,” Garcia said.
