Tamsin Brown JAROSO SECONDARY S C H O O L in Cuevas del Almanzora ended the year on an extremely positive note. At the end of July, the school re ceived the statistics on how the results of its stu dents’ university en trance exams (PEvAU) compared to those of students in the rest of Andalucia. Jaroso was the only school in the region where all the students passed the exams, which were held in June, and the school’s average marks for almost all sub jects exceeded the aver ages for both the province of Almeria and for Andalucia. In core subjects such as Spanish, maths, business economics, geography, Greek, Latin, history of Spain, philosophy and English, the average

marks were well above those of both Almeria and Andalucia. For exam ple, the average mark for maths applied to social science is 8.935 (out of
10), while the average for Andalucia is only 5.941. “We can only congratu late the wonderful stu dents, who are now
starting a new stage, and the teaching staff at Jaroso Secondary School, who played an essential role in the students’ suc cess,” said the town hall.
