WHERE AND WHEN

NEW restrictions in Andalucia mean that from Tuesday, No­ vember 10 there are restrictions on where we can go and when, unless the reason can be justi­ fied. Travel between municipalities (towns) is not permitted unless for esssential needs. A municipali­ ty is determined as the area cov­ ered by the town hall that you are registered as living in. It will help people to carry doc­ uments to prove their reason for travelling between towns, cities or villages, or within their munici­ pal boundaries, is justified. We are allowed to travel to an­ other municipality for the follow­ ing reasons: Attend health centres, phar­ macies or health care services ­ show the doctor’s referral note or receipt for the medicine pur­ chased. Meet professional, business, institutional or legal obligations ­ Companies can provide their em­ ployees with a document which proves they need to go to work. Travel home ­ Returning to your place of residence can be proved by having the correct ad­ dress on any ID that you carry, however, you may need to prove to the police that you have left the town for one of the above jus­ tified reasons. Taking care of a dependant person ­ the Certificate proving

If you do not have it, you can re­ quest that police accompany you to the home of the person you are looking after. Travel to banks, insurance of­ fices or petrol stations in adjacent areas ­ If you go to get petrol, keep the ticket, but you will also have to prove that you are travel­ ling due to one of the justified reasons. For banks or insurance offices, carry documents to prove where you have been which have the date.

Attend urgent procedures at public, judicial or notary institu­ tions, sit exams or official tests, renew permits and official doc­ uments, amongst other admin­ istrative procedures which can’t be postponed ­ As above, carry proof of appointments or simi­ lar. Go to school, college, infant school or other education centres (except universities, unless it is for practical lessons) ­ Carry proof that you or your child attends the centre, this can be issued by the school.

Situations of necessity or force majeure. Travelling between towns or cities for other reasons, such as shopping, going to a restaurant, visiting friends and relatives, is not permitted. For further information on which restrictions apply in each town or municipality, visit the website www.mapacovid.es. Curfew is from 10pm to 7am, again, unless there is a justified motive, such as working a night shift for example, heading home

from work, reporting an urgent crime or other situation, going to hospitals or health centres for medical emergencies. At 6pm non­essential activity will close, this EXCLUDES: dri­

ving schools, soup kitchens, ITV stations, restaurants with home delivery, launderettes, online or phone­based companies, vets and pet supply shops, telecom­ munications equipment, book shops, stationery shops, morgues, outdoor sports facili­ ties, tobacconists, petrol sta­ tions, newsagents, hairdressers, pharmacies, opticians, or­ thopaedic shops, industrial ac­ tivities, household assistance, family meeting points (for cus­ tody situations), car hire, shops selling food, drink, cleaning products and other first necessi­ ty items. For now, these measures will remain in place in the region (An­ dalucia) until Monday, November 23. Although not imposing home confinement, the Junta de An­ dalucia recommends that people stay at home as much as possible as a precautionary measure. Granada Province, that is, the city of Granada and all towns and villages belonging to the province, is in total lockdown.

Wise move? MALAGA City Council has suspended the 2021 Three Wise Men parade fearing it would attract huge crowds. The traditional ‘Reyes Magos’ procession was due to take place on Janu­ ary 5, 2021. The decision has been made in light of the evolu­ tion of the pandemic, “as it is a public act that would generate incompat­ ible crowds with current regulations and the rec­ ommendations of the health authorities,” said the Consistory on Tues­ day, November 10, in a statement. The city and 11 district councils are now working together to organise an event to allow children and families to enjoy Christmas in some form on or before January 5, and are consult­ ing with schools.

MiMoana beach cleaning THE MiMoana organisation which is dedicated to keep­ ing beaches and the sea clean and safe was advised by Marbella Council not to go ahead with its planned clean up of Bora Bora Beach on November 14 due to re­ strictions on outdoor gath­ erings. Immediately they con­ tacted a number of diving friends and organised a dif­ ferent event last Sunday (November 8) to try to clear some of the huge wave of wet wipes which are literal­ ly covering the sea bed along the Costa del Sol coastline. Some 36 volunteers in all managed to recover 300 ki­ los of rubbish including plas­ tic as well from the seabed in San Pedro around the wreck of El Galeon. The whole event was aid­ ed by the presence of the lo­ cal fire brigade which ferried divers out from the shore in their zodiac boats.

HAVING invested more than €16 mil­ lion in the construction of the 14,300 square metre new hospital building in Estepona, the council has now con­ firmed that the Junta de Andalucia which will operate the facility is now re­ cruiting staff as well as equipping the hospital. Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, has stressed the importance of this brand new health resource to the municipality and its residents who will

be assured of the most up­to­date equipment for their future treatment. Ultimately, it will be a pioneer in the western region of the province of Mala­ ga and will represent a model of spe­ cialised and close assistance, reducing waiting times for tests and consultations and promoting urgent health care. Residents along the Costa del Sol now await confirmation of the date of open­ ing as it will reduce the burden on the Costa del Sol hospital in Marbella.

AS Andalucia applies tighter restrictions, with a curfew and with the announcement of new restrictions that came into effect on Sunday, November 8, the police had to dismantle a huge party at a luxury villa in Benalmadena which, according to the sources, was attended by more than 100 people. The police disrupted the party a few minutes after mid­ night from Saturday to Sunday, November 7 and 8, when the Local Police received a call from local residents, warn­ ing of a party at the villa. Given the scale of the event, several patrols of the Local and National Police went to the scene and established a system to identify as many people as possible. The officers’ arrival caused a real run­off of young peo­ ple, some of whom jumped over the perimeter fences of the luxury property and fled across a field, however de­ spite this, they were able to identify almost 50 partygoers, all young people between 20 and 30 years old. The vast majority did not wear a mask. The police also managed to identify the alleged organis­ ers of the event, one of whom claimed to be the owner of the venue, although he could not produce any documents to prove it. According to the sources consulted, those attending the party have been denounced for breaching the curfew imposed by the State of Alarm, as well as for not wearing a mask and also the organisers for a very serious infrac­ tion. According to the regulations of the Board, meetings and parties that endanger more than 100 people can be punished with penalties of €60,001 to €600,000.

THE Gibraltar government introduced a new law earlier this year prohibiting the deliberate touch­ ing or interfering with Barbary macaques. This came into force in August 2020 and fol­ lowed evidence that the Sars­COV­2 virus, which causes Covid­19, was being transmitted from hu­ mans to animals such as dogs and cats The recent development in Denmark where SARS­CoV­2 variants associated with farmed minks, including cases with a unique variant, have resulted in the mass culling of these animals and is particularly worrying given the implica­ tions this could cause for Gibraltar’s Barbary Macaques in the event that Covid­19 were de­ tected in the macaques, especially if this were a mutation.

Flights to Gibraltar

THE government of Gibraltar confirmed on Monday, November 9 that it has reached an agreement with British Airways to con­ tinue to provide a service to Gibraltar dur­ ing the current lockdown in the UK. After discussions with the government, the airline will be operating a service from London Heathrow to Gibraltar on a twice weekly basis, on Tuesdays and Fridays from November 13 to December 1. easyJet however has ceased all flights to the Rock although they will review their reinstatement as soon as the British gov­ ernment confirms its intentions with re­ gards to allowing international travel after December 1.

Estepona Council is investing a total of €50,000 in special shopping cheques which will be distrib­ uted to those recognised as being vulnerable by local Social Services which may be spent in shops that register to participate. Charity fashion show THE Mistique Charity Fashion show at Mint Kitchen and Lounge Bar in Riviera held on Monday November 9 was a fan­ tastic success which attracted large numbers of people who enjoyed top tapas, cava cocktails and Nero Vodka. Apart from being entertained by singer Frankie B, all of the

the charity that the event was held the day before the new rules concerning 6pm closure of bars and restaurants on the Cos­ ta del Sol and a fantastic €1,000 was collected for Cudeca. In addition, some 40 new bras (and a few pairs of knickers) were donated by those attend­ ing to send to women in Africa.

United Fight THE municipalities of Mijas and Fuengirola have committed to jointly request to be declared as a single urban nucleus due to the perimeter closure of the autonomous community and among the municipalities ruled by the Junta de Andalucía. The initiative has arisen as a result of the proposal made on Mon­ day, November 9, by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González, who has assured residents that he has been in constant contact with Fuengiro­ la, justifying the request given that both towns share streets in which ‘ome walkways belong to both municipal areas with one side Mijas and the other Fuengirola,’ which generates confusion among the neighbours. “We have formally proposed to the city council of our neighbouring municipality that we go hand in hand to jointly request that our cities be declared as a single urban nucleus in view of the mobility restric­ tions between municipalities approved from next Tuesday, Novem­ ber 10, and which will end on November 23.” The Mijas proposal advocates that both municipalities be declared in their entirety, this is made up of three population centres such as Mijas Pueblo, La Cala and Las Lagunas; while Fuengirola insists that there is mobility only with this last area, which separates the A­7 Mediterranean Highway and some connection links. González claims that the initiative has been “well received at the moment by the representatives of the neighbouring town hall,” with whom he has contacted on Tuesday November 10 to make the offer and hopes to have a firm response as soon as possible.

WITH a growing number of unfortunate job losses, desperation is leading more people to crime to survive. Whilst it is not excusable, desperation does strange things to people. So, whilst it shouldn’t be necessary and it would be lovely if we could all leave our doors open, with a new lockdown in place and Christmas around the corner it’s time to be a little more vigilant. It’s also time to check on your neighbours, keep an eye open for each other and if you see something or someone that doesn’t look right, be sure to say something and communicate with other members of your community. Staying vigilant is a team effort. By remaining vigilant, we in­ crease our public safety and domestic security. We are all in this together.

Spain’s First Vaccine SPAIN could be set to get the first Pfizer and BioNTech Covid vaccines in early 2021, according to Health Minister Salvador Illa. Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, November 10, with state broadcaster TVE, Illa said: “The country would initially get 20 million vaccine doses, enough to immunise 10 million people.” This follows news on Monday, November 9, that a vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical companies was more than 90 per cent effective and Illa went on to add that the vaccination would be free for everyone. “We hope that this week or next week some more contracts can be signed with the Pfizer company and with other companies and the first doses could arrive at the beginning of 2021.” According to the Health Minister, enough people would be vaccinated by April-May 2021, so that the fight against the pandemic in Spain would move to another stage. The Spanish government will act to convince the substantial portion of the population who is wary of the vaccine after studies indicated that 50 per cent of Spaniards would refuse to inoculate via a vaccine. However, Illa was convinced that there will be no need to force the population, stating: “I believe that the public will react well, therefore I do not think it is necessary to make it mandatory, although it is something that we cannot rule out.” “We will tell the truth, which is that vaccines save lives,” Illa concluded.

Locked in

A YOUNG woman and her boyfriend have been arrested for lock­ ing her grandmother in a room at the home they shared in Valen­ cia for two years. The 72­year­old was reportedly not allowed to use the bath­ room, and police are looking into whether she was forced to steal by her granddaughter, 22, and her 18­year­old boyfriend. The couple allegedly put a padlock on the elderly woman’s bedroom door in 2018, and sealed the window to prevent her from leaving the home she owns. The elderly woman managed to escape when her granddaughter apparently forgot to lock the door. The victim went to a nearby pharmacy and told a member of staff what had happened. Investigators from the Family and Women’s Attention Unit (UFAM) said the pensioner was allowed into the living room on ocasions but couldn’t access the rest of the house, “not even the bathroom, so had to wear a diaper to re­ lieve herself.” It’s also claimed the granddaughter and her partner ‘slapped and harassed’ the elderly woman. Police are investigating allegations the grandmother was forced to steal from commercial establishments by the detainees. In addition, they are looking into whether the pair withdrew money from the victim’s account.

Cost to be cut THE Spanish govern­ ment is considering low­ ering the cost of masks. The government now considers that the fixed price of 96 cents per unit remains too much for many families. Consumer Minister Alberto Garzón ex­ plained that they have been very concerned about the price of masks since the begin­ ning of the coronavirus pandemic. It recalls that the government estab­ lished a ‘maximum price control,’ which is an ‘anomaly in a market system’ to ensure that there were no cases such as masks at €10 per unit. Garzón said setting the price of masks to 0.96 “is reasonable, but for many families, it is still out of reach.”

Visit ban for prisoners

A NATIONWIDE ban on prison visits and a restriction on inmate calls have been announced by Spain’s General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions to curb the spread of Covid­19. Jails in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands are exempt from the new measures which will last three weeks.

A letter has been sent to all the centres outlining the new mea­ sures to prevent the spread of coronavirus among the prison population, considered a high­risk group, and prison workers. As well as a suspension of visits, inmate telephone calls are restrict­ ed, with a maximum of two calls per prisoner a week.

RSPCA fears Lower Mask IVA

RSPCA England and Wales fears ‘a second spike in cruelty to wildlife’ in lockdown two. The charity said new data has revealed it received reports of more than 2,200 in­ cidents of cruelty to wildlife in 2020, with numbers spiking in May. “From hunting and fighting to beating and mutilation, incidents of ‘illegal activ­ ity’ and ‘intentional harm’ to wild ani­ mals started rising at the start of the lockdown this year,” said the RSPCA in a statement. There were 194 incidents in March, 241 in April, and 381 in May. And the charity is concerned that as the nation goes into lockdown again and everything shuts down, “some may turn to this barbaric behaviour for ‘entertain­ ment’ and incidents may rise.”

Widow could face jail AFTER the death of James Bond franchise superstar Sean Connery, his wife Micheline Roquebrune, 91, has allegedly landed in hot water, however she denies any involvement in a scam over the sale of the couple’s Marbella home. Micheline faces a trial. The scam saw Connery’s lawyers jailed in 2016. However, Connery’s widow has dismissed claims that say she might be facing a €27 million fine over alleged tax fraud over the sale of that villa in Spain as “nonsense.” After Connery’s death, a Spanish judge has now decided that the French-born Micheline should face trial related to the case and must be heavily fined if found guilty of tax fraud. However, she has dismissed allegations as “nonsense.” Sources in Spain claim that the case will ‘not disappear’ as before and that ‘someone has to pay the tax or face the penalties.’

HSBC announce Cuts Boy racer HSBC is set to cut around 100 jobs in UK retail banks as the group looks to continue its restructuring. The move comes after the bank announced that it could start charg­ ing for ‘basic banking services’ and was confirmed by a spokesman for HSBC, who said: “In line with the Group strategy announced in February, we continue to restructure and review the roles required to transform the bank.” Similar restructuring of its commercial banking business was announced last month which will eventually result in around 300 more job cuts. Europe’s biggest bank resumed cutting around 35,000 jobs in June, which was the plan prior to the pandemic in March, however, after a delay, it’s now back on the cards with this latest announcement. Chief Executive Noel Quinn has said the job losses are necessary to re­ duce costs and in turn improve profits, as HSBC grapples with the eco­ nomic hit from the pandemic on its loan books, as well as resulting low interest rates worldwide. HSBC’s cuts to its UK retail banking business follows a similar move by rival Lloyds Banking Group on Wednesday, November 4.

Husseini has been banned from driving. Judge Lindsey Rose has delayed sentencing until December 2, but was told it was an extremely seri­ ous matter although he was freed on bail until sentencing.

Covid recovering PIERS MORGAN has said his parents are getting better, slowly but surely after catching coronavirus and his stepfather finally has his taste back. The 55­year­old controversial TV presenter disclosed his relief and hu­ mour on Good Morning Britain by saying his stepdad could finally taste the salt in his food and his wine, of course. Piers Morgan’s parents are both in their late 70s and caught the virus from someone in their ‘sup­ port bubble’ no matter how careful they were as well. The whole ordeal was extremely scary as they are older and still is as they are recovering, but slowly. Piers’ biological father died in a road acci­ dent. His name was Eamonn Vincent O’Meara and he devastatingly passed when Piers was 11 months old. When his mother and stepfather married, Piers took the surname of his stepfather. Along with Piers’ parents, Kate Garraway’s husband has been fighting the horrible virus since March. He has been in a coma for a long time; however, she recently told the viewers of Good Morning Britain that he has said his first word (pain) since waking from the coma.

Murdoch probe HALF a million Australians have signed a petition demanding an inquiry into Rupert Murdoch’s media empire. Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd launched the petition, which closed after three weeks with more than 500,000 signatures. Among several points of concern, the call for a probe puts the

spotlight on Murdoch’s News Corp’s (NWS) ‘control’ of Australia’s print media, claiming it is a potential threat to free speech. The petition to parliament calls for a Royal Commission Australia’s highest form of public inquiry and accuses media businesses of encouraging ‘deliberately polarising and politically manipulated news.’

Furlough extension THE UK’s furlough scheme has been ex­ tended until the end of March, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced. “To give people across the UK certainty over the winter, I can an­ nounce that the fur­ lough scheme will not be extended for one month ­ it will be extended until the end of March,” he said. Employees will re­ ceive 80 per cent of their usual salary for hours not worked, up to £2,500 a month. The Chancellor also announced increased “support for millions more workers through the Self­Employment In­ come Support Scheme.” The third grant covering November to January will now be calculated at 80 per cent of average trading profits, up to a maximum of £7,500.

Valencia Solidarity THE 70 students who train at the VCF Football School in Samos, Greece, are learning the values of solidarity and the importance of helping and collaborating in times of difficulty, as the Valencia school helps earthquake victims. A week ago an earthquake of 6.7 degrees on the Richter scale with its epicentre in the Aegean Sea hit both Turkey and Greece. One of the places that suffered the most was the island of Samos where two young people lost

their lives and several hundred people lost their homes. The Valencia Academy has made its facilities available to the authorities. On the artificial grass, tents have been set up to accommodate families who cannot return home. The situation in Greece is also more problematic because of the limitations caused by Covid-19. For now, the academy has postponed training however, Valencia expects sports activity to return in the middle of December.

Uria Heep star dies Alicante-based Uriah Heep star Ken Hensley has died. Uriah Heep keyboardist Ken Hensley, 75, passed away at his home in Agos, Alicante on Wednesday, November 4 after a short illness. Details of his passing have not been released, but his death was said to have been sudden. The music star, who moved to Spain in the 2000s, was best known for hits released by the band in the 60s to 80s, such as Easy Livin’, The Wizard, Sweet Lorraine and Lady in Black. Hensley’s brother Trevor confirmed the news on Facebook, writing: “I am writing this with a heavy heart to let you know that my brother Ken Hensley passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening. His wife Monica was at his side and comforted Ken in his last few minutes with us.” In a career that spanned decades, Hensley appeared on 13 albums with Uriah Heep and was working on a solo album in Spain when he died.

A HUGE red sunfish weighing 35 kilos and 1.45 metres in length was discovered washed up at the Regional Park of Cal­ blanque in Murcia at the week­ end. The species, called ‘lampris guttatus’ or more commonly Opah, is the first warm­blood­ ed species capable of keeping all its organs at a stable tem­ perature and is normally found in tropical waters. The cause of the creature’s

death is still unknown. The tyre­sized Opah, also known as the moonfish or sun­ fish, is a deep water predatory fish with relatively small red fins adorning its large, round body, which can grow up to 1.8 metres long. These fins, which flap rapidly as the fish swims, turn out to be important in generating body heat for the Opah, often found swimming with tuna schools.

The Court of First In­ stance and Instruction number 1 of Igualada, recognised the right of a father to ‘recover’ the days of weekly custody of his two daughters he missed during confine­ ment. The court heard he ‘could not enjoy this time with his children’ after his former partner ­ with whom he has joint cus­ tody ­ decided to leave the family home during the mandatory confinement period, from March to June, and a week in Sep­ tember due to a possible contagion. ACTIVISTS: Petitioned the Prime Minister at the weekend. THE Spanish government has been asked to extend benefits for es­ sential services to vulnerable people affected by the pandemic. Human rights activists petitioned Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday, November 7 to extend the moratorium on cuts to es­ sential services for low­income or vulnerable families indefinitely. Groups such as the Alliance against Energy Poverty and the Plat­ form of People Affected by Mortgages reached out to the govern­ ment in an attempt to suspend the interruption of basic services such as water, electricity and gas due to overdue bills, as it did dur­ ing the first wave of the Covid­19 pandemic. More than 3,000 organisations and social movements demanded in a manifesto that the government ensures that vulnerable families who are still suffering through the financial implications of the pan­ demic, and cannot afford to pay their bills, are not shut off from ba­ sic services. The activists warned that it is the most vulnerable in society who are suffering ­ ‘migrants, women, young people and pensioners’ ­ and that they are ‘at the mercy of companies that might start a wave of cuts of supplies.’ The group went on to remind the Prime Minister that, as recently as October, families who had not caught up on their bills were re­ ceiving warning letters from suppliers threatening to discontinue their services.

The popular messaging service introduced the fea­ ture on Thursday, November 5, although it will still be possible for recipients to save the messages. According to a spokesper­ son, when the new feature is

Missing minors THE number of children and teenagers who have run away from home or are registered as missing in Spain has risen 21 per cent compared to the same period last year. There are currently 2,839 missing minor cases being handled by social and police authorities. According to the ANAR Foundation for children and teenagers, the coronavirus has ‘exacerbated the disappearance of minors.’ It said around 70 per cent of children and young people have admitted suffering fear, anguish, loneliness and a lot of uncertainty during the months of confinement and afterwards. The foundation wants to influence prevention and raise awareness, while offering support through its aid lines, 116 000.

Speed limits THE Spanish government has announced reforms to Traffic Regulations to reduce speed limits on urban roads and increase penalties for driving offences. Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska confirmed on Tuesday, November 10, the modifications will come into force on January 2, 2021. The new regulations which affect speed will do so six months later to allow for their correct disclosure to the public. Speed will be limited to 30 km/h on urban roads with a single lane in each direction. They will be reduced to 20 km/h on roads where there is no clear difference between the road and the pavement. The current limit of 50 km/h will be maintained where there are two or more lanes in each direction. On conventional roads, the speed limit established for overtaking may not be exceeded by

Female first EMILY HARRINGTON has made history and become the first woman to free-climb El Capitan in a day. She joins just three other climbers who have managed to scale the 3,000ft granite wall in Yosemite national park in California in less than 24 hours. The 34-year-old reached the top in an incredible 21 hours, 13 minutes and 51 seconds on Wednesday, November 4. Talking to the San Francisco Chronicle about her achievement in a male-dominated sport, Harrington said she spent years feeling like she didn’t belong and hadn’t earned her place to be a Yosemite climber. “But throughout this experience, I learned that there is no belonging or not belonging, no formula to achievement up there. I was creative and experimental and I found my own way,” she added.

M A D R I D has updated its restriction measures to advise that homes should have no visitors after midnight. The regional government in Madrid has backtracked after previously advising that meetings of up to six

people were allowed in a home, as long as no one left before the end of the curfew at 6am. Now, on Friday, November 6, the government has advised that only those cohabiting should be in the house after midnight.

G overnment officials have also reiterated the importance of ventilation, recommending that establishments increase their terrace areas, stating that “the more exterior, the better.” T hey have also urged establishments to install CO2 meters, advising that they have not ruled out making this mandatory. According to data provided by the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Covid P lan, A ntonio Z apatero, M adrid has seen a downward curve in the rate of infections since the measures were introduced. H e advised that the restrictions would remain in place in the coming weeks, since they appear to be helping to bend the contagion curve.

Colombian caught Serious A COLOMBIAN drugs cartel trafficker has been arrested by police after a raid on a luxury villa in Marbella. In a joint operation with Dutch police, the National Police have arrested a drug trafficker said to be from the Cali cartel (Colombia). The man, initials MAH, of Dutch nationality and Colombian origin, had taken refuge on the Costa del Sol after fleeing from police in the Netherlands. He had lived in a Marbella luxury house since the summer of 2018 until an operation culminated with his arrest. He is credited with laundering more than €6 million through cryptocurrencies. The money came “from cocaine trafficking,” as explained by the police force. MAH had recently turned from drug trafficking to money laundering. To do this, he had specialised in cryptocurrencies and had created a company to market them. In his Marbella home, several electronic devices were discovered along with a collection of credit cards connected to accounts with cryptocurrencies. The Dutch authorities estimate that the drug dealer could have laundered more than €6 million in his new job.

Swingers’ party at train station NATIONAL POLICE shut down a swingers’ party being held in commercial premises at the Delicias AVE train station in Zaragoza. The location was equipped with a bar, tables, sofas and rooms separated by curtains and had been set up by an association for liberal sexual relations. Officers went to the station following a call from the security guards when music was heard in the middle of the night. They found several people inside who were charged with non-compliance with anti-coronavirus measures, as the party exceeded the permitted number of people on private premises, and was being held after the 11pm curfew.

NEIGHBOURS denounced a party of 30 people without masks on the Costa del Sol. Residents of a property in Benalmádena, Malaga alerted police at around 6pm on Saturday, November 7 to a party in the building of at least 30 people, all apparently foreigners, where nobody was wearing a mark or observing social distancing regulations. This is, of course, completely prohibited under the current State of Alarm. One of the residents told police: “My parents live below and the noise is unbearable.” Another neighbour said while there are problems in every community, the ones who lose out are the ones who “end up in tubes,” implying that the blatant flouting of rules could lead to a spread of coronavirus. Police sources confirmed they attended the scene after several complaints and issued warnings to everyone involved. Officials will now fine each participant for a serious infraction under the State of Alarm.

Dangerous driver A WOMAN, 25, was arrested by Local Police in Malaga on the Costa del Sol for driving more than one kilometre on the metro tracks while three times over the legal alcohol limit.

The officers found a car on the tracks with three blown out tyres after it got stuck at the entrance to a tunnel on Saturday, November 7. Malaga Metro security guards had requested the

presence of the police who had to call a tow truck to re­ move the vehicle from the tracks. It was taken to the munici­ pal vehicle depot, while the owner, who was very obvious­ ly drunk, was charged with a crime against road safety while driving under the influ­ ence of alcohol. If you feel they are in error you can vote not to accept them or even go to court to impugn them. The same goes for the min­ utes of the meeting of the previous AGM. These min­ utes constitute a legal document and if they are not accurate, problems can arise. These minutes ­ the ‘Li­ bro de Actas’ ­ are officially registered in a special section of the Property Registry. And now at the 2020 AGM you will vote on the 2021 budget of ex­ penditures.

SPAIN is preparing legislation that would see a 5 per cent tax on stream­ ing giants like Netflix with the funds used to boost Spanish cinematic pro­ duction, the government has claimed. The law, which would tax online entertainment platforms on the basis of earnings generated in Spain, seeks to bring existing legislation “in line with the reality of the market where

Investment by Iberdrola

THE energy company Iber­ drola has announced what it calls the “largest investment programme in the history of a Spanish company,” saying that it intends to invest €75 billion from now until 2025 in support of a green eco­ nomic recovery. The bulk of the new in­ vestment is expected to fo­ cus on renewables projects as well as upgrading net­ works hoping to almost dou­ ble its electricity production over the next five years. It hasn’t said where the funds will be coming from al­ though the company expects to increase its net profit to €5 billion in 2025, from €3.4 billion last year as a result of this growth. Ninety per cent of this new investment ­ €68 billion ­ will be organic and will be aimed at consolidating its business model, based on more renewable energy, more networks, more stor­ age and more intelligent so­ lutions for its customers. Ceuta and Melilla A REPORT by Morocco’s Eco­ nomic, Social and Environmen­ tal Council has concluded that closing the land borders with the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla will not end smug­ gling due to the lack of invest­ ment in the surrounding area. “The closure of the Ceuta and Melilla crossings by Moroc­ co, and the ban of commercial operations in the port of Melil­ la since July 2018 are effective measures in the short term,” said the report. “However, the closure does not focus on ad­ dressing the deep causes that allowed the spread of smug­ gling.” Morocco does not recognise Spain’s right to occupy the two enclaves and wants them re­ turned.

Czech GDP overtakes Spain THE latest International Mone­ tary Fund (IMF) survey shows that the Czech Republic is now ahead of Spain for Gross Do­ mestic Product (GDP) per capi­ ta following the onset of the Covid­19 pandemic. According to the IMF, gross domestic product per capita in the Czech Republic for 2020 equates to 38,120 internation­ al dollars (the IMF converts salaries into international dol­ lars as at 2017 to compare GDP per capita between countries). The calculation for Spain shows its GDP per capita is at 36,086 international dollars and Czech government spokesman Lukáš Kovanda, believes that Spain is unlikely to recover its previous advan­ tage.

HOVIS BREAD: One of Britain’s favourite adverts. H O V I S w h i c h i s s y n o n y­ mous with brown bread and has been a name in British households for 134 years has now been sold by joint owners Gores Group and Premier Foods (who own the Mr Kipling brand). It had originally been wooed by an Italian food company Newlat but when private equity firm Endless started a bidding war, the I t a l i a n s p u l l e d o u t a l­ though their offer was ex­ pected to be in the region of £100 million (€110 mil­ lion) so Endless were the winners for an undisclosed sum. Hovis is a favoured con­ sumer bread brand and is supported by its key cus­ tomers and suppliers. It has seen strong growth in its branded market share

and the business is well placed to capture a further share of the UK’s £4 billion (€4.4 billion) overall bak­ ery category. With headquarters in High Wycombe, the busi­ ness employs around 2,700 people and operates eight bakery sites, its own flour mill and a distribution net­ work spanning the UK and Northern Ireland. Explaining the reason for making this purchase, End­ less have said that under the current management team, Hovis has seen a sig­ nificant upturn in trading in the last four years and will continue to drive its strategy focused on deliv­ ering great quality prod­ ucts, customer value and service. Many local stores support local charities, support and sponsor local sports teams and in many cases the small independent stores are actually much more than just a small high street shop, they’re a family’s legacy, often passed down through numerous gen­ erations and support not just the current owner, but the generation before. For those stores which are new, that ex­ tra couple of euros spent there are sup­ porting someone’s dream and ambition, and also the courage it took them to step out alone, which is no easy task. It takes quite a large chunk of money to set up an independent store and compete with the multi­national and chains. So be sure to pre­order your turkey from a local butcher and get your spuds from a local greengrocer, let us revive that com­ munity spirit and get to know our neigh­

bours again. You could also consider purchasing gift vouchers from local businesses to help them over the coming weeks, thinking out­ side the box can often lead to some fantas­ tic ideas. Why not buy a meal for two, an hour’s tattoo time at a local studio, a hair cut at a local salon or an online study course for someone looking to change their career path. As people are struggling with finances thinking about what friends and family may actually need is important too. Whilst it’s nice to give a glamourous gift perhaps pre­ paying a family member’s phone bill for the month would actually be a better gift. Help­ ing people alleviate stress and worry, give the gift of peace of mind through these dif­ ficult times. Choosing to spend your money locally will really make a difference in the recovery of the local economy. When we buy local, our money stays local, and it strengthens the local economy in two ways. First, buy­

ing local keeps money circulating within the local economy. Studies have shown that lo­ cal businesses recirculate a greater share of every euro as they create locally owned supply chains and invest in their employ­ ees. Data shows that local retailers return 52 per cent of their revenue back into the lo­ cal economy, compared to just 14 per cent for national chain retailers. Money circulating through the local economy benefits everyone who is a part of each transaction. For example, let’s look at a local farmer growing produce. First, they sell to a local restaurant, which in turn prepares the fresh produce and sells it to local customers. The farmer pays its local employees and the restaurant uses revenue from sales to buy supplies from a neighbourhood hardware store. This example illustrates how the recirculation of money in the local economy leads to a stronger financial foundation for our neigh­ bours and communities.

We simply have no choice LEAPY LEE SAYS IT OTHERS THINK IT WHAT I do find quite remarkable, is how quickly references appertaining to major terrorist attacks disappear from the main media. (Unlike George Floyd style incidents that get rammed down our throats for months). The horrific Viennese massacre is a case in point. Within a few days, the whole appalling incident seems to have been quietly relegated to the domain of under carpet sweepers and ‘see no evils.’ What also happened to Khairi Saadallah, suspected of killing the three gay men in a Reading park? Or the toe­ rag who killed the police officer in Croydon? Just how long do the authorities think they can ‘gaslight’ the public into believing these are all unrelated events committed by perpetrators with ‘mental problems’? We simply cannot afford to continue ignoring the fact that we are under a concerted and continuing attack from a sole fanatical enemy. The laxness of the

authorities in the Viennese massacre is almost beyond belief. No doubt they are also hampered by the same ‘politically correct’ dangerous nonsense that affects us all ­ but they really should have been on to this one. This perp had served 22 months for trying to reach Syria and join IS jihadists. He worshipped in a mosque that intelligence services suspected of promoting extremism and a few hours before the attack, appeared on an Instagram post swearing allegiance to IS while holding an assault rifle, a handgun and a machete across his chest. He really couldn’t have been more obvious about his intentions had he announced it on national news! The West need to completely forget about ‘offending’ anyone, shut the PC brigade down completely and take up a serious offensive against these murderous insurgents. The first thing that needs to be done is to stop any more of them coming in. A multi­ national security border force should be set up, physically preventing every able bodied male from the Middle East entering the West ­ full stop! For eight years I lived among these people and I can state quite

categorically that most of them simply cannot be trusted. They interpret kindness as a sign of weakness and, despite what they say, a large number of them hate and envy the West and its ‘infidel’ inhabitants. Deportations must become a priority. As a deterrent, whole families of convicted or suspected terrorists need to be removed. Camps must be set up to house and vet immigrants that do manage to breach security, and separate prisons built for Islamist extremists. ‘No go’ areas operating under ‘sharia law’ must be freed up and made safe for all indigenous citizens and, if necessary, enforced by military armed personnel. The provocative burka must also be banned. If these tough measures lead to confrontation, so be it. At least we will know who our enemies are! It is of course a tragedy that innocent and genuine refugees have to suffer for the sins of others, but, if we are to survive this war, I am more than convinced that we simply have no other choice. Are you at a loss? MARBELLA MOMENTS BY NICOLE KING SIMON LAWRENCE sings at my choir and one day he told me he had a vi­ sion for my hair. As he’s a hairdresser with 20 years’ experience at Vidal Sas­ soon apart from everything else, I agreed to a new look, particularly as he does home visits. So far the response from everyone has been amazing; so thank you Simon for following through! My hair has been a focal point for as long as I can remember. As a child people would stop my mother in the street to comment on it, but I was not impressed with the attention or the curls; back then there was no hair con­ ditioner so brushing the tangled mess was agonising! Thankfully with the latest hair prod­ ucts it’s now totally manageable and I’m grateful for having lots of it; as a dear friend pointed out from her per­ sonal experience years back “better

too much than too little.” I’m happy to learn that solutions have changed when it comes to thinning hair also. Again thanks to Simon I’ve learnt a lot about how wigs and hairpieces can be tailor­made nowadays to address al­ most every issue. In fact this is Simon’s speciality; so much so he even gives on­ line training courses to share his exper­ tise with other professionals. He explains that Alopecia Totalis and Alopecia Universalis both mean a com­ plete loss of hair, requiring a full wig. Several types of base caps have been developed such as Swiss lace with a Polyurethane (PU) perimeter. This al­ lows the wig to breath and the PU gives strength and robustness. If the wearer wants to have it attached for weeks at a time, so one can sleep, shower and enjoy a normal daily rou­ tine, he uses a special hypoallergenic adhesive. If you wear your hair back­ wards then he uses an ultra fine HD lace for the frontline so it is unde­ tectable. For those with fine, thinning hair or even patches of Alopecia Areata he recommends a ‘volumiser,’ which is

craftily fitted and made from fine mono lace. Other bespoke options include the choice of hair texture, European, Indi­ an, Chinese and the exact colour, with highlights and low lights etc. All these preferences aren’t readily available in a shop which is why Simon is so sought after locally and internationally. Surprisingly there are many reasons why women lose their hair, but for men it’s often due to male pattern baldness. They produce a chemical called DHT, which strangulates the hair follicle and the growth stage stops. He adds that Minoxidil can be used to counteract this, but on its own will do very little. It has become stylish for men losing their hair to simply shave their heads but with the options Simon offered they might prefer a groomed hairstyle that can also be fixed so it only needs a simple re­groom every four weeks. So just why did Trump lose? MIKE SENKER IN MY OPINION Views of a Grumpy Old Man YES, YES, YES He lost. Good over evil pre­ vailed. The biggest turnout in American history got it right as far as I’m concerned and 74+ million voters agree. Trump also got 70 million, but strangely all his were legitimate but Biden’s weren’t. As usual, Trump is crying like a baby about this be­ ing rigged and that being phoney. Every­ one of importance in the World now recognises Joe Biden as President Elect but still, as of today, Trump has not ac­ cepted defeat. So why did he lose? Well, in my opinion, and this is my col­ umn so that’s what you are going to get, people were fed up with his insulting speeches and name calling of anyone that disagreed with him. He surrounded himself with yes men, many of whom broke nu­ merous laws and got nicked only to be par­ doned by the Boss at a later date. Lots have said they expected him to be a bad loser. I personally think he is a bad los­ er because he was a bad winner. Nothing he does has any class whatsoever. He is a liar. News stations were cutting away from his speech the other night when he was

rambling on, stating they could not justify him the air time when he was just blatant­ ly lying. Twitter was putting notices on his tweets saying they were not factual. Did he do some good stuff? I don’t know, maybe? Republicans of standing are saying he should accept defeat. His own family are saying it. I saw Rudy Giuliani outside the Four Seasons, the garden centre in be­ tween a funeral home and a sex shop, not the world famous hotel which had already put out a statement saying he was not go­ ing to be at their premises. He’s saying it was all going to be decided in court and they were going to sue everybody in sight. If you want to see what Giuliani is all about look at his ‘performance’ in the new Borat movie. Eventually Trump will make a concession speech and my guess is that it will not be done with dignity like every other outgoing POTUS before him. It’s over. It’s done. Hopefully Joe Biden will be a great Presi­ dent and will bring the country back to­ gether. I’m sure he won’t spew the hate that Trump did causing the biggest divide the USA has ever witnessed. Sad Song Crash

A GRIEVING woman has been fined for causing a head­on crash after hearing a sad song on the radio that reminded her of her sister. The crash, along the A947 at King Edward towards Banff, was so se­ vere that firefighters had to free the 58­year­old driver of the van from the wreckage before being taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Wilson had faced a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous dri­ ving over the incident, however yesterday, the plea of guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving was accepted by the Crown, and she was fined £800 and given six penalty points.

THE Norwegian government announced on Monday, November 9, that it will not be providing any more additional financial support for pandemic-hit Norwegian Air. The decision leaves the cash-strapped carrier in a precarious situation after being hit hard by the coronavirus crisis and having to ground most of its fleet. Norwegian Air said in August that it would run out of cash in the first quarter of 2021 unless it could secure fresh funds and has held talks with the government in the hope of winning support. Industry Minister Iselin Nyboe told a news conference: “It is a tough message to get. But we are answerable for the responsible use of public funds. “Norwegian Air has a financial structure that makes it risky for us to go in with support. It was not defensible.” Norwegian Air Chief Executive Jacob Schram said: “That the government has decided to reject the request for funds is disappointing and feels like a punch in the gut for everyone at Norwegian.”

SAFE BUT CLEAN Dear Editor I’M not one to grumble but feel I have no choice but to have a rant about the ‘new wave’ of littering. It appears empty cans and crisp wrappers have been replaced by masks supposed to be worn on the face, not strewn on the floor. While I totally accept we are in the middle of a health crisis and the well-being of the nation is paramount, I don’t see how that should be at the expense of the environment. I’m fortunate enough to live by the sea on the Costa del Sol and love walking along the beach. But this morning I came across four discarded masks in a short stroll. IN the wake of former Vice President Joe Biden’s tight victory in the presidential race, it will be tempting to look at the razor thin margins across the map and declare the nation a house divided. But there are other more cheering conclusions to be drawn. American democracy is alive and well. Votes were counted (and will be recounted), courts will field litigants, state officials will do their jobs. The process was far from smooth, and beyond frustrating to watch, but that is a democratic system in action. Better still, and despite strenuous efforts to pigeonhole Americans into their hyphenated identity groups, people of all races walked into their voting booths with diverse ideas about the best man to lead the nation... and voted for Republicans in unprecedented numbers. They did not vote by tribe, they voted for and against policies that mattered in their lives. Are there still divisions among us? Of course, there always will be. But more than 65 per cent of eligible Americans believed in the power of their vote, and our democracy. In 2020, decency was on the ballot, and more Americans voted to defend it than have voted for any candidate in history. In a year when hundreds of thousands of Americans have perished to a global pandemic, and millions more fear for their livelihoods, they have elected a President whose empathy and capacity to sit with suffering rank among his chief hallmarks. On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as president and vice president, the two embodying a series of ‘firsts’ in their new roles. Finally, how heartening it is to be reminded that journalistic, tech and business elites do not call elections, and that money notwithstanding the hundreds of millions wasted in trying to do so cannot buy a seat in Congress.

I’m back at the start but am different! MS BIPOLAR UP AND DOWN WITH BALANCE UNEDITED I’M sat in the coffee shop with my Mum and Dad waiting to go in - I’m back at the Mental Health Hospital - damn Covid has meant they can’t come in with me and I have to go in alone. I feel excited as I have waited so long for an appointment, nervous because I know what is coming next, the leg is going up and down like mad and by this point and I can feel my eyes filling up. Breathe - I get up from the table and walk towards the building. Heart is racing, hands are trembling, the entrance has changed - it’s not where it has always been, it’s around the back. Why change it? I can’t get in - I’m going to be late, I can’t be late. I am once again sat on those cold green metal chairs, the tiles on the wall are cold. I wish I wasn’t sat there alone, I haven’t had to be here for a long time. I see a friendly face, the nurse that looked after me when I was so poorly in hospital - Breathe.

Plucking up courage to approach my psychiatrist to admit defeat, I need help, I have tried ,but I am now tired of trying. Sat in the Doctor’s office, she has known me right from the start, nine years now. I can feel my heart slowing down, I feel safe, I’m glad to see her. She smiles but I can see the worry on her face. She knows that if I am back with her, I am not in a good place. She listens to me - congratulates me on how far I’ve come, how much I have matured from that scared little girl. I am now a woman who knows herself, and admits when I need help. She doesn’t just shove me on medication and sends me on my way - no - she listens, she explains what we need to do next in order to help me get through this. I have done this before , I will do it again Better days are coming, I don’t know when but they will. Help the Food Fairies for a bright Xmas THANKS to the latest restric­ tions announced by the Junta de Andalucia there is a slight change to the Food Fairies Hol­ lywood themed lunch at the Beach House Restaurant in Elviria on Saturday November 28. He also has a heart murmur which now needs urgent treatment. ‘All this means that we have no option but to close until Steven has fully recov­ ered. At this time, we don’t know when that will be but we will aim to reopen when Steven can walk again. ‘As you know Steven loves creating and cooking his spe­ cial food and will miss it during this time as well as miss seeing you all. Thank you everyone for your support and we all look forward to seeing you as and when possible again.’ Although this edition of the paper (1845) contains a brand new recipe from Steven, the following week we will repeat one that garnered a lot of in­ terest from last year. This week celebrity Master Chef Steven Saunders from the famous award-winning Little Geranium restaurant in La Cala, makes an authentic and classic bean stew for winter.

Steven Saunders FMCGB The Little Geranium La Cala de Mijas www.thelittlegeranium.com WHEN I was at Brocket Hall near St Albans in the UK, our restaurant manager once asked me if I knew how to cook a Fabada. “A what?” I said. He said that his family had some northern Spanish connec­ tions and that Fabada was a typical dish and a stunning one made with a certain type of dried bean, black pudding and a special chorizo. “Hmmm” I said, “I will get the ingredients if you come into my kitchen and cook it!” Surprisingly, he agreed and so there was this incredibly smart suited and booted restaurant manager (called Adam) working at my greasy stove giving instructions like …”no parsley, no salt, no tomatoes,” he was very spe­ cific. Then he popped a lid on it and said, “I will come back in a couple of hours.” About two hours later he came back and skimmed from the top of the saucepan

Authentic Fabada all of the fat that had risen to the top coming from the black pudding and the chori­ zo, he put a ladle in and said, “there you go!” Is that it? I thought. At Brocket Hall I was trying to cook high end food to Michelin standards and couldn’t see how some beans with sausages could be incor­ porated onto my menu, that is until I tasted it! OMG, the flavours were di­ vine because the juices from the Asturian morcilla (black pudding) ham and chorizo leak out into the stock and get spiked by the presence of the sweet, not spicy pimenton. The beans cook in the stock to a soft sponge like legume absorbing all the flavours and there really is no need for salt or parsley or anything, it is simply perfect as it is. Our clients raved about it (Adam took all the credit of course!) and whilst I did make a minor tweak, I did not waiver from the tradi­ tional recipe. The only thing that I did change was instead

of cooking it in water, I re­ placed the water with chick­ en stock (or you can use veg­ etable stock) giving it deeper and better flavours. So here in southern Spain I have been dying to try it out on clients and for the last week or so I have been mak­ ing it as the Amuse de Chef (a small taste of it before the other dishes) with my team explaining that this is a little piece of Spanish tradition and culture. My opinion is that it is a million light years away from some of the poor Spanish paella we get here on this coastline, which is often dry and has inferior frozen fish baked into it. The ingredients in the Fabada are what makes the dish. It is not rocket science, buy great ingredients and guess what? You get a great result! Buy frozen fish, shove it to­ gether with some rice flavoured with yellow food colouring and throw in some frozen peas and you get

something that survived in the 70s but that should not exist (in that form) in 2020, but it does. Pictures of paella and oth­ er Spanish favourites are still plastered all over many of the menus. Tip: If you want great authentic food, avoid restaurants that have pic­ tures of the food! As winter starts to emerge here on the coast, we can feel a little nip in the air. As it has now got colder, can you imag­ ine coming home to a Fabada slowly cooking in a pressure cooker or on a slow (safe) stove? Filling the home with aromas that will create mem­ ories, this dish is what great Spanish food is all about. So, get down to a good su­ permarket like a Carrefour where they sell all the excel­ lent Asturian specialties and get a Fabada on the go this winter. It is simple to cook and you will never ever fail to get the compliments, it really is something very different and very special. I sometimes think about Adam and can see that he looks happily settled on Face­ book and every time I make a Fabada I hear his deep voice saying, no parsley!

Authentic and fantastic Fabada! Ingredients (serves four) 4 Asturian Chorizo 4 Asturian Black pudding (Morcilla) 250g of Lacon ham (see note below) 1 white onion peeled but left whole 2 cloves garlic peeled but left whole 1 litre of chicken stock or veg stock 1 generous tablespoon of pimento dulce (sweet red paprika pepper) 500g of dried white beans (fabes) pre­soaked in cold water for minimum 12 hours or overnight. 1 large pinch of saffron threads Salt, optional. taste first! Note Weights of the above main ingredients can vary but don’t be too concerned. The main ingredi­ ents are your chorizo, morcilla from Asturias

and the Lacon Spanish ham which is a speciality cut from the pork shoulder, cured and dried. If you can’t get hold of this you can find a small piece of pancetta on the bone fairly easily in most supermarkets. Method Drain the water away from the beans and place them in a large saucepan. Warm the chicken stock. Put the chorizo, morcilla, the onion and garlic and the ham on top of the beans and pour over the warm stock. Now stir in the pimento. Bring to the boil then skim off some of the fat from the top using a ladle and reduce the heat to simmer and simmer for one hour.

After an hour dig into the stew using a spoon and check that the beans are soft. If they are not then leave back on the simmer for another 30 minutes. If they are, then remove the stew from the heat and allow to rest and cool. When required, simply ladle out some of the beans (enough for four) and some of the juices into a smaller saucepan and then remove and slice the morcilla, the chorizo and take a few lit­ tle slices off the ham and reheat it all in the small pan. Serve in little bowls with lots of bread (to mop up the juices) and keep topping yourselves up from the stew pot. Or you can just serve the stew pot in the centre of the table family style and everyone just helps themselves. Enjoy!

HARRY STYLES has been forced into 14­day lockdown during filming of his new movie Don’t Worry, Darling. New Line, the studio behind the Olivia­Wilde directed film, has suspended production af­ ter a crew member tested posi­ tive, forcing Styles and others into quarantine. The flick also stars Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, KiKi Layne, Gemma Chan and Nick Kroll with Wilde playing a support­ ing role. According to Deadline, the studio has been following

strict protocols, and the posi­ tive test came up during rou­ tine testing. The person who tested posi­ tive is not believed to be a member of the principal cast but ‘someone who was in close enough proximity to them.’ The publication was told that everyone on set has begun isolating for the required 14 days and no one else on pro­ duction ‘has tested positive at this point.’ Filming will be paused for 14 days in line with safety guide­ lines.

MALAGA A CLOSE THE GAP AS THE JUNTA CLOSE THE ACCESSES

THE BAHA Whiskey mini League got hotter at the weekend when Malaga A defeated Athletico Benahavis 3­2 to remain unbeaten and close the gap on League leaders Aston Viñuela. The local team didn’t have it easy though. After their high pressing game saw them take a 2­0 lead through newcomer Shaun Duffy and Ian Salt the ‘Bees’ subsutituted Smith for Adam Chandler. This proved to be an inspired move as the ‘Bees’ got themselves back into the game and from 2­0 down they got it back to 2­2. However the Malaga team again stepped up the pressure and Marcelo sealed the win to take Malaga A to within three points of the League leaders with three games in hand. In Saturday’s other League game Malaga C and Sporting Benahavis played out a 0­0 draw. The League games were followed by
