ANDALUCIA has always been a refuge, an idyllic place for European tourists. However, the pandemic has put a temporary stop to that causing a drop to barely 25 per cent of international travellers. What do the UK, Germany, France or Portugal think of the current situation in Malaga? Readers may be pleased to know that, according to reports, the coast has not lost an iota of interest and tourists will return as soon as the situation goes back to normal. “Malaga is a destination much loved by the British and proof of this is that 45,000 live in the province and millions visit it every year,” says Charmaine Arbouin, UK consul in Andalucia, who emphasises that “at this time public health must prevail above all else and currently the British Foreign Office advises against all non-essential travel to Spain.” However, the British representative affirms that “I am sure that the British tourist market in Malaga will recover as soon as we return to normal because the citizens of the United Kingdom love this province.” Looking to the future, regardless of the relationship that there may be with Brexit, the British representative points out that “we must bet on responsible and safe tourism, we must be aware that travel is going to be different, tourism is going to be different. and international travel will also have to adapt to this new normal.” Arnulf Braun, a representative of Germany, goes along the same lines. “UnTHE town hall has painted the pavement of one of the main commercial streets of Velez-Malaga in bright colours while the pedestrianisation plan of the entire area is being carried out. Camino de Málaga is immersed in an ambitious urban transformation project of the historic centre and is part of a project to pedestrianise the area along with other adjoining streets. ONCE again Caleta de Vélez has been hit by maritime misfortune. On Wednesday, October 7, residents woke to the sad news of the sinking of one of the boats that have their mooring in the port after a fire broke out. Two people were rescued from the burning fishing boat in front of Maro beach. Fortunately,
Sinking feeling there were no fatalities only the loss of the boat, named ‘Heart of the Sea.’ Emergency services received a distress call at 10.18pm with regards to a fire on a fishing boat in front of the Cerro Gordo area.
The eight crew members took refuge in a dinghy while waiting for help. All were rescued by another fishing vessel called ‘Nuevo Alonso Cazorla,’ without any personal injuries, and taken safely to the port.
THE Diputación de Málaga is promoting the project ‘Pregnancy after breast cancer, is it possible?’ An initiative of the Gesfera association that will be developed in the municipalities of Archidona, Mollina, Villanueva de la Concepción, Humilladero and Fuente de Piedra. The objective is to advise and offer emotional support on the possibilities of fertility preservation and assisted reproduction techniques to Malaga women of childbearing age who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. WINDY: Boat had run aground. THE effects of the storm ‘Alex’ have been taking its toll in Malaga Province. The strong west wind prevailing on the coasts could be behind the problems that a large sailboat had on Friday afternoon, October 2, when it was sailing off the coast of Vélez-Málaga. Two people had to be rescued from the large sailboat which had been grounded on a beach in Benajarafe. Several people called Emergency Services at around 2.30pm to indicate that there was a boat stuck on the beach with two people on board. Immediately, Guardia Civil, Local Police, and the Maritime Rescue were alerted of the situation. The Guardia Civil confirmed that they have collaborated in the aid of the two people who were on the sailboat, who have been rescued and are in good health.

Smart cards MEMBERS of the Red Cross have carried out the recharging of 40 reloadable ‘wallet’ cards handed out in Nerja. Residents previously received a rechargeable lifeline in the shape of the ‘wallet’ cards which were handed out as part of an initiative by the Andalucian government. They allow families who are in a situation of need to meet basic requirements for food, hygiene and cleaning products. The cards are recharged monthly with an amount proportional to the number of people that make up the family, €150 for one person, €200 for two or three and €250 for four or more.
Cherry pop ALFARNATE has launched a campaign with a container where residents can deposit plastic bottle caps to go towards donations to families to be used to acquire health materials. These containers may also be a tourist attraction, as they have been shaped like a cherry, so people may take photos next to them.

Retired doctors offer help MORE than 2,000 retired doctors have offered to return to work to help out in the face of the health crisis in Spain. The country is experiencing a shortage of health personnel and
last week it was revealed the national health service needs some 88,000 doctors, nurses and orderlies to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. And, according to Antena 3, the situation has
been made all the more critical as many health professionals are forced to look for work abroad ‘in search of decent contracts.’ In light of the shortage several autonomous communities across Spain are experiencing, 2,000 doctors have offered their ‘valuable experience.’ Dr Carlos Gálvez, spokesman for Retired Doctors of Sevilla, said “we, retired doctors, have done everything, we have experience that I think is valuable.”

Discount Computers
SPANISH utility company, Endesa, has begun delivering 5,000 computers and internet connection cards to ‘vulnerable’ students across 60 towns and districts. The initiative aims to ‘protect against the digital divide’ caused by the covid pandemic. In addition, both students and teachers will receive training in digital skills. The distribution of computers and internet connections will begin in Ceuta and extend to Melilla, Andalucia, the
Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Castilla y Leon, Aragon, Galicia and Extremadura in the coming weeks. In total, 5,000 students from around 500 public schools will benefit, while approximately 800 teachers will receive
training. This is the second phase of Endesa’s Public Responsibility Plan. The first phase in March saw the company invest €12 million in medical supplies to support the entities fighting the Covid pandemic at that time.

TOUR operator TUI has restarted flights from Germany to the Canary Islands with plans for selective Covid-19 testing of travellers. The German travel company has initially scheduled seven weekly flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, according to the Canary Island government. Speaking on Thursday October 1 following a videoconference meeting with TUI group CEO Sebastian Ebel, regional President Angel Victor Torres described the decision to set up safe travel corridors to the Canaries at this time as “very good news.” Tourism minister Yaiza Castilla explained that the Canary administration has reached an agreement with TUI on voluntary selective Covid-19 testing for tourists taking winter holidays with the firm in accordance with the levels of infection in their destinations of origin.

TUI Returns Hotel Testing FLIGHTS RESUME: From Germany to the Canary Islands.
Trapped inside A BOY, three, spent hours locked in a school bus without anyone noticing he was missing. The child reportedly fell asleep and didn’t get off at a bus stop in Oleiros, in A Coruña. Neither the bus escort nor the driver noticed that the young boy was still on board. It was only when the school bus was parked up at a nearby town hall four hours later that the child was discovered by another driver, who took the boy to Lui Seoane Primary School where he is a pupil. The Territorial Chief of Education is investigating what happened, while the school claims the child ‘did not enter school grounds so it was considered that the family did not send him.’ According to Spanish press reports, residents have expressed their ‘indignation and disbelief’ about the incident, with one quoted as saying “we all have failures, but here there are no excuses, he is a child.”
HOTEL CHAIN: Will test guests on arrival. SPAIN’S Room Mate hotel chain is testing a new scheme that will see guests tested for Covid19 on arrival. The chain of boutique hotels will be the first hotel chain to offer testing as part of the guest experience. Hotel guests will be either tested on arrival to the hotel or can opt to take an antigen test at one of 100 health clinics across Spain that are run by Quirón, who are partners with Room
Mate in this scheme. An app will then be used to track any symptoms that the guest may experience during their stay with long stay guests and all hotel staff being tested routinely every three days. The antigen test that is being used by the chain will see results given in just 15 minutes which is exceptionally short in comparison to the 48 hours that it takes to receive results from the UK government’s PCR tests. The testing programme
for the chain will initially be launched in four hotels across Spain and then, if successful, will be rolled out to all hotels within the chain’s group. The initial four pilot hotels are located in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Granada. The hotel chain’s Chief Executive, Kike Sarasola, said, “Right now, our priority is health. My employees will have the comfort of knowing they are working in a safe environment, as will our clients.”

GENEVA is on track to introduce the world’s highest minimum wage after twothirds of the population backed the plan at a recent referendum. The new minimum wage will see workers earn a staggering £41,430 per year, which works out at a monthly salary of £3,500. Geneva has a voting age population of around 500,000 people and with two-thirds of them voting in favour of the rise, the Swiss city will now commence the new minimum wage. Hotelier Busted A HOTEL manager hosted a 200-person s t ro n g f u n e r a l p a r t y and has been fined a staggering £10,000 as a result of breaching the UK’s coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Furthermore, his hotel, Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel in Solihull, West Midlands, has been restricted from hosting any further public gatherings or holiday events until January 2021. Police became aware of the issue after receiving nine separate complains from local residents. The complaints were mainly about loud music coming from the hotel and their arrival resulted in the guests being dispersed by 9pm. Sent Back THE British government is speeding up its asylum seeker processing to clear up a backlog of deportations back to Spain. The British government loses its right at the end of this year to expel immigrants to the member country through which they enter the European Union after Brexit. The British government has launched a strategy of deportation on charter flights, aimed at those who crossed the English Channel, to countries such as France, Germany or Spain, known as ‘Operation Sillath.’ It is doing so months before leaving the European Union when the country will be left out of this legal framework.
Mane the Saint A BRAND-NEW documentary about the life of Sadio Mane tells many tales of the Liverpool striker’s life. The documentary covers Mane’s life and includes a variety of interviews with colleagues and friends. However, the standout moment of the programme is his own recollection of his father’s passing. Now more than 20 years later, Mane is poised to open a hospital in his home village which will accompany the school he built last year. Both projects have been fully self-funded by Mano and his charity is a direct result of his reaction to his father’s death. Mane ran away from home at the age of 15 when his father wouldn’t allow him to leave education to pursue his dream of becoming
a professional footballer. Upon leaving the small village he grew up in, he travelled to Senegal where he enrolled in the Generation Foot Academy and started his path to his footballing dreams. Throughout the documentary his
infectious personality shines and he demonstrates that he has remained humble despite his success.

Foul mouthed A ZOO had to remove ‘Swearing Parrots’ after complaints from the public! Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in the UK was forced to move the ‘rude’ birds to an ‘offshore’ enclosure and out of earshot of patrons. A group of African Grey parrots at the zoo were removed after repeating obscene language at visitors. Just like the cheap battery-powered toys that kids have for presents, the ‘feathered foul-mouthed flock of Parakeets’ were so rude that they even had the keepers red-faced! Some patrons thought it was hilarious, but many others didn’t, especially some parents who couldn’t believe their ears after holding their kids to ‘look at the pretty birds,’ only to receive a barrage of four-letter words from the badly-behaved birds!

Human Guinea Pigs RESEARCHERS are to start infecting trial subjects with Covid-19 to test a vaccine and there are over 2,000 volunteers that have signed up for the experiment. Many British people are volunteering to become part of the abolishment of the disease through a vaccine. The volunteers will be vaccinated with the potential preventative and will be later introduced to the Covid-19 disease to see if the vaccine is successful. The human trials will be scheduled to start in January 2021 and the volunteers will be experimented on in Whitechapel, east London in a very secure address.
A FATHER and son walked from Sicily to London so the son could give his nan a hug. The duo walked over 1,700 miles through Europe to get to Hackney. Phil, 46 and son, Romeo Cox, 11, took over 90 days to arrive and once there they are having to quarantine for two weeks prior to being reunited with his nan. BRAVE: Young woman survives nightmare to tell her story. THE incredible story of a young woman from Elche, who was rescued from a perverted Peruvian sect leader, has been made into a stunning new book. The book titled ‘Hágase tu voluntad’ (Thy will be done) is the story of a young woman who was lured by the leader of a ‘religious sect’ to Peru, abandoning her family and entering into a life of horror in the process. The book is written by Vanesa Lozano who tells the extraordinary story of Patricia Aguilar which aims to raise awareness to young people about the dangers of the internet. Patricia Aguilar was only 16 when she fell for the teachings of ‘guru’ Félix
Steven Manrique, who called himself ‘The Prince.’ Manrique managed to convince Aguilar and other women that they needed to take care of him. The book tells the story of how Aguilar met Manrique online and how he persuaded her to leave home when she was 18 and abandon her family. Patricia was forced to live with the 35-year-old man and two other women. The young Elche woman was with the man, the women and five other children for a year and a half before being rescued. She intends for her story, via Lozano’s book, to give visibility to issues such as ‘religious sects’ on the internet that lure people in via chatrooms and social media.
Healthcare demands FIFTY-FIVE scientific groups have come together to demand that the management of the pandemic in Spain be detached from political confrontation. Doctors, nurses, and specialists from all over Spain are fed up and angry with what they feel are political parties using the crisis as a weapon against each other in order to gain public votes. The recent spats between the Federal government - Pedro Sanchez - and the regional president of the government of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, being cited as an example. A total of 170,000 Spanish Health Professionals have joined together in a manifesto to demand that decisions against coronavirus be based on ‘the greatest possible scientific evidence detached from the ongoing political confrontation.’ This is directly aimed at the statements the governments of Pedro Sánchez and Isabel Díaz Ayuso have issued in recent days due to the health crisis in the Community of Madrid.

H&M culls stores WITH 5,000 stores in many countries worldwide, Swedish fashion retailer H&M has become the second largest brand of its type in the world, but it like so many other stores, has seen high street sales suffer due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It has therefore announced that it will be closing at least 250 shops during 2021 as it expects online shopping to continue to grow and although sales are beginning to recover, they are still 5 per cent down when comparing last month and September 2019.

Record employment results SEPTEMBER was a record month in Spain for the number of new jobs created which when coupled with a further fall in unemployment is per haps surprising although there are still large numbers of people on fur lough or working shorter hours. Overall, however it has to be posi tive news that the State Public Em ployment Service reported the num ber of unemployed fell by slightly more than 26,000 (0.7 per cent) and the number of new jobs created broke 84,000. In ‘normal years,’ September is considered a bad month for Spanish
workers as the main tourism season comes to an end and many people on short term contracts who are as sociated with the hospitality indus try find themselves unemployed. That was then and this is now! The lockdown and pandemic have com pletely changed the rules and many of those in hospitality found that their season ended much earlier and they entered the public system in previous months. Now to record 84,000 new jobs suggests that other areas of the economy are beginning to recover and either creating new work or

bringing employees back to their old jobs from which they had been placed on furlough. According to Expansion this drop in the number of unemployed in September has never been so large since records began in 1996 and since 2008, unemployment in Sep tember has gone up rather than down. This is part of an ongoing drop in unemployment over the past three months, but it must be remembered that there are still more than 3,750,00 on the unemployed list, many of them young people.

This is because you are no longer a citizen of the European Union. This TIE is in fact a European Union card. It is based on Article 50 TEU in accordance with Article 18.4 of the UK withdrawal agreement. You should make this exchange before December 31. You will need Form EX23, which you can download from the internet and Form 790 code 12 on which you pay the small fee and one identification card size photo. If you do not get the TIE, at some point next year you will be considered a nonresident of Spain.

JUST a year since regulators refused to approve a merg er between Asda and Sains bury’s, American owners Walmart have announced that they have sold the su permarket chain for £6.8 billion (€7.5 billion) to a British consortium. On the face of things, the purchase of Asda by Wal mart 21 years ago wasn’t a great investment as they are making just £100 mil lion (€110 million) profit from the sale but they are keeping some shares and will have a single seat on the board. Triumphant purchasers are petrol billionaires Mohsin and Zuber Issa who own the Lancashire based EG Group working with
London private equity firm TDR Capital who between them look to see the super market return to growth and have promised to keep prices low whilst investing more than £1 billion (€1.1 billion) over the next three years. Initially at least, there are unlikely to be many major changes as headquarters will remain in Leeds and current CEO Roger Burnley has received a vote of confi dence and will be main tained in his role. According to YouGov pollsters, Asda is now the seventh most popular su permarket in the United Kingdom and has a long way to go to beat leaders Aldi, M&S Food and Lidl.
Ties with Iran THE Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described Tehran Madrid relations as developing and expressed hope that both sides boost economic relations despite US sanctions as he wel comed new Spanish Ambas sador to Tehran Luis Felipe Fer nández de la Peña. The new Spanish Ambas sador noted that Iran and Spain are striving to strengthen bilat eral relations especially eco nomic ties in line with the large capacities of the two countries. Coinciding with the presen tation of the Ambassador’s cre dentials it was announced that the first flight in 17 years from Tehran to Madrid took off with Iran Air to run a weekly direct flight as the two nations dis cuss methods of cooperation in both trade and possibly tourism.
Odds on takeover BRITISH betting firm, William Hill, fronted on TV by such stars as Ray Winstone is likely to be taken over by Caesars Entertainment, the US compa ny which owns Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for £2.9 billion (€3.2 billion) subject to share holder agreement. What attracts the American company is that William Hill USA (in which Caesars holds a 20 per cent stake) has 170 bet ting shops scattered across the USA. The board of William Hill, which is unlikely to open more 100 betting shops in the UK, sees this as an opportunity to gain value for shareholders in what may be a stagnant mar ket.

Public debt is rising
FINANCE MINISTER MONTERO: Called for a “fiscally responsible” approach. ACCORDING to figures released by the Bank of Spain, the public debt soared to €1.29 trillion in the second quarter of 2020 which is its highest level for 20 years, due to its efforts to cope with the results of the pandemic. Although this is a huge amount, it compares favourably with the United Kingdom debt which reached £2 trillion (€2.2 trillion) at the end of June and like Spain still continues to increase on a monthly basis. Normal rules no longer apply and whilst the European Union set targets for all member states requiring that public debt should be no higher than 60 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP),
this is simply unrealistic at the present time. The reality is that whilst it stood at 99 per cent in the first quarter, it rose to 110 per cent as Spain was in lockdown for much of the second quarter and was trying to assist those in financial need whilst reeling from the loss of important tourist and export business. Taking a pragmatic approach, the government has decided (like Britain and some other countries) to suspend the budget and try to cope with matters as they occur whilst maintaining what Finance Minister, María Jesús Montero called a “fiscally responsible” ap proach when announcing this at a press conference. One piece of good news is that analysts forecast that GDP which had fallen dramatically in the first
Cycling into profit HOUSEHOLD name Halfords says sales of bike products show no sign of stopping as demand for car products and services also rise. The Redditch-headquartered company has reported group like-for-like growth in the five weeks to September 25, 2020 was up 22 per cent. The UK retailer said demand for bikes and cycling products had continued following the end of the peak cycling and summer staycation season. As a result, it expects half-year profits to top €61.6m, compared with the €39.2m to €44.8m that it had predicted last month.

Not to mention a reasonably mild climate throughout the rest of the year.
FOOD & DRINK Eating out is a major part of the lifestyle here in Spain. We have amazing restaurants to suit every budget where you can get anything from a cheap and easy Menu Del Dia to a full gourmet meal. The rich Spanish culture assures that you can get authentic delicious meals which are influenced by time honoured traditions such as Paella, Tortilla, Pisto and Turron. The Menu del Dia offers cheap and affordable two or three-course meals, usually coming in at under 10€. You’d be lucky to get a McDonald’s in the UK for that price. If you are looking for something more upmarket there are also a tremendous selection of high-quality restaurants where you get delicious gourmet food for a great price compared to the offerings that your £’s can get back in the UK.

AL FRESCO LIVING Let’s face it, who wants to deal with the cold, dark clouds and rain. The Meteorological Office (MET) in the UK estimates that it rains at least 156 days per year. Spain on the other hand has a climate that sees on average a paltry 55 days of rain. Much of that occurs in intense periods and other than that it’s sun, sun, SUN! This temperate climate means that living in Spain affords you the excellent opportunities for year-round outdoor dining on the terrace while soaking up the rays and/or enjoying a day at the beach. Sunlight itself triggers areas in the retina that promote serotonin release, thereby actually making you happier. And let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be happier?! Not only can you enjoy the thrills of outdoor dining, but outdoor exercise is also another area that is actively pursued in Spain. Whether it’s rollerblading on the paseo, Yoga on the beach, or cross training in the park, the overwhelming volume of bright and beautiful days means that you don’t have to be restricted to working out indoors. Not only does the exercise produce endorphins that make you feel happier, but the additional and continued onslaught of natural Vitamin D plays a vital role in heart health, boosting exercise capacity, and possibly reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Yet another benefit of a life lived in sunny climes is that beautiful plants and flowers are always blooming wherever you go. In Spain there is a concerted effort to make sure that the outdoor public spaces are beautiful all year round.
Let’s face it, with wages plummeting, job losses rife and the cost of living soaring out of the reach of many lowincome earners, the UK is becoming a tougher and tougher place to live. Spain, on the other hand, has an exceptionally low cost of living compared to the UK. It is distinctly cheaper to buy alcohol, restaurant food, many groceries, petrol and a range of other daily items in Spain than it is in the UK, furthermore, rental prices are distinctly cheaper as well.
LIFESTYLE VARIETY Expats who emigrate to Spain often start their lives in the sun-drenched coastal areas. But Spain is a much larger and more varied place, from the wonderful landscapes and the mountainous regions to large sprawling urban city life. The sheer diversity of Spain means that whether it is alpine regions, evergreen forests, volcanic islands or the sun-drenched coasts, there is truly something for everyone … while the weather still remains warm and enjoyable.

As with most countries, Spain has excellent global transport routes that make it an easy place to travel to and from. However, their public transport systems are also exceptionally well maintained and run efficiently. Many UK residents are used to the familiar feeling of train cancellations due to weather, strikes and a variety of other non-events that see public transport grind to a halt. However, in Spain, commuters can enjoy a range of public transport options that are well-maintained and timely in their arrival. Employees in Spain typically receive approximately 41 days of annual leave per years whereas in the UK you only receive a measly 28. With those extra days off you are able to fully experience the rich and vibrant culture of Spain that is evident around every corner you turn. Furthermore, the UK regularly ranks as one of the worst places to live in Europe. Multiple studies over the last decade have placed the UK at the bottom of the list and the Expat Insider Report, 2019, revealed the same results. With Spain on your doorstep and the option to integrate yourself into this vibrant culture still readily available until December 31, 2020, it is a wonder that, despite the current global situation, that Brits aren’t flocking here. Although the draconian measures were tough on everyone, the clarity and immediate action by the authorities meant that the population felt safe and knew what was expected of them. Since the lockdown was lifted, Brits who have travelled despite quarantine restrictions in the UK have applauded the Spanish response with numerous tourists taking to social media to express how much safer they feel in Spain during this crisis than they do in the UK. Furthermore, if you get your skates on and move prior to the end of this year (December 31) you will still be fully covered under the UK’s Withdrawal Agreement with the EU, which means you can ensure you retain permanent residency in Spain. So, the question really is less about why you should move to Spain but instead why aren’t you moving to Spain? With a glorious friendly culture in a warm and comfortable climate, where you can enjoy sandy beaches, a cocktail in hand or walk your dog while enjoying the range of nature on your doorstep … why are you not already here?

LEAPY LEE SAYS IT OTHERS THINK IT JUST recently a 16-year-old young hoodlum became inv olv e d i n a c a r c h a s e wi th a number of police vehicles. Attempting to swerve around a police road block his car struck a young officer who was dragged along before being thrown off and sustaining multiple injuries, including a fractured leg. The car was finally brought to a halt and the driver arrested. The charges were, stealing a car, failing to stop; possession of cannabis; failing to provide a blood sample; causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without a licence or insurance. The officer was off work for five weeks and also suffered a psychological impact that required mental treatment and counselling. At his trial the judge’s ruling on this young toe rag was a piddling, noncustodial 12 month rehabilitation order, and a fine of £100! You really couldn’t make it up. What this basically means is that this waste of space was back with his mates that evening, his ‘street cred’ on a high, a

New generation of youngsters joint in his mouth and his eye on whatever other criminal endeavours he could turn his hand to. The message taken back to his fellow young cronies? As long as you’re under 18, you can get away with just about anything. Some of these judges are not fit to serve up slop in a prison kitchen, leave alone serve up justice on the bench. The way to prevent young thugs like this re-offending is to bang ‘em up in a serious boot camp. Control their every waking and sleeping moment with the strictest regulations and make them never want to be put back inside again. But it won’t happen will it? The ‘wokes’ and liberal lefties of our society have somehow managed to take control of our rules and regulations and appear to have completely dispensed with common sense. Under the guise of ‘sex education’ they have allowed live sexual acts to take place in our classrooms. Tried to normalise grown men in dresses sharing locker rooms with young girls and made parents afraid to chastise or discipline their own children for
fear they will be reported for some form of child abuse. Unless it agrees with their own warped doctrine, they have also managed to virtually destroy freedom of speech and influence our children into regarding any decision by the authorities as an infringement of their ‘uman rights. The result of all this dangerous nonsense, is new generations of youngsters with, no regard whatsoever for law and order, an utterly self-centered attitude of entitlement, and the belief that despite a history of utter failure, socialism is the answer to everything. To the left of course it all makes perfect sense; the more dependent the people are on the state the more they can be controlled. Their ultimate ambition is communism and the brainwashed young their prime targets. By the time our youngsters realise they have been duped it will all be too late. CRASH SPANISH police have launched a ‘murder-suicide’ probe after a British husband was killed in a head-on collision witrh a lorry. The body of his wife ‘who had died days earlier’ was found in the wreckage. Police suspect the 38-year-old man may have intended to end his own life after murdering his COLLISION: Now a murder probe. French wife, 41, in their mobile home, following a row. The fatal crash occurred on the A-381 motorway near the town of Los Barrios close to Gibraltar. The Brit, who has not been named, died instantly and was said to have been driving on the wrong side of the motorway before the smash. DAVID WORBOYS IF you live to 80, you will have survived the winter a mere 80 times. On 960 occasions, a new month will have been and gone, and church bells will have greeted 4,160 Sundays. And you will have awoken in the morning 29,120 times, which seems quite a lot. So, how much of this time has been well-spent? Especially when we are young, we waste quite a few days with hangovers. Aged 20, after a pub-crawl involving about half the pubs in Oxford, I remember only one thing about the following day. When I tried to get out of bed, the first - and last - thing I did was fall over. That was all I achieved and it wasn’t until the next day that I was able to call the office and ask for sick leave. On another occasion, after a Friday night blinder in the West End, I had to spend the whole of Saturday trying to find where I had parked my car. With the

help of two friends I found it on Sunday morning. There were a few other such misjudgements but these were by far the worst. Time is among our most precious commodities and, if it were managed successfully, we would all experience far greater opportunities, achievements and fulfilment. What about the 70 or so New Year resolutions? It took me seven successive years to give up smoking (which I finally achieved in 1972). Hardly any other resolution lasted more than about nine days. So many goals were never achieved. Since I sat in cinemas, mesmerised by Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale and Gina Lollobrigida, I always wanted to learn Italian but never got beyond ‘che bella ragazza!’ and ‘ho mangiato tutti i frutti di mare.’ I never learned the piano, never followed my parents’ advice nor read Steinbeck and Balzac. It would have been nice to live in
Paris around the age of 20 and later to have visited St Petersburg, Colombia, Chile and, prior to Mugabe, Zimbabwe. It’s too late now. An Aston Martin and a house near Freiburg in the Black Forest are dreams that will not happen in this lifetime, but these are no longer important. There is so much to be thankful for. I remember the long lazy days of childhood when, barring accidents, the future life seemed to extend into perpetuity. On leaving school and earning a living, it still seemed ages ahead to thoughts of retirement. But the older we become, the more rapidly time flies by. Every time I pick up my Sunday newspaper, it seems just a couple of days since I bought the last one. If, in my next incarnation, I am an Afghan herdsman, I shall not remember the lost opportunities in this lifetime and the circumstances will have changed. This would, therefore, seem to have been the last chance.

IRELAND is moving up to level 3 to avoid another lockdown - despite calls from the country’s health chiefs. Prime Minister Micheál Martin has announced that Ireland would move from level 2 of its restrictions to level 3, with new measures including a ban on all indoor restaurant dining. The move will last at least three weeks. It comes despite the country’s National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) calling for the country to move to level 5 and enter a second national lockdown. Mr Martin said: “Businesses are beginning to recover and vital public health services are still backlogged. “Severe restrictions now would have a very damaging impact which those services and businesses may not be able to recover from them. “We have decided, at this stage, not to move to a more comprehensive lockdown.” Ireland will stay at level 3 until October 27, meaning social and family gatherings and organised indoor gatherings will be banned, except for funerals and weddings. People are asked to stay within their county and work from home unless it is absolutely unavoidable, while schools and other education establishments should remain open. Ireland has recorded 1,810 deaths among 38,549 people who have caught Covid-19, according to Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking the pandemic.
Early Start FLU VACCINE: Has begun earlier this year due to Covid-19. SPAIN started rolling out its early flu vaccination campaign this week ‘amid second wave of Covid-19 infections.’ The most vulnerable and ‘at risk’ will be prioritised across the country. The campaign normally begins in November, but health bosses say an early start will be ‘key in an autumn-winter marked by the second wave of Covid-19 infections.’ Several autonomous communities, such as the Valencia Community, Castilla y León, Galicia and Navarra are among the first to begin to vaccinate their ‘most at risk.’ Minister of Health, Ana Barceló, stressed that ·”this year it is especially important that risk groups get vaccinated against the flu” due to Covid-19, and said the goal is to vaccinate 75 per cent of those over 65 years along with health personnel and 60 per cent of the rest of those at risk. In addition, a vaccination strategy will be carried out aimed at residents and staff at nursing homes and day centres, “so that they are vaccinated, preferably, during the first week of the campaign.”

A major research project has found that joyful events causing a sudden surge of adrenaline, can lead to heart failure. Known officially as Takotsubo syndrome, it was originally detected and known as ‘broken heart syndrome’ caused when extreme emotional stress causes the heart to shut down. But the authors of the new study, led by researchers in Switzerland, suggest that a small number of cases would be better known as ‘happy heart syndrome.’ per cent of Their study was based patients in the UK on 1,750 patients in nine die after suffering different countries. Make most of Siesta A QUICK recharge of 10 to 20 minutes is sufficient to improve brain capacity. What is the perfect siesta time? A TRIGGER is a psychological stimulus that prompts recall of a previous traumatic experience and the stimulus may be only indirectly reminiscent of an earlier traumatic incident. The way you talk to yourself dictates how you think and feel. You may have past experiences of rejection or may have overheard family members that spoke badly of themselves as you were growing up which felt normal and you followed the same path. Whatever your trigger is, it is important to understand and acknowledge it, in order to be able to move on. You need to understand that you are not your past, nor are you the emotion that you attach it to. Experiences offer us a lesson to learn and will always teach you HOW you want to live the rest of your life. You cannot

Here are four steps to understand and release your emotional triggers: 1. Learn your Triggers - The most important step is to understand when you are being triggered. Listen to your thoughts and feel the current feelings that you have. Ask the question, what past experience has made me feel this way? Label your trigger without judgement. Say this affirmation aloud ‘I am not my past, I choose to let this go.’ 2. Breath - Triggers will cause stress. This includes tightness of chest, anxiousness, feeling hot, sweaty and feeling tense. When you feel these, breathe! Inhale deeply through the nose, hold for two seconds and then slowly release the breath through the mouth. Once you have calmed your breathing, this will help calm the mind.
3. Do not give in to Avoidance Avoiding the situation will make it worse. Ignoring your triggers, does not cure the situation, it makes it worse. Each time you avoid, it will become a bigger issue next time. It is important that you deal with your triggers. If you don’t feel you can do this alone, seek help from a professional 4. Understand How You Want To Feel - Look at your end goal. Where do you want to be in six months? How do you want to think and feel? Write a letter as if you are you in sixmonths’ time. Imagine you have acknowledged and released your triggers. Imagine you have forgiven everything in your past. How does that feel? What does that look like? Tell your today self what you will think and feel after reaching this goal. Once you have written your letter, pin it somewhere and read it every single day.

Whenever I write about Trump it’s amazing that I get emails telling me how great he is and saying yeah we know all the bad things he is, but look at all the good he’s doing. I do look and, to be honest, I can’t agree with you. If you add up all the good against the bad, the bad wins every time. Let’s just take
the thing that truly stood out for me. This is the exact question and answer: ‘Are you willing, tonight, to condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say they need to stand down?’ The President shrugged his shoulder. ‘Sure, I’m willing to do that. But I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing, not the right wing.’ Trump continued to say words, but say nothing. ‘I’m willing to do anything. I want to see peace.’ Moderator Wallace pressed the question: ‘Well then, do it, sir.’ Former Vice President Joe Biden jumped in: ‘Say it. Do it. Say it’. For what seemed like the first time in the debate Trump paused. ‘What do you want to call them?’ Trump gestured at Wallace. ‘Give me a name, give me a name.’ ‘White supremacists,’ Wallace answered. ‘The Proud Boys’, Biden added, referring to the far-right group of self-described ‘Western chauvinists’ who often engage in armed violence at protests. ‘Proud Boys, stand back, and stand by,’ Trump said. The same night on the Proud Boys website was their new motto. Google Proud Boys to see what they stand for. For not condemning them or white supremacists alone Trump should not be POTUS.
