MOJACAR El Bandido Ciclistas member Paul Binns is celebrating his Pie to Paella charity bike ride challenge success. Paul set himself the goal of pedalling more than 1,400 miles from Skipton in Yorkshire, through France and then on to his holiday home in Mojacar, motivated by a sense of personal accomplishment and to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity. As Paul said, “because you never know when you might need them.” Supported by wife Sarah driving, and setting up at campsites along the way, Paul rode out of Skipton on September 6 after a last meal of pie and peas,

and arrived in Mojacar ahead of schedule on September 26. The fact Paul only took up road cycling a year ago makes his achievement even more impressive.
He had trained hard, mainly through lockdown, cycling the Yorkshire Dales in preparation for his route crossing the Pyrenees. En route to Mojacar he faced wind, rain
and cold mor ning starts, as well as hot, sunny days, long straight roads and windy mountain climbs. Daily updates were posted to his Pie to Paella Facebook page
so friends and family could follow his progress and encourage him. Even so, he admits there were a couple of days when he didn’t feel like riding and was mentally and physically exhausted. But when he arrived in Mojacar Paul was looking fresh after a night in a hotel in Aguilas. A couple of very welldeserved, very cold ciders went down a treat before the celebratory paella and a bottle of bubbly.

CUSTOMS have seized more than a million contraband face masks at Almeria port in an intervention in collaboration with the Guardia Civil. HIDDEN: The authorities found the masks mixed up with legal cargo.

Officers discovered the boxes of KN95 masks stashed at the bottom of four articulated semi-trailers about to go onto a ferry bound for Oran in Algeria. The boxes of masks were mixed up with legal cargo. The authorities also found 1,600 mobiles, phone accessories and items of clothing which were not reflected in the presented documentation. According to the Guardia Civil the total value of the seized goods added up to some €3.6 million. They are now investigating five individuals for a crime of contraband.

Business boost HUERCAL-OVERA Council is providing financial help to boost business competitiveness as part of a plan to bolster local trade. The administration’s funding for the modernisation of shops and hospitality sector businesses is one of a series of actions and activities aimed at helping existing businesses develop and move forward and at collaborating on getting new commercial establishments off the ground. The council explained that another goal of this round of assistance is to support municipal companies in the services, construction and consulting sectors which have been hit by the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis, and which have had to adopt new measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

Body appears A BODY appeared floating off the coast of San Juan de los Terreros on Thursday September 24, the Andalucia 112 emergencies service reported. A call to Pulpi Local Police just before 3pm alerted the authorities to the grisly sighting a mile or so from the shore, more or less level with the castle.
Tracked down EL EJIDO police tracked down a fugitive from Moroccan justice hunted by Interpol for bringing cannabis resin into Spain. Interpol issued the arrest warrant for the 45-year-old woman in December 2012 after Tangier Maritime police surprised her trying to leave the city with nearly 4.5 kilos of the drug stuck on to her body.

VERA Council has signed an agreement with a local bus company on subsidising the ‘Veramayor’ card providing free transport for the over-65s this year and next. The annual pass will allow bus travel within Vera municipality, up as far as the Marinas stop in front of Avenida Mar y Cielo in Vera Playa.
It will also cover bus rides to the HuercalOvera hospital, thereby making up the full amount of the ticket on the part not subsidised by the Junta de Andalucia ‘sesentaycinco’ card for people aged 65 and over who are registered as residents in Vera, and comply with a series of council requirements. THE PAWS-PATAS animal charity has extended its condolences to the family and close friends of Audrey Bullen of Amethyst Dog Rescue. Audrey sadly passed away last week after fighting a long, painful and terminal illness. “We would like to join others in stating what a truly marvellous, dedicated and hard-working woman she was with her continuous work of rescuing, saving and rehoming abandoned and starving dogs,” PAWS-PATAS said in a statement. “Audrey knew her time was limited, and recently she began to put her affairs into order and kindly donated to PAWS-PATAS clothes, raffle prizes, bedding, etc.

ONE person suffered minor injuries and two people needed hospital treatment for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a ground floor apartment in Roquetas de Mar on Sunday morning. The emergency services cordoned off the building and occupants put up by family and friends until the authorities evaluate possible structural damage to the building.
Man shot POLICE shot a man wielding a knife and threatening passers-by in Almeria City centre at midday on Friday. Police said officers repeatedly asked the 27-year-old to stop his aggressive attitude and put the knife on the ground, but he rushed towards them. Officers fired two warning shots, then aimed a third at his leg.

Caught on camera A SUSPECTED robber is under arrest after a car break-in video went viral on social media. Guardia Civil detained the Nijar local after the images clearly showing a thief smashing the window of a parked vehicle and making off with two cases of tools he grabbed from inside were shared online. The Guardia opened an investigation to determine exactly where the car break-in took place, using the video to help establish the identity of the suspect.
Playing host VERA is all set to play host to a national beach tennis tournament for the fourth year in a row. What will be the 18th edition of the Mapfre Spanish Beach Tennis Championship was scheduled to have taken place in the Almeria resort in April, but was postponed until midOctober due to the Covid19 pandemic. Organised by the Indalo Beach Tennis Club in collaboration with the FAT Andalucia Tennis Federation, the RFET Spanish Royal Federation of Tennis and Vera Council, the event is now due to run from October 16 to 18. Indalo Beach Tennis Club president Ariadna Fernandez explained that some of Spain’s beach tennis players will be taking part in the absolute women’s and men’s competition.
BOOST: The mayor believes the event will be a major boost in the promotion of Vera as a destination for tourism based on sport. The winners of the absolute, sub-18 and sub-14 categories will make up the Spanish team and will represent Spain in the next European and World championships. Vera mayor Jose Carmelo Blanco said the event will make Vera the “epicentre of national beach tennis,” and greatly boosts the promotion of the municipality as a destination for tourism based on sport.
Numbers sink ALMERIA port passenger numbers sunk this summer by nearly 98 per cent as result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year more than 580,000 people used the port to travel by ferry between the provincial capital and Morocco, Algeria and the Spanish enclave of Melilla between June 15 and September 15. This year the total was just a little over 12,500 after the health crisis forced the cancellation of the special ‘Crossing the Straits’ operation, when North African immigrants living in Europe return home for the holidays.
All set ADRA’S sports schools are all set for the new season. The council and the different clubs have been working on the necessary protocols to ensure protection for everyone who goes along in what Sports councillor Pedro Peña said is “an exceptional situation.” Peña highlighted the range of activities on offer to the public. “We understand that sport is an essential element in daily life,” the councillor commented. As it stands there are a choice of 15 disciplines. The local authority said it is possible the programme could be extended, depending on how the pandemic pans out.

Drastic drop ALMERIA registered a drastic drop in summer tourist numbers due to the pandemic. The province received just under 224,000 visitors in July and August compared with nearly 500,000 in the same months last year, National Institute of Statistics figures reveal. To put it another way, there were 55 per cent less tourists in this year’s peak holiday season. Of the tourists who were in Almeria this summer, approximately 205,000 were Spaniards. This was nearly half last year’s number, when the total was nearer 396,000. Only 18,000 foreigners had their summer holidays in the province this July and August, down from more than 102,000 in 2019.

Plant project THE Andalucia government has presented the Mojacar waste treatment plant project, which will also serve Bedar, Los Gallardos and Turre. Regional Agriculture and Sustainable Development minister Carmen Crespo Diaz chaired the presentation at Mojacar Town Hall. She explained more than €23 million will be invested from the ‘Andalucia en Marcha’ scheme, one of the largest investments in the area and the second most important in Almeria. Mojacar mayor Rosmari Cano described the day as a historic event following 13 years of lobbying for the project, which will be put out to tender in October. The new plant will be built at the same location as the existing one. Estimates are that the construction will take 18 months, followed by an additional six-month start-up period.

REMOTE working is set to account for 50 per cent of all Spanish employment in just a decade as the coronavirus forces employers to reconsider their organisational structure. Fifty per cent of all Spanish employment could be considered for remote working by the year 2030 a collection of economic experts have advised. They advise that this figure will not be made up of half of the working population working solely from
home, but rather from a much larger proportion working in a mix of home and office based working. This could see employees working a proportion of their week in a physical environment with their colleague and the remainder of their hours being conducted at home or from another remote location. The Council of Ministers has approved a new royal decree that will see remote work regulated for the first time in the country.

SAGRADA STALLED THE finishings for the Sagrada Familia, a temple in Barcelona has been postponed again due to Covid-19. The temple was designed by Antoni Gaudi and is one of Spain’s main touristic points. Sagrada Familia was supposed to be completed in 2026. EUGENIO DELGADO, the man in custody for the murder of Manuela Chavero, still refuses to tell investigators exactly what happened, since his arrest on September 18. Delgado, from Monesterio, maintains that on that night he asked Manuela Chavero to go to his house to return a baby’s crib and that, once there, there was an argument in the hallway of the house, she accidentally slipped, hit her head and died. The Guardia Civil still holds the accused in their cells despite the fact that he has already been sentenced without bail for the alleged crimes of illegal detention and homicide.

ERTE EXTENSION THE Spanish government has approved the extension of its furlough scheme, ERTE, until January 31. The Council of Ministers also extended the moratorium on rents and the suspension of evictions on Tuesday, September 29. The ‘income protection scheme’ was introduced in March after the State of Alarm was declared, and has so far cost the country €24 billiion. It was due to end on September 30, but will now run for a further four months ‘to protect the income of families.’ A battery of measures have been introduced to ‘generate a scenario of certainty’ for the next few months and in particular, the Christmas season which is one of the most important times of the year for the Spanish economy. The new scenario poses
different challenges that the government will cover with four different types of ERTE to adjust them to the needs of each territory and sector. The first relates to sectors whose activities have been hit hardest by the pandemic, while the second ERTE relates to impediment for towns/territories which have been closed by the authorities to contain coronavirus. Thirdly, there is a new ERTE which applies in areas where there are movement or activity restrictions for example opening hours. And finally, there is an ERTE which will protect companies that don’t have any restrictions and are not in any of the sectors protected by force majeure ERTE. The government has also created a new unemployment benefit for workers with fixed-discontinuous contracts.

CAROLE BASKIN recently cancelled an appearance on the ITV programme, Loose Women. One week later she sent a video in explaining that her current husband will be filling her shoes. As she has been so busy with Strictly Come Dancing USA she couldn’t manage the Loose Women interview. The very controversial woman, Carole Baskin, 59 suffered a lot of backlash when the programme aired as people had very mixed emotions about her. Carole Baskin is a big-cat activist, which some people disagreed with and her feud with Joe Exotic kept everyone amused and hooked on the TV series whilst in lockdown.
Lazy men A ‘MAN CAVE’ was found underneath Grand Central station in New York in the US. Three male railway workers are being incriminated because of a storage room they had turned into a ‘hang out’ area. It was complete with a television, microwave, sofa and a fridge. The men are thought to have used the ‘man cave’ in their work hours, to avoid doing their actual jobs, which were; a wireman, a carpenter and an electrician at the train station. The three men used to go down, get drunk and party in the room. However, railway bosses never even knew it was there.

Its owner, a 51-year-old construction worker, feared the experts might laugh at him when he showed them the tiny pot. COVID CANINE IF you are travelling into the Helsinki Airport you may receive more than just your passport check. A test project has begun at the airport in which one of two canines has been trained to detect the virus by sniffing the sweat of arriving passengers. This will hopefully see an end to sticks being shoved up your nose and instead replaced with a dog sniffing your neck sweat! Passengers are being asked to volunteer their neck sweat, wiping it and leaving the swab in a box. The process continues with the sniffer dogs sniffing boxes containing different scents including the neck sweat box. In a process that takes one minute, if a positive result is detected, the person is sent to the airport’s health centre for a free virus test. University of Helsinki researcher Anna HielmBjörkman told The Washington Post, “Preliminary research suggests the doggy sniff test might be more effective at detecting coronavirus infections than the standard polymerase chain reaction or antibody test.”

ANTI-VAX REPORTS have uncovered that a fifth of all UK residents would consider turning down a Covid vaccine when one is finally ready. Those questioned showed concerns about misinformation surrounding the vaccines that are currently in their trial stages. Out of 17,500 subjects questioned by University College London, only 49 per cent were ‘very likely’ to take their chances, 78 per cent were ‘likely’ to, 22 per cent were ‘unlikely’ and 10 per cent were opposed to being vaccinated. On September 6, the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca suspended worldwide trials of its Covid vaccine after registering a serious side effect in a volunteer in the UK. Trials have since restarted.

On Friday, September 25, Ayuso ruled out applying mobility restrictions in all districts of the capital and in municipalities with the highest rate of coronavirus infections, as recommended by the Ministry of Health, and extended the limitations to only eight new health zones, something Health Minister Salvador Illa disapproved of. Given this, Illa urged the capital to review its measures, “We have to take control of the pandemic in Madrid, in other communities it has been done.” Sources from Moncloa have reported that the government plans to take command in the Community of Madrid if it fails to reach an agreement with the Madrid Executive to control the worsening of the coronavirus pandemic. The government would take refuge in
Article 65, which establishes that the declaration of coordinated actions in public health will correspond to the Ministry of Health in situations of urgent need. These disagreements between the administrations have led the spokesman of the Grupo Covid-19, Emilio Bouza, to resign 48 hours after being appointed. In a letter addressed to the heads of Health of both governments, Salvador Illa and Enrique Ruiz Escudero, Bouza refers to the disagreement between the administrations, of different political signs, as the reason for his resignation. Bouza, an expert in infectious diseases, was appointed spokesperson for the team to try to control the coronavirus pandemic in that region. In the letter, Bouza assures he accepted the assignment because those responsible for Health “confirmed to me their will for political harmony and their drive to work together to find a solution to the problem.” However, “the circumstances I have witnessed in the following two days… force me to resign and decline the offer,” said Bouza. This is another example of the lack of governmental pluralism and communication where blame shifting seems to be of higher importance than the public’s wellbeing.

Print’s not dead THIS week sees the end of an era for a number of classic established British papers as they announce that their International Editions are moving solely online. During the coronavirus pandemic, sales of newspapers have seen a distinct drop with some news agencies clearly suffering under the strain. UK Job Support Scheme
Can they name debtors? I live in a community of nine apartments, three of which are in the hands of the bank. We recently changed administrators after 15 years. The new administrator tells me we cannot dis play information about our debtors. Our old adminis trators changed from a list with names to a list with only property numbers. The new administration has given me a list of debtors, but said I cannot display it, under Spanish data protection rules. Is this correct? M D (by email) Yes, it is correct. Spain’s privacy YOU AND THE LAW laws prohibit the IN SPAIN publication of per sonal information to the general public. Now the fun starts. The Horizontal Law establishes that the notifica tion of the AGM must include the list of those debtors who are prohibited from voting. If the members are no tified by letter in a sealed envelope this meets the re quirements. If the notification is by email, these should be individually sent and preferably with password ac cess. If there is a notice board, it should be in a closed box opened by key or code. The idea is to prevent ‘third parties’ from accessing the list.

WHEN the UK Furlough Scheme comes to an end on October 31, it will be replaced by the financially less attrac tive Job Support Scheme which will go some way to help those who are only able to work part time due to their employer’s economic situa tion. The attraction of the Fur lough Scheme was that it paid 80 per cent of the wages of workers who may otherwise have been laid off, up to a maximum of £2,500 (€2,750) per month. The new scheme which is set to last six months works for those employees who are brought back to work part time (where previously they were full time) with the em ployer paying for the hours
they work and the govern ment paying up to £697.92 (€767.71) per month. In theory, the government believes that those who are el igible (they have to work at least one third of their normal hours) will receive as much as 80 per cent of their monthly salary with this support. All businesses are able to apply to take part in the Job Support Scheme, even if they weren’t part of the Furlough Scheme and they will still ben efit from the £1,000 job reten tion bonus paid for each work er who returns to work from furlough. There is also an extension to support for the selfem ployed to ensure they at least receive a proportion of their average monthly income.

Euro EUR/GBP: Up from £0.90 to £0.91 EUR/USD: Down from $1.18 to $1.16 After witnessing some bullish momen tum through August, the euro was pro pelled to a twoyear high at the very start of September. However, we have subsequently seen the euro shed these gains in recent weeks as Europe struggles to contain a ‘very serious’ coronavirus resurgence. EUR investors are particularly con cerned about how the second wave of in fections has impacted the Eurozone’s nascent economic recovery, with recent PMI figures indicating the bloc is at risk of slipping back into a recession. Unless European coronavirus rates im prove dramatically in the coming weeks, it seems inevitable that the euro will ex tend this downside as the economic re covery will be further tested by the intro duction of more stringent restrictions. Pound GBP/EUR: Down from €1.10 to €1.09 GBP/USD: Down from $1.31 to $1.27 The pound suffered a dramatic selloff over the past month, with the currency plunging to a new multimonth low as the risks of a nodeal Brexit rose significantly. This comes after the UK government tabled a bill seeking to override part of the EU Withdrawal Agreement, a move which potentially breaks international law and the EU warns could jeopardise a postBrexit trade deal.
Applying additional pressure to GBP exchange rates has also been the intro duction of new coronavirus restrictions in the UK, which Boris Johnson warned will likely remain in place for up to six months. Going forward, trade in the pound is likely to become increasingly choppy as the threat of a nodeal Brexit and the po tential introduction of stricter measures to control the coronavirus resurgence will stoke concerns over the UK’s eco nomic prospects. US Dollar USD/GBP: Up from £0.76 to £0.78 USD/EUR: Up from €0.84 to €0.85 The US dollar weakened at the start of September as demand for higherrisk cur rencies increased in response to upbeat global growth forecasts and optimism surrounding a coronavirus vaccine. However, the US dollar has found itself back in vogue in recent weeks, with de mand for the safehaven currency rising in response to souring market sentiment. This has been tied to fears of a second wave of coronavirus infections and their impact on global growth, as well as Brexit uncertainty and renewed USChina ten sions. Looking ahead, the ‘Greenback’ will likely continue to benefit from safe haven flows in the weeks to come. However, the upcoming US election re mains a key risk point and could limit the upside potential of the US dollar. LEAPY LEE SAYS IT OTHERS THINK IT I CANNOT help feeling that if many of those stopped by the police would only comply a little more with their requests, we would not see many of these ‘street’ situations become so confrontational. With a growing number of these occurrences showing on social media, it’s easy to see police can sometimes be a mite overzealous, but more often than not, it is the citizens involved that cause these situations to escalate; often with tragic results that could easily have been avoided. One posted recently showed a perfectly respectable looking African American woman standing near her car. The police approached and politely asked if the car was hers? There was no colour issue involved here, merely an enquiry as to the owner. When she subsequently affirmed it was indeed hers they asked for her ID. Instead of complying, she belligerently retorted ‘why’? The policeman reasonably and clearly then informed her that the car had been reported stolen and reiterated his re-

Just asking the question! quest to see her ID. The women immediately exploded. Screaming obscenities and jumping around she smashed her fists on the car and rushed about creating such general mayhem that finally a threatening crowd began to gather. Ultimately she had to be physically restrained and put into the police car, where she continued to scream that she was being arrested ‘ because she was black’ and that she ‘couldn’t breathe’ (sound familiar?) All this unpleasantness could have been avoided if she had simply produced her ID when requested. It’s not exactly rocket science. The same scenario also occurred in the (often omitted) first section of the filming in the George Floyd affair. Floyd actually escalated that confrontation by refusing to comply with the officers for almost a half an hour before the final tragic outcome. If he had simply got in the car when first instructed he would still be alive today. I also believe these attitudes are part of the reason for this latest Croydon tragedy. Through their prior experience of similar situations, the police, in an attempt to avoid these
dangerous circumstances getting out of control, including possible attack from baying bystanders, want to get perpetrators into the vans as quickly as possible. For this reason, I believe the body search of this suspect was rushed and resulted in the gun being overlooked, leading ultimately to the tragic murder of Officer Matt Ratana. These attitudes and the lack of respect for our police have to change. Simple compliance with police requests would go a long way to avoiding these unacceptable and often disastrous outcomes. I am actually writing this on Monday, three days since the officer’s murder. The police have had this man on their terrorism watch books for some time. Apparently he was in line for some kind of de radicalisation process - Ha! My point is however, they must therefore know who he is and most certainly have pictures of him. CONSULAR MATTERS REGULAR readers will know that I have been around the proverbial block a few times as a lawyer over the last 30 years and as Consul for Denmark. During all this time I have seen a considerable number of complaints about companies or people who claim to be lawyers, but who are not legally qualified to be called that and give advice under the name of advisers, consultants or some other name. I want to take this opportunity to write about the difference between lawyers (Abogados) and any other advisers or consultants here in Spain It is right to say that the EU regulation of free services, allows anyone to provide services in this area without asking for a degree or qualifications, but some of these professions, such as lawyers or doctors, are ruled by the law and have ethical codes which force the professionals who are practising to be registered at an official association. A number of people have had

Difference between lawyers (Abogados) and any other advisers or consultants here in Spain some bad experiences with so-called lawyers here in Spain, which in some cases could have been avoided if they had instructed properly registered Spanish lawyers. When instructing a lawyer to act on your behalf you need a properly registered lawyer in the Spanish Bar Association (Colegio de abogados). Someone who is registered at the Spanish Bar Association and has to follow the code of ethics and has indemnity insurance, just in case they give advice which proves to be negligent. What you need to do when instructing a lawyer in Spain is to get the the Spanish Bar Association registration number in writing, that way you can check and be assured that you are being represented by a registered lawyer who is able to practise law in Spain. If you are given a fake number this is a criminal offence in Spain. Someone may have all the necessary certificates, but they may have been struck off by the Bar Asso-
ciation and it is necessary to check their number with the Bar Association. You may see lawyers here describing themselves as ‘Solicitors’ this is the closest translation of ‘Abogado’ here in Spain. A foreign European lawyer can be registered at a Bar Association in Spain but they can only give legal advice re the laws of their own home country. The British-American journalist forged a reputation as a trail blazer during his time as editor of the Sunday Times, most notably for his campaign for those who suffered birth defects as a result of the drug Thalidomide. SIR HAROLD EVANS: “Tried Those affected later to shed a little light.” received compensation from pharmaceutical companies on the back of his expose of the morning sickness drug. Speaking of his investigative work, Evans told The Independent in 2014, “All I tried to do - all I hoped to do - was to shed a little light. And if that light grew weeds, we’d have to try and pull them up.” In a 2002 poll, Evans was voted the greatest newspaper editor of all time.
MEMORIAL A FORMER classmate and friend of Anne Frank, Jacqueline van Maarssen, has laid the first brick at a monument in Amsterdam to the 102,000 victims of the Holocaust with each brick bearing the name of one of the victims. This concept was first promoted in 2006 and the 250metre labyrinth of corridors was designed by PolishAmerican architect and child of holocaust survivors Daniel Libeskind. It was only last year that the Dutch court confirmed consent for the project and work commenced in building the basic structure in June of this year. The first brick laid by Jacqueline van Maarssen carries the name of Dina Frankenhuis who was killed at the Sobibor concentration camp aged just 20 and the list of victims includes Jews and Gypsies from Sinti and Roma backgrounds.

WE AIM TO PLEASE Dear Euro Weekly News, In reference to the article about Britain Finally Launches its Covid-19 App - After Four Months Delay! Amazing! I live in North Yorkshire but the first news I get about this very important app is from EWN, an English news source based 1,200 away miles in Spain! My iPhone purchased in July came with the app pre-loaded but I have had to wait three months for some numpty in London to find the switch. Believe Dear Leapy, Unbelievable! I just read your feature in this week’s Euro Weekly. When I say unbelievable, I don’t mean what you say, but because apart from a minority of us on Twitter, you have said what we all know. The news, specifically Sky, but I am informed BBC and ITV, avoid any references to black people killing people in the UK. There is no condemnation of BLM violence or defacing property. There is no mention of the Asian grooming gangs raping and killing young white girls etc.

AT this point you would hope that we would be reading from a similar page when it comes to worries about catching the coronavirus and how we can be tested if need be. However, conflicting information seems to be circling still with regard to what to do if you should feel ill, symptoms and even the pressure on hospitals. Take Malaga Province, for example, EWN has had readers call in extremely ill and worried after calling the Covid hotline, but have been told they do not have enough symptoms to warrant a test. Some of these people have been elderly and with underlying health symptoms, but they have been told all they can do is quarantine as there is no space for them in certain hospitals or not enough tests available to go around. Others have been told they must not go to the emergency room if they suspect they have the virus. Does this point to misinformation or a push towards the hopes of creating a herd immunity? Herd immunity may sound like a positive direction but it would also seem to indicate ‘survival of the fittest’ pushing aside those who will not make it. Hospitalisations throughout April were at their highest and it was understandable that hospitals were unprepared and struggling. They dropped off again until recently but are still only a third of what they were during the early part of the virus. So, why would we be told there are no beds available? The Junta de Andalucia also publishes information on beds available which is conflicting with what the public is being told when contacting health centres. We read of different test centres in the UK and see pictures of people queuing round the block waiting to have a test. However, getting a test in Malaga seems an impossible task according to our readers. The health crisis has caused a constant need for updated information, a need for assurance and the knowledge that we will all be safe. So far the people who are supposed to be in charge of this cannot all agree and lives are being lost as they work it out.

I notice that the Chinese Communist Government who were warned by Dr Li of Covid-19 being contagious last November, did nothing to contain it, covered the truth up and acted far too late to stop its rapid worldwide spread. All we see is the media daily blaming Boris, Trump, Macron etc for the problems the virus has caused and never mention the CCG. Set Yourself Free From A Negative Mindset
LAST week, I spoke of the 60,000 thoughts we have in a day, how thoughts play a huge
part in our lives, and I also shared a technique on how to listen to the thoughts that
are constantly going around in your mind. Know you are aware of how to listen to your thoughts, I thought it would be a really good idea, to complete the whole mindset sequence for all of my readers. Acknowledging Your Thoughts Once you truly listen to your thoughts, it’s now the time to acknowledge them. It’s so easy to brush any for m of negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours under the carpet, however, there will be a time when the carpet can no longer cover them! Your initial reaction may be
DIONE LOCKYER to fight the thought, in the hope it will disappear. It may do for a short period of time, but something will always happen to trigger the thought at a later day. The best way to deal with any negative thoughts is to embrace its presence, and discover what it is trying to teach you. Helpful thoughts vs Unhelpful thoughts Our ego likes to play tricks on us. When you
think of a negative thought, your ego will create a scenario that you believe to be your reality. It feels as real as your physical being. You will then create a feeling and behaviour that matches the thought. For example, fear, anger, hurt or frustration. To enable you to understand if your thought is real, grab a pen and paper, and draw a line down the middle. On the left side, write HELPFUL THOUGHTS, and on the right, write UNHELPFUL THOUGHTS. An example of helpful thoughts are, I am
loved, I am a good parent, I am great at my job. An example of unhelpful thoughts are, I am fat, I am not good enough, I am a rubbish parent. Once you have written your lists, go back to your unhelpful thoughts, and next to each one, ask your self out loud, what physical evidence do I have to make these thoughts real. Once you establish there are no facts to this thought, choose to let it go. Next week, I will be continuing the set yourself free from a negative mindset sequence and will be writing about, understanding your triggers.
