FORWARD WITH HOPE
THE tenacity of the residents of Spain cannot be underestimated. It is now six months since the implementation of the Spanish State of Alarm that saw the country shut down with only essential workers and services continuing, whilst the population stayed at home to protect themselves and their loved ones. Whilst this may not feel like a positive situation, what has been born from it can be said to be exceptional community spirit and a demonstration of goodwill which many people were beginning to feel was lacking in their preCovid life. Quarantine may have been difficult for all of us, however, more people are appearing to have developed a renewed vigour for life with a change to healthy food, healthy exercise and healthy habits. A number of bars and restaurants have reopened with their regular clientele returning with renewed vitality and a determination to support, not just the businesses, but also the owners who are a cherished part of their daily life.
LOCAL SPIRIT: Is helping everyone move forward. Unlike the impositions on the UK’s bar and restaurant scene which has seen them have to close at 10pm, Spain’s hospitality sector is being supported as much as possible by the locals. Although opening hours are restricted, the ability to open until 1am gives hope for the future of these venues. Even agencies that deal in the sale and leasing of bars are still selling properties with a number of new buyers coming across to
realise their dream of living a life in Spain. Families and communities have pulled together to support each other and encourage those around them in a time where doom and gloom is an all
too easy trap to fall into. Thankfully having the sun in the sky also has a range of benefits that help to keep everyone positive and hopeful moving forward. Health and fitness have
also taken a leap forward in the eyes of the local community. With gyms reopening, despite distancing restrictions in place, they are seeing a revival of health-starved individuals not only wanting to lose lockdown pounds, but better their health for the future. There are morning runners on the roads again and swimming at community pools and in the sea is on the up. Local bar owners have been seen to band together to arrange fundraising events for struggling charities and businesses. There have also been a wide range of community
fundraisers undertaken by local residents to ensure that finances keep flowing to those that need it most. So, with Christmas around the corner we can only hope that this spirit of togetherness, positivity, hope and tenacity continues. Residents could buy vouchers for local businesses instead of massproduced wares to invigorate the local economy. Or even treat them to a spa or facial at a local salon. With all this goodwill and local spirit, it is hard to see how the country won’t come back stronger than ever before.

Flu jabs earlier this year LOCAL health centres will soon be contacting vulnerable residents with appointments for flu vaccinations. Ana Barcelo, who heads the regional government’s Health department, announced that the Generalitat hopes in this way to cover 75 per cent of over-64s and health professionals. Barcelo’s department also hopes to vaccinate 60 per cent of pregnant women and patients considered to be at risk owing to health conditions. Vaccinations will begin on October 8, the Health chief said.

THERE will be a magnificent display of Birds of Prey at the Valley of the Eagles Foundation on Mount Calamorro Benalmadena at 12.30pm and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays and this can be reached via the cable car. Previously admission has been free but due to the pandemic, the owners are now having to charge just €3 for admission as they have 150 birds that need to be cared for and fed. There are some restrictions due to the pandemic and naturally masks need to be worn and social distancing observed but the display is currently able to handle up to 100 people and there is plenty to see once the display is finished. EVERY Friday, Sarah and Simon Fearing, owners of the Rose and Thistle bar in Duquesa host a quiz with proceeds raised being donated to one of a number of deserving local charities. Last week saw them being filmed for a forthcoming TV programme and their latest quiz raised €540 for the Charitable Society of St George’s which helps those in need due to social exclusion in the area. Equally importantly, they finally reached their ambitious goal of rais-

Masking many MALAGA local government will distribute 532,000 masks this week to the town halls of the province. Including this new delivery, the third since April, the government of Spain has now distributed more than one and a half million masks in Malaga. Municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants in Malaga will receive 363,500 masks, while another 60,500 will be delivered to the Provincial Council for distribution. Cross Frontier worker dies GIBRALTAR has now recorded its first Covid-19 death, this in a female cross border worker in her 40s who was diagnosed with the virus in Spain where she was a resident and has subsequently died. The Gibraltar government has become aware of this death through persons who know the deceased and it has been confirmed through contact between the relevant medical authorities. The government would like to express its most sincere condolences to her family, friends and work colleagues and repeats the advice given to the public to take extra precautions if travelling to Spain. It also stresses that the average age of those infected with Covid-19 in Gibraltar continues to rise and follows the trend in many parts of Europe where the younger generation contracted the virus and then passed it on to their parents and grandparents. The number of active cases in Gibraltar now includes five persons who are over 70 and this was anticipated by the earlier statements from the government calling on those over 70 to avoid contact with younger family members and for those over 70 to stay at home insofar as possible.

Battling on ITV closure FRENCH athlete Patrick Bittan, who is resident in San Pedro Alcantara will be travelling to Valencia in October to take part in the Jiu-Jitsu European championships and then in November will be travelling further
afield as he flies to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to battle for the World Cup. The athlete has thanked the local council for their support and is proud to be representing his adopted home.
Train service AFTER it was announced that the European Union was assisting Spain in a major Recovery Plan, councils from La Cala de Mijas to Estepona contacted the Diputación de Malaga asking that it should support a claim to extend the current railway service that goes from Malaga City to Fuengirola. For years this has been the dream of all of the municipalities on the Coast and various attempts have been made in the past to try to force an extension, but money have always been the major problem although there will be technical difficulties especially with the need to find the land on which to build it. Despite this, the Provincial Government has confirmed that it supports the request and will present a formal proposal to Central Government.
LAST week, three workers at the San Pedro Alcantara ITV station tested positive for coronavirus, so on Friday September 19 the station was closed to allow for the entire station to be disinfected and all other workers tested. It then reopened the following Monday and the administration is in the process of making new appointments for those who were booked for testing, but were unable to have the work undertaken.

And that both the UK and Spanish governments are fully committed to implementing the citizens’ rights provisions in the Agreement.” The Ambassador reminds UK Nationals of the need to register as a resident as soon as possible, but acknowledges that there are difficulties with getting appointments in some places. UK Nationals will still be protected by the Agreement, as long as you can prove you were legally living in Spain before the end of 2020, so the Embassy’s advice is to make sure you have documentation (eg padron certificate, rental agreement, utility bills) to demonstrate you were living here

Alesha Dixon sparked controversy with a Black Lives Matter necklace after ITV rolled out full-page ads in solidarity with Diversity as Ofcom complaints reach 24,500. The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 41, appeared on the prerecorded semi-final in a bright yellow dress and a gold necklace with ‘B’, ‘L’ and ‘M’ pendants for the Saturday night show.

A Fry-By at KFC VEGAN activists have had KFC chicken legs hurled at them while protesting against the exploitation of animals outside a butcher’s in Stoke-on-Trent. The protesters where left unharmed after the KFC chicken drive-by hurling. Nine demonstrators with a 10-metre banner, reading ‘friends not food,’ were standing in front of Wayne Walker Quality Meats in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, when the car drove past firing chicken legs out of the window at the vegans. Friends of the attackers recorded the incident and police were called to the scene - however, the protest, in Davenport Road, was otherwise peaceful.

THE Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration is warning of one of the latest scams conning unsuspecting victims out of up to €300, this time through the Bizum app. An automated message claims to be calling from the government’s social security office offering support. As the automated conversation continues, creating alarm, the ‘caller’ begins to ask for personal data. Depending on the person, the conversation can change, opening a wider range to carry out the scam. The ‘false worker’ then promises a form of social aid is available - though nothing is further from the truth. A notification is then sent to the potential victim, and if accepted the scammer profits, known as ‘vishing.’
AUTOMATED MESSAGE: But it’s not all that it seems. “Remember: any management with Social Security or any other body of the Public Administration must always be done through official pages,” reminds the Ministry through its social platforms, pointing out the scam has already conned people out of up to €300. Scammers are taking full
advantage of the current crisis and period of uncertainty and confusion. Last week EWN reported a case of a factory employee who was placed on furlough in May. After four months of payment, she was made redundant, before becoming a target for email con artists posing as the HMRC.

Castle Tumble YOUNG MAN: Rescued from difficult area. A YOUNG man has been injured after falling from the battlement of the Castillo de Los Templarios, in Ponferrada, León on Sunday, September 20. At 3.11am the young man was left unconscious in an area that was very difficult to access, therefore the help of the Ponferrada firefighters was required. At the scene, Sacyl staff treated a 25-year-old man who was then transferred in a mobile ICU to El Bierzo Hospital.
Unguarded gun ONE of Dominic Raab’s protection squad detectives has been suspended following a ‘security error.’ The detective in question has now been taken off duty as it was revealed he left behind his loaded gun on a flight that the Foreign Secretary of State had just exited from at Heathrow airport. The jet had just returned from Washington DC where Raab had been involved in talks with US leaders on Brexit and Northern Ireland. It is reported that a cleaner boarded the plane and spotted the loaded gun on the seat previously occupied by the detective and she immediately raised the alarm. Police rushed to the jet, but stood down once they realised it belonged to one of Mr Raab’s bodyguards.
Snapchat Fail A WOMAN fell from a car window on the M25 while on Snapchat, narrowly avoiding fatal injury. The avid selfie lover fell out her car window on the M25 whilst trying to take a snap chat video on the motorway. The woman was lucky enough to be missed by the speeding motorway traffic of the M25 and escaped with only minor injuries. The woman leaned out the window of the car trying to snap a creative selfie in the speeding traffic and lost her balance, falling out the window and into the oncoming traffic. The unnamed woman fell onto the M25 between Junction six and the Clacket Lane services at 1.30am on Saturday. She fell directly into a live lane of traffic and avoided being run over by sheer luck. The Twitter account of the Surrey police force released a tweet saying, “It is only by luck she wasn’t seriously injured or killed. #nowords”
Extension of ERTE
VIAJES EL CORTE INGLÉS has put forward its initial proposal for a new temporary employment regulation file (ERTE) to the unions. The move could affect 4,748 workers and run from October 1 of this year to August 31, 2021, after the impact of the coronavirus crisis in the tourism sector. In order to carry this out, it is intended to temporarily close 277 sales points of the current 420 and transfer Viajes El Corte Inglés workers for the duration of the ERTE to the closest points of sale, preferably shopping centres. Viajes El Corte Inglés, the number one travel agency in Spain, belongs to one of the most important business groups in the country: El Corte Inglés.

STRETCHED: He now has a genuine need to provide for his family. BORIS JOHNSON has expressed financial worries as the role of Prime Minister takes its toll on the 56year-old. The PM has seen his earnings half since taking up the position to run the country. It is understood that his prePrime Ministerial salary was in the region of £350,000 per year. Much of that being attributed to his Daily Telegraph column which reportedly garnered him £275,000 a year. No longer having his column as a source of income, Mr Johnson is now forced to survive on his Prime Minister’s salary of £150,000. One friend was quoted, saying, “He’s always worried about money, he has a genuine need to provide for his family, all of them, and I think that does worry him.” It is impossible to ascertain whether Mr Johnson is happy with, or even enjoying, the job however per haps he would have been better off sticking with his Daily Telegraph gig.

Project Costa’s first distribution of food for the homeless in the Albir, Altea and Calpe areas, the team carried out a second drive in Benidor m last Friday,
(September 18) and a third was due to take place in the same area on Tuesday night (September 22). “We are now finding out where the homeless are and going to them rather than pitching up in one spot, it seems to work better that way,” project founder, Ar ne Soeten told Euro Weekly News. “On our first outing, we managed to feed and give clothes to
around a dozen people, now we know of around 24 people who need our help.” In addition to trying to feed as many homeless people as possible, Project Costa also plans to offer a rehabilitation programme for up to three people at a time in a halfway home currently being refurbished in Benitachell. “Things are going well at the halfway house. We are now doing the

AS cash use declines, Royal Mint says it won’t produce any more 2p or £2 coins for a decade. There are seemingly enough to last for the next 10 years, and as such the Royal Mint has no plans to produce any more. According to the National Audit Office, in 2019, cash was used in less
than three in 10 transactions. By 2028, experts predict it may only be used in one in 10. This is in stark contrast to a decade ago when cash was used for six in every 10 transactions. In March, the government unveiled legislation to protect future access to cash, with older generations in mind.

Nobel candidate CLIMATE change activist Greta Thunberg is in the running for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. politicians have put forward the teenager’s name. This is the second year in a row Thunberg has been nominated for the $1 million prize. This time she is one of 318 candidates, but according to historian and author of a number of books about the award, Asle Sveen, current events make her a strong contender. This year’s winner will be announced in Oslo on October 9.

Admits crime A SUSPECT has been arrested for the disappearance of Manuela Chavero. The ongoing investigation has been a long and exhaustive experience. The Guardia Civil are said to have arrested a man in connection with her disappearance and it is claimed that he has confessed to her disappearance and murder. Chavero went missing in the early hours of the morning of July 5, 2016 from Monesterio and a man from this municipality has now been arrested for the crime. The 28-year-old suspect has a d m i t t e d t o m u rd e r i n g Chavero, 42, and was known to the victim as a close acquaintance and neighbour. The suspect has been detained by the Guardia Civil in Zafra and the authorities are now investigating further with several searches being carried out, including one on his home. An anonymous letter was delivered to Chavero’s sister, Emilia Chavero, which was the passed to police. They have stated that this was the determining factor in pursuing the suspect.

Cats in the Flat ANIMAL rescue services and the town hall of the Valencian town of Gandia are looking for a home for 96 cats which have had to be taken in after their owner was evicted from his flat. The animal protection group Spama Safor has made an appeal through social networks after the locks were changed on the apartment where the man lived with the cats.
The 96 cats had to be removed in two groups. On Friday, September 18, the first 50 cats were removed and on Saturday, the remainder before the whole apartment had to get a very deep clean. The Health department pointed out that the animals were properly cared for and that the house was equipped to keep them, despite the fact that “a flat is not a place to keep 96 cats.”

Political Viewpoint from Spain by DAMON MITCHELL SPAIN’S Second Deputy Prime Minister and secretary-general of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, has defended the need to move towards a ‘New Republic.’ He suggests that new republic should recognise the plurinationality of Spain, with an organisation ‘more federal, more confederal’ and that moves away from centralism. “I believe that working and building alliances to advance to the republican horizon has to be one of the political tasks of Podemos in the coming years,” Iglesias said in his speech before his party. For Iglesias, this republican future is a “scenario for overcoming the territorial crisis that Spain is experiencing” and may represent, he said, “a common project that appeals to all the peoples of the State against the centralism” of the monarchy. However, and although Iglesias has not referred in his speech to the time frame of this new republic, the vice president considers it to be a medium or long-term project.
In the context of the crisis of the monarchy with the departure of King Juan Carlos and the investigation in the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office on the possible commissions paid by Saudi Arabia for the construction of the AVE to Mecca, Iglesias thus vindicates the republican vocation of Podemos compared to what he considers a monarchical PSOE party. “Those of us who are Republicans have to be able to understand the historical moment in which the Spanish monarchy is found and the model of state that this monarchy embodies. We have to have the courage and the audacity so that Spain advances towards the horizon of a new republic,” defended Iglesias. According to this project, the ‘New Republic’ should leave behind an economic model based on construction and tourism, which ‘has become the main obstacle to the economic development of Spain.’ “The monarchy no longer represents the business opportunities of the most dynamic business sectors. Those sectors have to be part of a new republican horizon that means economic modernisation, greater efficiency and competitive capacity,” said Iglesias. In his opinion, there is an ‘exhaustion’ of the historical role that the monarchy has played in Spain.
EXPATS LOSE ACCOUNTS UK BANKS: To close expat accounts.
TENS of thousands of British expats living in Europe are receiving notices from their UK banks that their accounts will be closed in weeks due to post-Brexit rules. Banks now have to decide which countries they want to continue operating in. Lloyds Bank confirmed it will pull services from Holland, Slovakia, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Portugal - a move that impacts 13,000 Brits. Barclays also confirmed bank and credit card customers living in the EU are being warned their accounts may be closed. Customers living in Spain, France and Belgium have already received notice
their Barclaycards will be cancelled on November 16. Coutts also confirmed it will be no longer serve customers based in the EU. A source explained: “In some cases, continuing to serve customers would be incredibly complex, extremely expensive and very time-consuming, and simply would not make economic sense. This is passporting - this is the reality of Brexit.” Under the current legislation, it will become illegal for UK banks to provide services to expat customers living in Europe after Britain leaves the EU. Boris Johnson has just a month left to strike a deal and 102 days before the transition period officially ends.

International Day of Peace MONDAY September 21 was celebrated as the United Nations International Day of Peace and Councillor Pilar Ramírez alongside representatives of Together for Peace Benalmadena spoke about their commitment to the concept. The Benalmadena Association was set up seven years ago with the stated aim of bringing peace to the 103 municipalities that make up Malaga Province and although they were not able to
hold their usual event due to pandemic restrictions, they are still committed to promoting peace. At a very scaled down meeting, the councillor said “Today is a significant day for strengthening the bonds of peace and harmony between nations, and what better way than to celebrate the day in the company of the representatives of Together for Peace from Benalmadena?”

SOME decisions approved at a community meeting of owners could be considered invalid because they are contrary to the community statutes, some because they undermine the legal rights of some of the owners, others are not in the general interests of the community. At some meetings the
Contesting Community Decisions criteria needed to ‘legally’ approve a proposal is not properly fulfilled, for example some decisions have to be approved unanimously by all the owners not just those present. Others require approval by ‘special majori-
ty’ meaning three-fifths of the owners who collectively by their coefficients (quotas) own three-fifths of the community and sometimes by ‘double majority’ a majority of owners who own a majority of the property. However some decisions are incorrectly pushed through by only a simple majority of the owners present or represented. The Law of Horizontal Property in article 18:1 states clearly the three reasons why an approved decision may be invalid. First, it is contrary to Spanish law or to the community statutes. Second, it is seriously damaging to the interests of the community and only benefits one or several of the owners and third, causes serious harm to an owner who has no legal obligation to suffer this harm or the decision has been approved by

an abuse of the law. What is not clear to many owners is that it is not enough for an owner to send a letter to the community administration stating they consider the decision approved to be invalid because to them it goes against the law. To be legally against any approval the owner has to go to court with a solicitor and procurator and ask for it to be declared null and void by a judge. Otherwise decisions approved at a general meeting of owners will remain valid until ordered otherwise. Furthermore if a decision is to be contested in
court this has to be done within a certain period of time. If the complaint is for unfair damage to an owner or to the community, and the owner was present at the meeting, the owner must contest the approval within three months. If the owner was not present then three months from when they became aware or were officially notified of the decision. If the community’s approval goes against the Law of Horizontal Property or the community’s own statutes, the time limit extends to one year. If the approval goes against the laws concerning the rights of workers for example employing a gardener or a porter without paying their social security or there is a breach of Spanish criminal law, then a case can be brought at any time to ask for the approval to be declared invalid.

In addition to the set time limits and the conditions mentioned in article 18:1 there are other considerations. The complaint can only be brought to court by an owner, not by a tenant, an administrator or porter etc, or other person who is considered to be a third party damaged as a consequence of the approval. If the owner bringing the case was present at the meeting they must be minuted as having voted against the proposal, as it is not possible to contest a decision that an owner had previously voted in favour of. Furthermore cases can only be brought to court by members of the community who are up-todate with their payments to their community, both at the time the decision was approved and at the time the lawsuit was presented to the court, owners and lawyers may have opinions, but only judges can annul decisions.

Spanish bank merger WHEN first mooted it appeared that there would be a merger between Spain’s third and fourth largest banks, Caixa and Bankia but the reality now appears that Caixa will retain its trad ing name whilst Bankia will slowly disappear. Caixa had previously taken over Barclays Spanish retail business and now will become the largest bank in Spain with total assets of more than €600 billion. With much larger operations out side of the country, both Santander and BBVA will however remain as
numbers one and two in worth. Bankia has had a chequered history being created from the amalgama tion of a number of savings banks, pushed into stock market flotation using what has now been recognised as false figures, seeing its chairman Rodrigo Rato disgraced and impris oned and finally being taken over by the Spanish taxpayer. The new business has been agreed in principle by the two banks but there is quite a way to go, including completion of due diligence, approval by Bankia shareholders and then,

NORMALLY at the forefront of profitable Spanish companies, the Inditex Group, has taken a huge hit from the Covid19 pandemic with a 37 per cent sales drop to €8 billion in its first 2020 six month financial report. Sales for the same period last year were €12.8 billion which shows the dramatic af fect that the lockdown had on the company’s turnover and they are showing a €198 mil lion loss compared to a €1.5 billion profit. Each one of its brands, Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho and Uterqüe experienced re ductions in sales ranging from 25 per cent to 50 per cent, but executive chairman Pablo Isla said that he is “particularly
pleased with our online sales growth, which demonstrates the critical importance of our strategy to integrate store and online. This is a cornerstone of our unique business model.” The good news continues with the fact that after re opening the majority of its stores (98 per cent) the sec ond quarter of the year saw it return to profit with a positive contribution of €214 million and its ‘piggy bank’ amassed €6.5 billion so it certainly looks safe and sound for the future. Despite the shortterm loss es, the company continues to support charitable causes and during that period donated clothing through UNHCR to refugees in Rwanda as part of the humanitarian relief effort there.
Increased production ALTHOUGH Nissan will go ahead with the closure of its vehicle production in Barcelona at the end of this year, management believe that workers should in crease production whilst they still have jobs. Reports suggest that cur rent production is as low as 40 vehicles a day compared to 160 produced daily prior to the lockdown and that the October target is to reach at least 128 vehicles every day until final closure. There is a current de mand from Japan for new vehicles and Spain can help meet those needs.
Business rate holiday SADIQ KHAN, mayor of Lon don in the company of many London based busi ness owners has appealed to the British government to extend the business rates holiday in order to try to cut the number of possi ble job losses that could oc cur. With a spike in Covid19 cases and street crack downs expected shortly, Khan argues that there could be another 50,000 job losses if the holiday isn’t extended beyond next March. £50bn missing
LESS CASH: Latest £20 polymer bank note. THE National Audit Office (NAO) in the UK is responsible for reviewing all areas of government expenditure and to publish its findings without reference to political opinion. Its latest review concerned the question of cash in society and how it is managed as there are no less than five different or ganisations who each have their own role, but it appears that there is no single controlling voice. The Treasury, the Bank of Eng land, the Royal Mint, the Finan cial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Payments Systems Regulator (PSR) are all involved and it should be recognised that differ
ent public bodies may well have different needs and expecta tions. As far as bank notes are con cerned, these are produced by a public company De La Rue under contract to the Bank of England and this business is a commercial activity with agreed rates for pro duction of the notes, the quanti ties being set by the Bank with input from the Treasury. Currently the NAO believes that there are bank notes valued at £50 billion (€55 billion) which are in circulation but are not be ing used for any form of transac tion and noone knows for sure where this money has gone. The use of cash in transac tions is, however, in decline: 10 years ago, cash was used in six
Dismal forecast THE Bank of Spain has now downgraded its economic forecast due to the rise in Covid-19 infections and doesn’t expect Spain’s economy to return to pre-pandemic levels until 2023 at the earliest assuming there is an effective vaccine introduced by the middle of next year. The bank previously forecast that Spain’s gross domestic product (GDP) would be reduced between 9.2 per cent and 11.6 per cent this year, but it is now more pessimistic, expecting the fall to be in the region of 10.5 per cent to 12.6 per cent.

Negative interest ALTHOUGH the Bank of England decided to leave the headline interest rate at 0.1 per cent during the September meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee, minutes show that it is certainly considering a negative interest rate policy for the future.
Pension age THERE was bad news for women when the UK Court of Appeal refused to accept that the rise in women’s pension age was either unlawful discrimination or a breach of human rights and although the judges felt sympathy, they couldn’t overturn Parliament’s decision.

LEAPY LEE SAYS IT OTHERS THINK IT THROUGHOUT this whole surge of racial diversity and BLM furore, one fact is becoming abundantly clear; namely the hatred that vast numbers of black people have for their white counterparts! It is also becoming blatantly obvious, that the majority of the white population have been sailing on completely oblivious to this deep resentment that has obviously been festering in the hearts of people of colour for generations. Some of the postings on social media have been extremely disquieting to say the least - and the divide is now growing at an alarming rate. Unfortunately hatred breeds hatred and due to these revelations, droves of white people, who have never before had a discriminatory bone in their body are becoming totally confused. Many, who have actually revered black artists and sports people over the years, are now becoming painfully aware that they themselves are in fact intensely disliked merely for the colour of their skin. Subsequently they have begun to devel-

Basically all the appeasement and patronising attitudes of the left, (particularly the BBC) are driving a wedge between black and white which is raising the levels of enmity to very dangerous levels indeed. This latest ‘Racial Bias Guide,’ published by the BBC is a typical case in point. Some of its directives are utterly ridiculous. Their sports commentators have been instructed to find other descriptions for ‘pace’ and ‘power’ when describing the play of black football players. Apparently the use of these words is ‘racial stereotyping’ and implies that the talent of these players is down to physical strength and not intelligence. Have you ever heard such utter poppycock in your life? Picture the scene. Commentator. ‘Now, here comes Sterling speeding down the wing; the intelligence in those legs is simply inspiring. His level of mental ability is standing him in great stead and he shows an intimate understanding of the geometrics of the field, plus his boot striking the ball at exactly the right angle gives one a clear inkling that his knowledge of
the theory of Pythagoras is firmly entrenched in his psyche.’ Give us a break, much of the talent of any footballer lies in his pace and power. True they also need a certain level of intelligence and understanding of the game, but Einsteins they certainly don’t have to be. Describing a black footballer as having ‘pace and power’ is actually a great compliment. To interpret it as being a form of racism is utterly ridiculous and shows just what a waste of space these leftie bigots are. Their ability to stir up racism where it never before existed is dangerous in the extreme and if the whole sorry exercise leads to violence and conflict, the blame lies firmly at their doorstep. Personally I think they should be brought to book for racial incitement. They are causing more division and racial tension than has ever been perceived before. King’s praise PRIDE: Felipe VI shares his ‘affection and admiration.’
THE King of Spain, Felipe VI, on Sunday, September 20, presided over the Spanish Legion’s centenay event at the Álvarez de Sotomayor Base in Almeria. The day is emblematic as it coincides with the date on which the first legionary enlisted. Accompanied by the Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles and Chief of the Army General Staff, Francisco Javier Varela, King Felipe VI reviewed the troop after paying his honours on the centenary, that he created. The centenary is celebrated under the motto of ‘Cien años de valor, el valor de cien años,’ which translates as, ‘One hundred years of value, the value of one hundred years.’ During the event King Felipe VI announced his ‘affection’ and ‘admiration’ to the members of the Legion. Margarita Robles, congratulated the Legion with a message through social networks in which she showed her ‘pride’ and highlighted “the work they do to make a country stronger and stronger every day, every day better.” She added, “You are brave, generous and loyal, you are a source of pride for all of Spain.” She also conveyed “her love and support” and indicated that they have “a present and a future that we all want be the best.”

It is a struggle at the moment MIKE SENKER IN MY OPINION Views of a Grumpy Old Man I’M often asked if I’m a glass half full or half empty person. My answer is always half full because even though I’m grumpy I have a positive, can’t be beat attitude. I’ve always treated life as a sequence of games and I try and win as many as I can. But at the moment, if someone was to ask me, I’d have to say I don’t know because someone’s nicked my friggin’ glass and left me with a plastic cup with a hole in it and it doesn’t matter how much I pour into it, it keeps emptying. But I’m not giving up - I’ll just keep pouring but very soon even I will have to give up and find another vessel to drink from. Wow, that was profound! But I hope you understand what I mean. It is a struggle at the moment. Accents need to be banned! Not in real life of course but definitely on the TV and, of course, not if the person comes from the same country as the accent. Those that need to be banned are Eastern European baddies. The ones that
add nothing to the enjoyment of the show and cause me to keep asking Mrs S what someone said. I watched a TV series the other day and wondered why can’t they just speak normally? Plus, in these woke times surely there must be a group that says if the part is an Eastern European villain then they have to get a real one to play the part. Donald Trump predicted on Wednesday at least 100 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine could be distributed by the end of 2020, contradicting a top government health official Trump dismissed as confused. Earlier, Robert Redfield, director of the federal Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, said a Covid-19 vaccine could be broadly rolled out by the middle of next year or a little later. “No I think he made a mistake when he said that,” Trump said. “That’s incorrect information. I believe he was confused. I think he just misunderstood the question, probably.” Really? Bumbling idiot. You honestly want people to believe you as opposed to the guy that heads up the CDC? Trump is unreal and for those that have a go at me for calling him out at least 50 per cent of voters in US think the same... sort of glass half full. Under the Influence GAVIN LAMBE-MURPHY LIFE in the New Normal, we ask ourselves, are we being influenced? Are we the influencers, or are we simply disinterested? Somehow, I feel I may be all of the above, at given times of the day. But hey, why be boring? I was contacted recently by a newspaper, asking if I would speak about the subject of Influencers, having been something of an ‘original influencer,’ back in the day. It’s not the first time I’ve been asked to comment on such, as I used to frequently receive requests to promote various luxury items in my Sunday Times column. From the latest phone, to first class travel, to wonderful cars. The PR firms were in touch with my management teams weekly. It was like a frenzy, as to which products or places would make the grade. At the time, as an early 20-something, I saw the whole thing as silly, but fun. These days, however, it’s clearly big business. Therefore, I am not the right man to discuss the career choice further. However, one thing I have noticed on Instagram, certain Influencers driving whilst capturing videos. Dangerous, to try pout and change lanes, one can imagine. Then the money shot - cute kid in the rear seat, on his way to school. Eyes on the road, or eyes to the stars, springs to mind. If you’re going to attract followers, be sure to influence them correctly. Endless photos of your lunch, your new shoes, even paid for partnerships, but please be smart and put the phone down when driving. Be a good influence, not a reckless one. Thankfully, a fantastic lunch party lifted mid-week. One of the most beautiful villas in Marbella, was the setting. The main attraction - a considerable art collection. From Picasso, to Pistoletto. From Renoir, to Rothko, all there. A feast for the eyes. Followed by a real feast, a proper Andalucian lunch, that rolled on for hours. From there I was due to meet friends for drinks at Puente Romano.
INFLUENCER: One of the originals. My friend Eduardo offered to collect me in his brand new Ferrari - I think he would have picked me up in Madrid, if it meant he could have the excuse to drive. Anyhow, we had something of a mishap in the centre of Marbella town, as the electrics of the car went into meltdown, leaving us blocking the traffic at rush hour. I slid as far down into the seat as I possibly could, not so easy at 6’1”. As the other motorists screamed at us, and car spotters photographed the scene, Ed ordered that I hop out and push the Italian machine to the side of the road. So that’s just what I did, laughing, red faced, with pedestrians as they cheered. You see that’s the thing with real world versus virtual, when funny things are actually happening, we don’t have time to post them online, we are simply too wrapped up in the moment. Or in some cases dying of embarrassment. So perhaps, put the phone down, engage with the world, look your family and friends in the eyes when you speak. You may just be reminded that the real world is the place that counts. Have a super week!

‘HAPPY’ HAIRDRESSER AD GETS THE CHOP DID you read about the job centre where a ‘jobsworth’ banned a job advert for a ‘happy’ stylist on the grounds it could ‘discriminate’ against unhappy people? The hair salon owner thought someone was winding her up when she had a phone call telling her to tweak the wording. Brilliant! What next? Jobs can’t be advertised for professionals with experience and drive, in case they discriminate against non-professionals, the inexperienced, and those without drive? Sounds like it was a really bad hair day for someone! Sounds like the person in the job centre was trying to make sure they’d be eligible to apply. How about setting up a salon called Les Misérables, where only whingers can apply to work? Haha! Seriously, the problem is, employees nowadays (particularly government employees) are rarely given any leeway. They have to follow a preset system as this is considered

£500 Quarantine STAY SAFE: And be paid for it too. THE UK government are set to launch a scheme offering low-income earners in England £500 in exchange for agreeing to self-isolate. The scheme will begin in October around the same time that English residents face fines of up to £10,000 fines for breaking quarantine. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the idea is to protect those that may be most vulnerable as Covid cases grow and point towards a second wave. Many British residents won’t be eligible for such schemes and will wait in hope for others to be announced through local government support.
There are certain criteria you must meet including being in receipt of Universal Credit, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, incomebased Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit or Working Tax Credit. You must also have been asked to self-quarantine by NHS Test and Trace whether it be for 10 days as you have tested positive, or for two weeks because of a positive test or close contact to a positive case. At this point in time, the scheme is only available in England, NOT in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

BBC aims its sights at mid-morning ratings war With ITV as it develops an alternative choice for viewers to This Morning. Currently, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby dominate the mid-morning schedule however all that could be set to change. It has been suggested that the concept for the show would be closely linked to The One Show and could see Stacey Dooley and Rylan Clark take point as the show’s hosts. Whilst Good Morning Britain has the controversial and opinionated Pier Morgan to draw in return viewers, the BBC are searching to capitalise on their exceptionally high breakfast viewing figures, which seriously outranks Good Morning Britain, thereby preventing audience members from switching the channel. A source at the BBC is reported as having said, “The thinking is that if they can put a daytime version of the show on straight after BBC Breakfast, they’ll keep some of those viewers, and will follow the same formula as The One Show but with segments tailored to a new daytime audience.”

DEAR Euro Weekly News, I was so utterly dismayed to read your Costa del Sol front cover piece about the bar owners in Fuengirola. Eight bars abandoned within months!? That is both shocking and sad. Many people come out here to live a dream. They bring their life savings, they see a gap in the market and try and do something to make themselves and others happy and then they get this massive kick in the face. The coast survives upon entertainment and music. Fining bars for playing music? What on earth has that got to do with Covid. Unfortunately, the controversial question needs to be asked, were any of these Spanish bars or are they only the expat bars. Whether they agree or not I have seen and heard of victimisation by the police against foreigners, bars included. I understand that they are trying to look after their own, but they are destroying people’s livelihoods and dreams as they do so. Surely there is enough room for them all. RECENT pictures have emerged of Wuhan, they show dance parties and pool parties, something we would never even contemplate taking part in just now. They also show something else even more important, laughs and smiles. Two things that can brighten up anyone’s day but are very sadly missing from the streets of the UK, Spain, Italy etc at the moment. How has Wuhan done it? Can’t we learn from them? They have seen a total U-turn to the start of the pandemic there, when they were the epicentre of what was to become a global virus. Life was abruptly put on hold and their own world shut down. Hospitals were overflowing with patients, and a rapidly increasing death toll and uncertainty about when the lockdown would end spread fear and panic. What they live now reflects a strategic victory in fighting the virus. Wuhan has not seen a local infection since May, anything else has been imported but tackled swiftly. There is still some need for caution, gatherings and mass celebrations are not encouraged, but masks have been abandoned and people are happy to be back with their families. In Wuhan, residents faced a 76-day quarantine lockdown during the worst of the outbreak. Now many have who survived are ready to rid themselves of that trauma and move on. Maybe it is just bravado or turning a blind eye and getting on with their lives. Whatever they are doing it is working. Infections have dropped and people are again smiling. Something we hope we can all experience very soon.

Other blunders include ‘Dashhund’ when the correct word is ‘Dachshund,’ and pronounced ‘Dachhshunt,’ Dachs being a badger and Hund a dog or hound. Again, the ‘ch’ is pronounced as in ‘loch.’ Then there is the manufacturer Braun, correctly pronounced like the English ‘brown’ and not as ‘brawn.’ I blame the Americans, who still insist on spelling ‘Adolf’ as ‘Adolph’ and pronouncing it ‘Aye-dolf,’ and whose citizens with German ancestors cannot pronounce their own surnames properly. Are they ashamed of them? Thus we get ‘Schwortsengger’ when it should be pronounced ‘Shwaartsenegger,’ ‘Winesteen,’ when it should be pronounced ‘Vineshtine,’ and ‘Shwortskopf’ when it should be ‘Schwaartskopf.’ Still, given that Americans are still struggling to speak decent English after over 200 years, decent German will elude them for another 500, methinks. As you are unlikely to receive this particular local paper I thought you might be interested in the following article, I think it would fall nicely into your ‘You couldn’t make it up’ section as it discusses how Zebra crossings and children’s warning signs are deemed to be sexist. I think there must be a committee somewhere that looks round to find the next stupid thing to do. Could I also recommend that you take a look at what the criteria for the 2022 best picture Oscar are going to be if it wasn’t a wind-up it was unbelievable. I’m not sure just who would win it? Do You Listen To Your Thoughts?
LOCKYER DID you know, you have up to 60,000 thoughts per day, and up to 80 per cent of those are negative? A shocking statistic isn’t it! Our thoughts are a HUGE part of our lives, but out of those 60,000, how many of those thoughts do you actually listen to? Society’s social wheel teaches us to carry on with our normal, daily tasks, without actually asking ourselves. ‘What is it I am truly thinking?’ We, as humans, believe that our thoughts are our reality, we’ve allowed these thoughts and absorbed them since we were a child. When a thought comes into our mind, our brain searches for a memory that we can relate to that thought. If the memory is negative, the Cortisol hormone is released into our nervous system to protect us, therefore, giving us a warning sign of danger. If the memory is positive, the hormone
Dopamine is released, to give us pleasure. The problem that many people have is the fact that thoughts enter the mind, however, you don’t listen to what your thoughts are trying to tell you. It’s almost like the thoughts are brushed under the carpet, or accepted as ‘just a bad day.’ The more you ignore these thoughts, the louder the ego (little voice in your head) gets. This little voice acts like a parent or a teacher, telling you what to do or not to do, making you feel deflated and uncertain of who you are. You struggle to hear your true self because you have that many thoughts, it feels like you’re in a playground with 50 screaming children. So, how can you truly listen to your thoughts and understand what they
are trying to say to you? Here is a mindset technique that I have recently taught my clients. Try this in the comfort of your own home. 1. Find a comfortable quiet place, where you can be alone for the next 10 minutes. Light a candle, put on some soft music, or even sit in silence. It is important that you do what works for you. 2. Grab a piece of paper and pen, without thinking of the task, write down any thoughts that come into your mind. This could be an array of one-word thoughts, a sentence, even a paragraph. Try not to overthink the task in hand, just go with the flow and trust yourself. 3. Next to each thought, write down the emotion/feeling that you attach to this thought. How does this thought make you feel?

AUTUMN has settled in, and after making itself comfortable, it is finally bringing colder temperatures. For many, the cooler temperature is a welcome relief to the blazing heat and humidity of the summer. But the biggest organ in the body the skin - has already started getting goose bumps. Skin is our protection against external conditions and forms a protective barrier over the body’s surface. The epidermis is the outermost layer and makes sure to keep water in the body and infectious germs from entering. Seasonal changes can irritate and exacerbate existing skin conditions. A big percentage of the population is affected by some type of skin ailment in varying degrees of severity. Wind and cold aggravates dry and inflamed skin. For people who experience rosacea, the summer months can be a bad time of year. On the other hand, a wintery climate can be problematic for eczema, psoriasis and acne. Even people with a healthy dermis will notice red cheeks, taut skin and cracked lips. Although the effects of winter cannot be completely avoided, experts do recommend following a series of habits that can benefit the skin. An important thing to avoid is scalding hot baths and showers as the heat strips the skin of its natural oils. A shorter, cooler shower will help plus using a moisturising cream. Exposure to hot environments such as air-conditioned cars or rooms with dry air can further dehydrate the epidermis. A conscious effort should be made to drink plenty of water and supplementing diet with Omega 3 and 6 oils can reduce inflammation. Cosying up to the radiator or fireplace will also cause dryness, a humidifier will help this.

Hi everyone! MS BIPOLAR UP AND DOWN WITH BALANCE UNEDITED TRYING to make this week’s column really personal as I think it may help me get a lot off my chest, but also someone out there reading this may feel comfort. I haven’t been OKAY for a few days I’m tired… I’m really, really tired, all I seem to be doing at the moment is absorbing other people’s emotions and feelings, which is then creating anxiety, stress and an overwhelming feeling for me. I would class myself as a person that has always been an empath, but it’s taking over me. I can’t seem to shift this big heavy bag of other people’s emotions, problems , and it’s starting to affect me. I have always been a sensitive soul, I could cry over spilt milk sometimes!! But recently things are getting out of hand and I’m not sure how to deal with it. But life carries on around so I can’t just lay in bed all day and wait for this to pass. I can’t not answer the phone to people and ignore them. As I’ve said many times, people view me as a high-functioning bipolar and to a large
extent, this is true. I do many things every day that many people with bipolar disorder can’t do because of their illness. I do battle with my bipolar demons and win more than some others. But I still find bipolar disorder, and life, to a large extent completely overwhelming and I feel paralysed by it. Of course, this might be in part because bipolar disorder is, in fact, overwhelming. People who don’t have bipolar disorder rarely understand this - they may view it as ‘just another illness’ - but people with bipolar disorder know. Bipolar disorder fundamentally changes the way your brain works and dealing with every single thought running through a bad circuit is overwhelming. In fact, if there were a bigger word for overwhelming, I would use it. It’s over-overwhelming. It’s double-overwhelming. It’s overwhelming squared. And so we fight this overwhelming disorder in spite of it feeling impossible. But it’s paralysing at times. It’s paralysing to have all these false thoughts pouring out of your brain. Gut health chaos A NEW study has found that up to 50 per cent of common medication negatively affects gut health. Researchers at Maastricht University in the Netherlands explain that the discovery can explain many of pharmaceutical’s side effects, such as obesity. The investigation showed that certain drugs changed the composition of gut bacteria, leading to a risk of intestinal infection and weight gain. Taking into account common drug categories, at least 18 of the 41 studied had notable repercussions on the digestive system. The microbiome inside the intestines is made up of thousands of different types of bacteria. These organisms are essential in maintaining many health aspects such as a strong immune system, a healthy
heart and regulating weight. These microbes work together as another organ in the body and can sometimes weigh between one and two kilos. If gut composition isn’t balanced and healthy many ailments can start to appear. Constant fatigue, skin irritation, food intolerances and an upset stomach are just a few of the consequences a debilitated microbiome can have. For the study, scientists analysed 2,000 stool samples from healthy people and those that presented irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. SEVERAL years ago, I was invited to do some cooking shows and cookery demos in South Africa filmed live on stage in Johannesburg and Cape Town. I flew over with some of my colleagues from Ready Steady Cook including Antony Worrall Thompson, Brian Turner and James Martin. We had a great time, I loved South Africa it’s a truly beautiful country but I could
see that it had serous political issues, a bit like Spain really! Anyway, I met some lovely people including some of the South African chefs and I kept in touch with them all these years. When I was back at home in London, I met up with some of the SA crowd from my trip and they introduced me to some of their friends. One of them was Michele who became my girlfriend and eventually my wife, we were married on September 19, 2016 at El Oceano Hotel, when life was reasonably normal. So, I have a lot to thank South Africa for! Michele was brought up
in South Africa and I was smitten when I met her and still am and as it was our anniversary, I said I would cook for her whatever she wanted. The week of our anniversary Michele’s step sister Nadia called to say that she was flying over to stay with us for few weeks. I picked her up from the airport and then we remembered that this time four years ago Michele and I had got married and we had picked Nadia up on the same day at exactly the same time four years before. The night Nadia arrived we were invited by the Euesdens (Euro Weekly News owners) to dinner in Elviria
Spicy cauliflower cous cous Ingredients for four 1 small cauliflower 250 ml of vegetable stock 1 tablespoon of chakalaka (see recipe below) 1 punnet of mixed mushrooms sliced and cooked A little olive oil Coriander or parsley sprigs Maldon salt and freshly milled black pepper To make the cauli cous cous Pick the stalks off the cauliflower and add the florets one by one to a blender and blend. Bring the vegetable stock to the boil and add a generous tablespoon of the chakalaka to the warm stock. Pour into the blender and pulse. Remove from blender and stir in the mushrooms, taste and season and add sprigs of coriander on top and a drizzle of olive oil. For the roasted vegetables 1 small aubergine or half a large one 1 onion peeled and quartered 1 large courgette sliced thickly (1cm) 1 small green pepper cut into even squares of approx 3cm 1 small red pepper as above 6 portabella mushrooms (cut in halves) 8 pieces of marinated green chilli (pickled Jalapenos in a jar) Half block of feta cheese approx 100g 4 small red cherry tomatoes 4 small yellow cherry tomatoes
1 fresh red chilli sliced thinly Olive oil Maldon salt Coriander sprigs To cook the vegetables Pre heat the oven to 200ºC. Simply cut all the vegetables into chunky pieces and put in a roasting dish. Drizzle with olive oil and scatter over the fresh red chilli. Roast covered in tin foil for 10 minutes and then remove the tin foil. Return to the oven and roast for a further five minutes. Serve with sprigs of coriander over and crumble over the feta cheese. For the chakalaka Ingredients 1 onion chopped 1 red pepper chopped roughly 2 red jalapeno chillies chopped 2 teaspoons of chilli flakes 2 cloves of garlic peeled and sliced 1 small tin of chopped tomatoes Approx. 200g of cooked beans from a jar Method Sweat off the onion and garlic and peppers, add the tomatoes and beans and chillies and cook for about 10 minutes on a low heat. Now blend in a food processor on pulse so that it has some texture (not totally smooth) Taste, season and serve. Serve the three things together in the centre of the table and don’t forget the prawns if you prefer! Lol.

Now I like vegetarians, I couldn’t eat a whole one but I do like them. “What would you like to eat tonight Nadia?” “Oh, just some vegetables please” she says. So, Michele suggests roasted vegetables with feta “it’s my fav” she says. “That sounds lovely” I say (with a cheeky grin) “but I am a carnivore, is that all you want?” “You don’t need meat every day,” Michele says and so I start to prepare the vegetables and, in the fridge, I find a cauliflower. Do you know that in the
UK a cauli costs about 70p but in this country we pay at least €2.99 for it? Ingredients are expensive over here, but the idea I had was to make a cauliflower cous cous with some spices and mushrooms and served with some roasted vegetables and the legendry South African spicy tomato-based sauce called chakalaka with a side of prawns just for me! I would feel cheated if I just eat vegetarian, I know that sounds odd, but I am a chef, chefs like to eat! So, I cooked the small banquet of roasted vegetables, the cauli cous cous was a sensation it really was. Understanding what we say and how we say it DOGS’ brains understand not only what we say but also how we say it and are able to distinguish the words and tones we use when speaking to them, a new study has revealed. Led by Attila Andics, professor at the University of Lorand in Budapest, the study, the results of which were published by Science magazine, played recordings of their trainers using different words and tones to 13 different dogs while using magnetic resonance scanners to study how their brains reacted. The dogs were found to use the left hemispheres of the brains, just like humans, and to recognise each word separately regardless of tone. “This study is the first step towards understanding how dogs interpret human speech and can help us understand communication between the two and make it more efficient,” Andics explained. Words are the main element of language and communication, while tone is another way of transmitting information. Humans use both to understand what they’re hearing, and the aim of the study, Andics said, was to discover whether dogs were also able to separate the two. In effect, they were found to process vocabulary and tone separately. Therefore, the team concluded, dogs are indeed able to distinguish between the words we say to them and the tone we use.

WALKING FOOTBALL BACK IN ACTION WITH the long awaited start to the new season now looking likely to be January the South of Spain Walking Football League clubs intend to be ready and will play a series of ‘friendly’ matches against each other to keep their players fit and prepared for the big day. Last Saturday,September 19 saw seven teams gather at the Calahonda complex for the BAHA Irish Whiskey International tournament. Malaga (formerly Smiles) three teams, Benahavis with two, Aston Viñuela and local club Calahonda. Strict anti-Covid restrictions and rulings were in place as Malaga B and Sporting Benahavis got Group A underway and this match turned out to be the benchmark for the opening games with plenty of action but no goals. Next up old rivals Aston Viñuela and Malaga A played out a hard fought game as always but failed to score. Malaga A were first to break the deadlock with Mr Goals Ian Salt scoring a hat trick against Sporting Benahavis in a 3-0 win. And it was that man Salt who was on target again in the 3-0 ‘derby’ match win against Malaga B to take the A team into the Final where they awaited the Group C winners. Group C also started goalless when local club Calahonda playing their first ever competitive game were held by Atleti-

With the incentive that it was a ‘derby’ against their A team in the Final Malaga C quickly set about getting the important first goal, but were stung when Atletico Benahavis counter attacked and took the lead. They increased their lead to 2-0 before killing the match with a third to win 3-0 and progress to the Final. Atletico started the game confidently, having like Maaga A, not conceded a goal in their group matches but there were to be no shocks and Malaga A took the BAHA Irish Whiskey Trophy coasting to ab 8-0 win ending the day with Ian Salt top scorer having scored nine of Malaga’s 14 goals. Probably the most disappointed manager was Steve Mausham whose Aston Viñuela failed to live up to pretournament favourites. Steve said they had made a few changes and the new players hadn’t settled in yet. Calahonda were reasonably happy at two games without conceding a goal but will have to sharpen up in front if they want to record their first walking football win. Altogether an excellent get together for the League clubs and a lead into similar mini tournaments to keep up fitness levels. The Cornish Bakehouse have offered to sponsor the next mini tournament and will provide a trophy and a prize. This will probably take place in October depending on the Covid situation. Finally a big thank you to Gray Salt who put the whole show together and went to great pains to ensure that the anti-Covid and social distancing measures were adhered to.
