THE Balearic government is set to continue imposing new restrictions to contain a second wave of Covid-19, regional president Francina Armengol has made crystal clear. “ We are talking about difficult decisions, which nobody likes and which demand sacrifices by residents, businesses and workers,” Armengol said in her address to the Balearic Island parliament on Tuesday to report on the current pandemic situation on the archipelago and the health and economic consequences. “But we also know that they produce results and will mean that we stop the virus earlier and will return to nor mality more quickly,” she added. Tr u e t o h e r w o r d o n her administration’s commitment to implementing the measures they believe necessary, Armengol announced that tighter restrictions will come into force in the Arquitecte Bennasar avenue area of Palma this Friday, as well as in the two areas of Ibiza worst affected by Covid-19: Sant Antoni and Vila. They include restricting people from moving outside their area without a justified reason, like getting to work, school or a medical appointment, and limiting family and social gatherings to a maximum of five people. Armengol insisted
that there is a major difference between the current second wave of the virus and the situation the islands experienced during the first wave. “Now we are more p r e p a r e d . To d a y o u r health professionals know the illness better and how to treat it,” she told the regional parliament members. She also made the point that “we are now carrying out many more PCR tests, and it
is Health which looks for and finds many positive cases through tracing systems, which detect, from the total, 53 per cent of asymptomatic cases.” The regional government has 240 tracers,
plus a further 100 made available by the army. The behaviour of the public also explains the differences between the first and second waves, according to Armengol.
“Residents are showing once again that they know how to rise to the challenge, that they know to respond responsibly and face the virus by complying with the restrictions and protection measures,” she commented. To illustrate her point she highlighted an improvement in the health statistics in the previous few days, which reflect a levelling out in the new infection curve. Perseverance is crucial, she stressed. “This virus does not allow for relaxation, but nor does it allow for division; it forces us to act in full coordination,” she said, insisting that all decisions had been taken on the basis of dialogue between administrations, political groups and social and economic agents. “ We a r e c l e a r t h a t the fight against Covid-19 is not only a question for the Health department or for the regional gover nment. It is everyone’s responsibility.”

Perfume thieves sniffed out GUARDIA CIVIL has arrested three women suspected of carrying out a whole series of robberies from perfume shops and supermarkets in Calvia and Andratx. The detention of the trio came after a perfumery in Andratx reported that two
customers had hurried their way out of the shop without joining the queue to pay, and had completely ignored calls from the shop assistant. They then jumped into a waiting vehicle driven by a third woman and sped off in the Palma direction.
The shop assistant immediately informed the Guardia Civil about what had happened, telling officers she suspected the women had stolen items from the establishment. Footage from the shop’s security cameras confirmed the employee’s suspicions. It showed the pair had gone in with backpacks, into which they stuffed items from the display shelves. A Calvia Public Safety patrol intercepted the women’s vehicle on the motorway. When officers searched the vehicle they found a whole bunch of stuff from the perfumery, as well as various sorts of food products which the Guardia said had been nicked from a number of Calvia supermarkets. The investigative team looking into the incident analysed similar reported crimes and determined that the three detainees could have been responsible for 20 or so other robberies in the two localities.

Remembering the VICTIMS MANACOR has unveiled a Tree of Memory to honour victims of the dictatorship. The Balearic government’s Democratic Memory and Good Government department, in collaboration with Manacor Council, inaugurated the tree at the old cemetery on Sunday in a tribute to the hundreds of people who died in 1936 at the hands of the Franco regime. The gesture is part of a plan by the Balearic administration to mark significant locations through trees of memory at burial sites in Mallorca, Ibiza, Manacor and Formentera. This applies whether it is has been possible to exhume and recover the remains of the victims and where it is not technically viable. Among those attending the act were the Democratic Memory and Good Government autonomous secretary Jesus Jurado, the director general of Democratic Memory Marc Herrera and Manacor Activities and General Services councillor Carles Grimalt.

The Mallorca 312 is not the only big event on the island’s annual sporting calendar to be called off due to the pandemic this year. In May the organisers of the prestigious Copa del Rey sailing regatta announced the 39th edition was being postponed due to the health crisis. One of the biggest sailing competitions in the world, the regatta will not now take place until next summer.

Press also reported he would be scuba diving, potholing and mountain biking. What is definite is that the epidemiologist was absent from Monday’s Covid-19 updates press conference. It was instead the Secretary of State for Health Silvia Cazon who appeared before the cameras to talk about the latest figures and the current pandemic situation. Responding to a question about Simon’s absence, the secretary of state did not mention the Mallorca jaunt, but said he was “enjoying a well-deserved break.”
THE Balearic government has stepped up restrictions to try and stop the spread of Covid-19. Regional Health and Consumer minister Patricia Gomez announced last Friday a new resolution extending and expanding limitations the administration implemented on August 28, which came into force on Saturday initially for a period of 15 days. Gomez said the main aim is to protect the public as the new school year gets underway. “We are in the second wave,” she commented. “It is a tricky time and we have to do everything possible to protect people’s health. We want to flatten the curve of contagions and admissions. “The start of term, the arrival of autumn and the evolution of the pandemic put us on our guard even more,” Gomez added. The measures include the closure of all public openair children’s play areas, with the exception of spaces used by schools for teaching activities. Activities in children’s play establishments are also suspended and children’s leisure activities have been limited. Where sports are concerned the resolution establishes that the type of space and the kind of activity will have to be taken into account. For indoor sports activities there has to be four metres between people and there is a venue maximum capacity limit of 50 per cent. The 50 per cent limit applies to gyms too. Cinemas, theatres and auditoriums are also restricted to half of their capacity. The public must pre-reserve their seats and must wear face masks. Public fiestas and festivities and popular dances are prohibited.
Break-ins arrest A STRING of holiday home break-ins in Pollensa in the last few months have led to an arrest. Guardia Civil have detained a 27-year-old suspected of carrying out at least 13 robberies from holiday properties in the locality. Reports of the break-ins revealed that in most cases the circumstances were of a similar nature. The occupants had gone out to the beach or elsewhere, getting back to find that someone had forced open a door or window to get in. Once inside the thief had pocketed jewellery, cash and electronic devices. The investigators concentrated their efforts on tracking down the stolen jewellery and on talking to local residents. The result was the identification of the suspect, who according to the Guardia is a known offender in the area with an extensive criminal record. When officers located the 27-year-old they also seized several items of jewellery which had just recently been nicked and also a set of wireless headphones, which had also been reported stolen. The Guardia recovered belongings worth some €5,000 in total, which they have since returned to the rightful owners. A judge ordered the detainee to be held in prison awaiting trial.

Residency help NATIONAL charity Age in Spain has helped over 8,000 Brits with online and one-to-one information and support in the first three months of its Resid e n c y H e l p l i n e P ro ject. Thousands have used the Residency Helpline website for its accessible and accurate information on residency issues and resources. The Residency Helpline volunteers and staff have provided some 280 individuals with direct one-to-one support tailored to their specific circumstances by phone or email. They have also directly supported the applications of nearly 180 Brits applying for residency for the first time or exchanging their residency document for the new TIE, the foreigners’ identity card for UK citizens in Spain. Hazel, a British woman in her 50’s who lives in Catalonia, was one person who successfully applied for the TIE. “I found the guidance and support I received from Age in Spain to be invaluable when I was

She also had issues with registering for the ‘padron,’ a council’s list of local residents, and with her old residency certificate. “After talking with Age in Spain I was able to present the right infor mation and go through the process
quickly and easily, with a positive result at the end,” she reported. Sarah, who retired to Spain some years ago, also needed help as she doesn’t have an email address and couldn’t access the appropriate for ms and book an appointment. “I’ve been living in Spain for years and never had to worry about any of this stuff. Age in Spain helped me to understand the process and they sent me the for ms,” said Sarah. The Residency Helpline was set up with financial support from the UK’s Foreign, Com-
monwealth and Development Office through the UK National Support Fund. “This service is helping to reach the most vulnerable people, who through no fault of their own, need help to sort out their residency,” commented Project Director Helen Weir. “Our service is free, confidential and makes a real difference, so that when the transition period of the UK leaving the EU finishes, all British nationals in Spain can take advantage of the Withdrawal agreement to protect their rights as residents of Spain.” The Helpline covers all of Spain, with an outreach service for people who need extra support in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. The charity is currently recruiting volunteers to do home visits to assist those who need extra support with booking appointments online, filling out for ms and getting paperwork ready for their appointments. Crossed fingers MALLORCA’S hotels are crossing their fingers for the possibility of air corridors between the island and its two main international tourist markets, the UK and Germany, once Covid-19 rates on the island fall. The UK is taking a more targeted approach to travel restrictions, separately analysing the Covid-19 situation in countries’ mainland territories and islands. Germany has announced it will be introducing more focused travel warnings from the beginning of October. “It would be very useful and very welcome,” the FEHM Mallorca Hotel Company Federation vice-president Maria Jose Aguilo commented on the possibility of a safe corridor between the island and the UK. “I wish that it could be followed by the opening of a new safe corridor with Germany, which is a really important market for us during low season,” Aguilo added. Speaking in an FEHM video, Aguilo revealed that at the beginning of September around 230 of its member establishments were open, representing just 28 per cent of the total. Palma has the most hotels open for business she revealed, followed by Playa de Palma, Cala d’Or, Pollensa and Muro The FEHM spokesperson said it was impossible to compare the current situation with

THE €750,000 renovation project for Mallorca’s historic Bellver Castle is moving forward. Palma City Council has now approved the bid specifications for the works on the 14th century structure, which is one of the island’s most popular tourist attractions. The need to carry out the renovations stem mainly from problems related to rainwater drainage along
the castle perimeter and which studies have shown have been caused by stone paving put down some 40 years ago. Palma Council explained that rain is filtering down into the subsoil, but not evaporating. As a result the water accumulates and creates bags of air underground, which could trigger off the collapse of a wall. The project will mean taking up the paving, com-
pacting the earth, levelling out the ground and repaving it in such a way that water does not build up. The city authority said the works will get going when all the necessary administrative procedures have been completed, which it expects to be around the end of this year. The works will last for about 12 months, but the monument will remain open to the public throughout.

We believe in serving only the freshest, most zestful food to the homeless,” said Steven. “We don’t use past ‘sell-by date’ foods from supermarkets because we believe the homeless have suffered enough and should have proper diet and nutrition.” As EWN went to press, Steven was preparing 40 dishes of pasta salad to give to the homeless from a designated distribution point. “This will be the first distribution so we don’t really know how many people will come, but we are getting the word out there,” said Arne. Project Costa’s Facebook page already has 293 followers and is approaching 300 likes. “This means we’re clearly not the only ones who want to
change the world,” posted Soeten. “Project Costa seeks to inspire people, wherever they are, by showing how much small acts of love, kindness and compassion mean to a person in need. “It may be by hugging someone who rarely receives affection, or inviting an elderly or lonely neighbour for dinner, or giving a homeless man a pair of new socks, helping lift a pram off the bus, or carrying the shopping for a stranger who is struggling. “It doesn’t matter what we do, how we do it or where we do it, as long as we do it. Let’s just do it. Political Viewpoint from Spain by DAMON MITCHELL THE pandemic is on the rise both in Spain and the UK. Both countries have reported over the last few days the highest number of positive cases since March, which in turn inflicts more restrictions on our lives. Both Boris Johnson and Pedro Sanchez, even though from opposite sides of the political spectrum, have a very similar route, trying to shape our ideas, mainly through propaganda.

Who’s Right or Wrong?
Generally, both societies are scared but the difference between March and now can be seen in how the public is reacting in a very similar way.It seems that they have been divided into two major groups; the sceptics and the government mainstream followers. The first are scared because their fundamental rights are being cut by a wave of regulations which they consider scientifically questionable and the second are
scared by the virus and believe that the trusted institutions know best how to protect our lives. An end to the pandemic doesn’t seem to be in sight and the only options at the moment seem to be the vaccine or zero cases reported. Although there are claims that we will have the vaccine by 2021, it took many years to develop other types of jabs and the flu vaccine is only 40 to 60 per cent successful. On the other hand, PCR tests are also not reliable as they detect a protein in blood which gives many false positives and negatives. Therefore, the question arises, should tests to detect new infections be stopped? The main national media and broadcasting organisations in both countries have also con-

No to elbows TOO CLOSE: Greetings should be avoided.
THE ‘elbow bump’ is a gesture that has become one of the images of the pandemic. Due to the danger posed by shaking someone’s hand in case of transmitting the virus. However, the WHO has now said they feel it should be avoided as it can also be unsafe. The moment we meet someone we know and haven’t seen for a long time, the tendency is natural, the body almost leans towards the other person. According to experts, a smile - even if disguised by a mask - should be enough to say ‘hello’ to someone.
It’s not just kisses, hugs or even a friendly nudge the new greeting created during the pandemic, the widely adopted ‘elbow bump’ is now to be avoided. We see it everywhere, on the street, on television, but, according to the director of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, it is not advisable. So, how should we greet each other? The WHO director suggests holding your hand on your heart, always keeping a distance of at least 1.5 metres in relation to another person.
Hate crime arrest POSTING jibes on social media about the injuries a policeman suffered when a drug trafficker rammed his vehicle has landed a 21-year-old from El Ejido in trouble with the law. Police have arrested the young man for slander and inciting hate against law enforcement and security forces and State institutions for his online comments. The post praised the drug dealer and cruelly mocked the police inspector, who was seriously hurt when the criminal drove a 4x4 loaded with bundles of hashish into his car in Algeciras earlier this month. Police launched an investigation into the author of the post the day it was published, and within 48 hours they had identified and detained him. According to police the 21-year-old is a sympathiser of radical, extreme right groups located in Almeria.

Two week Update STERLING had a good month in August, outperforming the euro due to sustained rallies that saw the pound rise 0.75% against the central currency. As autumn arrives though, there are signs that sterling may not hold on to these gains as it dipped against other majors after renewed Brexit talks met a sticky impasse. The markets took the view that the risk of no deal on these trade talks has increased, which in turn has raised the spectre of additional interest rate cuts or quantitative easing from the Bank of England. The UK government looks to be preparing to reverse parts of the Withdrawal Agreement protocols on Northern Ireland in the event of a no deal, and while in reality this may be another bargaining chip, talks have seriously escalated as the EU has threatened the UK government with legal action if it doesn’t ditch its Internal Market Bill.
The European Central Bank has taken centre stage for the euro’s movements, and ahead of the Governing Council meeting, the Chief Economist Philip Lane, indicated that the value of the euro, specifically against the US dollar, would be a factor in policy setting decisions. There had also been a surprise return to deflation in the August Euroland consumer price inflation figures. So the markets thought that the ECB’s inflation forecast would be revised down, if only a little, given the concerns expressed and the data surprise. The ECB pulled a surprise though. Despite the statement, which highlighted risks to growth and prices from the recent upsurge in new Covid infections across Europe, the ECB’s forecasts revised up the inflation reading for 2021, whilst at the same time suggesting GDP would fall less in 2020, but grow more slowly in 2021 and 2022. The US equity markets turn lower de-
spite a shortened week due to the Labour Day holiday. The equity markets have still managed to shed between 2.1% (Dow Jones) and 3.4% (NASDAQ) from last week’s close, which prompted some retrenchment into safe havens, offering the US Treasuries market some support along with the US dollar. The dollar continues to struggle to make sustained headway, with political and diplomatic headaches, such as with China, prompting ongoing uncertainty. Data and surveys are also not providing consistent clues regarding the speed of recovery, with the latest week claimant count figures failing to make any additional progress, and claims continuing to rise in the week ending August 29. Sure enough the Bank of Canada meeting wasn’t expected to result in a rate cut, and it stood still on rates and all other monetary loosening. The statement accompanying the decision was

Ukraine and Spain THE governments of Ukraine and Spain held a formal meeting to discuss areas of economic cooperation and how to expand their relationship. In the first six months of the year, total trade between the two countries amounted to just under €1 billion with the Ukraine taking the lion’s share at €700 million. Although it does have reasonable reserves of natural gas, the Ukraine lost a huge amount when Russia annexed the Crimea and is now looking to increase energy efficiency at which Spain has developed significant expertise.

French taxes warning FRANCE has accused the United States of seeking to undermine inter national talks to update crossborder taxation for the digital age (Google tax) and urged Europe to prepare an EU tax if the negotiations fail. It is understood that almost 140 countries are discussing and negotiat ing the first major rewrite of interna tional tax rules in a generation to ac count for the rise of huge digital companies such as Amazon, Facebook and Google, all of which are American. They were expecting the Organisa tion for Economic Cooperation and
Development (OECD) to come to a de cision within a few weeks so that new rules will apply in 2021, but the likeli hood of achieving this appears to be slight. European confidence was dented when Washington asked for a pause in the talks earlier this year as it be lieves there is room for a voluntary role for American companies. “It’s very clear, the United States don’t want a digital tax (deal) at the OECD. So, they are making obstacles which prevent us from reaching an agreement even though the technical

work is done,” French Finance Minis ter Bruno Le Maire told journalists. Even the EU isn’t completely uni fied on this matter as some countries including Holland and Ireland have benefited from the giants switching profits by setting up accounting of fices in these countries where tax is lower than in other member states. France decided to go ahead and tax American Corporate giants before a final agreement was reached, but America has retaliated with some swingeing tariff charges for French ex ports.

Record online purchase SWEDISH investment group EQT IX fund is spending €1.3 billion to take over Spanish real estate portal idealista which is said to be the largest ever transaction in Spain involving the purchase of an online company. EQT will hold 85 per cent of the equity with the balance re maining in the hands of ideal ista’s management team, includ ing founder and CEO Jesús Encinar, who will continue to lead the company. Founded in 2000 and head quartered in Madrid, idealista supports approximately 40,000 real estate agents and has 38 million unique monthly visitors across southern Europe.
US Trade Deal doubts Brexit amendment should not hurt the stability between the north and south. In a statement she said “The UK must respect the Northern Ireland Protocol as signed with the EU to ensure the free flow of goods
across the border. “If the UK violates that interna tional treaty and Brexit undermines the Good Friday accord, there will be absolutely no chance of a USUK trade agreement passing the Con gress.”
This is not necessarily an idle threat as although the Republicans have a small majority in the House of Congress, the Democrats have a larg er majority in the House of Repre sentatives, but this could all change in this November’s elections.

You’re being ‘gaslighted’
THIS week’s blurb has been partially drawn from the input provided by a member of my small band of faithful contributors to whom I shall be eternally grateful. It is for those of us consistently bamboozled by the pure guff put out by some of our main media outlets; those large numbers of reports that we know have almost no resemblance to actual events. Have no fear, you are not going crazy - you are being ‘Gaslighted’! Gaslighting is a form of brainwashing, aimed at controlling people by altering reality to a point where those targeted begin to doubt their own sanity. The term comes from a 1930’s play, where the main character drives his wife insane by slowly dimming the gas powered lights. When she notices the lights are dimming, he not only denies it, but convinces her it is her imagination to a point where she questions her own sanity. We are constantly being told by the media of situations which are at complete odds with what we are seeing with our own eyes. We see disruption and rioting and are told it is peaceful protesting. We see murderers running amok and

Particularly over the last 12 months, we have seen a positive tsunami of non-white actors and mixed marriages utterly disproportionately featured on almost 90 per cent of our TV advertising, and are informed that black actors and artists are still being discriminated against. We are told that integration and di-
versity is working, yet we witness whole towns being taken over by foreign cultures. We observe areas of our cities being terrorised by non-white gangs and are told it is the fault of the police. You spend your life trying to treat all individuals as equals and abhor racism, but are told you are a privileged racist purely because of the colour of your skin. You know you are not and that the accusation in itself is racist, but when
you try to defend yourself, you are told that your defence is proof of your racism. You are told you live in an environment of true freedom of speech, yet when you speak out you are accused of bigotry and discrimination. Worry not. You are not losing your minds. Crazy people don’t question their sanity. These media perpetrators deal in lies and psychological coercion. What their ultimate aims are is utterly beyond my comprehension. What I do know however is that we have to believe the evidence of our own eyes. Trust your own observations; believe what you perceive as the truth. You’re not crazy. You’re being Gaslighted. My friends continually ask how things are here and I have to tell them it’s not that bad. The Spanish government seem to be handling it so much better than the UK government who just seem to keep making the most ridiculous rules. New rules for England came into force on September 14 banning people from gathering in groups of more than six. But there are exceptions to the rule - such as people being allowed to meet in bigger
groups at work, in school and for weddings and funerals. The problem with all this is how do you police it? I read over the weekend that some bloke got fined 10 grand for throwing a big party. They might as well have fined him a million pounds because I bet there is absolutely no chance of him paying it. The dairy section of your favourite supermarket carries an array of ‘milk’ options: whole, reduced-fat, low-fat, fatfree, lactose-free, almond, soya, coconut and more. If you are looking for a liquid to pour on top of your cereal you have plenty of options. But are they all milk? No absolutely not! Because there is no such thing as soya milk. It’s soya juice. The same goes for almond, coconut, hemp, rice, cashew, hazelnut, and oat. Milk comes from mammals and there are no lactating almonds. I looked and have not seen any way to ‘milk’ any of these items. How did we ever cope? When we were much younger we went to a cafe or, if you were posh, a Lyons corner house. Remember them? You would order your tea or coffee and it came with either milk in it or maybe in a small jug. Lactose intolerance wasn’t invented yet. What happened? When did it all start?

AS of Monday, September 14, the UK has been under some new regulations with regard to the Covid virus. The most controversial being the dreaded ‘rule of six,’ which means that any social gatherings of more than six people will be against the law, apart from certain exemptions like work and education. Authorities will be able to dish out fines ranging from £100 to a whopping £3,200. But where on earth did they get this number from, six, why six people? Is it because they worked out the size of a normal place people would congregate and calculated that if they were all to be two metres apart they could only fit six people in there or was it just plucked from the sky? Another random number that dropped into headlines recently was eight, a reduction to eight days quarantine. That sounded a bit better and am sure would have made some people think that the UK government were moving forward. However, it seems to have been erased from their minds as quickly as it was suggested. It seems that there are also different rules throughout the UK just to make it even harder to understand. In Scotland, up to eight people from three households can meet indoors, up to six from two households in Northern Ireland and in Wales, up to four households can form an ‘extended household.’ Do that many households actually spend time with each other? Also, it is said six cannot go to the supermarket together, is that something that happens? That’s a lot of people going shopping. Anyway, some kind of activity is better than no activity and we can only hope they know what they are doing. It’s not going to be a very good family Christmas for some people.

No faith Dear Leapy, Although I’m not British, I am your fan. I have been following/reading your articles in Euro Weekly News in Spain for some two years, ever since we bought an apartment on the Costa del Sol. In fact, that paper would be totally worthless if it weren’t for your articles in which there used to be some reflection of reality and not just the official narrative ******** like in the rest. However, I’ve noticed that you have become uncritical, especially with this new medical tyranny that is present in a severe form in Spain. But you must have seen clips on social media involving police abuse of those not wearing a mask. I had a similar ‘experience’ where I was sitting with my husband on the bench in the main square and I was talking on the phone. While seated and talking I removed the mask. And then two bullies of the police approached us, treating me like a criminal. The worse one of the two grabbed my phone from me even though by then I duly put my mask on. RCD Mallorca players need “more faith,” new manager Luis Garcia Plaza said after the side’s season opener defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon. The 0-1 result at the Visit Mallorca Estadi stadium thanks to the Madrid side’s second half goal was clearly a disappointment for Garcia Plaza. The fixture marked his competitive debut as the football team’s manager as well as the beginning of RCD Mallorca’s Segunda Division campaign and fight to get back up in Spain’s premier La Liga league. “In the first half we knew we were going to be under pressure. We were superior in the first half, but after the goal we dropped a little,” he admitted. “We have to have a lot more faith and mental maturity. We have to believe and know how to play that kind of football. “In the second half they scored and we ceased to have faith. They protested everything, without saying it’s wrong. We have to get into that dynamic to improve. It’s not just with little steps that we’re going to be able to win.
DISAPPOINTMENT: The match marked Luis Garcia Plaza’s competitive debut as the football team’s manager. “In the first half we were missing some players being finely tuned. New signing RCD Mallorca has signed Cadiz CF left-back Brian Olivan for the next two seasons after reaching an agreement on the transfer with the Andalucia club. The 26-year-old football player has extensive experience in the Second Division, having played 76 matches, mainly with Cadiz CF and with Girona in the last season. His debut in the category was in the 20142015 season with Real Valladolid at the age of 20. “I’m thankful to the manager for having put his trust in me. I’m coming to a historic club nationally and I look forward to becoming a part of this ambitious project the club has,” Olivan said. “I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and put on the shirt. It’s a complex and difficult league to be in, but I’m going to give my all to help achieve our goals.” The left-back said his main objective is to see the Balearic side promoted back to the top division. “The First Division is where a club like RCD Mallorca needs to be,” according to Olivan. “On top of that, I hope it will be a beautiful year for us and one with plenty of challenges which I have put ahead for myself. I will try to help the team the best I can, and as I said, attempt to achieve our goals.”
