THE Covid-19 Monitoring Committee in the Region of Murcia has agreed for a limit to be placed on social gatherings within the Murcian region, with both public and private gatherings set to be affected. Manuel Villegas, the Minister of Health, made the announcement at a press conference on Monday, August 24, stating that due to heightened worry and concern due to rises in Covid-19 cases in the region, “the maximum number of people, who are not living tog e t h e r, w h o [ w a n t t o a t tend] private homes or [be] in terraces and restaurants is

to be reduced from 10 to six, throughout the Region of Murcia.” A main source of outbreaks currently are large social gatherings such as; weddings, baptisms and communions, this is according to Villegas and the Monitoring Committee, who have recommended that these events should also be limited to a maximum of 30 people. These additional social distancing measures came into force yesterday, August 26.

BENIDORM associations behind Sunday’s peaceful protest demanding ‘respect and justice’ for the local tourism sector are calling for an ‘urgent’ meeting with Spain’s PM and the president of the Valencian Community. Representatives from the business associations Abreca-Cobreca (restoration), Avibe (travel agencies), Ociobal (nightlife and dance halls), Aptur (tourist apartments), the Association of Campsites of Benidorm and Aico (trade and self-employed) organised the demonstration which was attended by more than 1,000 people. And today, they have requested “as a matter of urgency,” a working meeting with Pedro Sanchez and Ximo Puig. The objective “is to ask the State’s public administrations for “respect and justice for the national tourism sector and Benidorm in particular,” said the associations in a statement. They want to see a manifesto read publicly relating to “social, labour and economic matters,” implemented immediately, “in order to ensure the survival in the short and medium term of the business fabric of all sectors mentioned.” The statement continued “All the members of the boards of direc-

Multi-sports in Murcia
THREE new areas incorporating multi-sports courts, with football goals and basketball nets, will be a welcomed addition in the Murcian district of El Palmar. The city council, in a project that has been promoted by the Municipal Board, has allocated a cash injection of €55,322 towards these new sports areas, an action that will directly benefit the 24,400 residents of El Palmar. The mayor, José Ballesta, stated, “Improving public spaces in the neighbourhoods and districts of Murcia is a priority for the city council.” The new areas are located in La Paz Park and the gardens of Calles Gabriel Luján Caballero and Cronista Carlos Valcárcel. José Ballesta concluded by saying, these “new spaces for practising outdoor sports are open to families in the district.”

MONEY FOR TOURISM: Four grants awarded in Orihuela. ORIHUELA CITY COUNCIL has received four grants from the Turisme Generalitat Valenciana which will help with the continued revamp within the tourism sector of Orihuela. Mariola Rocamora, the councillor for Tourism and Festivities, alongside the councillor for Resident Security and Beaches, Ramón López, announced the grants on Monday, August 24, with the largest subsidy of €50,000 going towards the Local Police service, to improve “competitiveness and seasonal adjustment of tourist destinations, support for the provision of tourist services and for the surveillance of beaches,” explained Ramón López. He continued to identify the reason for
the investment in the Local Police, stating they needed to be “allocated to various actions aimed primarily at the attention of residents and thousands of tourists who come to our beaches daily throughout summer.” The money would be put towards, “bike patrols on the beach, as well as the maritime patrol made up of two officers on jet skis and the Tourist Police in charge of informing and attending to the residents from our detachment,” Romón Lopez explained. The remaining grants have been awarded for the monitoring of the Q Mark for Tourism Quality, for the continued development of the Orihuela Mobile App and the promotional brochure for Holy Week in Orihuela.

Choir Concert Planned Second Pharmacy in Gran Alacant CRESCENDO INTERNATIONAL CHOIR plans to give a concert at Salt Church, an evangelical English-speaking church in Los Montesinos, in December. The choir is a mixed vocal group configured as a musical project of a social nature, holding concerts for the purpose of fundraising for local charities. Since its inception, their events have raised thousands of euros for different social aims. Crescendo held a successful concert at Salt Church last November which raised over €1,100 for the Red Cross to give to victims of the flooding in the Vega Baja region. There are many Crescendo members who believe that music is an engine for social change. There are also many who believe the choir is a great way to enjoy music and that each concert is an uplifting way to support others in the community, especially in what has been such a difficult year for most.

THE much-anticipated opening of a second pharmacy in Gran Alacant has been met with enthusiasm from local residents. Gran Alacant, which has a population of around 9,000 residents, has previously had only one pharmacy in operation meaning large
queues and long waiting times. The opening of the second pharmacy, which is located next to the Consum in the local Commercial Centre, will hopefully alleviate some of the pressure on the original pharmacy which experienced extremely busy periods
Lagoons Turning Pink Again THE iconic pink lagoons in Torrevieja are finally returning to their normal colour following the horrendous damage caused by the Gota Fria last September. Following those severe and heavy rainfalls, and with further bad storms in January, there were concerns that the famous pink lagoons would never return to their glorious state, following the contribution of fresh water and the proliferation of algae. Thankfully, the hot temperatures during July and August, has seen an increase in salinity of the lagoons, with algae reducing and microorganisms that favour the characteristic pink colour, returning.

ASD Care in Torrevieja GREAT news for children suffering with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as new consultation care is now being offered in Torrevieja. Up until now, families within Torrevieja were having to travel as far as Elche in order to carry out these consultation sessions, but thankfully, Torrevieja Salud has launched the initiative in their San Luis de Torrevieja Health Centre
meaning they don’t have to travel far. The diagnosis of children with ASD must be early, finding signs even before one year of age. An early diagnosis makes it possible to start the intervention earlier, which leads to a better prognosis for the child. The Torrevieja health department is currently working with about 50 children, between the ages of two and seven years old.

Job furlough extension talks GOVERNMENT, business leaders and trade union representatives are set to sit down next month to talk about a new extension to Spain’s ERTE job furlough scheme, according to Spanish media. The press reports that Employment and Social Security ministers Yolanda Diaz and Jose Luis Escriva will meet with the CEOE Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations head Antonio Garamendi and union members in Mallorca capital Palma on September 4 to discuss the possibility of extending the scheme. As it stands, the temporary aid financial scheme to cover the lost earnings of employees whose job contracts have been temporarily suspended due to the

NO FINAL DATE: “The pandemic is indefinite; right now we don’t know when it’s going to end,” the UGT union leader pointed out. Covid-19 crisis is due to end on September 30. Garamendi expressed the view in a recent interview with the El Pais newspaper that the furlough scheme should run until at least December. “What they have to say is how much money there is and until when it will reach, because it is already negotiated,” the
CEOE president affirmed. UGT union secretary general Pepe Alvarez has also indicated that even if everyone is not exactly on the same page on the issue, then there is the “beginning of an agreement.” Alvarez told La Sexta Spanish TVE, Mallorca has been chosen as the meeting venue precisely because its tourist sector has
been so severely hit by the pandemic situation and because so many of the island’s workers have been furloughed. He described an extension as “absolutely essential” for the Spanish economy and its companies, and said there should be no end date. “The pandemic is indefinite; right now we don’t know when it’s going to end,” he commented. He also wants the conversations to look at the issue of how much furloughed employees receive, making it clear one of the necessary conditions for reaching an agreement as far as the UGT is concerned is keeping the current amounts in place. The last extension to the ERTE agreed at the end of June followed a series of meetings and some tough negotiations. According to the UGT leader there are currently 700,000 workers on ERTEs.

Animal Protection Unit AN online petition has been launched by the Association of Feral Animals of Orihuela after the number of stray animals and animals suffering abuse has risen in the municipality. The President of the Association, Concha Bernal, has some big plans for any donation money they receive, explaining that aside from the Animal Protection Unit, they also plan to spread animal awareness among schools in the local area. “Educational work is very important, so we will hold workshops in schools and institutes to educate the children who are involved in the care of animals," said Bernal. The charity is only two years old but it is looking to make a difference, and if you would like to help with the creation of an Animal Protection Unit then visit their donation page.
Patron Saints Festivities SANTA POLA City Council are determined to keep the festivities alive with a magazine and programme planned for this year’s Patron Saints Festival, despite restrictions due to Covid-19. The launch of ‘Santa Pola: Festes Patronals 2020,’ a festive magazine giving a brief historical overview of this unprecedented year, includes collaborations from columnists, photographers and designers in order to shape this unique publication. Inside the magazine, the collaborators discuss the impact the virus has had and give an overview of the world during the pandemic, recommending positive ways to
live in this current climate as well as cultural articles. It discusses the creation and subsequent restoration of the first altarpiece of the Patron Saint the Virgin of Loreto burned in 1936 as well as reflections of different personalities of Santa Pola social life. In addition to the magazine, a series of activities are programmed to take place in the first week of September. On September 7, the offering to the Patron can be made between 10am and 10pm to avoid crowds. Similarly, for the same reason, on September 8 from midday to 10.00pm, the procession of the Virgin of Loreto will be available.

Beach Ashtrays CAMPAIGN: Initiative launched to stop cigarette butts on the beach.
THE Department of Beaches, in collaboration with Hidraqua, have launched the environmental campaign ‘The Beach Is Not an Ashtray,’ in which health officers, beach assistants and civil protection volunteers will distribute ecological ashtrays in order to reduce cigarette butts on our beaches. In a 2017 report by the NGO Ocean Conservancy, it is indicated that cigarette butts accounted for 13 per cent of the total number of wastes collected in its global envi-
ronmental campaign. The environmental report also stated that every year six billion cigarettes are smoked around the world and, of these, 4.5 billion are deposited in public spaces, which can travel thousands of kilometres and contaminate different ecosystems, including the oceans. Aside from the environmental impacts, the ashtrays are being distributed among users of the beaches to help in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.

Beautiful Smile SAD news from Vega Baja, as the community, loved ones and HELP Vega Baja mourn the loss of Sheila Rowlands, a great friend and long-time volunteer to the charity, who passed away on August 8. Michele Masson, who is the President of HELP Vega Baja, remembers Sheila fondly, “Although known as one of our Hospital Visiting Team, Sheila was always at the end of the phone when we needed someone to help out. I remember at meetings when we would be pulling together the rota for the upcoming three months, hands would go up and inevitably there would be gaps where noone could cover... without fail you would hear this voice from the end of the table “I will do it!” Sheila was beloved by everyone and was always looking to support those less fortunate in the community. She also wanted to

New Vehicles Added to the Force
INVESTMENT: New patrol cars and motorcycles have been added to the fleet. EIGHT new patrol cars and four new motorcycles have been added to the
fleet, with the mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana, assuring residents that “our objective as a government team is to continue providing better resources to the Local Police, as we did in the previous legislature, and as we continue to do in this one.” He concluded, “it is essential that our officers can perform their role in the best possible way, especially in the circumstances that we have experienced
and are experiencing lately.” The extra addition of police vehicles, which have been rented over a fouryear contract, are set to cost the council €577,873. The councillor of Resident Security, Ramón López, “we already have five of the eight vehicles, to which we must add four motorcycles, thus fulfilling our intention to improve the resources available to our Local Police.”

FINES: Local Police in Valencia issued the restaurant in Valencia with three fines for the delivery of food during lockdown. A R E S TA U R A N T I N Va l e n c i a h a s been fined a total of €4,200 delivering food to the needy during lockdown. The premises, owned by Javier Márquez, first received two fines of €600 from the Local Police of Valencia, and finally a third that amounted to €3,000 for giving food to those ‘without resources,’ according to Las Provincias. Márquez defended his actions saying it was covered under a legal text (RD 463/20, article 10 section 4) which states ‘hotel and restaurant activities are suspended, and only home deliv-
ery services can be provided.’ He told the publication he had distributed the food through two associations, Brúfol and Espai Veïnal Cabanyal, and that the premises only remained open to prepare meals and as a collection centre “without violating any rule.” “One person from each family came, keeping a safe distance. All of us wore protection,” said Márquez, claiming police officers said they would do everything possible “to close us down.” The owner and volunteers involved have refused to pay the fines.

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy has died in an urbanisation swimming pool after resuscitation effort failed to save him. The pool, located in the Camposol urbanisation in Mazarrón, was the scene of a tragic accident in which another toddler lost their short life in a swimming pool. According to the Emergency Coordination Centre website, an emergency team was sent to the scene after being alerted that a boy was floating in

DEPUTY MAYOR and councillor of Health, Manuel Padín, has reiterated the importance of controlling the mosquito problem in the coastal areas of Mar Menor as the situation worsens. Control measures are part of the Shock Plan launched by the Department of Decentralisation, and in the fifth and final round of action, following four months of work throughout the municipalities, are set to finish this week. Increased water levels, especially in unusual areas along the coastline, have apparently contributed to this year’s increase of infested Mar Menor coastlines, although the Covid-19 crisis has most likely affected plans for normal control measures. The company charged with leading the attack against the mosquitoes has detected new outbreaks and implemented the necessary treatments. The Shock Plan, once completed, will continue with regular disinfection works, door-to-door visits informing residents of areas where outbreaks are detected and advising residents on actions that can prevent the mosquitoes, especially the tiger mosquito, from returning.

VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS DURING the latest meeting of the Covid Monitoring Committee last week, the Murcian regional government has taken the decision to limit the number of people allowed in vehicles, who do not live together, by 50 per cent. The new enforcement applies to those from separate households and is a preventative measure designed to slow the new sudden spike in Covid-19 cases within the region. The decision was made after detecting “many contagions when travelling to the workplace,” said regional president, Fernando López Miras. The regional president explained, “For example, in a five-seater vehicle, only

three seats can be occupied.” This new measure aims to protect workers that have to travel in groups for work, with the agricultural sector experiencing more cases because of the close prox-
imity of work travel, and the new measures aim to ensure that those required to travel can socially distance from co-workers. It appears to indicate that some restrictions from Phase 2 of the de-escala-
tion process are returning. Both national and regional governments have been focusing on possible causes of new outbreaks and are returning to measures that appeared to work well previously.
Wedding guest Beach Curfew A WEDDING guest claims he has lost his job after attending a ceremony in Murcia recently, where the groom later tested positive for coronavirus. Ricardo Cortés, who was one of 200 guests invited to the ceremony, says he was sacked after telling the company he works for he had to quarantine for 14 days. He and other guests are reportedly being monitored by the Ministry of Health. Cortés told SER he has since denounced the company for ‘unfair dismissal,’ on the grounds he was fired for ‘going to a wedding in which the groom has tested positive.’ He is currently self isolating at home.
IN measures to control littering and prevent large social gatherings, Orihuela City Council has imposed a curfew to its beaches, following recent outbreaks of the Covid-19 virus. Access will be prohibited after 1am to prevent nightlife taking to the sand following recent closures of pubs and nightclubs. The curfew imposed by
Orihuela City Council will see beaches reopen at 7am. The council is preparing to announce the immediate effect of this new measure as fears of further Covid-19 outbreaks heighten. The Orihuela Local Police are set to ensure the compliance of the curfew to the beaches, with punishment to be enforced to those who do not comply with the rules.

GREEMENT: Ximo Puig and Jose Luis Escriva in the Generalitat Palace. VALENCIA will be one of the first of Spain’s autonomies to sign up to the minimum living wage. Following his meeting with Inclusion and Social Security minister Jose Luis Escriva, Valencia’s regional president Ximo Puig explained that this agreement would allow the Generalitat and the central government to work together in applying a measure introduced to combat social exclusion. Puig highlighted the
importance of co-governance in ensuring that “nobody gets left out” during the grave crisis caused by Covid-19. Talking to the Press after their meeting, the regional president and the minister emphasised their “harmony” and “level of understanding” in rolling out the social protection measure. The minimum living wage agreement should be signed before next year, Puig and Escriva agreed. “We are working to-
gether to provide the widest possible coverage for the people who most need help,” said Puig, stressing the importance of coordination between the Administrations. “The minimum living wage is extraordinarily positive and the Valencian Community is going to be one of the first autonomies that subscribes to an agreement that intends to be as efficacious and efficient as possible in its application.”
Prostitution Gang Arrested IN what will be viewed as a huge victory for the National Police, officers were able to rescue 10 women under the control of this gang, with up to eight arrests being made. The gang, which were also involved in drug trafficking and sexual assault, as well as prostitution, had a raid carried out on one of their establishments, and were brought to justice as part of an operation that began on August 7. Intel gathered from the operation led to the discovery of a building in the Murcia gardens, specifically in the Aljucer district, where activities of prostitution and drug sales were reported to be taking place. During a raid on the establishment, officers seized various drugs intended for distribution and sale, including; cocaine, marihuana and hashish. The owner of the establishment was also arrested as part of the successful operation, although the po-

Schools Set for September A MEETING was held between the management teams of the different educational centres and the Pilar de la Horadada City Council to analyse the guidelines issued by the Generalitat Valenciana concerning Covid-19, and to discuss different contingency plans as they pertain to all the educational centres. The school year is set to begin on September 7; however, parents have been asked to take into account the meeting scheduled for August 27, between the Central Government and the different Autonomous Communities in order to unify criteria, and discuss any possible delays to the proposed start date. Parents will be informed of all the necessary changes to the educational centres and of any specific measures being put in place. The Morning Classroom service will be cancelled as per preventive measures highlighted in the Covid-19 crisis meetings, with one of the main issues being how it will be possible to maintain adequate social distancing measures whilst

DARK nights in Murcia are set to get a little lighter, and more energy efficient, as savings and improvements continue to be made to lighting in Murcian districts. The city council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernisation of the Administration, led by José Guillén, continues with the work of modernising the public lighting in different streets and districts of the municipality, which will improve visibility and safety. The improvements are part of works framed within the Smart City strategy in the area of Energy Efficiency within the Murcia Smart City strategy. “We continue with these actions that, in addition to contributing to the fight against climate change and cleaner air, provide more security to our avenues by making them more visible, both for pedestrians and drivers who pass through them,” explains José Guillén. The city council has already installed 5,000 LED streetlights in Murcia in the last year, which will save €3.4 million and avoid the emission of 12 million kilos of CO2, in

RENOVATION: Murcia Garden gets major investment and upgrade. HUGE renovation works have begun in Murcia as the garden area of Antonio Martínez Guirao receives an expensive make-over. A total of 260 trees and four vegetable pergolas have been planted to provide shade for those that choose to enjoy the garden. This action is part of the Shadow Plan, which sees the installation of tents and pergolas with climbing plants, as well as the planting of large trees, to provide shade for residents to protect them from the sun. The renovation works which include; all furniture
within the garden, new children’s games, such as a sandbox, and a new mural that encourages local art, in Santiago and Zaraiche avenues, will cost around €140,310. The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, explained, “this green area, which aspires to become a ref-
erence family meeting point with activities for all ages, joins other healthy areas of the municipality, such as Murcia Río and Vía Verde.” Murcia are set to spend €1.3 million on the renovations to Murcian district gardens as part of the Renace Plan.
Man Dies on Santa Pola Beach TRAGIC news from a beach in Santa Pola,
as lifeguards and paramedics were unable to save a 51year-old man following a heart attack. Despite the best efforts of the beach lifeguards and paramedics, the man was not able to be resuscitated. The incident occurred on Tamarit beach in Santa Pola, on Wednesday, August 19, when the man suffered a cardiac arrest. The lifeguards were quick on the scene and started with CPR, before a SAMU unit arrived on the beach to provide assistance and assume control of the situation, however, they sadly were not able to save the man.

YOUTH week was celebrated in wet fashion in Mazarrón with organised water activities aimed at young people. International Youth Day fell on Wednesday August 12, and during that week, a variety of activities were held by the Youth Council, with the mayor of the area, Silvia García, at the helm. The activities, with all the Covid-19 safety and hygiene measures in place, began on the Tuesday morning with a
diving activity, while on the Wednesday afternoon, a kayak activity was carried out and on the Thursday diving was repeated. This amazing event, which will only serve to boast local moral following a difficult year, was finished off on the Friday with sailing in the morning and paddle surfing in the afternoon, before drawing to a close on the Saturday with some more sailing.
EXCITING news for the residents of Pilar de la Horadada as the construction contract has finally been a w a rd e d meaning works can start on the proposed new school facility. The scheduled works, estimated to take up to 14 months, can now begin on the Institute of Secondary Education facility. The new school is set to have four classrooms, with science and technology classrooms, different workshops for training, a cafeteria and a gym, with capacity for 560 people. The budget for the contract is said to be around €7,717,189, with the facility also set to accommodate two sports courts, a playground for secondary education, a covered courtyard designed for games, a garden area and a car park for staff. Sports Centre Clean-up A CARTAGENA sports facility, that was used to house immigrants, is now being restored to normal and will be ready for action shortly. The Cabezo Beaza Pavilion welcomed immigrants, who arrived on boats in recent weeks from the port of Cartagena, as a preventative measure in the battle to control Covid-19 contagion. The facilities were temporarily handed over to the Autonomous Community by the Cartagena City Council, who were then in charge of the internal custody and the daily care, cleaning and maintenance of the people. Workers from the Autonomous Community will carry out full and extensive sanitation works in order to return the facilities to a usable state, with the Red Cross removing its material, which they used for treatment.

Paediatric Mask Measures THE Paediatric department of the Torrevieja Hospital has made some changes to its Covid-19 procedures to improve safety for children and their parents against the virus. All the health centres of the Torrevieja health department have resumed face-to-face activity, including the Paediatric services of the Torrevieja University Hospital. In order to help prevent contagion, and to make the children and their families feel safe, paediatric professionals have established further recommendations in the hope to make children’s consultations run as smoothly as possible, despite the current situation. mended that their paediatric patients wear a mask to attend consultations with only one of their parents allowed to accompany them and advised to keep children under three years old in their pram, or in their arms. In addition to recommending the use of a masks for children, paediatricians have reminded that family members must respect the mandatory mask rules and follow social distancing regulations in waiting rooms and consultations. All health centres have made masks available for those patients who arrive without one, and can be requested at the reception desk. Children are advised to under close supervision at all times.
Month of Laughter IN what will undoubtedly be one of the most humorous programmes this year, the Torrevieja Ríe festival has been announced by the Department of Culture and Festivities of the Torrevieja City Council and is set to take place in the ‘Antonio Soria’ Municipal Park. The festival is set to run every Thursday throughout September, kicks off on Thursday, September 3, with a performance by the Sevillian comedian, Juan Amodeo, who premieres his new show, Time Machine, after having filled the best venues in the country with his previous show. Thursday, September 10, sees the turn of Miguel Ángel Rodríguez and on September 17, the Torrevieja Ríe presents three great comedians in a unique show. On stage there will be; Alex O’Dogherty, Valeria Ross and Víctor Parrado, who promise an alternative and hilarious show. The month-long festivities end on September 24 with the performance of David Guapo, who is one of the most recognised comedy acts and sources of humour in the Spanish and Latin world, thanks to more than 10 million views of his routines online and more than half a million followers on his social network platforms.

What you need to know about Spanish residence and Brexit UK nationals who want to live in Spain and access healthcare and other benefits from 2021 must secure Spanish residence before the Brexit transition period ends on 31 December 2020. Those who successfully applied for Spanish residence before July 2020 received the Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión – widely known as the ‘green card’. Since 6 July 2020, the biometric foreigners' ID card, Tarjeta de Identidad del Extranjero (TIE) is issued instead. Either of these documents demonstrates legal residence in Spain, enabling you and your direct family to live here and enjoy uninterrupted citizens’ rights post-Brexit. Holders of a green card can choose to exchange it for the new TIE – while this is not obligatory, the new format (ID card with photograph) could be more practical and explicitly states your access to citizens’
movement and benefits in Spain. For your green card/TIE to remain valid, you must continue meeting the conditions of Spanish residence. It is likely, for example, that non-Spanish residents with a holiday home in Spain, for example, may only be permitted to spend a limited time there each year without a visa/permit. Next steps to lock in guaranteed rights for Spain Essentially, if you want to secure uninterrupted freedom of movement and associated rights in Spain from 1 January 2021, you need to: • hold current proof of residence (green card, TIE or other residence document) before 31 December; and • continue to meet the conditions of Spanish residence, such as spending 183 days a year in Spain. If you are not yet registered here but intend to become Spanish resident, make an appointment to obtain the new TIE as soon as possible. Although the whole process can take some months, once your application is submitted, you
will receive a receipt from the Spanish immigration authorities which will be valid to prove your residence and rights under the Withdrawal Agreement. Note that in becoming legally resident, you will very likely also be deemed tax resident and liable for Spanish taxation on a worldwide basis, so it is important to get your tax planning in order. For the best results, take specialist advice, ideally before you change residence or transfer assets. A locally-based adviser with cross-border expertise can recommend how to minimise taxes – in Spain and the UK – and take advantage of tax-efficient opportunities. VOX POP No smoke without fire? FROM Monday, August 17, following Galicia and the Canary Islands example, the Spanish Ministry of Health banned smoking in the street and public spaces throughout Spain where smokers cannot guarantee a distance of two metres from others. This is one of the new restrictions which came into force along with others on nightlife opening times and monitoring capacity. The smoking ban applies to all outdoor public spaces, from streets to bar terraces when a minimum distance of two metres cannot be respected. This also applies to devices such as vapes, e-cigarettes and hookas. Also, if somebody is caught smoking in a bar or establishment it is not just them who can receive a penalty, both the owner and the smoker can be fined for anything from €100 to €3,000 for breaking the restrictions.
However, if the bar reports that a customer refuses to stop smoking when asked, only the customer will be fined. EWN took to the streets to ask the public and local bar and restaurant owners how the restrictions have affected them. We were surprised to discover that the general public finds it more of a hindrance than the establishment owners who seemed to have faith in their customer’s ability to make the right decision. • Tim Orram an expat who lives in Benalmadena and is originally from Bristol said, “It’s bulls**t, I think it’s a scam. I go to bars and still see people smoking there without ‘safely’ distancing. Also, if you ask the police the specifics of the l a w t h e y just shrug because they are just as confused about it as we are.” • Kate Kelly an expat who lives in Torre-
blanca said “The smoking ban is so confusing. Which is such a shame as I have felt that the Spanish approach to the Coronavirus has been well organised and communicated so far. I vape and am really unclear as to when and where I can do that now. It has made us a bit wary as to going out at night and so we have been mostly staying on our balcony.” • Maria Jose of Los Angeles bar in Albir on the Costa Blanca is aware of the problems other bars, restaurants a n d cafes a r e experiencing, but has not had any real issues herself. “It has not really been a problem for us as we have a lot of outdoor space and we are located on the street, so it is quite easy for smokers to social distance.”
She went on to say that, “Our customers have all been very responsible when it comes to hand cleaning, wearing masks, and now keeping a distance when smoking.”

Questioning Fundamental Rights Political Viewpoint from Spain by DAMON MITCHELL THE Magistrate Alfonso Villagómez Cebrián, annulled Madrid’s Autonomous Government’s ban on smoking last week; in a democratic country and with a legal system that protects the people’s fundamental rights and freedom, we should all consider the necessity and legality of the actions of the public authorities when they take our freedoms away. Every day we come across new regulations that tell us how we have to act, what we can do and what not, with whom we can and cannot meet, where we can go and where not. Moreover, we must not forget that all these regulations affect rights and freedoms protected by the Spanish Constitution, which can only be limited in a situation of a State of Exception, as regulated by the consti-

It all started with the lockdown decree last March which prevented us from free movement and assembly knowing that in a State of Alarm these rights and freedoms can’t be touched, 40 million Spanish residents accepted the situation due to fear of this pandemic which has rocked most of the world. After the State of Alarm fin-
ished, the Autonomous Regions were given back their power. However, they have regulated numerous aspects of our daily life through legal orders that are null and void, since they are contrary to the Government’s Royal Decree-Law. This Royal DecreeLaw, known as the ‘New Normal’ that imposes several health and safety rules (some of them constitutionally questionable)
have to be controlled and imposed by the Autonomous Administrations; for example, wearing a face mask. The Autonomous Communities have not limited themselves to imposing the Royal DecreeLaw, but have in turn regulated a stricter version, approving regulations that are therefore illegal. In addition, this situation produces legal uncertainty which is also constitutionally unacceptable. And in the middle of all this chaos are the members of the Security Forces, obeying orders from their superiors forcing them to fine residents applying unconstitutional norms. On the one hand, all Spanish civil servants are obliged to obey when carrying out their duties, but on the other hand, they are also obliged to report illegal practices in their jobs when they become aware of them. Therefore, we should ask ourselves, what should the police do? Denounce people or denounce their superiors?
Meanwhile, the government has had to acknowledge that there has never been a committee of experts that supposedly advised on the decision-making of the de-escalation and on the preparation of the aforementioned Royal Decree-Law of the New Normal. The damage which has been made by these clearly political decisions has taken the hotel and bar businesses to a dead zone where no help has been offered more than the original furlough. All this opens up many questions, such as, why is the government going down this road? Are our politicians uneducated with regard to health and economic issues? All these questions will have to be answered sooner or later. Bearing in mind that politicians have never been objective thinkers, we should not hesitate to question them regarding how they legislate our fundamental rights and freedoms.

Possible takeover bid SHARES in Britain’s largest internet sup plier BT have been dropping sharply over the past months even though the company still continues to make signifi cant profits and has a huge annual turnover. It didn’t help that in line with many other companies around Europe it sus pended its dividend but with a reduc tion of value close to 40 per cent in the last year, BT management fear that it is likely to attract a predatory takeover. Sky News reported that BT has con tacted American Investment Bank Gold
man Sachs asking that it should prepare a defence strategy in the event that a takeover bid is launched. Should a takeover actually be fact rather than fiction, it could be either a private equity firm or Deutsche Telecom AG which has shown interest in the British corporation for several years but it does come with baggage. Like other previously government owned organisations, when privatised in 1984, there were a number of regula tion put in place by the then govern ment which are still extant and a new

owner could well find itself at odds with those regulations which make the group responsible to the UK government as well as its shareholders. There’s also the matter of coping with superfast broadband and the introduc tion of 5G which will require greater in put from British companies now that Chinese Group Huawei Technologies will have a far reduced involvement. Add to this, a welldocumented pen sion shortfall and any takeover could be problematic although in the longrun, the value of BT is bound to go up.

Further investigation revealed the mistake and we have made this clear in a series of articles this year. Forget years and months. The rule is: 90 days in a 180day period. You can divide your 90 days as you wish. At the end of the 180day pe riod, you must leave Spain for at least 90 days. So I am afraid that your plan will not work.

CAUTIOUS: Rishi Sunak looking positive. FOR the first time since 1960, the UK government’s debt of just over £2 (€2.2) trillion is greater than Gross Domestic Product (GDP) according to the Office for National Statis tics (ONS). Debt had been creeping up during the latter part of 2019, but the lockdown and pandemic has hit Britain bad ly and the fact is that for the past four months spending has exceeded tax income. Eat Out scheme. Analysts forecast that once these two significant amounts are paid, the need to borrow will drop, especial ly as company VAT payments will be due and the Furlough scheme will finish. Britain will not benefit in the way that Italy and Spain have from the financial sup port from the European Union and the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak will have to be creatively cau tious in his autumn budget and hope that significant trade deals following final Brexit divorce are just around the corner.

Lima airport contract THE Inti Punko consortium, comprising Spanish company Sacyr and Peruvian Group GyM, has been awarded a contract to construct a second runway at the Jorge Chávez airport in Lima, Peru. This is part of an ongoing project to increase landings and capacity at the capital’s main airport which has an overall budget of €330 million to be completed by 2022. In addition to the construc tion of the second runway, 3,480 metres in length, the contract includes the supply of more than 10 kilometres of new taxiways, approach lights, beacon systems, navigation and surveillance equipment.

The Spanish government is criticised in this report for seemingly taking no ac tion to try to persuade the Moroccans to reverse the decision which has apparent ly never been formally announced. Tensions between the two countries have increased this year with Morocco closing land borders with both Ceuta and Melilla, as well as expanding territorial water claims around parts of the Canary Islands.

THE British government’s final decision to allow teachers to decide student’s exam results was not only ridiculous, but positively wreaked of a hasty and desperate endeavour to resolve a problem that they could have simply done without. After all, when you are in debt to the tune of two trillion pounds and gripped by a pandemic bringing the country to its knees, having a bunch of youngsters crying in their cornflakes and marching on Downing Street because they consider they should have received higher than an F in mathematics, was just about the last thing they needed. Appeasing the teachers, pupils and public in one fell swoop was actually a stroke of genius, they simply wanted the problem to go away - and it has. Unfortunately, because of the method used to obtain their grades and through no fault of their own, in years to come the classes of 2020 will be viewed on with suspicion by just about everyone, universities and future employers alike trying to have us believe that teachers would be either competent, unbiased or impartial enough to deliver up fair and just results in these ex-
EXAM RESULTS: A problem the government could have simply done without. ams was actually an insult to anyone with even a smidgen of intelligence. Teachers are as human as the rest of us. They have always had their favourites, or students they dislike and even their occasional attraction to pupils, (who can often manipulate ‘Sir’ or ‘Miss’ with the guile of those far beyond their years!). You can’t tell me that a teacher, who is
aware that a better result for young Jimmy who is not the brightest, but, is ‘such a nice lad’ and has ‘tried very hard,’ doesn’t merit perhaps just a little tweak in the marking department? Well of course it would. Couple that with the fact that schools are judged by their overall success rate and you have the perfect storm for educational skullduggery. Is it any wonder the
diddum’s experienced one of the highest pass rates in history? No, I’m afraid this is merely one more step in the lowering of British education standards, which has been slowly eroding for years. I’m actually pretty convinced that the leftie luvvies will adore this method of selection. No exams, no stress and if they had their way, no losers. I predict a whole glut of university graduates stacking the shelves of Sainsbury’s in the dumbed down years to come. You truly do have to feel sorry for poor old Boris. He’s found himself at the head of a government experiencing the worst series of crisis in living memory. Become a new dad. Been at death’s door with the Covid virus and when he tries to slip away into the British countryside for a brief respite, has an irate farmer chase him off the land where he pitches his tent! Absolutely besotted
FOLLOWING on from our previous article about losing our dog Chalkie, we found ourselves trying to adjust to a life without him and in all honesty, it was a daily struggle. We missed him not being there to greet us, his cuddles and the fact he was always by our side, without question. As days and weeks passed, we sat down as a family several times to talk about how the massive hole he left behind was prominent, and even more so with the current climate, and the new normal, how it wasn’t going away and was there even a possibility of us moving on without it ever being filled again. After thinking about it long and hard we decided to start looking at the option of homing another dog as we

couldn’t move past this. We started to research into various charities and animal shelters but nothing positive was really happening for us after having reached out a few times. It was also very heartbreaking to see all the animals in the kennels without loving homes, but we were so happy when we were able to rescue and home two adorable puppies who I immediately named Han Solo and Chewbacca (I am a massive Star Wars fan ha ha). They are turning three months old and just about to go for their second batch of inoculations. The force is strong with them, they are playful, full of energy and have settled right in as family members. We are absolutely besotted.

WE’VE all put on weight over lockdown. Hold the front page! Well, that’s according to Boris who’s now busily urging lardy Brits to lose weight to reduce the risk of succumbing to Covid-19. (Err, how much weight have YOU lost, Boris?). And as for Jamie Oliver, he’s tried for years to reduce obesity in school kids with mixed results. Maybe Jamie should turn his attention to adults too, with the news that one UK c h u rc h p l a n s t o r i p o u t church pews so ‘fat folk’ can walk down the aisle ... “Here comes the bride, 40 inches wide,” is the headline in one paper describing a Dorset church’s plans to remove some of its pews because the aisle is too narrow for obese couples to walk down. According to its Parochial Church Council: “We have had occasions at wed-

dings where the couple have been too large to be able to walk side by side down the aisle.” But isn’t this simply evolution in action? No longer does the bride need to slim to fit the dress, but now she needs to slim to fit the church. What next, are they going to widen the doors, have a snack break half-way through the service or add a pizza oven and a deep fat fryer in case anybody gets a bit peckish if the sermon drags on? Not forgetting to have the floor reinforced. Absolutely ridiculous! Clearly time not to change the church but the people wanting to get married there! In this time of Covid and the proven link with obesity, a prewedding diet would seem to be in order. The answer is to lose weight, not wreck the
church. But let him who is without sin cast the first scone. (Sorry!) At this point I should declare an interest. My 90-yearold neighbour told me that the doctor had said he must lose weight and cut down on his daily four cans of beer. They call me Sir Lunchalot GAVIN LAMBE-MURPHY AMIDST the never-ending rule changes of the new normal, one thing remains constant - each day, lunch is something of an occasion. Having always preferred to lunch, rather than dinner, I try to find restaurants in Marbella to fulfil my desire for great food, and stylish settings. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it should be. Living directly on the beach, one would expect simple, yet fantastic seafood and local cuisine. However, it seems that the restaurateurs of the area prefer to mix things up, with an awful lot of Asian fusion. Yes, I’m confused too. If you’re fortunate to live in Andalucia, there are so many amazing culinary possibilities. While dining out should be something to look forward to, I find it something of a chore, as I try to think of where to go. First World problems for sure, but still, problems are problems. That changed this week, as I stumbled upon my new favourite place. Primeria Selection, in Marbella town is possibly the most stylish and passionate of all. Stylish, as it exudes simple elegance. Passionate, as the owners Luis and Encarna Galán are knowledgeable and interested in every aspect. I met a friend on an impossibly hot Wednesday afternoon, when the only thing to calm the heat was chilled Veuve Clicquot, and an ocean of San Pellegrino. We shared some burrata and then asked what else was on offer. I was told that in the evening the menu lists daily specials. One thing I’ve noticed a lot in Marbella - despite the economic downturn and lack of custom, most places are reluctant to bend the rules, remaining trapped in opening times that simply no longer apply. If a customer wishes to go off piste, and let’s say, order from the evening menu at lunch time, why not? They have money, and you have what they want. I believe they call it ‘good business.’ Anyhow, that’s exactly what happened. When I asked what time the

Amazingly fresh prawn tortilla with black truffle. Potato salad with cod tartare. A locally sourced cheese plate. A well-priced and delicious Rioja. Sorry if I’m making you hungry. This couple are passionate about every aspect of their business, and more so, about promoting seriously good Spanish produce. That evening, I thought of how well they ran their chic eatery. Hands on and hard work - I know it’s hard work, as I used to be involved in a similar restaurant in Dublin. That’s the thing about whatever you choose to do - without a true passion, there’s no point. I was recently interviewed for an English magazine, about my lifestyle, and life in general. When asked why I live in Spain, I replied, because I am fortunate. Yes, there are many things about Marbella that surprise me. But a life without surprise, well, where’s the fun in that?

DEAR Euro Weekly, I live in a particularly Spanish neighbourhood in Fuengirola and there are a couple of Spanish bars owned by the same people that are situated next to each other. Every single night the bars are ram-packed, sure they serve a little tapas to go with the drinks, but I am talking no social distancing, no masks, absolutely no time for chairs or tables to be wiped down and disinfected. It’s bedlam. The police pass this area regularly as it is near the police station and a main road, but I have never seen them stop and do any kind of enforcement or checks. Are we back to us against them again? Surely it should be one rule for everyone if we ever want rid of this horrible virus?

TK Dear Euro Weekly, I got a bit of a fright last week when I read your report on Facebook about the possibility of a lockdown in September and I must say the load of comments made it worse. However, when I read your follow up article it did begin to make sense and of course, if that is what the government ask
OUR VIEW Mere pawns WHEN will politicians and governments stop gambling with our lives in their games of one-upmanship? First one closes their borders then another follows suit in what seems like a childlike move, do they really have our best interests at heart or have we become bargaining tools in their future plans? Three weeks ago, the UK government decided to re-impose a 14-day quarantine on everyone arriving from Spain forcing travellers into panic and trying to return home at short notice. At the time, Spain’s PM Pedro Sánchez said visitors would be safer from the virus in Spain than in the UK, and he hoped Britain would think again. However, the UK government have not changed their mind and an official spokesperson for BoJo even warned that ‘no travel is risk-free during this pandemic.’ Now, the UK government has said anyone travelling from France and the Netherlands will have to quarantine, which again caused a mass exodus among those holidaying in these destinations. It was reported that the latest measure was put into place as new Covid-19 infections grew across Europe and France, in particular, reported a large increase in infections in the past week. T h e m o v e i s a g i g a n t i c b l o w t o F r a n c e ’s tourism industr y as the previous move was to Spain’s. Is there something we are missing? A bigger picture? Take away the destinations and people will spend money on home soil maybe?

I have friends who have already handed back their keys as they see no way forward and who is to know what nonsensical moves the government will make next. You can kiss goodbye to tourism now. Obviously, most people won’t be coming on holiday to stand next to each other smoking in a bar that isn’t serving food at three o’clock in the morning but people want things their way and want to make up their own minds about where they smoke, drink or party. Let’s hope for some good news soon or even results that show that this was a good idea, as so far nothing has proven to have worked.

However, I never actually understood how much this affected my state of well-being. Trying to control the outcome of every aspect of my life, increased my anxiety and lead me to question my own natural ability to just be me! There were things I was trying to control that were actually, completely out of my control. This then lead to frustration, anger and resentment. By concentrating on controlling everything outside of me, I lost my authentic self. I lost my inner calm and peace, replacing it with uncertainty. I needed to know why I felt the need to control everything in my life, and why it was so impor-

Quote - Before you take control of your life you first must understand what “taking control” means. tant to me. I had to revisit my past to find the answer. I picked up my journal, and wrote the title ‘Why Do I Need To Be In Control?’ After frantically writing, I had dwindled it down to two main reasons... FEAR and EGO. My ego was telling me that if I didn’t control my personal and business life, I would fail! I had to be perfect in every way possible to avoid said failure and to also avoid the judgement of others. If I had control, I would only achieve success. I felt that I had to control my work, my relationship, who I allowed around me because then, there was no way I could get hurt! The problem was, I was the one that was causing the hurt. Not only to myself but everyone around
me. So How Do You Let Go Of The Need To Control? Here are three of the top tips that taught me how to be less of a control freak Learn to Just Be You cannot control anything that is outside of you. You can only control the emotions that you attach to it. Be at peace with yourself. Take anything between five and 30 minutes per day to ‘Just Be.’ Find a quiet spot, take in your surroundings and enjoy the moment. Don’t pressurise yourself to feel or do anything, just enjoy whatever comes to you at that moment and breath. Show gratitude for what you have, here and now. Let go of the outcome and appreciate the calmness within you.
Write a List Write a list of the things that you CAN control. By physically writing the list of what you can control, you can remove the need to control what is outside of you. My list consists of the following, My mental well-being - I can control my mental state and wellbeing by doing what makes my soul happy. For me, this includes, reading a book, meditation and journalling. As a believer of the law of attraction, I understand we all work on electrical frequencies. By ensuring I am on a high-frequency level, and being at peace with myself, I will attract more of the same back to me. My appearance - I can control how I want to look. If I wish to wear make-up, I can. If I wish to
just kick back in my favourite PJs, with my hair scrunched, on the top of my head, I can. Let Go of the What Ifs What if it goes wrong? What if I make a fool of myself? What if I fail. These were questions that entered my mind daily. Now I ask the same question back! Nothing you do is a failure, it is merely a lesson and with lessons comes growth. If something doesn’t go the way you want it to, let go of trying to control it. Try a different approach or understand that, what has happened, was meant to happen. It’s not just time to talk about mental health - it’s time to ask, listen and care MS BIPOLAR UP AND DOWN WITH BALANCE UNEDITED LET’S not just encourage someone to talk about their mental health, let’s practise to be good listeners. It’s easy for someone to say “say how you feel” but how many times have we sat there knowing full well they aren’t listening to what you have to say. When it comes to the need to talk about our mental health, we seem to put all of the responsibility in the court of the person who is already struggling. Sure, nobody can read minds, and people can’t expect specific help without asking for it. But mental health problems can make it harder to talk and ask for help in the first place. The responsibility of reaching out for help has to be matched - to provide safe spaces to talk, to listen, to not judge. My experiences have taught me the difficulty of coping with unwanted and distressing thoughts. When I was dealing with unwanted thoughts, having to seek help felt like an overwhelming task when I was already just surviving. I have often tried to reach out to people but felt like I am being a
burden, why should they have to carry my pain too? It can be very difficult for people to go there - to be with someone in their suffering - especially when they may not see the reality of it face-to-face, or don’t feel equipped to talk about such things. But this isn’t about having a degree in psychiatry, or even mental health awareness, we simply just want someone to talk to who isn’t going to judge. We all have a personal responsibility to take care of our health as best as we can, and to try and seek support when we realise we can’t manage on our own. With my own mental health, my responsibility is to make sure I have people around me who I can rely on, be open with, and allow myself to be supported by. Also as an outsider, with family and friends also suffering with mental health issues, we must take responsibility for putting our fears aside when people indicate they are in distress, get them to keep talking, and get them to share the load BUT let’s LISTEN, listen like we mean it. Stop what you are doing, and listen, two minutes of your time can save a person’s life, it can change their thought process, it can distract them from whatever they may be feeling. I grew up with my Dad saying “You have two ears, one mouth … use them in that order.” So instead of putting the responsibility on people to talk about their mental health, let’s educate ourselves about mental health problems, ask people about their mental health, and practise being good listeners whether we have our own experiences of mental health problems or not. AS part of the 17th Musical Exchange Campaign, Union Musical Hondon de los Frailes will parade through the streets of the village on Sunday, August 30 at 7.30pm. A spokesperson for the band said: “We tour (the village) giving people the chance to listen to music again in our beloved village. We will also welcome Claudia Martinez, who will join us with her flute.” The band began its musical journey in 1993, founded by director Enrique Pastor Ruiz. Members performed in the village for the first time in April 1995, and in the same year had their first outing to Alcantarilla, Murcia. They now take part in the local festivities of several towns and villages in the province of Alicante and Murcia, including Moors and Christians festivities and processions.

A real success MAR EZCURRA, councillor for the Department of Culture, stated, “this year’s Opera in Orihuela Costa has been a real success that we will certainly repeat. We combined both live concerts and retransmissions of the best operas at the Teatro Real.” The Covid-19 health crisis meant restrictions to the number of people able to view the concerts in person, and the number of performances, which led to screenings of old performances being scheduled. ‘Tosca’ by Giacomo Puccini, which was originally scheduled for July 22 before being postponed due to weather problems, concluded this year’s programme on August 26. Mar Ezcurra thanked the attendees for their enthusiasm for the activities, which brought together more than 200 people around music every day.

In dogs, ligament rupture is the result of subtle, slow degeneration that has been going on for a few months or even years and is only rarely the result of acute trauma. The diagnosis is not always easy. Several recent studies show that properly performed tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) provides the best patient outcomes in large and giant breed dogs. Your answer may determine whether you a p p ro v e o f N i s s a n ’s Juke, that when it was launched divided opinion and there was no middle g ro u n d . Rather like a certain well-known food spread. Launched in 2010 this small SUV-like hatchback polarised opinion but certainly didn’t dent sales as it appealed to those looking for something that lacked the anonymity of most euro boxes. In its latest guise, the Juke has lost a little of its quirkiness but probably increased its appeal. While it retains the individuality there are new, neat styling touches that will appeal to a broader set of buyers. Spaceship style front lights, dramatic LEDs and a sweeping grille give

The single engine option for all versions is a threecylinder, turbocharged, one-litre petrol unit with either manual or dual clutch automatic gears. It’s a super engine and whilst not unduly fast proves fun to drive. My Tekna + model test car sits just one below the top line version and came in automatic form which utilises twin clutches, a method popular on many cars nowadays. It’s not perfect and often feels jerky, but in Nissan’s incarnation it
proves pretty nifty and useable. Standard fare is good with an absolute plethora of kit on this model and I really couldn’t imagine anything else you would need on a car. Priced at €28,578 (£25,860) and resplendent in two tone grey and ‘Fuji Sunset Red’ the interior proved even more vibrant with ‘energy orange’ highlights. Sounds awful but it really did work. With a modest 11.1 seconds to 100 kmh (62 mph) and a top speed of 180 kmh (112mph) it’s no sports car but feels peppy and good fun on the road. Combined fuel consumption is okay, but not great, at 44.1 mpg, but that’s about the only downside. It’s an adventurous car and whether you’re young, old or even in-between, I can imagine those wanting something a bit different, a head turner (although not always from an admiring crowd) will love the Juke.

It’s quite noisy, but there’s plenty of power. It’s not exactly nippy, 060mph takes 12 seconds, but it’ll happily haul the SUV up to motorway speeds quickly enough. When you consider how much car you get for your money, there’s a 551-litre boot and plenty of space for adults in the back. If you don’t need to carry rear passengers, dropping the rear seats is simple enough and provides a van-rivalling 1248-litre large load area for lugging bulky items.

Refreshing transparency IT’S fair to say the new electric Corsa-e, which has an official W LT P r a n g e o f 2 0 9 miles (336.3 km), is actually the most important car that Opel / Vauxhall has launched since the original Corsa arrived on the scene in 1982. The Corsa-e isn’t exactly bristling with performance, but with 1455kg of a car to transport, Vauxhall’s 062mph time is certainly achievable.
Prices start from around €30,000. Included in that price is the installation of a home wall-box, capable of charging the battery to maximum capacity in about 7.5 hours. The Corsa-e supports 100kW DC rapid-charging as standard too, which brings the charge times down to around half an hour. Given that many manufacturers will charge you extra for the fastest possible charging capability, Opel / Va u x hall’s
